I love this song so much because I feel the lyrics personally. It perfectly describes my own struggles with social anxiety and introversion. And when Gilmour uses the voice box at the end, it’s like he is showing us how he communicates best - through his guitar. It speaks for him. He always manages to convey so much emotion through his instrument that often, there is no need for words. Utterly beautiful
The tube thing is called a talk box. The sound from the guitar is sent from a speaker through the tube, you can then use your mouth to form word sounds using the guitar instead of your vocal cords.
What a very good reaction!!! I listen to Pink Floyd every day !!! I am 72 years old but I hope that a lot of young folks listen to David Gilmour (Pink Floyd ) Great music !!!🥰🙂🙂😊
The song is about simple communication. Particularly two people in a relationship. The man unable to express his thoughts and feelings and the woman asking "why won't you talk to me, you never talk to me, what are you thinking, what are you feeling" . At least that's what I get from the song.
I’ve never understood why this hasn’t become a radio standard or whatever. The lyrics are pretty self explanatory. Steven Hawking in it, a dude that needed a computer to talk. And then the symbolism of David playing that voice box (vox?) tied in with his guitar, and no words. It’s a song that has grown on me over the years. And I am getting more of it now than before
Basically how the talk box works is the sound of guitar goes through the tube. You then put it in your mouth and you can essentially talk with the guitar
It's called a Talk Box. It's an effect guitarists can use to alter the sound of the guitar. Basically it redirects the sound of the guitar from the amp into his throat, he then uses his throat and mouth to change the sound and push it through the mic
It's called a talk box. It's basically a tubular speaker that you put into your mouth. So the guitar sound goes into your mouth, which creates the effect that the guitar is 'talking'.
What van be said? The bass was powerful in this song. Deep and clear. A thick underlining, that sends everything else forward, yet keeping the overall texture beautifully framed. Over the last few days, I've concluded that Nick Mason is a very underrated drummer. I'd not think twice about placing him high in a top ten list. When this was new, it opened my eyes wide. And I could see that I was so guilty of taking communication for granted. Back then, it was more a weapon, than a vital tool for keeping the peace. Look at east Europe right now, "it doesn't have to be like this if we keep talking". I must admit, I laughed when your expression changed into, surprise, disbelief, and curiosity all together when David had that gadget in his mouth. (Just when you thought it was safe to put on headphones, Floyd throw another wild card). Really cool though, isn't it?.
9:30 it's a Talkbox and it comes with a Plastic Tube you put in your Mouth and the other Half is Connected to David's Guitar and comes out making Noises out of his Amp with both his Voice and his Guitar!
There's 2 type of people.. one who listen 2 pink floyd.. the other who understands the words of pink floyd. Music is as such.. if ya feel good bout listening 2 it then thar song is a success 4 u. If u understand it then its a bonus. Either way enjoy.
The "album of the week" concept is great - especially since you really should experience PF albums in their entirety - BUT, I have to say that it would be perfectly okay (and I would really recommend it) that you watch some of the other performances from this same concert - Pulse 1994 - whether you've listened to the album yet or not. "Comfortably Numb", "Sorrow", "High Hopes", "Run Like Hell" are not to be missed.
@@BetterEveryDayUA-cam Oh, I guess I should have looked a little further before making my suggestion - I sincerely hope you liked (kind of anemic word for a PF song) them. I enjoyed watching this with you - keep up the great work!
Love the "album week" concept. One or two tracks each day from a specific album: much better than random dips into an album. That applies everywhere, not just for PF.
The keyboard is called a synthesizer. These are analogue instruments before the digital age. I've been in rock bands from the age of 12 & I'm now 60 so I'll give you a quick lesson. Synths didn't have presets like modern keyboards (piano, strings, organ ect) you had to construct the sounds by adjusting oscillators, modulators, filters ect. Very popular in the 70s / 80s. The thing in his mouth is called a Vocoder or voice box. By pushing a foot switch you redirect the sound of the guitar to a small speaker in a box on the floor. The sound travels up a plastic hose into the mouth whereby you can change the tone of the guitar by shaping your mouth or even speaking. The sound is then picked up by the mic & amplified. You should really check out the whole pulse live concert for yourself. Pink Floyd are a very visual band so make sure you watch it.
HA HA - You're going to stop talking so you can play Keep Talking. 😂 Love it. I'm digging this song too. Was there, (different City). So great to see ppl relating and to see this again. Breaking News - Pulse makes soul connection for all humans.
Hello, we are a kids family band from New Zealand and we do a lot of classic rock covers.. We hope you might like to see a Pink Floyd one we have done of 'Hey You' by Pink Floyd. We reckon it’s a really cool Pink Floyd song! Thanks :)
I had to change the AA battery in my pulse CD last week it lasted a few years lol If you were one of the people to get the CD when it came out the cd had a flashing LED light in the side
Keyboard playing is done by PF's late keyboardist, Richard Wright. He was one of the founders of PF. You are talking a synthesizer. Synthesizer can make different sounds.
For me itsinitiallyabout the "discovery " of speach the ability to pass knowlege, andexpiereince down generations which has suported the human project , Communication the greatest human discovery,..
"For millions of years, mankind lived just like the animals". "Then something happened which unleashed the power of our imagination-we learned to talk". But yet, when we look at what is currently happening in Ukraine, we can question our power to communicate effectively. "It doesn't have to be like this. All we need to do is make sure we keep talking". - Unfortunately, too often, "Your lips move, but I can't hear what you're saying".
Voice talking was done by late well-known physicist, Stephen Hawking thru his electronic device. As we can talk, but there is no communications between anyone such man/woman and his/her significant other.
" For millions of years mankind lived just like the animals , then something happened which unleased the power of our imagination , we learned to talk " - Stephen Hawking
Define 'better'. The Division Bell is probably my favourite PF album of all and I started listening to them in 1972 with Meddle. The important thing to remember is that there isn't a competition and there's certainly no prize. Everyone has their own opinion as to which albums and songs they prefer. I'd rather listen to packing foam being scraped against a window than The Final Cut, and The Wall, aside from three or four tracks, is just bloated and mediocre. So if by 'better' you mean one's you prefer, say so rather than leave it open that you might have arrived at your conclusion by some other metric.
@@nomdaploom you good?. Well it's obviously my opinion; I'm the one who said it. And now you've expressed yours, the important thing to remember is that there isn't a competition and there's certainly no prize.
"pulse 1994" 14 sold out shows in a row. 200 ton stage , 200,000 watts of power, 128 wireless speakers, 53 semi's to move it. Watch any song it will impress you. "Comfortably Numb" ( the greatest solo at the end) "sorrow" " last song " run like hell". you will be a Pink Floyd fan beware.
it's just a plastic tube. So the voice box is pushing air and by changing his mouth, alters the note he's playing. Believe it or not, Stevie Wonder used one on his keyboard....so maybe you can check into that for yourself!!!! How cool would that be right? That's how you become one with the instrument lol....
Something that I never understand: If this is your first time listening to this song then why not trying the studio version? which is the exact version that the band wants you to experience and is much better.

