Finally one CX 500 really nicely done!!!, as a modern cafe racer should be, congratulations to owner-builder, hope to see it on a Racer TV presentation soon!! 🤩👍🏻👍🏻
You can tell you both had a lot of fun!!! Highlights for me is the Little Shxts intro! Heard motobike theft is big in London, but hearing from someone on the ground is confirmation! Lastly the bloopers were hilarious 😆!
I had a bog standard CX500 ... lovely comfy to ride bike... The colour of yours is very similar to a Jaguar colour...Adriatic Blue... which was the colour of my first Jag.
CX500 was a great bike anyway, I had one, snobs didn't like it, real people did. Amazing how it keeps fathering specials 40-years on. 70k was a fair mileage, I'd like to have heard more about what was done to renovate the motor. How much wear did you find in the bores? New piston rings? What about the valve train and especially the cam-chain tensioner? I remember this could be an issue although not on my bike. No mirrors? In London? Not for me, but each to their own. It's a nice-looking thing, you must be very chuffed with it.
I really like the design ! Only 2 things I would change it if was my bike . I would put on some air filters because I value my bike having a healthy engine for a long time and maby an undertail exhaust
My least favourite donor bike but a really nice build, I like the line through the bottom of the tank and through the seat. So many people get that wrong.
Hi. Just bought a basket case cx500 and adore your build. Would you share the specs you described in the video for a few please? It’ll take me a year at least to replicate what you’ve done, but I’d love to try. Please 🙏.😊
I'm not too keen on having open carbs and no mud guard to stop the dirt being thrown in by the rear tire. The engine is going to get worn really quick.
Beautiful! Though hopefully you can get some securities installed on that bike. Maybe an RFID based module to deter wankers from running beyond your remote's range (IF the bike is running), or with a tracker so the cops can pay them a visit to their home. Some unrelated experiences to share with you: I had worse during the rise of catalytic converter theft around 2020 on my Ford. Since then, my new cat has safeguard that takes grinding to literal hours for getting it out, and just precaution my bike also has a security pack with tracker included from Scorpio. Don't go cheap on your security after finalizing your bike's build, that's all.
I was thinking that too. Living in Britain, on a bike with no rear mudguard means a wet arse all day long when it inevitably rains. Maybe he carries a spare pair of undies, trousers, socks, shoes…maybe a shirt - that’s getting to be a fairly large man-purse!
I once bumped into a guy who had done 460.000 thousand miles on his cx from new dispatch rider of course 😉 bike was beaten to crap but engine still sounded sweet 😋 😉 👌
I wouldn't call it a polished turd like some because I owned various CXs for over 20 years, ridden all over the UK on them and have a soft spot for them. Looked after they were a solid reliable light tourer/hack. I'll admit I don't get the hipster cafe racer thing but your bike your money and all that. What I do take exception to is the compromised rear frame and suspension which is bad, possibly dangerous mod ( I wont call it engineering) The twin shock swinging arm was never designed to be stressed that way and I doubt that mod has ever been type approved. When Honda went to monoshock suspension on the CX range, they did it like engineers not cowboys. Pick up a 1983 Eurosport swinging arm and compare it to a 1980 one and you'll see immediately how the later ones are way sturdier than the early TS ones. They didn't just tack a lug on the frame tube either, it was all well thought out and built to a standard. Form over function IMO and way too much money thrown at a bike that isn't and never was any kind of racer.
I dislike this dude, stop cutting off the guy that actually built the bike. You are not as knowledgeable as he is. Play your role and be the curator and explain the inspiration and give credit to the guy that made it happen!
This is an attempt to polish a turd. I had the misfortune to ride a CX when the series was not long out of production. It stands as the worst handling bike I have ever experienced. I hoped despatch riders would have worn out all the ones left to the point of being scrapped. Unfortunately, some have survived. Customisers can put the best bits available on these monstrosities but the frame, swingarm & engine installation always limit the benefits. They were known as Plastic Maggots. That sums up their appeal really...
@@carlosgooglemaps94 I don't mind ridicule but my comment wasn't ignorant. I rode a CX & it was terrible. They were not liked much in their day & I don't see the appeal now. Honda got it wrong with that one. I think the only bike they made in the 70s that was worse was the CB500T. No doubt some misguided/nostalgic people like them as well then waste time, money & effort customising. It has to be said it's not worth it.
@@h2489-m2l It looks like the rear sets make the rider's knees straddle the cylinder heads which probably renders the bike impractical . The more I see, the worse it gets...
@@TheLudojay Yes, I noted that when I looked at the recesses cut into the tank. Very well executed but the heads seem like they would hit your shins if you used them.
Lovely bike - so wanted to hear it running!
Did you watch since the beginning??
Let’s goooooo, finally some content
Nice bike ! I have a 1982 CX Custom model I rode for 10 years and then stored in my shed. This vid may have just inspired me to drag it out.
Finally one CX 500 really nicely done!!!, as a modern cafe racer should be, congratulations to owner-builder, hope to see it on a Racer TV presentation soon!! 🤩👍🏻👍🏻
that 550 was goated. oh well new one is sick too
A video drop on my birthday! Much appreciate crew!
Ahhh mate! Happy birthday! Hope you have a great day and managed to fit in a ride!
@@BikeShedMotoCo not yet but will be doing so after work! Cheers
Nice build.. love the looks .. I see this in the shed just before Christmas 🤙
Yes! Been waiting long for some more bike shed content... Life is becoming normal ❤️
Great bike Harry

