Found you from Sid Alpha's video. Good video, and from what I can tell it is definitely "fair use." Just another example of a "dirty dev" trying to silence criticism of a small channel. The weird thing is the delay on the takedown, never seen that before. If the video does get taken down I am sure more people will cover this, many of us hate these types of actions and spread the word fast.
I bought this game on Epic Games because it was on sale for $1.99. I was disappointed the minute I opened the game. I requested a refund and epic gave me my money back.
The worst thing to me is that conceptually the idea of having a game on steam that is the key to an ARG isn’t that bad. Obviously it should be free so that people can get into the game at no cost, but to have a game on steam people can stumble into is an interesting if ballsy tactic. Shame this concept has been tainted by this literal scam.
I don't even mind paying for am ARG if it's... Ya know... Good?? Like, I've seen some production-quality ARGs that had to cost 10 grand to put together before. If they sold a $5 steam game tie-in I'd buy it. Idk why the developer here is so allergic to effort - then again, he's an NFT bro so... 😂
Thanks for reporting on fraudulent "games" on Steam, and for not yielding to the scammer's (developer's) attempt at threatening you with legal action and to their feeble and oh-so-transparent frivolous DMCA claim. Glad to see this video restored; I'm commenting to both say thanks, and to increase engagement. Hopefully YT algorithm picks this video up again.
Reminded that back during one of Steam's anniversaries they gave out an account title that gave one lucky person ALL GAMES ON STEAM. So this dev really needs 3023.
7:23 I want someone to animated this with TF2 models, this sounds like a TF2 SFM video with AI voices or spliced voices from the game. The white text sounds like Soilder a tad bit and red one sounds like Medic. just a bit pitched up.
Big reason why they had to drop the use of NFTs is because Steam does not allow ANYTHING that involves NFTs. They could have kept the NFTs, but that would have meant that it couldn't get published. So they cave in, probably because their NFTs weren't selling at all.
Funny that the developer tried to sue you for this video not because he was ashamed or embarrassed but because he saw it as another opportunity for a quick buck
Because of this video and the second one you made, I was able to warn my friend who is a mod for another youtuber and she managed to inform him in time before checking out what the game had to offer. :)
It's unfortunate to hear that the person behind the ARG tried to sue the creator of the video. Legal battles can be quite messy and are sometimes unexpected in these situations
The courts exist to give us an alternative to violence, but they threaten violence to everyone involved. Knowingly abusing the legal system could therefore be punished with extralegal violence.
Just found your video and I thought I'd leave some comedic bit for everyone to enjoy: The German review at 13:23 literally says "Don't let babies play with games :) They cry, when they can't orientate. I have never seen such an extensive game. Details drip into everything."
Russian review also obvious fake. It feature female username, but user refer himself as a male in the review. Review text is weird as if it was AI-generated.
Imagine how cool of a premise this would be if it didn’t cost 15 dollars, just a program that requires a certain amount of attention before allowing the community to continue
This is a thing in many places already! Unfortunately it's not fun because it's generally just holding updates hostage until they get a certain amount of likes/comments/subs/etc The concept is still usable imo, but it'd likely have to involve every individual acting as a mechanism of the puzzle in some way, which poses its own risks and problems
Something to note at 10:16 With that calculation they would have actually made more like $31,752 in profits, since Steam takes a 30% cut from games sold on their platform. The actual amount isn’t a big deal is this case, but definitely worth noting for if you cover any other Steam related topics. But besides that detail this was a great video 👍
I live in Turkey and it is actually a big deal. The minimum wage in Turkey is $422 (monthly). and 40% of the population live on minimum wage. To give another example, the salary of a junior software engineer is $648. That is, they pocketed a person's 4-year salary with a one-week effort.
@@GereksizSey153 I mean sure; but the point is the actual amount of money they made isn't as important as the fact they were scamming people out of their money. The total profit doesn't make that fact any better or worse
@@GereksizSey153 That really sucks, man. There are so many amazing people in Turkey. I really hope your economy improves and the quality of life of Turkey's citizens improves.
Fun fact: the covered part of the live footage from the Turkish city of Izmir actually contains the logo of the municipality of Kocaeli, another Turkish city. So even the live footage is a lie.
Imagine if they stuck to the NFTs thing though. They'd not just need 3024 people for the bullshit puzzle, but 3024 specific people with zero redundancy.
The sad thing is that a game without visuals sounds like a really cool indie game idea… if it was made by a creative game dev with a vision instead of a grifter for money.
I'm glad this has been relisted. Really brings to light how much of a scam this 'game' really is. It's terrible that valve is allowing games like this to be listed on their site without any form of quality control at all. Something needs to change !

