I always find it funny when a game that's supposedly about "embracing decentralization" doesn't have any kind of option for player-hosted servers and is 100% reliant on a centralized server farm hosted exclusively by the developers.
You're exactly wrong about that. 1 year into production. None of those things would be present in ANY game at that point in production. It's a AAA shooter. Not focused on NFTs or blockchain at all. All assets are currently OFF CHAIN. Jauwn just doesn't have the facts about this game. He could ask the devs personally...but he won't. That mode will probably be in the game if we ask for it later down the production pipeline.

I’ve said this for years. I honestly believe I’m part of the reason he launched a game. I’ve called him out for being a small part of one of the worst COD’s ever made and on twitch and UA-cam which he’s commented back that he wouldn’t be able to create a game any better than the games he swears are shit. Then low and behold 2 years later he announced he was making a game that’s basically a copy paste shit hole of every game he hates mashed together. I love doc as a character but his rants are unwarranted.

Aside form the NFTs, I don't think the game would be getting nearly as much hate/criticism if he didn't talk a big game. He is constantly shitting on other games for being mismanaged and being overly monetized, talks about how his game is amazing and will topple CoD, then releases an unfocused pile of crap with the even worse monetization. This is a huge lesson in keeping your ego in check. I know being an asshole is just a character he plays, but it's really not doing him any favors in this situation. It's so weird, because he makes plenty of money, I imagine, so why the greedy practices?
I’m sure you criticize sports players for having “plenty” of money as well, right? If you have something that provides value to others, don’t limit the return on their efforts or else people stop offering their services. It’s called the Profit Motive, and it’s just as healthy at large scale as it is at small scale.
The funniest part of this whole thing is that I haven’t seen any clips of doc or any of the other brain rotted warzone streamers play this game. You’d think he’d want to play it on stream as much as possible to help promote it

If you are wondering why you can see your own player model, it's because deadrop doesnt use replication which is common place amongst FPS games. whilst the concept of "replication" in FPS games is quite complex to implement, traditionally, you render a client side viewmodel which will jsut be the guns and typically those are tied to a camera which is contained within a player "instance" for each player you have another instance be spawned, but this poses an issue where you will see just floating hands everywhere, instead, replication is a complex but most definitely necessary process, as alongside your camera and viewmodel you carry with you a node containing your position and current action. This is so that for each player that you see it will read their node and generate a local player model that only you can see, whilst disabling their local hand view models. for that player performing said action. This is why in most games you dont get extremely weird contorted models doing everything, and instead you can get a modeller / animator to make you extremely detailed first person animations and models, without caring what they look like outside of first person because the only person who will see them is you, and likewise you can focus on having really well animated and defined third person models which you will only see on other players. Whilst this process is hard sure and takes additional dev time, it will give you a better product, typically when making extremely low or zero budget indie shooters, the replication process is avoided and instead you just use a single model with a camera stuck in the head, such as what deadrop is doing, it strikes me as one of three options: 1. They didnt want to pay animators / modellers / textueres to generate 2 sets of anims and models 2. They couldn't be bothered to implement replication 3. They don't know what replication is and have no idea how to implement it at all
yes exactly so you send your info to the server such as location, rotation, current action etc, that information is then relayed to every player on the server except for your self, so everyone that is not you when looking where you are will see a full 3d model, on your screen you just see floating hands for yourself@@williamdrum9899

