I loved the book ‘Way of the warrior kid’. I would’ve been a different person if I had read that when I was young. Luckily it’s never too late to GET AFTER IT.
I have " Wake up and get after it" as my alarm clock and I have never listen to it entirely, as soon as I hear Jocko counting I get up, disconnect the alarm and start the day. Greetings from Spain
The timing and alignment of your podcasts flawlessly synchronize to my life. The ups. The downs. The cloudy gray days where I stand at the end of a path with 7 possible directions I could embark. Dinggg. New video from Jocko!. Just yesterday a new set back had been applied to my life, and composition notebook filled with task's needing my attention. I'd just need you and echo to know that I am and forever will be forever grateful for every bit of content you share with me. I know I'm not the only one out there that can second this. Thank you guys!
Same here. Lost my job a month ago and have been slacking on the job hunt. These podcasts the past two and a half years have changed my life since that episode on Tim Ferris. Tim to realign.
oh man Jocko is soooo right about leadership. Don't come off an airhead or know it all to subs, work with your subs (practice what you preach, give them their breaks and your ear), communicate with them (discuss their takes and yours), and from me, always use humour (it alyways breaks up the tension for me).
This brought me back to the summer I outgrew my life vest, I didn't understand why it didn't fit anymore, and when I exited the shed , I asked my father " why can't I zip it up Dad?" And He said " you can learn to swim without it except when we're in the ocean". I said " will I get a new one?" And he said " maybe in time, but you might outgrow that one too.." I said but Dad time goes fast and it's getting faster" ( I really wanted a new vest, mine was stinky and rough) and he said " think of time at my age it gets even faster I blink and its like a hurtling rocket just getting faster" I remember blinking fast in the sun imagining what he said. I remember thinking " is that what makes him smokes ciggarettes? Maybe I was on to something. But it made me picture him hurtling through space smoking Winston's no space suit or life jacket required. He only permitted future thinking, on his terms and that was fast forward.
This podcast came perfect as always. I just had two friends pass away..making me realize a lot of things. Love you guys, hope to meet you someday to thank you both.
No knife needed. Can you imagine how this would look like from someone else's perspective? 911 What is your emergency? Yeah, Jason Bourne's dad is about to shank the one with the big guns. Send help NOW!
After reading his books and listening to him for so long, I can almost always anticipate (basically) what Jocko is going to say during a Q&A. I can hear his voice answering the question in my head before echo finishes reading. Lol I do have 1 question, what kind of knife is Jocko rocking?
“You don’t need some label to make you a man That’s not what makes you a man . Be your own man . Go out and conquer your part of the world. Jocko Willink . Thank you for this. 🙏🏾
1:12:40 Jocko: “my 9 yr old daughter will call you out if you throw a ‘but’ or if you say ‘well, I didn’t know what time we had to be there.’ You’re not taking ownership.” Echo, under his breath: “yeah, she hangs around you too much.” Lmfao love the podcasts and the dynamic these 2 bring
"it just means you've made a temporary tactical withdrawal... What you've done is you've learned." Great stuff!! Failure that is preceded by planning and diligence is going to be a normal though periodic part of the learning process. If you aren't failing at some point, you're not trying.
I once rode out on a little sail boat with my uncle one summer vacation and he told me he knew he would die soon in a heart attack or a car accident. I was skeptical and tried to convince him otherwise but he told me you never know Chris. Eight years later his words ring true.
Hey Jocko, I don't know if people send you Q&A here but I'm in a predicament. My niece is 7 years old, and she has a weight problem. She eats pancakes, waffles, candy, plain simply...junk. My family doesn't do much, my sister and my brother-in-law don't discipline her enough. And I'm worried. My wife and I tried to get her to eat healthy when she comes over. And she complains. I explain to her that we want what's best but won't come over anymore. Both of her parents smoke, they don't eat healthy except once in awhile, salads. And her father is diabetic. I don't know what I'm going to do, and I'm nervous. She does play some sports, but quits soon after. What in the world am I to do? I'm frustrated.
Sometimes their is not much you can do, scene fundamentally its her parents who make the rules, you may could try an persuade her parents into taking your point of view into consideration. But if you are a christian I would try praying about it also. Hope this helps!
@@dinomra7771 I have 3 grand kids my daughter and her husband work 7 days a week I am losing my mind trying too help raise the 8 5 and 2 year Old.This is a hard subject for Me,They are not my kids but damn sure feel like they are because I have raised them.Nowadays life is so fast I am disabled from a injury in a car wreck..So my time doesn't mean shit to those 2 assholes.I am pissed at the whole deal. They dont help them with anything like sports I am the one trying all I can.
@Tom S You apparently have no grand kids. If you do You must not be involved in their life. Nowadays kids are so fucked up with work their kids are suffering. I try to fill in as the Guardian.
It's worth noting that the guy with epilepsy could possibly get a medical waiver depending on what branch he joins and what job he goes for. Standards and waivers are how the military negotiates with the public to fill manpower needs. So the more difficult it is to get people to fill a certain job, the more likely they are to grant waivers for people to do that job.
Jocko's "weird way of looking at the world... similar to the everything happens for a reason thing" he starts describing at 54:30 occurred to me as well yesterday. I decided that the trouble finding a new job and the bullshit employers and recruiters were throwing my way was just a bone that was being thrown to me - the universe saying "nah, it's time to go invest in yourself ". The problem is that sometimes these clues are by no means a guaranteed to be a smart/solid decision.
Good Evening. Echo your are JACKED to the 32nd Level. Hello Jocko have you ever replied to anyone's comments on the Tube? Thank you guys for your podcast. Peace.
Wow this strawberry Molk that just arrived is incredible!!..Now when i wanna get after some sugar coated lies, ill get after the strawberry Molk instead. Thanks Jocko for all you do.

Because Jocko had 3 deployments under his belt already and Fac would rather Jocko was around in the training cell to impart some of the knowledge he already learned to the younger seals. Also, If Jocko and his roomate didn't go on the deployment then two of the younger seals could go instead...win win

For the epilepsy guy, medicine is a good option. Many of my colleagues have epilepsy and they do amazing tings every day as doctors.