Great looking build. You can hear the passion from both guys, builder and owner.
Very nice. Bolt-on CX500 rearsets are available from Tarozzi and Slipstream.
It's lovely bike You have, even if there's not much left from original. Amazing work with those wheels.
Absolutely beautiful. Well done gents

Maybe a cross under exhaust between the rear sets
i wonder how it drives nice work guys !!
Absolutely beautiful bike! Clean lines!
Very, very nice. Congratulations.
The way jazz musicians like to riff on "I've Got Rhythm," custom shops like to work on the Honda CX500. :-)
what an awesome-looking bike. I wish I have one. :)
Where did you get the gauge with forks system?
Super nice!!! Well done!!! What was the total cost????
First feeling was...meh. BUT...there's a lot of great things and details in yhis bike. Would love to ride it, great work, man. Beautiful machine.
My least favourite donor bike but a really nice build, I like the line through the bottom of the tank and through the seat. So many people get that wrong.
The CX500 also known as 'Güllepumpe' (slurry pump) in Germany.
Sick bike 😍

Can you reveal the contact for the wheel builder in the isle of white? Love the build 😊
bloody brilliant
Silencers may need a little more development time Harry .?
Amazing how one of the world's pig ugliest bikes can be made into such a cool thing.
Pretty, Pretty damn cool !!!!
Great job!

No one keeps a custom long enough to care really… so why not just go for it.
Whats the tank from? Did I miss that?
Very nice job, would love to know the costs involved 🤔
Sound check....? I am not a fan of these Hondas but this is a nice clean build.
I'm new to riding but it's the front tire backwards?
What locks/security did you have on it when it got nicked?
“There ain’t much in London I haven’t touched.” 😂

how do you deal with the splash from the rear tire when the road is wet?

updates., that is sexy. Sorry to hear about the cx being stolen.
Some cool bike shit 😎 👌
Plastic pig ,we used to dispatch them in London, went on forever, this one actually looks great , regards Richard London UK 🇬🇧
How did you get a road worthy without a rear mudguard?

Just need to wear those tyres in a bit.

Looks more like a commercial this video.
Most people paint the helmet to match the bike! Not these hedonists!
…and then that silly numberplate. Ha’pennyworth o’ tar, innit?
Your casual attitude on theft is wrong, theft should be denounced, not accepted.
☹️
Start the damn bike for god sake 😅

It looks pretty but it's an awful lot of effort for so little performance, which is what a cafe conversion should be about for me.