Having billions of dollars invested over years with no product being better than the already existing alternatives, I think the onus is on you to prove that NFTs can actually work. 7:14 in fairness, the idea of racing to the battleground rather than everyone just being launched, and having the chance to sabotage your opponents before the match would be a good one with a team who’s capable of it
In a game where all characters have the same speed u either need a mechanic that make that part different and also at the same time not make someone have way more advantages than the others or it not, turn into which exploits cam you find
Needs work, but it can be done. We have seen PUBG and Fortnite do this well with the parachuting out a plane or bus. From the way Jauwn described it though I would say they need to add a minimap or something, because if you are playing it for the first time then you truly have no idea which spot would be more adventagous to go for thus making it worthless. Might be one reason that one person was so late to arrive to the tower lol. Also as a race mechanic it should give you some type of bonus or advantage for being there first but it doesn't which also partially negates a reason for rushing. Again with fortnite you arrive first and that gives you an opportunity to get better equipment to arm yourself with. In Dead Drop from my understanding you are already equipped and can only get other equipment from other players. Hence being the first doesn't offer a tactical advantage other then being able to climb sooner which unless you are playing would make for a boring spectacle for audience members lol.
@@TheCommanderTaco My concern is that the racing portion either matters so much that you've already lost before the shooter stage begins, or matters so little it may as well not be there
There’s a perfectly reasonable and above board reason for Docs NFT game. Docs Diablos engine needed a complete tear down n rebuild and he had to send it to Italy. Personally I’m honored to buy the game and know I’m helping Doc drive a safe and properly running exotic car.
There are a number of really great vertical FPS, but they do something quite different than this game. They give the player abilities to move vertically. Climbing ladders sucks, it takes control away and is just moving slowly up while you hold W (seriously they cant even add a way to fire while climbing?). Halo has jump pads, the finals has ziplines, titanfall has wallrunning. Those games let your verticality be constantly changing and often have incentive to not just stay at the top (sightlines, objectives, whatever). Here "verticality" just means standing on a platform, its really lame
The racing segments are unintentionally hilarious because there's one other extraction shooter I can think of which also has all its rounds start with a vehicle combat section, it's called Marauders. In Marauders the vehicle segments are also completely silent, but unlike Deadrop where they're silent because no effort was put in, in Marauders they're silent because they're in space and it's a deliberate design decision. Deadrop's own incompetence accidentally made it more obvious what they're knocking off.
Marauders is awesome and every Deadrop player should go play that instead. The vehicle combat at the start also lets you choose a map to go to for your run. It's made by an even smaller team than this game and is way more fleshed out.

It's not just the monitors, our entire sense of sight works like that. We're way too big for anything in the sky or below ground to threaten us (with the notable exception of leopards but they also don't like messing with us or our more recent evolutionary ancestors), and have been for tens of millions of years, so we tend to just not look up or down, our attention focused entirely on our horizontal surroundings. Especially at attention and searching for threats. Even our eyes live in horizontal slits and have better sideways range and ease of movement. All of that is why the monitors are like that, horizontal space is just much more valuable than vertical. It's why people don't look up in 3D games, be it Portal or FPSes. Square monitors didn't die out because of technological requirements, they died out because the technological capabilities allowed us to create more horizontal ones. Also why movie screens were always horizontal. Our minds don't really live in a 3D world, they live in a 2D world with some vertical additions.

That racing minigame just so they can sell car skins is such a hilariously bad idea it's genuinely impressive. Scope creep is a great way to say what's happened to this game. I feel like the vertical gameplay could work if it was a high mobility game with wallrunning (like Titanfall) or a jetpack, make the focus on the movement. But this runs counter to the extraction style of gameplay of holding angles and careful positioning. The whole car minigame is a lot of work done to make the game worse. The Party Bus / Drop Bus is quick to get into and easy to see where to drop and where others are spawning in. The car would seem like a real pain in the ass to have to do every time and to even guess where others going to be in the map. Idk, just looks like there is no clear direction.

5:20 His argument falls apart once competition is introduced. Would you spend $10 on an incomplete game that _might_ *eventually* become something, or would you spend it on, for example, GMod and gain access to a metric ton of already completed content alongside an entire library of mods whose creation is aided heavily by pre-built game functions? Just because you have the disposable income to buy a golden turd (why is the term "golden turd" even so common?), doesn't mean said turd becomes more valuable to anyone else.
You can literally pay twice that for a feature complete indie title with working gunplay that feels, filled lobbies and vechicles that make sense, and if you don't want that, well, there's EfT. And if you don't want _that_ for any reason, there is at least 2 seperate extraction shooters on the market and two more coming out soonish, one of which will likely be free. Why would you become an pre-alpha tester and spend anywhere from 10 to 400 dollars when you can pay and play for literally anything with the fraction of the cost.

I honestly think they should just reverse the whole thing, like legit. Spawn on the top of the tower, and escape out the bottom, and the car driving is like the last minigame, before you extract successfully. The last moment of hype and hurrah as you race down the road blasting some good beats. I think that way the cars would make sense too, like in your mind there wouldnt be this tower with a bunch of cars parked around the base, only for the owners to just leave out the top of the map. Cars just sit there and, does anyone come back for them? CAn the car drive itself back to your base?. Im telling you, DOC if you see this, or any of the DEV team, try inverting the idea, and see how it feels. SPAWN AT THE TOP, FIGHT TO LEAVE THE BOTTOM.