The algorithm blessed me I watched a few of your videos and I enjoyed them all. I'd love to see you review non NFT games too! I know that's the point of this channel but if you made a separate one or started a series I think it would do exceptional. Have a good one!
@@jauwn I think whatever you're interested in will make for the best videos. It's refreshing to hear honest reviews and you could do a voiceover with spliced in game play with just you or a group. In my opinion it's better than a let's play and it helps people decide whether or not a game is worth it while being entertained. Regardless of what you decide to do I look forward to seeing what you create in the future :)
I actually recognize the AI voice used in the Frank's computer part. It's one of the voices from Replica AI. I once used it as a little video I did using AI to do a dramatic reading of the Battle of Yonkers from the original WWZ script for fun. I would recognize that gravelly voice anywhere. Kind of a bad idea to use a stock AI voice in your project as anyone can also use that voice in their own things.

What I find frustrating is that this is a REALLY COOL concept. A game with no visuals, but you have to listen to 3D audio to interact with the world. Even if it used free sounds and text-to-speech, it still could have had potential... if the dev had a soul
There was a game for the 360 that was downloadable only, it had no visuals just black screen. But it was sooooo good, all audio but they put so much effort into it. It didn't require 3,000 people but it was fun.
I'm from Turkey. I've been seeing an increase in the number of minimum effort cash grab games for the past few years now and a lot of peole leave positive reviews to "support" the efforts of Turkish developers even if they make absolute trash. For context, Hunt down the Freeman was also a Turkish game.
First of all HdtF is not Turkish. Only the director (Deniz i don't remember his surname) is Turkish and he's do jack shit other than copying story of MGS V and not paying devs. Better example would be Soldier of the Universe which basically culminating everything wrong with Turkish game industry. Also this 3024 guys are from Ordu which explains everything
This "game" is stupid on so many levels. It definitely sounds like something that only a cryptobro would would think they could coordinate, since only they are mindless enough to think everyone can Hivemind enough to do this while also believing that limitations on tech don't exist when going small scale to large scale.
Glad you enjoy! The only logical way for my channel to "blow up" is for it to get hacked and taken over by a crypto scammer due to me playing these sketchy games
My dad makes games for steam they actually have people that manually review each game to make sure it is fit for steam so it's weird to see games that are scams get put on steam they may be using a loop hole
Honestly, there’s some really cool ideas in here. The basic concept itself is really cool, but it had horrible execution. Would love to see someone else try their hand at this
Had this video link saved. I am glad that it came back onto YT and your review on Steam has been seen by many (judging by the awards, points well spent) so now even more know about the BS this dev tried to pull. Even if they close up shop and start a new company, people will find the history.
We truly are living in the age of misinformation. With AI, people can make and distribute scams very quickly. We need more content creators focused on spreading awareness about shady schemes like 3024. Thanks for this video.
6:12 I think the developer took awful inspiration off the game "A Blind Legend" (which is so much better by the way because it has GREAT audio engineering), I can't believe how they took such great concept of gameplay for a "no graphic video game" and made it worse, only possible by NFT bros.
A game for old computer systems named Hareraiser, which was released for a contest, could technically count as a proto-ARG, couldn't it? It had a broken puzzle that was sold in two parts and nobody had figured it out. It was before the internet was a thing, but it was supposes to be used to get a physical object. However, at least it had graphics, even if there were used to display cryptic messages, random fields and random animations. It also didn't require 3024 people to pull off either. (Never mind, this game had a contest as well, Hareraiser is this game before this game). Also, I don't know who this SidAlpha guy is, I literally got recommended this video on it's own. It sucks you were apparently screwed around by the devs of this game though.
I was waiting for somebody to mention Hareraiser. The price of the first game was astronomical for the 80s and consisted of a couple of screens with a rabbit and a few ambiguous statements like "help is here". Any idea that the picture was significant was spoiled by each version (for the many platforms being used in the UK at the time, BBC Micro, Spectrum etc) featuring different terrible art constrained by the abilities of the computers.
My 1st exposure to an arg (sort of) was on UA-cam with videos using annotation boxes on screen and some linked up with google's street view, but those we're single player, they we're fun and free.
If the dev actually had common sense and didn't tell people to actually quit the game, people would log time into it and then wouldn't be allowed to refund it lmao
Glad you were able to get this video reinstated. The unfortunate thing is that the dev got your video taken down for a period of time where so many people could have been made aware of this SCAM! Great job on calling this out!
At 2:27 when it says "I couldn't even find another example of an ARG that cost money to play", literally on the screen is the listing for Majestic, which was an ARG that cost money to play. Other examples include Missing: Since January, The Black Watchmen, and Subtext.
I think the bigger issue isnt that theyre using AI. It's that theyre using it in a poor manner with minimal effort to make things sound real or intriguing. AI can be great if used correctly in all forms especially as a solo dev. But what frustrates me is ESL creators making an english game with so little understanding of grammar and 0 proofreading or spellchecking. Reaks of low effort it's just sad.
The video title reminds me of that one episode of 2 Stupid Dogs where the dogs are trying to get a quarter for a payphone, one thing led to another, and they needed $10,000, so they try to go to a bank to get money, and the bigger dog says to the teller "Give me $10,000."
You know, everyone always says "I could never get scammed, I'm too intelligent for that.", well, I bought the game for $1.39 from Epic Store and didn't play it for 21 days (can't get a refund after 14 days). Today I finally got to it, get to the "The Mission" video. First recommendation in that video? This one. Felt played like a fiddle. (Sorry for any bad English)

