If there’s one thing Life has taught me so far, it’s “Failure is the best teacher”.

This video couldn't have come at a better time for me. I have a feeling this isn't about the same kind of failure I'm experiencing, but I've been working on my college thesis film since late 2022 and I was originally supposed to have it finished so I could graduate in 2023. I ending up with a failing grade on my record for almost 2 years now and it's been a complete nightmare. It started when I fluked the animatic in my senior year due to the files getting corrupted. Since then, I've been building a team of talented animators and planning a production schedule to help us get across the finish line. I'm hoping this video will change my view on failure in the process. Thank you Toniko!

Please, consider to make similar vid about how to overcome stagnation after a long break in drawing? I see other artists drawing comics and animations and achieving success while I look at them, envy them, try to draw, but nothing comes out - not only because of my lack of skill, but because of some strange block - it seems to me that I am not good enough and that I have not drawn for too long, that there is no point in chasing the same success, although I do not want to give up my dreams. In general, I would be glad to see a comprehensive solution to this problem

It's not about skill issue it's a marathon. Consistency and quantity over quality.
Don't focus on the success of one individual, just try to optimize the process. If we're talking about comics it's not as important to set up Chekhov's guns as it is to keep the action consistent. Even revealing characters at first isn't as important as just trying to give them some labels. A friend of mine who is a comic book artist has pointed out in conversations about this topic that people often want to do something serious right away when they should just be drawing. He used to say: “You can't draw a page - draw a cartoon/silly meme/pose with a character, the main thing is to fill the info-field and keep in touch with the reader, let the big guys and the Japanese do the depth, some have money and others have innate workaholism”.

Thank you so much for the video! I've been struggling with these issues since last year and it kind of petrified me to start creating, so this video is really helpful. I really like how you approach creative failure rationally and how it doesn't define you as an artist/person!

"Insted of shorts, maybe you treated them as movie trailers_ and got a mixed feeling that didn't elevate the audience."

My brains interpretation : I'm pretty sure many of you guys that watch my videos are failures.
Reality: "I'm pretty sure many of you guys that watch my videos are artistic and creative types"