I always find it funny when a game that's supposedly about "embracing decentralization" doesn't have any kind of option for player-hosted servers and is 100% reliant on a centralized server farm hosted exclusively by the developers.
But how else could they justify selling weapons you could easily recreate with mods for $750. Won't somebody think of the blockchain!?
You're exactly wrong about that. 1 year into production. None of those things would be present in ANY game at that point in production. It's a AAA shooter. Not focused on NFTs or blockchain at all. All assets are currently OFF CHAIN. Jauwn just doesn't have the facts about this game. He could ask the devs personally...but he won't.
Whilst this process is hard sure and takes additional dev time, it will give you a better product, typically when making extremely low or zero budget indie shooters, the replication process is avoided and instead you just use a single model with a camera stuck in the head, such as what deadrop is doing, it strikes me as one of three options:
1. They didnt want to pay animators / modellers / textueres to generate 2 sets of anims and models
2. They couldn't be bothered to implement replication
3. They don't know what replication is and have no idea how to implement it at all
Very interesting! Thanks for this writeup, it really explains a lot about this game
@@jauwn thankyou for a really enjoyable video
So in other words, other players see your whole model but from your point of view you're just a floating pair of arms holding a gun?
yes exactly so you send your info to the server such as location, rotation, current action etc, that information is then relayed to every player on the server except for your self, so everyone that is not you when looking where you are will see a full 3d model, on your screen you just see floating hands for yourself@@williamdrum9899

7:14 in fairness, the idea of racing to the battleground rather than everyone just being launched, and having the chance to sabotage your opponents before the match would be a good one with a team who’s capable of it
It sounds like a good idea but in practice stuff like this is usually just more annoying than fun in the long run
In a game where all characters have the same speed u either need a mechanic that make that part different and also at the same time not make someone have way more advantages than the others or it not, turn into which exploits cam you find
Seems VERY hard to balance

Even Fortnite has better verticality than this game
Bro, original Quake had better verticality than this

This seems like a great suggestion actually. My only concern is that with racing games, even something like a 3 second head start can give you a guaranteed win. But if the racing portion is just a bonus it's fine
Like a Die Hard movie
Would also kinda fit the whole, yknow,
DROP part of the game's name.
bro, how bout you make it, that sounds legitimately awesome.
No way, I watched both previous videos about that game literally an hour before seeing this one, what a coincidence!
you manifested a third video
I know you did
@@jauwn you got me, i almost dropped dead seeing this
Is that a pun you charlatan@@x-x
@@x-xor almost ropped dead