Pink floyd is one trippy band. This is an underated song, but 100 times better then the music we have today
Asaloutly100%😮
Your first sentence is a disgrace to PF. Pls refrain.

The word your searching for is progressive rock yet another fabulous track from the genius of pink floyd can't get enough great reaction
That was Steven Hawking during the intro...
We as humans are gifted with the ability to talk let's keep talking ,
One of my favorites
Their music works on a higher vibration, that's why you feel different.

It very much is about humanity and how our ability for speech, should keep us from tearing each other apart....
this is the second edit version of the dvd álbum tour. I suggest to view the first edition. You can apreciate the stage how is react to the music
"Anyway I'm gonna stop talking...." reacting to... Keep Talking hahaha
Basically telling us to keep talking to different people, no matter our differences we are more alike than we think or realize. It's a wake up call!

Gilmour keeps talking - albeit through his guitar! Thanks for reacting to this jam, which is overlooked by most reactors! It is one of my favorites!
Wow.. not often I see/hear a reaction to this particular song :) Love it when people enjoy their introduction to PF so much :)
Listen David Gilmour 1978, So far away
its two people standing in the same room, but they cant hear each other, we have all seen that when communication breaks down
The Masculine and Feminine duality of the song speaks to the difficulties of modern relationships...
I love this álbum
the final part of this song would be like an extraterrestrial communication...it's something brilliant!

I would recommend David's solo albums as well. A lot of wonderful guitar and lyrucs.

Just an uplifting song
The sound is Eteherial!
This is a song of what real depression feels like.
You are one of the most naturally beautiful woman I think I've ever seen!😀
Thank you so much!
The song is about the failure to communicate. Add your sides _____x_____ here.
They sound even better with weed
Been loving your reactions to this underrated album. There are at least 5 better Pink Floyd Albums for you to listen to next...;)
One slip,Yet another movie and On the turning away, 1987 Delicate Sound of Thunder concert and Sorrow, Pulse concert

Unfortunately this song means way more than people realize it really means communication for the human race to not stop talking or there will be another World War if we keep up the track we're heading with blinders on the recipe for catastrophe is there on all levels now and so does my WW2 veteran family members that are still left
It's like one my favorite songs Folks Keep Talking from my favorite bands Pink Floyd when Stephen Hawking did his famous Commercial in the 90s saying as long as Mankind keeps communicating the human race still has a chance to turn it around no matter how close we get to another catastrophic global disaster like now we face in 2023 like some of my family who faught in WW2 so this never happens again unfortunately they now see all the ingredients are again like it was in 1937 only with hypersonic nukes and way more powerful and devastating warfare weapons on terrifying scale never thought possible it's almost incomprehensible to the mass destruction this will cause you think the most disturbing and scary movie in history threads about a nuclear Holocaust with the most realistic ending in movie history about really what will happen to are human race in end
Which is not being able to reproduce because of radiation wasteland on a apocalyptic scale that even surpasses another great WW3 ending movie on the Beach made in the 1950s where Australia was the last country standing waiting for the end of are existence again either way you look at it people like this song represents we need to keep talking or else
