    And here we are again with another extra video about my Honda CX 650 cafe racer project.
    It is not enough to see how everything is going to end up, but it is sufficient, to know that it is going to look very good.
    This is the second video about it, since the project started.
    The motorcycle model is a 1984 Honda CX 650 Custom, but i also labed the video title with CX 500, just to help the video being found on youtube.
    I will bring more news about the developments of the project very soon.
    I also present some interesting tips about 2 beautiful rear gas shock absorbers, and a new pair of rearset of footpegs which are sold by TEC Bike Parts.
    I really recommend you check them out.
    Enjoy
    My special thanks to Pedro Torres, for his great help with my english.
    If you are interested on the excellent Rear Gas Shock Absorbers presented on this video, they are sold by "TEC Bike Parts".

    Unfortunately it was not possible to access the internet these days, I was able to go out with several friends to travel a lot on motorcycles and I barely had time to write. I could quickly see the progress of the Honda CX 500 / CX 650 project. I can only say I like it. I found information on parts such as rear suspension or handlebars very important. Finally dear friend, a little delayed, but with many kilometers traveled on my Geely Chinese motorcycle that now sports a completely illegal 250cc engine haha, I still did not register the change, I preferred the open road instead. I look forward to the third part of this saga of mechanical construction and love of motorcycles. Muitas saudações cordiais e encaminhar com esse projeto

    That high profile of this tank, on a classical setup is going to be something worth to check!...and that alloy custom made wheel center hub is truly the kind of details that separate amateurs from people who knows what they are doing IMHO. I will wait not very patiently for part 3! Thanks for sharing your wonderful videos, and with that relaxing documentary-kind of voice you have is truly perfect for my coffee breaks! Love the slight forward rake angle the tank has, makes the bike look like it's always moving. Will play really well with the exhaust angle you're planning! Your spoked wheel and tire choice is difficult now, but will really pay off into making this CX stand above the crowd, as well as the Monza tank cap. Exciting! Cheers from your Canadian friends.

    Caro Amigo,

    I’ve never been a fan of Comstar wheels, personally for me they have to be some of the worst looking things Honda ever did, (just my opinion obviously). The transformation that these spoked wheels give is absolutely fantastic. I know all custom work is personal, but carry on like this and you are going to have a cracking bike 👍😁.

      Lol. To be honest, that name already crossed my mind when i was editing this video. The only problem, is that after the paint job, the weldings on the fuel tank are not going to be visible no more. But considering that most parts came from several different motorcycles, the "frankenstein" name makes some sense. I am going to think about that. Have to say,
    I am still very jealous of your having the 650 !
    However, beyond that, your fuel tank is of course in the roughing out stages at this point, so coming from a six year old, guess I can understand the Frankenstein response to it !
    They all have to go through the what I call the " ugly " stages, before they can be beautiful !
    Extremely impressed with your choice of rear shocks !
    Will have to look into these in the U.S. !
    Looking forward to seeing your next installment !

The funny thing about the "Frankenstein " , is that several fans of this channel already suggested me, that "Frankenstein " is a perfect name for this bike. The only problem, is that after the paint job, the weldings on the fuel tank are not going to be visible no more. But considering that most parts came from several different motorcycles, the "frankenstein" name makes some sense. I am going to think about that. :) Cheers.

      I may be jumping ahead of your next few videos, but I am curious to know what your thoughts are on the radiator.
      Are you planning on utilizing the original CX radiator, or perhaps something a bit different ?
      This is my personal challenge at the moment for my CX project at the moment.
      I have looked at the
      V-Rod radiator, and a few others, but I still am having a few reservations.
      Looking forward to seeing or hearing what you might be thinking of in that design treatment !

    • @RACER_TV
      @RACER_TV  6 років тому

      That is a good question about the radiator. On my project, i will keep the radiator stock, because it is not as intrusive as i initially thought it would be.
      But i recognize that on the GL or on the CX deluxe model, the radiator cap can create some limitations with the fuel tank.
      Here is a suggestion. On the Honda CX500 by Sacha Lakic Design, he has chosen a honda CBR 125 radiator, and 2 small electric fans. Maybe it will work. :)

    Se há diversos caminhos à seguir numa customização, um que eu não seguiria é o do "excêntrico", como ex. a super badalada CX 500 da Auto Fabrica ou BMW 1200 Giulio Paz. Nada contra, são magníficas.. apenas não combinam com minha personalidade.
    Mas também tentaria evitar ser demasiado "convencional" pois nesse caso uma Thruxton, uma CB 1100 RS ou ainda uma acessível e de fácil manutenção Royal Continental GT me polparia algo que tá cada vez mais escasso e precioso: o tempo. Para mim só faz sentido investir tempo numa customização se for criar um "diferencial" que a justifique.
    Digo isso pois vejo que você optou pelo que eu chamaria de "tradicional", pessoalmente seria a minha escolha e, nunca esquecendo que é você o mestre e eu o aprendiz, em minha humilde opinião as duas principais oportunidades de diferencial em seu projeto agora é justamente o tanque e o conjunto ótico frontal. E aproveito aqui pra transmitir o recado por whatsapp da minha mulher: "O farol é a cara da moto" rsrs.. Boa semana Vitor.