Man I recognized so many unreal store plugins and assets in just a few minutes.
The sliding doors for example I am pretty sure I used in an apartment I built for a fangame. They were a totally free asset too.
They even came with built in events so you don't have to program in open and closing them like you would normally.
The extraction helicopter is a free asset too. I showed a few other examples in my 2nd video on the game (this is my third)
well, it encountered... MINOR inconveniences
Ha ha child exploitation "jokes", just taken from the top comments ha ha ha 😑
These videos have been really entertaining. I found your channel a while back and then went and watched all of the videos. It's been pretty funny watching your ever decreasing patience for their bull.
You have far more patience than I do, Good luck and try not to go insane. I know I would have to make at least two videos in between a crypto one to keep my sanity. Or torture my friends with it as well. That would probably work too.
In all honesty I really enjoy making content on these crypto games because it allows me to go wild with my own creativity. The games are so boring and dumb that it's up to me to provide all the entertainment
@@jauwnYou definitely do a good job of making it fun and enjoyable. I guess I was thinking about playing these as a gamer who just wants to have fun. I'm glad you enjoy doing this because I sure as hell enjoy watching it.
Also people in general just don't look up. This probably a good explanation for that but I would just be guessing.
I like how the bandage animation is essentially the same as rusts but rust actually shows the bandage being used not looking like I’m doing the chicken dance after receiving brain damage like in Dr dis respects game
I see nft/crypto, i see scam
A proper reaction.
Dead Drop, drops dead Doc.
The fact that Dr Disrespect doesnt even play his own game tells you everything you need to know about this trainwreck
You're telling me a game made by an influencer saying it's going to overthrow a gameing giant with nfts is dead. im shocked 😲
It's not even released yet.
@@DrSpoculus and? if you think a prerelease game with 4 players is suddenly gonna gain players out of nowhere on release when no one normal is interested in nft games is ever gonna happen, I don't know what to tell you bud.
obviously i get your focus on the negativity, but I always love when you note what you like or find okay about these games (the new map, the aesthetic of the car section, ect :D)
I love "people do not look up". I remember a lot of my trickery in S4League was simply attacking from above, preferably by running behind a wall while being chased and then wall jumping up.
This isn't just games, people don't look up IRL either.
If they really want to change the gaming industry, and bring back the good old days, they should have made Deadrop run in 4:3 aspect ratio. That's why vertical map design was way more common in games like Quake and Unreal than it is now. Back then, all games were 4:3, so you could see much more up and down than you can in today's standard 16:9.
Spending $50k on lunch? Hah, that's cheapskate stuff. I hire a private militia to raid diamond mines in Africa and then sell the diamonds to my contact in Russia and exclusively use the earnings to buy caviar
Musk AU
I like the driving to a drop off point part, not for strategic reasons, just as a replacement of the "getting ready" screen, but it shouldn't be a race or whatever, it should work as a lobby so you can talk and have upbeat music playing and drive leisurely.
Video only a minute old
Trust me, I've definitely watched it all
if you watched it at 9000x speed technically you could've finished it by now
I was *just* wondering whatever happened to DEAD ROP, you read my mind.
Also, can't believe I've been here, witnessing Jauwn's rise from fellow meltie into honest-to-god UA-camr from the very beginning. Your presentation style has only gotten better and better, great stuff dude.
Started from the bottom now we’re slightly higher than the bottom
Kenny’s paychecks werent cutting it, had to start moonlighting
Game's alright. It just needs some polish. Some grooming if you will.
anything that starts with NFT is a SCAM
These dying shells of half-finished NFT games make me wonder how much longer crypto will be around. Surely the very concept of crypto is dying by now?
It's long dead, but delusional crypto bros just refuse to accept that fact
It's alive alright, but in a coma supported by a lifeline.
I salute you for treading through the garbage that is nft games, love having a laugh at how badly these are all made and handled lmao. Another great video man
Bro really attached a mobile racing game to it and called it a day
That streamer imitation was honestly so accurate.
Well it’s definitely dead after what they pulled last night…
I mean he's now himself admitted to inappropriately messaging someone underage. They couldn't really keep him involved could they
@@liljo3yhe was the ONLY selling point
@@gapsule2326 I agree he was the only selling point, but even so, it's probably worse to keep yourself associated with a man who in his own words has talked inappropriately to people who are underage
@@liljo3y gen z looks 30. I highly doubt he went hitting up some 14 year old with pig tails. Nobody knows wtf happened and if it was bad he would have been charged and not paid out by twitch. People want this to be worse than it is for some reason.
@@acllhesit's been confirmed she was 17, and after doc found out he KEPT on messaging.
This isn't a case of "hey what she told me she was 21?", he's been a public figure for over a decade watching and commenting on others who have been ousted for stuff like this. He knew, he just didn't care how badly it might blow up.
Came for the Diggles, stayed for the NFT direspect
Imagine what the people who bought that 40$ Dr. PDF package think now... yikes.
This may be an odd thing to focus on, but I want to commend you on how much your video quality has improved over the past few months. Your writing and speaking abilities have grown dramatically. Sifting through your older videos made me feel like I was listening to a high school book report at times, whereas this feels like the work of a professional.
Good job, dude. Keep up the excellent work.
You've gained a sub, both for your insightful commentary on a game I've heard nothing about since its announcement, but mostly for the fact that you absolutely refuse to call the game "dead drop". It's at once petty and entirely necessary to make sure people know that the game is actually called DeadRop. Thank you for your service.
5:03 sus thing to see offered from someone who we now know in retrospect to be a sexual predator...
I gotta say, every single time you make a video it feels like its better than the last. Genuinely my favorite new channel that I've found. -1 million points for saying "Dead Rop" though
Mister Disrespecter ain't paying that D enough to pull double duty for Dead and Drop.
excited to see what the next snapshart will bring to doctor divorced's dead rop
A fake doctor selling snakeoil, classic
Ive paid $100 on dinners before.
I don't do it daily, and i recognize it's excessive, lol.
Clearly you aren't the target market for crypto then lol
Maybe he should have focused less on scamming his fans and disrespecting minors.
Or maybe just focus on scamming only at least.
lmao, the tweet of the cryptobros who went blind because of the UV lights
