One of the prettiest starbucks
Why Starbucks can actually be pretty useful while abroad ☕️
👉 @traveling.with.sofi for actual travel tips, guides & cost transparency! (no big dresses at
I’m not going to lie, typically I’m too cheap to go to Starbucks, I just make my coffee at home.
✨ HOWEVER ✨
☕️ Starbucks can actually come in very handy while you’re traveling! Hear me out!
🚽 When you’re non-stop exploring all day, you’re nowhere near your accommodation guess where there’s a bathroom?
🪑 Some travel destinations don’t have random benches you can sit on to rest (cough cough Japan)
I often used starbucks just to go sit for 20-30 minutes when you’re out and don’t want to go back to your accommodation to rest.
🛜 Wifi! Most Starbucks have wifi which is amazing when you don’t have service or data to use.
This isn’t meant to be an ad for Starbucks however it definitely came in handy on the road!
📍 Keep this in your back pocket for your next vacation!

    I totally agree here, our company just decided to have a tour in Taiwan and me was like "What can I see in Taiwan asside from the famous Taipei 101"? and when I came there I instantly love the country, the transport system, the people, the safety even when you are walking in the streets at 2am I feel totally safe, and mostly the food.. I totally enjoyed our trip there and wanted to go back to explore the country side of Taiwan.. Indeed Taiwan is an underrated tourist destination in Asia..

    • @sofi_lyrintzis
      @sofi_lyrintzis 2 місяці тому

      Yes el nido is on Palawan which is a much much larger island! to be honest in my opinion there wasn’t much to do on Coron, we were in El Nido for so long because there was a typhoon causing our boat trip to be cancelled, so we were waiting out the storm in all Nido! We were originally scheduled to leave from Coron to El Nido but with the typhoon we flew to el nido and took the boat trip back to Coron 11 days later! Or else we would have stayed less time in both locations! I liked El Nido a lot and would recommend, Coron not so much unless you’re a diver, it’s mostly famous for its boat tours but they were incredibly crowded and touristy, the highlight was 100% the 3 day boat tour we did between these two places! @@sofi_lyrintzis very big risk. If something really bad happened would that health insurance pay to fly you home with medical support? You are probably better off financialY taking out an annual travel insurance plan instead of the health insurance. You would be covered for so much more. I never leave home without it. Covers lost luggage, stolen items, medical care, and way more. The free stuff on your credit card is great, but read all the fine print. It’s useless if it doesn’t cover what you need. You do you though, just a suggestion, might even save some money.

      @sofi_lyrintzis 2 місяці тому

      Yes I did significant research on the subject matter considering I was leaving for a year, am very risk adverse and wouldn’t have any other form of medical coverage. Yes the health insurance covered flights back home for medical situation so. It was a global health insurance used predominantly by full time travelers and digital nomads. Most travel insurances I looked into don’t support full time travel and are more designed for short trips from a couple days up to 3 months which didn’t work for my situation, additionally these predominantly don’t offer certain health insurance situations like cancer care if that occurred, so for my situation and the research I did this was the best option for me and worked out great, which I can state now that the year is over. Believe me, I read all the fine print, I don’t mess around with my health :)

    Hey that's a really informational video! I'm on a gap year traveling and the thing about credit card points is something I didn’t know. Which cards provide these types of discounts?

    • @sofi_lyrintzis
      @sofi_lyrintzis 2 місяці тому

      there exists so many travel / hotel cards! I would recommend the points guys blog to learn more! However I always recommend the Chase Sapphire Preferred credit card as a starter! The way these cards work is you get points for your spending, for example if you go to the grocery store and spend $100 you get 200 points, etc. Depending on the card and type of spending you get different point amounts. You can these use these points to “redeem” them for different things, including flights and hotels! The biggest amount of points you get is from the sign up bonus however, some cards offer 75k points if you sign up for the card. To give a frame of reference I got a flight from LAX to Madrid for 20k points and a flight from Singapore to LAX for 56k points so it’s dependent on location, transfer partners, time of year, etc! It can all be a little confusing so let me know what questions I can answer!!

    Only $22 a night for accommodation? How did you find that? I'm looking to go to japan and everything is $100 a night. I know it's not the same place, but I would've expected it to be similar. Also, is this USD?

    • @Han0413

      I'm Korean, but if you stay in a small room at Airbnb for a long time, you'll be able to use it at a cheaper price. The owner of the video is on a trip on the 11th, so I think it was 22 dollars per day for a long-term stay and a half with her companion.

    • @sofi_lyrintzis
      @sofi_lyrintzis 2 місяці тому

      yes as mentioned ^ this is for my half of the accommodations, also i think i got really lucky with the deals I was able to find at the time, I stayed at Ara Hotel in Seoul!

      For japan, I do have all my cost breakdowns for Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto as well! I found it was about $60 USD per night while I was there and hostels were about $30-$70 as well, depending on how nice they were, I’d recommend The Millennials for hostels in Japan, really nice!

      Living in Korea where it's hard to find a meal for under $10 unless you eat 김밥천국 for most meals, $30 per day for 3 meals isn't bad To put it in perspective, I stopped eating McDs and BK because a basic meal is over $8 now and really, it isn't worth it

    This isn't about not acknowledging how hard you worked but recognising you have the privilege to do something many people never will have. You should enjoy your hard earned money. At the same time you can be self-aware enough to know many people work hard and will not earn that much in their life or in the 5 years you did.

    • @sofi_lyrintzis

      i do completely agree, i am incredibly privileged to have been able to do something like this and i do recognize not everyone can, not only from a financial perspective but from a health perspective as well. However I do think just commenting “rich people” is a bit uncalled for, the top 1% own 30% of the total worlds wealth and to group me in with “rich” in any sort of form is just inaccurate

      it took about 5 years! since i started working I would always save, however i didn’t know what the money would be used for until a year before I left when I decided to take the year off! I tried to be very frugal, eating at home, not going shopping, not ordering drinks at dinner, etc. I highly recommend tracking your expenses so you know where your money is going and more so know how much you could be saving depending on your income!