    • @RACER_TV
      @RACER_TV  6 років тому +1

      Meu caro amigo, concordo com tudo o que você disse, e é mesmo por esse caminho que este projecto vai. Se está a gostar da evolução do depósito e do farol da frente, espere só até ver o assento e a rabeta. Digo isto porque a abordagem é igualmente tradicional, mas com alguns detalhes que vão fazer toda a diferença. Também o farol da frente que já é bastante bonito, a forma como este será fixado na moto, também é bastante original e bonita de se ver. Mas isso terá que ficar para o a parte 3 da construcção (Espero eu). A sua Esposa tem toda a razão. :) Um grande abraço.

    • @robinsonpeixoto8521
      @robinsonpeixoto8521 6 років тому

      Sei que me falta uma compreensão maior sobre o projeto, a visualização da relação entre as partes e o tipo de resultado esperado.. então, pelo menos por enquanto, tenho as seguintes considerações em relação ao tanque: A base arredondada e "enchida" da modificação me pareceu ter deixado o tanque gordo e oblongo.. de forma alguma diria que está feio e sim que apenas acho que poderia ficar melhor ( tenho ciência que isso tem a ver com meu gosto pessoal ).
      Pausei o vídeo inúmeras vezes p/ observar e continuo com a impressão de que talvez sua ideia original, bem trabalhada e implementada, possa dar um ar mais musculoso, esguio e elegante. Devo lembrar também que gostos pessoais jamais serão exatamente os mesmos e acredito que, no fundo, há ainda cartas na sua manga rs..
      De qualquer forma, acredito que esteja avaliando a melhor solução para você, sua moto e seu caso específico, de acordo com a SUA preferência. Mas o que realmente importa, mesmo, é que esta moto fique EXATAMENTE COMO VOCÊ QUER, pois não é todo dia que temos a oportunidade de realizar sonhos. : ) Torço por você meu amigo.

    Hey, great to see your project moving forward. Are the laced hubs from Cognito Moto? Shocks are indeed very expensive, I'm about to drop 1000GBP on a set of Nitron on my current proejct and that's the second biggest expense of the build...But the donnor bike is a big, heavy machine so I can't really afford to go cheap. Tank looks great. I'm really curious to see where it will go because on the last images, it feels much more tracker /scrambler than CR, I can't wait to see the next steps. Good luck!!!

    Gosto de ver fazer peças para servir apenas o propósito de que é necessário e de que sem eles não era a mesma coisa, também sou dessa opinião. Por falar nisso, preciso de um torneiro pois daqueles que tenho usado, um demora uma eternidade e fica perto e o outro é rápido mas fica do outro lado do mundo. Tem alguma sugestão?
    Os Phantom têm dos pisos mais bonitos de todos os pneus clássicos, só parados já parece que vão nas horas. Por azar meu não tem as medidas para o meu projecto.
    Os amortecedores pelo preço e possibilidades de adaptação têm um preço do outro mundo,
    O trabalho no depósito ficou bem melhor do que "apenas" direito como estava na folha colada embora se o rebaixo fosse feito um bocadinho mais à frente ( depois da cabeça começar a abrir) acho que ainda ficaria melhor e faria com que a frente ficasse mais equilibrada e mais musculada além de ir também disfarçar aquele volume negro do radiador fazendo com que não saísse tanto.
    Com um mecânico a trabalhar chapa daquela maneira não aprecio a solução da chapa de "fixação" do depósito, ele facilmente fazia desaparecer aquele rebaixo da tampa do depósito. Aquele tipo de pousa-pés também não me agradam muito em nenhum sítio, mas a solução de afinação sim. Opiniões.

    • @robinsonpeixoto8521
      @robinsonpeixoto8521 6 років тому

      Paulo G Poderia por favor explicar mais detalhadamente sobre esse "rebaixo", "cabeça" e seus pontos de vista sobre o depósito? Também tenho algumas considerações sobre isso.

