And here we are again with the part 4 video about my Honda CX 650 cafe racer project.
It is almost finished, which means that this video, is about the final phase of the building process.
But on this episode, you are finally able to see it running on the road.
And i finally can reveal the identity of my Secret Mechanic.
The builder of this machine, is Leonel Ribeiro, owner of "Oficina das Motas", located in Portugal.
It is very likely that my Honda CX 650 is already finished, on the day of the publication of this video.

Not gonna lie, but Im in school for engineering just because of your videos. Because all I want to do for the rest of my life is make motorcycles and ride them. This video coalesced all the thoughts, images, and ideas of what I want to build in a cafe style bike. The exhaust note of that bike sealed my fate. I’d been leaning towards an in-line four or boxer, but the uniqueness of that v-twin design is the simplicity and breakout look that I’ve been seeking. I’ll go back and watch the other videos as I’m interested in the difficulties you may have encountered wrt the reliability and ease of maintenance of that engine. Your videos do a wonderful job of articulating what bands us together. Unfortunately, just like the smile on a dog’s face - not everyone can see it. Keep up the great work.

Vai parecer loucura, mas fiquei emocionado ao ver o video, sempre foi meu sonho ter a minha própria "cafe racer" e consegui, mas agora depois de um ano com ela, serei obrigado a me desfazer, isso parte meu coração... mas a vida é assim, as vezes precisamos dar um passo para trás, para andarmos dois para frente.. esta ficando incrível e realmente estou curioso para ver ela pronta. ... Part 4, and you're on the road!
I shut down the laptop and went over to my desktop with its large monitor and speakers. Then started with Parts 1, 2, and 3 before gooning Part 4. One thing you always try to teach us, Racer, is patience. And it was so worth it! There was suspense, sure; but when the world's most passionate caff' racer theorist, philosopher and aesthete creates his own project, what can go wrong, right? Eddie G. described his reaction -- and mine! -- so wonderfully: I have nothing to add. Can't wait until next week, when you roll out the "dirty" Frankenstein fuel tank! Better luck with the weather at this year's DGR!

What an excellent presentation here. Your motorcycle sounds amazing and about your mysterious fuel tank at first I thought you were using a plastic bottle that comes with Sprite soda, Fanta or something like that, I've seen that kind of application before and it is very ingenious. I'm sure your motorcycle will look and be amazing.

Wow! He made an excellent machine. Bettering the factory one. Took oout the stamped plating of the frame swapping it with steel tubing. A better fork aswell Bettering sturdiness and handling and most important, the beauty, the art!

It sound's like you chose the right pipe's, it sound's very good, and the gear select is special, a true custom part, I love the " Mechanicalness" of it, i try to put at least one custom piece on all of mine, maybe something like that might be on a future one (ha ha). It show's you chose your builder wisely, from the excellent attention to detail. Excellent presentation once again, and i hope you have a safe journey next week . p's don't forget to show all your "custom" touches to those with kits (I can't abide kit's).

Fun aside - it's really, really beautiful. If you have an eye for detail you can not oversee it!

Well, what can I say? One week! It's going to look like a month, but I'm sure the wait will be worth it as if it were a year. The sound of the engine anticipates the final result. The ride with a plastic tank is common in my country, I have seen them on Chinese 125cc motorcycles in the shape of an empty bottle of Coca Cola, it is more difficult in Europe with such damn regulation, the good thing that there was not a cop in sight. But seeing that bike rolling and singing that beautiful note was worth the risk. Enjoy the time in the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride, to show off the Distinguished Honda CX 500 / CX 650! And do not hesitate to enjoy a francesinha in Porto my friend ¡Saludos!

RACER TV photography is superb. I have had 15 motorcycles in my youth including several cafe racers.Rickman 950 Kawasaki,Rare CB 72 Honda scrambler that was raced here on Australian circuit.I wish I still had them as well as my Yamaha SR 500, XS650,CB 750 etc.I think my Honda Gold wing 1000 with custom exhausts and dropped handlebars had the best sound around.
Thanks to Racer Tv for stirring up my 67year old memories.
I will be building one more bike for short fun riding in the beautiful Australian countryside.

Ontem, véspera da sempre aguardada manhã de sexta, dia de RACER TV, eu comentava com eles que a sua moto deveria estar ficando pronta porque eu também participo do DGR e imaginava que seria um bom momento para sua apresentação. Acertei no palpite!!!!!
Acertei porque, aqui no Rio de Janeiro dois amigos vão estrear uma moto customizada no evento. Não se trata de uma Cafe Racer (que pena) mas eles se progranaram para o 30 de setembro com afinco. Creio que e uma data perfeita para a estreia de motos assim.

0:08 Wow! So cleeeean, and pretty... sounds awesome, too. My guess is your hiding the fuel in the frame. I didn't see a bladder of any kind.
hmm... now that I look at it again, I see a white tank with a filler neck, low in the frame there. Assuming that's not the radiator overflow, that could be the gas tank, I guess.
So, where is the tank? What's the answer?
