How to save money on travel!

Easy ways to save money while traveling!
1️⃣ Avoid peak season.
Not only is there much larger crowds, everything is more expensive during peak season. Hotels, restaurants, taxis, everyone increases their rates! Traveling in the shoulder season is much more affordable.
2️⃣ Know your plan for cell service.
Purchasing an international plan from your cell phone provider can be quite expensive. Purchasing a SIM card is fairly affordable and easy to do. I personally use @tmobile their plan includes 5GB of high speed data in 215 countries so I never had to pay for cell service!
3️⃣ Purchase a “City Pass”.
Many destinations offer “city passes” this is a ticket of sorts that lets you into the most popular tourist attractions . However take time to look which attractions are offered. If you plan on doing the majority of them the City Pass is the way to go it will be less expensive than buying all the attractions individually. However if you only plan on doing a few things, maybe the individual price would be better for you.
4️⃣ Never pay ATM fees but always use an ATM to get local currency.
The foreign exchange rate is going to be from an ATM, not an exchange house. I recommend having a debit card that waives the ATM fee so you always have a way to get local currency. I personally use the @charlesschwab debit card for this. (I got $42 dollars of ATM fees reimbursed this month!).
5️⃣ Central location vs. outskirts?
A lot of people say staying on the outskirts saves you money. But this isn’t always the case! Depending on the public transit situation at your destination, staying in the outskirts can be much more expensive. For locations you know you’ll have a car or have a great metro system, consider the outskirts. But if there is no public transit and you’ll need lyft or a taxi. You’re better off just staying in a central location.
