I'm in full agreement with your front end fork rant. This is a classic. Howevere the rear end seems a little spare... maybe repositioning the tops of the shocks just a little bit forward? Hope the new owner is happy! I had several cx500's in the 90's, they were popular hacks for courier riders in London and festooned the Ace Cafe and other hangouts with their rattey presence. Finally I got my hands on a custom with a 16" rear which stuck like glue compared to the standard rear wheel. This bike was dispagueingly known as the plastic maggot, hardly complimentary, I nevertheless had a strong appreciation of their basic V twin beauty, so it's cool to see their resurgent popularity 😂

Was going well right up to the 'looks out of place". If what it looks like dictated your front end choice, then the whole thing is compromised BS. Tyre choice, no mudguard, pod filters, front indicator led rings, it's all just a set of poser fashion accessory decisions, that put the heart of the thing second. The motor braided front lines and front pots are keepable, the rest is "my little pony" f'ed.

Sorry, I looked through some of my receipts and can't seem to locate it. I purchased several sets on Partzilla for different vintage motorcycles and the ones that ended up working were for a Suzuki but I can't remember the year or model. One thing I didn't think about until later that you might want to consider: I had like 3 different sets of plugs that were all really close but a slightly different thread pitch. I probably could have just asked Frank's Forks to re-thread the tubes to match one of those sets after they cut them down. It would have saved me a lot of hunting around for the plugs that ended up working.
@@tari0048 yeah I think it's cheaper for you to buy stock motorcycles but it's more expensive when making custom one, at least if you hire someone to do it for you If you were going to do it yourself, I think it would be more affordable for you, but that also depends on the kind of a bike, how much parts are available near you and what are costs for importing parts Nonetheless, it's much easier in the USA or Germany than Poland or Denmark
I'd LOVE to know where you got em! I want some cleaner looking footpegs too for me and my passenger, but foldable, because I'm used to riding my cbr600rr and even scraping those pegs😅😂. It's a much safer option for me
If I remember correctly I swapped to the Deluxe footpeg mounts from the Customs (which sit further forward). Google "ncy ruckus footpegs", I'm pretty sure that is what I used. Looking at my notes I wrote something about some slight fabrication we did on the passenger peg mounts to keep the new pegs from rotating since we were no longer running the stock exhaust. Maybe that will make more sense to you. Its been a few years.

Nice! I rebuilt my '82 cx at 100,000 km (about 64k miles) and it was solid as a rock. These engines are bulletproof. Good build!

I had one of these bikes back in the 90's. was a great bike. this is probably the coolest cafe conversion of a cx500 I have seen!! Great job.

yep, it is a mosfet R/R. you definitely want to do that if switching to a lithium battery.
