This is live from the PULSE concert in1994. You would enjoy seeing it also. Light show and production are excellent. Other songs from that concert to do are "Comfortably Numb" and "Great Gig in the sky"
I was there at Pasadena 1994 Pulse concert, And your right... Floyd does take your soul outside for a stroll... At the concert, there were people there weeping while this was played, and comfortably Numb too..
you know, I was going to apologize for you having to sit through this video without being able to experience what the band was actually doing, live, on stage, but when I started hearing you interpret what you were thinking and feeling from the song, it was kinda something no one else has done, and I haven't really even heard someone describe their thoughts on the meaning of the song after watching the live performance. I guess what I'm saying is thank you for your "reactions", now go watch the concert video of the song so you can appreciate what all went into their performance!

AWESOME~you shoulda done the Pulse edit video with that instead of the pictures, it is the live concert sound. Look at these 50 something regular guys in 1994 dressed like they are going to mow grass playing excellent music together, they don't look or act like aliens hahaha; in fact they'd rather you enjoy the concert experience and not look at them. great reaction, great insight. watch it again with the video remastered-don't have to re-react, but just look at these guys and the show. Pink Floyd not only plays to the ears but also to the mind, body, and soul. I first discovered Pink Floyd as a teenager in 1975. I'm 61 in a week, and their just as amazing now. my Kids know their music and my oldest grand kids do as well.
Thanks for the reminder of how great this song and Pink Floyd are. Gilmour is an alien, his guitar is a time transporter because you always lose track of it when listening. Great reaction and discussion guys.
Pink Floyd....what emotions sound like. No group of musicians - past, present, or future - describes all aspects of the human condition like PF. It is so incredible that we can still experience the timeless magic they produced, and their legacy will continue to thrill generations to come.
This song live is great too. Please also do "On The Turning Away" live from 1988 (remastered in 2019). Also, they don't block their music so no worries about posting videos.
you were right about the sadness of the world and how we are destroying it , David Gilmore wrote the song and the guitar is the Sorrow, it sounds like it is connected to his soul 💔 also learning to fly Pulse concert everything from there is Fantastic
This song specifically holds very deep and special meaning for me, because I've spent too many days of my life as the man in the song. It was released at a time when I was finishing high school and getting ready to go to the Navy. Of course, many people have had bad moments or entire childhoods, but the moment I heard that first note on the guitar, who I am, and have been for a very long time blasts from my speakers. I'm also not conceited or arrogant enough to say that this song was written for or about me, yet every note, every word, always hits home. Too many days have been spent under dark gray skies, and every promise that has been made to me has been broken. It wasn't written for me, but it sure feels like it's me, and my life.
thats the beauty of pink floyd - their lyrics are philosophical and open to interpretation - each person can have their own view and thats fine - nobody is wrong - if thats what you feel. then thats what you feel - thats why their music is still so fresh and eternal - because each person can see a different meaning and thats how they can reach so many different people all over the world - even still today 50 years on from the release of Dark Side Of The Moon - their music still sounds fresh and not dated - sheer genius
If you want more Floyd, try One of These Days from the pulse concert. You’ll see Mr. Gilmour absolutely shred a slide guitar and the lyrics aren’t overly complicated. I saw the pulse concert in Vancouver with 60,000 of my closest friends. As many bands that I’ve seen, easily the best concert I ever went to.
I saw them live at Arrowhead Stadium in the late 1980s. An amazing experience to say the least. The deep bass had the entire stadium vibrating and it pounded against my chest. You could quite literally "feel" the music. Awe inspiring stuff. The simple intro and outro guitar on this brings tears to my eyes to this day. Music of this kind was only ever produced by Floyd. None before, none since. And it's magical.
Saw Pink Floyd at Giants Stadium July 18, 1994 -- my parents got me a ticket for my 19th birthday. It was the Division Bell Tour or Pulse as in the live videos from the dvd. Possibly the best concert I've ever seen.
I love it when people react to this song. The version from the Pulse concert is awesome (I think the audio for this video was taken from Pulse). It would be well worth your time to check out the Pulse version,; that way you can see the band members and the amazing light show.
This is one of my favorites. That solo is one of my favorite David solos. The solos especially at the end is also one that makes me tear up. Also LMAO. The recommended at the end during your views were nearly identical to mine. Especially that random Sepultura track.
"On the Turning Away" is another great song from PF. Of course, any song from PF is another great song. Love to watch you guys react to PF. You just "get it".