And guess what? They still couldn't make it. The dev saying they tried and it was possible is just pathetic.

The worst thing to me is that conceptually the idea of having a game on steam that is the key to an ARG isn’t that bad. Obviously it should be free so that people can get into the game at no cost, but to have a game on steam people can stumble into is an interesting if ballsy tactic. Shame this concept has been tainted by this literal scam.
this has actually been done before, the main ARG of The Hex by Daniel Mullins is done in a free steam game called Below The Surface.

7:42 “Ok I came” has gotta be the best line from a crappy game that i don’t own that I heard yet
7:23 I want someone to animated this with TF2 models, this sounds like a TF2 SFM video with AI voices or spliced voices from the game. The white text sounds like Soilder a tad bit and red one sounds like Medic. just a bit pitched up.
Camping in the replies in case some generous SFM animator is kind enough to drop their link here
Same here, def sounds familiar. Not certain that it's actually just tf2, but it's funny how similar it sounds
Quite fitting, one with white text acts just like Soldier, while one with red text sounds and acts similar to Medic
I don't think this needs more free publicity
The white text kinda sounds like a mixture of Soldier's and Demoman's voice
Free speech is just an illusion , its not real😂

Just found your video and I thought I'd leave some comedic bit for everyone to enjoy: The German review at 13:23 literally says "Don't let babies play with games :) They cry, when they can't orientate. I have never seen such an extensive game. Details drip into everything."
Russian review also obvious fake. It feature female username, but user refer himself as a male in the review. Review text is weird as if it was AI-generated.
Imagine how cool of a premise this would be if it didn’t cost 15 dollars, just a program that requires a certain amount of attention before allowing the community to continue
This is a thing in many places already! Unfortunately it's not fun because it's generally just holding updates hostage until they get a certain amount of likes/comments/subs/etc
The concept is still usable imo, but it'd likely have to involve every individual acting as a mechanism of the puzzle in some way, which poses its own risks and problems
late reply but this kind of arg have been done to death, nothing new here
Something to note at 10:16
With that calculation they would have actually made more like $31,752 in profits, since Steam takes a 30% cut from games sold on their platform.

I actually recognize the AI voice used in the Frank's computer part. It's one of the voices from Replica AI. What I find frustrating is that this is a REALLY COOL concept. A game with no visuals, but you have to listen to 3D audio to interact with the world. Even if it used free sounds and text-to-speech, it still could have had potential... if the dev had a soul
There's a game called The Vale: Shadow of The Crown that pretty much does what this game does but I hear it's far better

The German review at 13:24 is mostly gibberish. The first sentence makes no sense at all. The last sentence is obviously an auto-translated mistake.
I really hope your channel blows up soon. You are doing God's work, Jauwn and your videos are fucking entertaining

With AI, people can make and distribute scams very quickly.
We need more content creators focused on spreading awareness about shady schemes like 3024.
Thanks for this video.
10:52 those numbers are literally textures from portal 2, for the 2 times buttons to open the giant door in chapter 6.
The thing is, that’s exactly what the dev wanted. They’re removing any negative talk of the game to minimise lost purchases as much as possible.
Your DMCA video brought me here. The Streisand effect indeed.
Also, 7:38 made me laugh out loud in an eatery.
6:09 Why do the voices sound like TF2 characters
At 2:27 when it says "I couldn't even find another example of an ARG that cost money to play", literally on the screen is the listing for Majestic, which was an ARG that cost money to play. Other examples include Missing: Since January, The Black Watchmen, and Subtext.
SidAlpha said I can make NFT bros mad if I watch this. I’m in.

This is amazing. Most of the best ARGs are like free and passion projocts or secret commercials for bungies.
