Hi, thanks for the great video! I’ve been using this product for a couple of years now and it works great! This last one I just bought though, after putting it in and starting pool back up, it completely plugged my pool filter up. It seemed like everything came out at once. Have you come across that and what should I do. It’s been in two months now and pool is starting to get algae in it. It’s always worked great before. Thanks!
I added PoolRX to my pool 30 days ago. I just hand an algae bloom. Chlorine was at .5ppm but I shocked over the weekend. PH at 8 and alkalinity is 111. Pool was crystal clear yesterday. Open the cover today and it looked cloudy, and then turned green in the sun. Any idea what went wrong? I add a gallon of liquid chlorine every other day. 2500 gallon pool. I stopped using algicide when I added the pool RX.
After a day of super shocking, the color did not change. This leads me to believe I have copper oxidation. I refill my pool with well water. And I think the copper level raised to the point it finally oxidized. I did not use a filter on my hose. I just learned I should be trying to filter out minerals out of refill water. I do use a particulate filter. But that is not taking out my Iron and copper. Any tips on steps needed to remove the copper and get my pool back to clear are appreciated. I just ordered some CU test strips and a CU later.
Dave, I enjoy watching all your videos, very informative!! After watching your video about Bioguard optimizer I've decided to use this product. My question is, with the bioguard, would using the poolrx product be redundant or maybe counter productive?
I use this product on my diatomaceous earth filter and it clog the filter up within two hours and I had to turn it off and bumped the handle and within two hours it went so high again I had to turn it off so what is the problem?
I had my pool water checked at my pool store. My results say that my copper level is .03% Is this enough for me to be concerned about before using my new Pool RX?
I really enjoy your videos! You’ve helped me understand the fundamentals to help me maintain my own pool. Dumb question, but if I have a DE filter I am assuming that after I clean my filter, I should proceed to add DE before Installing the pool rx correct? Thanks!
I hope you get this because I know this is an older video. I need to know; if the pool rx doesn't fit in my pool pump basket, I put in in the skimmer basket... Can I leave the whole unit in there?? Or did I just waste 80.00?
David any thoughts on the Baracuda Ranger unit? I have the G2 now but my local pool man said the Ranger works just as well even tbo it's advertised for above ground pools. (I have a below ground 12k Sq ft pool in south Florida). Thanks!
@@SPL awesome thanks for the info. If I stick with the main units what are thoughts on g2 vs g3? I got the g2 on your recommendation it required less sucking power than the g3 (pretty sure you mentioned that in one of your videos). It lasted ted me 9 years so far with changing out most of the parts. I don't think they sell it anymore tho. I liked that I could give more preference to my skimmer than my side port cleaner since I have little bugs on the surface I wanna skim. Any recommendations are appreciated tho
Its not. If you keep your chlorine 7.5% of your stabilizer you are golden. Its when you over tab your pool and get up to a 150 cya you will need over a 10ppm chlorine. Also phosphates should never be an issue. There's lots of snake oil in the industry. Phosohate removers included.. I'm a pool pro my general rule is if has copper I steer clear of any products containing biguanide or copper. I don't introduce metals. I've stained 3 accounts and the VP stated there had to be already high amounts of copper but when we test for metals non show on our Lamott test . If its truly chelated then low low amounts of metals shouldn't had caused our staining issues. Also low ph supposedly can cause pool rx to fail. Again keep all chems in spec. My issue was his way of resolving our problems. Was more of deflecting than resolving. Pool rx has worked on some pools but I've learned keep pool in specs and take care of your filtration and you are golden.
Great info David, I never new that the Customers Hair color would change under certain conditions
In the ideal wrong conditions - yes. Good hearing from you man! 👍

Maybe contact PoolRx and see what they say. That shouldn't happen.
@@SPL Thanks for the reply!

It's possible it's just high copper in the water. When the chlorine level drops the water should be blue again
I keep mine in the skimmer, but you mentioned that might not be safe. Should I not touch it and take it out each time I clean out my skimmer ?
YOu can touch and remove it briefly. The only danger is throwing it away on accident.

Also, where do flowtrons fit in to the equation?
I would say it would be like going out in a rainstorm with an umbrella and a rain coat on. A little redundant.
@@SPL Thanks David!! Wasn't sure of the whole chemistry thing. Take care and keep the great information video coming!!

You're right on the edge there. It might be fine
i added the pool rx just now before seeing video..my chlorine level was 7.4 so should i remove it and wait for it to drop to 3.0?
Should be fine unless someone plans on swimming this week.
How long do I keep this in the pump basket?
Up to 6 months.

Yes, add DE and then the PoolRx after that. 👍
Looks like they have added a product called Pool RX Plus. What advantages does the Pool RX Plus have over the regular Pool Rx?
Not a major difference really. But a little better I have been told.
I hope you get this because I know this is an older video. I need to know; if the pool rx doesn't fit in my pool pump basket, I put in in the skimmer basket... Can I leave the whole unit in there?? Or did I just waste 80.00?
Yes, it works fine in the skimmer basket.
After adding pool rx copper level went up do i have to drop back in range with metsl free?
Not at this time. Because the copper is suspended you will get false high readings when using the PoolRx.

It is a solid choice. Interestingly if you Google: Zodiac G2 Australia - you will see that it looks suspiciously like the US Zodiac Ranger.

@@theroachmotel Yes, the Ranger is a good buy.
Can I use this with a jacuzzi cyclonic pre filter ?
No. For that you will have to install a Nature2 Mineral system.
Thanks Dave. Funny I have the Nature 2 already installed. I have not replaced the cartridge in years since a pool store told me it did not work.
Hello man quick question will Pool rx affect calcium hardness? Is bad to use it if calcium hardness high?
No effect on calcium hardness.
I bought the pool rx booster. I opened the bottle and it is pretty solid. Is it still good or should I return it?
Still good. That is normal.
@@SPL Hahahaha! Thanks; I wish they would write that on the package or show the blue clump as being normal
How about the booster? can you do a video about the pool rx booster?
I will add that to the list. 👍
I have been using copper ionization and my pool has been perfect with minimal chlorine! why is this better?
I am not sure what product you are using. But PoolRx is EPA certified and NSF 50 rated. So the safety of this product has been independently verified.
