Is anybody else’s game crashing when they try to start it up with Mod Organizer 2? I have the Steam version and it’s on my Steam Deck and not a SD Card, and when I try to launch it the game crashes immediately and kicks me out.
Here is what I did yesterday that seemed to give me success (so far): I am using the Steam version of the game. I followed the viva new vegas guide for all the utilities and bug fixes that go directly in the root directory (including fixes where you copy the files and then run an executable to patch the game) and/or the data folder of the game. I basically installed the game on Steam deck and just copied/pasted the files that were the fixes including the patched exe via ssh from my windows installation to my deck game directory. I then installed the Linux version of MO2. Note that with this, it actually installs some fixes like nvse already so it probably just overwrites some of the files that you added while following the viva new vegas guide. I then copied the mods and profiles folders from my PC installation of MO2 to the Steam Deck. Now when I run New vegas on the Deck, MO2 comes (instead of the game splash screen menu coming up) and then I click fallout new vegas entry in the upper left corner of MO2 and then click RUN. The game then launches for me and seems to work fine with the mods that I was using on my Windows installation. I have only played for a few minutes though. If you play fallout 3, for Steam deck I would use the GOG version (so you don't have to worry about downgrading the game) and the windows version of MO2 as the linux version I think uses an older version of FOSE (like 1.2 instead of 1.3). I could not get that one to launch correctly at all (It was able to launch fine without mods on the linux version of MO2 but then when I copied all my mods over it would not launch at all, so maybe its a mod issue for me), but I also don't think that I took the same approach as I did with NV.
@@GrownUpGamingGUG hey after i installed my first mod theres always an error popping up which says"failed to write mod List failed to save could not create a temporary file error"you have any idea how i can fix that?
Would you ever consider doing a walkthrough of Viva New Vegas? The base part of the guide Is very useful for modding Fallout NV and preventing a lot of crashing.