One does not simply hear Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd is an experience. There are many great bands and to be fair Pink Floyd isn't my #1 favorite band, but I do believe they are the most amazing and epic bands ever. "other worldly" is a perfect description, Tasha.
nice. Now that you have done this reaction, take some time to watch the Pulse, Live (Remastered) version, as the visual is a multiplier to the emotions, and inspirations. Seeing Gilmore ring every emotion imaginable out of that guitar in such a manner that isn't process-based but pure creation, a pure transformation from the energy in him, through him, to the guitar and its soul, and out to the circuitry and speakers for confirmation and feedback...truly amazing song, and even more amazing video.
I think artistic inspiration is often derived from places we've never been. Forces beyond human ones, often drive creativity to send a message. Sometimes that message isn't 100% understood by the performer. Maybe the performer is merely the vessel that delivers the words and sounds from a realm that we don't understand.
As others have said this was the pulse concert version with a fan video added. Good as it was you definitely missed out not seeing the actual concert video. The lights and lasers seem to be controlled by David Gilmour's guitar . Cool reaction, can see you both get Pink Floyd
This recording is from Pink Floyds 1994 Pulse Concert at Earls Court London. It's one of just a few Pink Floyd concert videos that are available in its entirety, or as individual songs, on UA-cam. Many of the Pulse Concert videos are re-mastered and re-edited so they look and sound great! And as you can tell right here in this video you're reacting to, they sound phenomenal, like it's a studio version! You guys would love that concert, you should react to it, or at least some of it! "Sorrow" is just one of many, many great performances Pink Floyd puts on LIVE. The light and laser shows alone are almost as incredible as the music,.... well maybe not quite that much, but they're great. Lol! Unbelievable performances of "Comfortably Numb" (with its 4 minute long, song ending, David Gilmour guitar solo),... "Money",... "High Hopes",... "Learning To Fly",... "Time" and many more. Check them out, you'll get lots of likes!
Best by far Pink Floyd "on the turning away"( 1989-07-15)FM by thinkfloyd.61 8 Million views. I have seen Floyd 8 times. it's not a concert it's and EXPERIENCE like no other. AS Dave's wife once said . If I ask Dave a ? he can answer it better with his guitar.
Give a listen to "Marooned" from the Division Bell album. It will make you think you are marooned on a spaceship or a space station. It also won them a Grammy for best instrumental in 1994. "Sorrow" is one of the best ever environmental anthems ever.
I have been listening to pink floyd my whole life. I have seen David Gilmore live at the Astrodome in 1987 shortly after Roger left the band. I was able to get to see Roger waters in Austin in October of 2022 completing my Pink Floyd live performances.
This is from the Pulse concert. Do yourself a great favor and watch the official video of this performance, it is amazing to watch as it is to listen to just the audio. Pink Floyd stage shows are something to behold.
I was a proud father to have taken my 16 yr old daughter before she passed away a few days later to this concert in London Earls Court for Pink Floyds Pulse concert ... If you haven't seen the full concert plz plz plz do .. TY for bringing back soooooo many great memories of such a legendary one of its kind concerts .. PS. never watched / listened to this tune with the video you played .. epic ! PPS. loving the backdrop futuristic wallpaper omg ! Raises his glass .. TY !
The power this band produces gives me chills. even after all these years. So glad you guys loved it. Can I suggest Their Delicate sound of thunder concert, especially Great Gig in the sky. Some of the best back up vocalizing I've ever heard. You won't be disappointed. Love you guys.
The Alan Parsons Project is another band that is similar to Pink Floyd. In fact Alan Parson was the assistant engineer on Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon album. Floyd's music takes every individual on their own path of feeling and emotions.
You need to watch the live video of this the band is really having a great time playing this song there is big smiles all around from the band and the laser light show is amazing. You won't regret it.
You guys REALLY need to react to this live. You just heard it, but missed the incredible stageshow. Plus watching them play, background vocals...just incredible. Please let us wacth with you. After that, same 1994 Pulse concert, LEARNING TO FLY. Love your reactions guys!
The amazing thing about Pink Floyd music it that the "sound" of so many of their songs expose the listener's inner feelings and emotions that write their own lyrics into one's consciousness... and those type lyrics don't always match the lyrics of the song as written. I can't think of ANY other band who's music does that on a scale like Pink Floyd.
Just to say, to my taste, the best version of many later versions of this song, it's Delicate Sound of Thunder which is the concert tour for Momentary Lapse of Reason album. Pulse concert was good but the concert mentioned before it was the comeback of Pink Floyd after they split, without Roger Waters
Hi guys! Just catching up with your reactions recently and totally love both of you ❤ Totally agree on 'otherwordly'. When I agree with 'I've never heard anything like this', we can all understand that this came out in 1987!!!!!! So ahead of all music, it had to have come from outer space 😍
Well done! I love hearing your emotional response to this Pink Floyd masterpiece. I would suggest that in a similar vein you should take a listen to "On the Turning Away" which I think is even more powerful. Many other great pieces, too, including "Great Gig in the Sky" (best versions are the original from Dark Side of the Moon and the live version from "Pulse") - this will bring forth emotions, guaranteed! Thanks again
Wow! Tasha's post-song reaction was genuine, very articulate and spot on the money. Full marks to her. If not yet reacted to, I'd recommend "Keep Talking".