    • @RACER_TV
      @RACER_TV  6 років тому

      Obrigado amigo por partilhar a sua opinião. Conseguir bons torneiros para um determinado trabalho, è quase como jogar no Euromilhoes. Depende da complexidade do trabalho, e da vontade de trabalhar do mesmo. Mas se for do Norte de Portugal, tente a empresa "Rectificadora de Guimarães". Eles fazem muita coisa, e são bastante Profissionais. Acho que quis dizer que o "rebaixe" da parte inferior do deposito, deveria preencher um pouco mais o espaço entre o motor e tapar o tampão do radiador.
      Curiosamente, essa foi a minha primeira abordagem no desenho que fiz no photoshop.
      No papel ficou muito bem, mas na prática, o meu Mecânico disse logo que não iria resultar, já que a mesa inferior da forqueta batia no deposito, o que iria limitar drásticamente o ângulo de viragem da direcção.
      Só não percebi o que disse sobre a "chapa de "fixação". De que chapa está a falar?
      :) Um abraço.

    • @paulojrg
      @paulojrg 6 років тому

      Isto com uns desenhos ou "in situ" era mais fácil mas lá vai; por volta do minuto 5 (em que o mecânico está a rebarbar os acrescentos ao depósito) existe uma linha vermelha que desce, é aí o rebaixo a que me refiro - vem de um nível e passa para outro. Aos 5:20 e depois aos 5:44 em que se vê o depósito sobre a mota existe um estrangulamento da linha de proporções junto à cabeça do motor, que na CX é um "V" aberto (o que quero dizer é que as saídas de escape também fazem um "V", uma em relação à outra e afastam-se do depósito muito rapidamente) e a ponta mais alta da cabeça da mota coincide com o fim do rebaixo, se o fim do rebaixo fosse uns 10/12cm mais à frente (depois da vela) iria distribuir melhor os cheios e vazios.
      Espero ter sido claro.

    • @paulojrg
      @paulojrg 6 років тому

      Agradecido pela dica. Embora não seja do norte penso que mesmo assim é mais fácil comunicar com alguém em português.
      Eu não iria tão longe ao ponto de tentar tapar o tampão do radiador e na minha resposta acima ao Robinson já expliquei o meu ponto de vista.
      Em relação à "chapa de "fixação" refiro-me ao que chama de "stainless steel strip" a partir do minuto 4:00.
      Um abraço

    • @RACER_TV
      @RACER_TV  6 років тому

      Já entendi. Curiosamente também cheguei a experimentar essa hipótese, mas achei que ficava demasiado subtil. Mas no dia em que o mecânico terminou o aumento sob o deposito, e quando vi aquele corte do deposito alinhado pelas alhetes da culaça do cilindro, e a parte inferior do tal rebaixe mais horizontal, percebi que as linhas ficariam mais agressivas, para além de respeitar a regra dos 3/4, que é basicamente a "Proporção divina" da qual já falei várias vezes. Ou seja, conforme está actualmente, parece-me sem duvida ser a melhor abordagem para o projecto. :)

    Queria ter coragem e recursos pra fazer uma transformação destas na minha Bandit 650/08!!!

      Meu caro amigo. Para ser sincero, um dia se tiver recursos para uma boa transformação, tente fazê-lo com outra moto. Digo isto apenas por que o quadro da Bandit não tem as linhas apropriadas para uma boa e típica cafe racer. Até pode ser possível alterar isso, mas nunca iria compensar tanto trabalho e esforço. No meu caso, só tive coragem de começar a construção deste projecto com a CX 650, depois de ter a certeza absoluta de que a mota ía ficar linda. Mas isso, só aconteceu depois de 1 ano com muitos desenhos e tentativas falhadas. :) Um abraço.

      Ronaldo Ferreira Sou fã das Bandit, por coincidência em 2008 eu quase comprei uma, estava na dúvida entre a boa oferta da Bandit e a "novidade" CB 1300. Já estava quase fechando negócio quando na última hora decidi pela CB.. e o fator decisivo na escolha foi questão puramente pessoal e estética: os enormes amortecedores da CB. Hoje por necessidade tenho big trail mas sempre que vejo uma Bandit paro p/ olhar rs..

      Thanks. I am really sorry my friend, but unfortunately this is one of those secrets that i can't reveal. It took me a lot of time and effort to find this robotic voice. I hope you understand me. But i can give you a suggestion. Try the Neospeech software with "Hugh" male UK voice, which is also very good. :) Cheers.

    That's really interesting, but could you make a video about the total cost? Because I'm planning to build myself a CX400

      Thanks. Interesting suggestion for a video.
      But it would be also a irrelevant to most Viewers, because the value of old motorcycles, cost of labour and aftermarket parts, is very different between Countries.
      This means that it is very difficult to get a right conclusion for a video with this kind of analysis. All i can say, is that it is expensive. It is expensive enough to buy a new motorcycle with the same horse power.
      But thanks for the suggestion. :) Cheers.

      Mostrar menos

      RACER TV Thanks for the wise answer, as you're in portugal and I'm in France, the prices should be approximetly the same. But It's sad, Ill probably won't have enough with 2000€
