Pool guy here- next time your pool turns green, backwash your filter real good, drop your pH to the low side (7.0-7.2), shock your pool with liquid chlorine (1 gallon chlorine per 5k gallons of water), add a good phosphate remover, and then let that filter run 24/7. Check your chems daily and make sure to maintain a chlorine level of 7-10 ppm until the pool clears. It never hurts to maintain a clean filter throughout the process as well, so don’t be afraid to do a quick backwash every 2-3 days until the pool clears.
Sidenote: if your cyanuric acid is consistently high when your pool keeps turning green (say over 150 ppm) you’ll continue having this green pool issue until you drain and refill your pool with fresh water. High CYA causes chlorine lock, neutralizing whatever amounts of chlorine that are present in your pool. You can unlock your free chlorine by adding an oxidizer weekly, but that gets pretty expensive.

I use PoolRx in almost all my pool route in the summer, works great, specially when theres heavy usage and lots of chemicals demand, i have try other algecides, what i love the most is that kills even yellow algae which is very tuff to kill, your pool looking nice, i would recommend using clarifier, sand filters dont filter enough, so the clarifier makes particles bigger so that the sand filter can filter :) and is not expensive

      What clarifier do you use?

I used it for the 1st time this year. Worked great on the mustard algae. I wait 2 1/2 weeks before backwashing. When I did it seemed to stop working and the algae came back. Can you back wash with pool rx in?

Thank u , this is a God send. I'm a 58 year old woman who cares for the pool all by myself and my grandchildren depend on Grandma cause they all love to swim and I m very overwhelmed with pool care when it turns green. If this solves my problems I will be eternally greatful as will be the grandchildren. Bless u for the making of this video , I need to look up prices and do a little more research. This is safe to swim in while the pool rx is in use in the pool basket??

Looks fantastic. I had what was basically a pond and I slammed it for about 8 days to 14 ppm free chlorine, that's what got it to finally clear up. Lots of vacuuming to waste though, and I keep getting dirt on the bottom that I need to vacuum to waste - if I don't, it will form green spots of algae on the liner and that will then require a bunch more chlorine to clear out so I need to maintain it properly. That's all without a PoolRx, I may get one if it keeps requiring a lot of chlorine.

Your pool store is likely the problem. There’s no way that your water chemistry is “perfect” and at the same time it’s green despite shocking twice. You could have CYA too high or too low which are both major problems. Could also have elevated phosphates which is basically fertilizer for algae. Lots of bad advice is given by retail pool counter staff - try a different store. This should be easy to fix

I had a lot of issues like yours with my pool. Green water, mosquito larvae, leaks, after a lot of shocking, floc, algaecide, and chlorine tabs when costco actually got some in. I purchased a solar copper ionizer and it really helped get to a clean and safe pool. Also the water is a lot softer due to ionization and removing iron, calcium, and potassium

I’m going to have to check into that solar copper ionizer

I bought that before from Costco also, it works but was a pain in the A$$ to clean the copper, it was pretty disgusting once it got all mucked up.

I don’t know if you’re doing this just to perform an extreme test on the PoolRx or you’re just not well-informed. The product is not meant for this kind of application. You should get your pool back in shape before applying PoolRx. Even if you could get it back to blue you’re still wasting expensive minerals on the concentrated algae, which you can kill cheaply with liquid chlorine.

After 24 hours of pool Rx, there is improvement and I can see the bottom. It needs to be vacuumed, can I vacuum the pool?

I would shock the pool and then after 8 hours bush it down good.I drop a pool cleaner in with pool running. Then I would use thr pool RX

Do you own A brush? The level on the first two days looked below any possible skimmer.

So do you think it was the Pool Rx that made your water clear. I would of liked to see the ladder in there again like last year to really see as a comparison. Our water is slightly cloudy and gets a clear like very thin slime on the sides. I'm wondering if this may help. What do you think?

I clean HOA pools for a living what you need in your pool is cynruic in there to help the chlorine last longer and it’s ok to boost your chlorine higher than a 1-3ppm