Ok SO NOW IMAGINE BEING IN THE 70 'S AND HAVING PINK FLOYD, EGALES, BREAD, BOB SIEGER ... ECT... THE LIST IS LONG AND BRILLIANT SOO GREATFUL TO HAVE BEEN TO MOST ALL OF THESE CONCERTS ,AND NOT STOP GREATNESS ON THE AIRWAYS ....!! 😊
I envy you and your recent new discovery of Pink Floyd. I wish I could have that feeling again of hearing them for the first time. They have been my go-to band for the last thirty years for every significant event in my life. Pain. Sorrow. Happiness. Peace....They have always been with me.
It's really a shame you didn't use the video from the 1994 Pulse concert. In this video you can see David Gilmour "taming" his Stratocaster and the stage lighting in conjunction with the music is fascinating... By the way, this is the same concert that you made a response to "Comfortably Numb" from.
Growing up when I was young it was early 80's and we had so many different bands doing different types of music I cant believe looking back i know this is nothing to do with the song ,when we were a more nationalised country it really was full Of probably the best music ever in that period compared to today's there's no effort anymore in using the instruments, pink floyd was very much influenced by ww2 and the system we had in place in this country around then it has changed im 48 and certainly missing it all ,have a nice day to whoever browses over my comment 😊
The live version you played was recorded from the Pulse/Division bell tour 1994 . I was at the Pasadena Concert April 1994... It was souly intense... Rolling stone magazine once asked Eric Clapton what it feels like to be the worlds greatest guitarist, Clapton answered " I don't know, Ask David Gilmore".. you really have to play the video from PULSE tour... It really gives the song depth
This is THE best piece from A Momentary Lapse of Reason. Pulse version is mazing... ETA: Too bad you guys don't have the lyrics video... ETA2: [Verse 1] The sweet smell of a great sorrow lies over the land Plumes of smoke rise and merge into the leaden sky: A man lies and dreams of green fields and rivers But awakes to a morning with no reason for waking He’s haunted by the memory of a lost paradise In his youth or a dream, he can’t be precise He’s chained forever to a world that’s departed It’s not enough, it’s not enough [Verse 2] His blood has frozen and curdled with fright His knees have trembled and given way in the night His hand has weakened at the moment of truth His step has faltered [Bridge] One world, one soul Time pass, the river roll [Verse 3] And he talks to the river of lost love and dedication And silent replies that swirl invitation Flow dark and troubled to an oily sea A grim intimation of what is to be There’s an unceasing wind that blows through this night And there’s dust in my eyes, that blinds my sight And silence that speaks so much louder than words Of promises broken
Yes!!! Sorrow!! It's been a long time since I've heard this song. There has to be Pink Floyd in the afterlife. Because it's a permanent experience Do Learning to Fly next!
“There's an unceasing wind that blows through this night And there's dust in my eyes that blinds my sight And silence that speaks so much louder than words Of promises broken”
A post nuclear holocaust world... The wind is the solar winds caused by the detonation. The dust is what's left of the world blowing in his eyes. The silence is the lack of life, the promises of no nuclear war obviously was broken.
I get this from the song a man who has lost everything in his life looking at past mistakes contemplating suicide glad he never went through the act dark but musically out of this universe
A killer song from them. So great to hear what you thought of this. Would like to add if you've never heard the song Brain Damage from 1973s Dark Side Of The Moon album, check it out. The lyrics alone will make you put on your thinking cap.
David Gilmour is a guitar master. He gives people the chills the way he plays notes. He’s amazing.
He plays with emotion.
I would put him in the top 3 guitarists of all time. 🙌
You need to watch the live version at pulse!!
It is really too bad that music like this isn't really even made anymore. It hits deep because it is real.
why don't they create? there is me, the fifth element of pink floyd
And THIS is why they are my favorite band!! 😊
This is live from the PULSE concert in1994. You would enjoy seeing it also. Light show and production are excellent. Other songs from that concert to do are "Comfortably Numb" and "Great Gig in the sky"
biker i have the concert DVD OF THE pulse concert And DAVID Gilmore's guitar solo ON THE SONG COMFORTABLY NUMB is considered to be THE BEST ONE EVER

Pulse was a SPECTACULAR concert, but you're only hearing the audio here. Floyd's light shows are legendary. But then, you know this.
