    I agree about choosing organic versions of grains - not just oats - because of the glyphosate used as a desiccant. I was horrified by this when I first heard about it! And I think it might be time to reintroduce oats into my diet... 😊

    It's funny and sad at the same time to me, that real whole grains are so unknown to the population. I am used to pressure cook whole oat grains for 25 years, from the macrobiotic tradition. Would be interesting to see the glucose/insulin effects.

      pressure-cooking a lot of foods also helps get rid of lectins that are naturally present in a lot of them, but which tend to undermine digestion unless they're pressure-cooked

    Its interesting how yeast sourced beta glucan instead of regular BG does the opposite to bacteroides by reducing it and instead raising prevotella, I think most dysbiotic people will more likely have high bacteroides compared to prevotella

    I’ve just been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. It started about 6 months ago. I’ve had undiagnosed IBS on and off for about 30 years. I feel the RA is from my gut. I’ve just started Methotrexate…. It’s not helping yet. My doctor hasn’t mentioned food triggers. I would fast to help the IBS, but I need to do more for the RA.

      @@MarkShinnick cheers. I’m still to see the rheumatologist again soon. He not talking about the cause, except for excessive stress. However my UA-cam research suggests my gut is leaking proteins into the blood and my immune system is attacking any protein that looks like it…. Very painful to say the least and I feel terrible. I’m still working out what to do about it, beyond pills and fasting.

    hi, very interesting videos. Did one of your videos talked about a complete healthy microbiome finger print, i.e no just which strains are good but what is the overall composition, i.e how much Bacteriodies how much firmicutes , actinobactetia, how much proteobacteria we want.....

    i think you should show up for interview with Judy Cho, cahnnel "nutrition with judy"... That would be interesting :))
    Nutrition of "ourselves" is already pretty complicated, and hee we can learn how to nurture or mobile soil compartment, that we carry long wth us.
    I think that the next level of prevention and wellbeing will be achieved only if we can find ways to tailor our food intake in a super naural way. For instance, older people need a different amino acid profile than young people. And the same for prebiotics : we would need an ai assistant that is able to take proxy observations, suggests a proper kind of experimentation (everything is experimentation in some way) and finally suggest a means of private fortification of food. for instance, addnig this and that amount of b-glucan etc etc
    interested?

      If you react to oats, two things. One - if you're concerned about say cholesterol, then you could either buy a beta glucan capsule or buy a barely product, or talk to me. Second - you have to ask yourself why you're reacting to the oats. Is it because your immune system is out of balance? And why would that be? Keep watching the videos.

    just a small bit of feedback: you're probably in a large room, so there's a lot of "echo", which overpowers your speech, and thus, it's hard to actually catch many of your words. You may need a better microphone/

    Guy when you mention healthy populations around the world are you referring to blue zones? There is a recent exposé by a scientist on UA-cam showing how the blue zone theory is fraudulent. If not, then who are you referring to? Im not a carnivore btw just trying to fix my gut lol

    • @TheMicrobiomeExpert
      @TheMicrobiomeExpert  2 місяці тому +3

      Yes, I am referring to the blue zones. There are more than the four most frequently mentioned, but others were excluded due to issues with record keeping. One of them is Vilcabamba in Ecuador. I was there for a week, and ran across a 99-year-old man hiking a mountain trail I was on. I'm not sure who you`re referring to, but the data seems to line up across the board, not just for longevity, but for living well. There's no sense in living until 90 if your last 10 years are horrific and a burden on others. You want to live well, as long as possible. It works for me. I'll be 55 in two weeks, and I'm killing it. I'm in much better shape than anyone I know who is in their 50s, and I take zero drugs.
