I was just told this video was making people watch ads every 60 seconds or so...I'm real sorry about that, guys! My goal with this channel from the beginning was monetization...I want it to fund my projects and toys, so ads are important to that goal...but I understand that too many is more damaging that good. I'm still figuring out the controls and settings, I appreciate everyone's patience while I find that balance between too much and "no money" :D
Nice build, doing all that grinding and welding with your carbs out and the intakes open though isn't something I'd recommend, also degreasing and painting the engine with all the open orifices probably wasn't the best idea either. Beautiful bike though.
So, how many competitions have you won... or should I just ask show many have you entered.... Beautiful build mate, you should be proud of this exquisite creation. Don’t forget to build another 10 and UA-cam the heck out of them, I will have the bell notifications on in anticipation. Again, well done mate, very well done. 🇦🇺👍🏻
what an incredible transformation, i love and own motorcycles. the engine looks brand new. i love this channel because you will have a stab at anything and everything. video quality needs some improvement but you mentioned your go-pro was broke the other day. TFW television ROCKS!
A lot of my video quality gets scaled down in production...I've always used windows movie maker because it's super easy, but it limits my output to 1080p/25fps...I'd prefer 1080/30, it looks a little better, but I'm now equipped to be able to shoot 2~4k. I'm playing with a new video editor program that will help my output and production quality.
They are really fun, neat little bikes. They are one of the most aesthetically pleasing bikes to tinker around with, in my opinion...and they're pretty cheap to find in rotting wrecks headed for scrap. That's what this one came from (and why I didn't mind chopping it up). I've had a few in the past, this is the only bike I've owned more than once.
How are you going to address your front wheel? Did you get lace rings for the rear or is is some other setup? I want to do laced wheels because it's the only way I'll be able to easily get a 4.5x17 on the back, and I can do it pretty inexpensively with rings and a cheap hoop off eBay...but setting something up for the front either needs a $400 hub just to start off, or even more money in machining to build an axle and spacers for the rotors and other hardware. I like the look of the R6 wheel with the Comstar on the back, but I would like to have a 160 back there.
It is "A Trip Around the Moon" by Unicorn Heads. They make a lot of music specifically to be used in UA-cam videos. I strongly recommend them. ua-cam.com/video/SLy15YdGiuU/v-deo.html
Why did you not go with the more modern rim that you started on? I am asking because I struggle doing away with the standard rim on my CX... Good video! Regards!
I may revisit the rear wheel but the options that I had available were just very well suited to adapting over. I spent quite a while carving out a GT650R rear wheel to try and make it work but there just wasn't enough material to mount the drive ring. The CX wheel is not "bad" and it lets me run a suitable tire...I may swap it out for a wider 17" wheel or do some laces some day.
I'm a subscriber on my main account ;)....or my "old" account....I don't know if I can consider my makenzie71 account my main anymore now that I'm so invest in this one haha
Ultimately I had to stick with the original CX500 Comstar wheel...the one I attempted to use in the video was a 17x4.5 alloy wheel from a Hyosung GT650R, but it was simply not cooperative.
Thanks! The forks are 2006 Yamaha YZF-R6R. The stem was the correct length. I had to use a set of conversion bearings from all balls racing to get them to fit.
@@ToysforWatts Thanks super! Looks like something I could do as well. Any idea which bearings or does all balls have them in their fork conversion chart?
You have to be careful about the years if you go with R6 forks is all I can really attest to...I don't know if I got the wrong year put in or what the bottom bearing they sent me was a mm too small. I just turned the stem down to correct it but it was a bit of a hassle. All balls has the whole chart listed...basically you'll select your bike and then the correct bearings for the donor bike will be displayed in a large list. www.allballsracing.com/forkconversion
What type of rear shock did you use, I mounted a r6 rear shock only to find that it didnt have enough travel and lacked in stiffness for the spring rate.
That's a really tough question...I usually collect parts "I might use some day" along the way, so I had almost everything on site already. I buy anything that looks like it might be a "good deal", part out what I know I'll never use. It makes putting an investment cost on finished builds very hard. If I had to go out and buy everything I used on the bike at market value right now it'd be close to the $5,000usd area. The reality was...less...but I couldn't begin to speculate how much.
After cleaning it very, very thoroughly I used an etching primer and then a wheel paint...both Rustoleum products. Cleaning the motor and the etching primer are most important. The valve covers and oil filter cover are rustoleum appliance epoxy.

What front forks did you use
Sorry for the late reply! They are Yamaha YZF-R6 forks, 2006 "R" model.
That brought me back slot of memories. Ads no big deal. Nice to see a build without a shop full of expensive tools. Great job
thanks for watching Franklin I’m glad you enjoyed it! i’m looking forward to doing another one!
A, 😂😂😂😢😂🎉😢😮😅😊
Reminds me of those BMW commissioned art cars. Beautiful work

Not a bench in sight ,I'll just do this shit on the floor 😂👍🏼
Mate you are fast!!🏃♂️, the bike looks and sounds great!!, I like to see a walk around vid, great job!!✊🏻
it only looks that way because I sped the video way up :p
I've got another video planned, some of it already shot, that'll have some riding footage and more angles of the finished bike.
Toys for Watts , I made my own CX, great looking engines!!

Hi dude, Can u tell me the track please ? It sound so good with the video

Lotta good stuff going on here 👍🏼
Thank you! I've built a lot of bikes and this was easily one of the most fun!
Fantastic Motorcycle my Friend 👍👍👍👍
Thank you so much! It's been one of my favorite and most rewarding builds!
Nice, what bike did the forks come off?
2007 YZF-R6
You are grinding and welding witch carbs off and open inlet! Great for your engine
ports were plugged with paper towels and it turned out great

@@ToysforWatts Thanks - I machined out a new aluminium "disk" for the drive ring and welded it to my 17" rear rim... Regards!
I'd love to see pictures of that! you can reach me at toysforwatts@gmail.com
Pretty freakin entertaining, bro. Nice work!
awww you care
Nice work, bro.
Yooo this was nice! Really like the paint!
Thanks! The Pollock paint job seems to be pretty hit and miss on people but I LOVE the way it turned out.
@@ToysforWatts I’m digging it! The creativity behind it is awesome! Check us out sometime!

What size is the rear tyre? Any clearance issues.
Bike looks great
140 on the back. My goal is sorting out a 17x4.5 so I can run a 160/60. It will require notching the swingarm a bit.
Nice Build

It is a CBR954RR shock with a Ninja 650 spring.
I'm building a cx cafe racer as well and i was wondering what type of forks you used on yours?
They are 2007 Yamaha R6R forks! Good luck!
Ok thank you

What a mess... Unbelievable...
Where's your bike? Oh exactly 🤣