Played this to a friend who had never heard it before, I played it in a pitch black room. Unbelievable.
Got to agree with you, after watching them listen,I thought the lady was a bit bit bored, but sincere apologies!!! You really get it, thank you.👍👍
One doesnt just listen to Pink Floyd, one goes on a journey with Pink Floyd. Gotta watch the ENTIRE Pulse Tour from.start to finish.
One of my favorites by Pink. The live version at the PULSE concert is pretty dynamic. Thanks for showing.

What you mean is the actual video from the concert as the audio in the video they reacted to is the Pulse version :P
The greatest concert in the history of the galaxy.
I envy you and your recent new discovery of Pink Floyd. I wish I could have that feeling again of hearing them for the first time. They have been my go-to band for the last thirty years for every significant event in my life. Pain. Sorrow. Happiness. Peace....They have always been with me.
This is from the PULSE concert
It's really a shame you didn't use the video from the 1994 Pulse concert. In this video you can see David Gilmour "taming" his Stratocaster and the stage lighting in conjunction with the music is fascinating...
By the way, this is the same concert that you made a response to "Comfortably Numb" from.
❓
Now how about actually WATCHING this live version from Pulse. Even better!!
Love your reactions!!
Growing up when I was young it was early 80's and we had so many different bands doing different types of music I cant believe looking back i
know this is nothing to do with the song ,when we were a more nationalised country it really was full
Of probably the best music ever in that period compared to today's there's no effort anymore in using the instruments, pink floyd was very much influenced by ww2 and the system we had in place in this country around then it has changed im 48 and certainly missing it all ,have a nice day to whoever browses over my comment 😊
No idea what you're talking about.
and thats why, loved kids PF is one of the greatest bands ever
Floyd makes you think when you listen to it, long after the music stops my friends, ha. Great reaction also guys!
I .Agree.
Love to see young people enjoying Pink Floyd. Love your alien comments too. I’ m with you on that. Lol.
My God. Love you. "I honestly think there are aliens and their name is Pink Floyd." What a great line
This is THE best piece from A Momentary Lapse of Reason. Pulse version is mazing...
ETA: Too bad you guys don't have the lyrics video...
ETA2:
[Verse 1]
The sweet smell of a great sorrow lies over the land
Plumes of smoke rise and merge into the leaden sky:
A man lies and dreams of green fields and rivers
But awakes to a morning with no reason for waking
He’s haunted by the memory of a lost paradise
In his youth or a dream, he can’t be precise
He’s chained forever to a world that’s departed
It’s not enough, it’s not enough
[Verse 2]
His blood has frozen and curdled with fright
His knees have trembled and given way in the night
His hand has weakened at the moment of truth
His step has faltered
[Bridge]
One world, one soul
Time pass, the river roll
[Verse 3]
And he talks to the river of lost love and dedication
And silent replies that swirl invitation
Flow dark and troubled to an oily sea
A grim intimation of what is to be
There’s an unceasing wind that blows through this night
And there’s dust in my eyes, that blinds my sight
And silence that speaks so much louder than words
Of promises broken
Yes!!!
Sorrow!! It's been a long time since I've heard this song. There has to be Pink Floyd in the afterlife. Because it's a permanent experience
Do Learning to Fly next!
“There's an unceasing wind that blows through this night
And there's dust in my eyes that blinds my sight
And silence that speaks so much louder than words
Of promises broken”
A post nuclear holocaust world...
The wind is the solar winds caused by the detonation. The dust is what's left of the world blowing in his eyes. The silence is the lack of life, the promises of no nuclear war obviously was broken.
Dave's best lyrics.
I give them credit for their 'futuristic' sound...the guitar solo was awesome!
Gotta watch the Pulse video of this song. David Gilmores playing is legendary.
We did pulse and my wife fell out. Completely blown away.
@@TheAdventuresofTNT Welcome to the world. Welcome to Pink Floyd. Hold on now.
David Gilmore is going to grab your soul and show you his.
I get this from the song a man who has lost everything in his life looking at past mistakes contemplating suicide glad he never went through the act dark but musically out of this universe
Great video ! David Gilmore was once adked his secret. He said its simple. I hit a note, i bend it, i shake it, and i let it go.
The master.
A killer song from them. So great to hear what you thought of this. Would like to add if you've never heard the song Brain Damage from 1973s Dark Side Of The Moon album, check it out. The lyrics alone will make you put on your thinking cap.
It's about depression to me. Dreaming of paradise but waking to no reason to go on...
Check out on the turning away. On delicate sound of thunder concert
I've never been but I need to go. They have Pink Floyd Laser light shows at OMSI in Portland, OR.
