- Super excited to share with you guys how I got Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to work on the stock headunit on both the X50 and X70 with just this dongle from Carlinkit. Pretty sure it'll also work on the latest X90 as well!

How to download the autokit? It will appear once we connect the dongle? Because my x50 play store is not working
Modified head unit can only use this type of carlinkit. Other carlinkit dongles are for factory stock headunit.
Mine is stock factory head unit running Atlas OS.

That’s from benks. Can get it from Lazada. I think it’s the magclap MagSafe mount.

Hi, there are videos online and blogs where folks have shared apk files to download and install apps like - YT, Waze, Maps, etc. without this dongle. What do you think of them?
I do have those installed in my HU but it’s laggy and eats up the data. So temporary solution is fine but long term still better get the dongle.

Initially I had this issue too. Then I changed the dongle settings to phone mic then it’s all good

can x50 head unit can be change to another brand tablet eventhough the warranty is void?

Your video didn't teach how to install, when I plug in to my x50, nothing pop out and have no idea how to get it work

I think that one better to change the head unit. If there was an option I would have changed the head unit on my x50 also.

It should work but I think you might need to download the new script.
I bought a CarlinKit but does not work in my Proton X70. My car is 5 years old, with GKUI interface. Can you help?
Try updating to atlas OS. The install process is easier. GKUI version has quite a lengthy install process.
While use apple carplay, hai proton funtioning or not sir?
Yup still functioning cause this app is running over Atlas OS so all factory functions work as usual including 360 camera, hi proton etc.

Boss..do u have any issue like sometime need to unplugged & replug the dongle once car started? If do, what the solution? It seems like the dongle bluetooth not automatically connected to phone, sometime happens sometime perfectly connected. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Mine so far less than 5 times. But no fix for that. Have to live with the occasional bug or 2 since the head unit is not really meant to run CarPlay.

Never tried on ativa but I might give it a shot on my friends car. Will get back to you.

There’s an option to use your phone mic in the settings.

Technically it should work. But also depends what software version you’re on. I didn’t upgrade mine still on 617
Is there any way I can do to allow using the steering wheel controls to skip and backtrack tracks ?
According to carlinkit they said there’s a setting but I’ve been trying to figure out. Seems like there’s no way. I believe the app has an update but we can’t do that cause it’ll mess it up for some reason.

Bluetooth can use directly from the car’s HU. It’s acceptable.

@@adriantan8045 then no issue. If atlas OS it’s even easier. Just plug and it’ll run the script itself. I didn’t update cause I don’t see any difference.

@@DrivenTechReviews i downgraded to 617 just now, and also included AutoKit script and ES File explorer script in it but unable to install. When i plug it, it didnt run itself. Is it that I should not unzip the zipfile?

No that’s not possible unless you have UA-cam music

For now cannot unless you downgrade it back. But I am sure the script will be updated at some point.

Have to go to the link in the description. There will have the steps to install. Depends on what OS you’re on also. ATLAS is much more straightforward.

Sure can but the initial step of getting the script installed is different if you’re on GKUI.

Yup but the Xeon script install process will be different. After u installed the script the function all is the same.

UA-cam is installed in the headunit itself. This dongle just enables CarPlay/AA.

Not at the moment. Still stuck with this one. It’s lagging cause of the Headunit not because of the dongle.

U have to use the Xeon script for atlas OS. Just copy the files into a thumb drive and plug it into the car’s usb port and it’ll work its magic.

I'm using carlinkit for my X70 now. May I know if there's a way to control tracks on spotify via the steering wheel button?
Unfortunately it won’t work. The steering wheel controls only work on the native headunit apps.
Does the notifications show on the IHU when you have notifications on your phone?@@DrivenTechReviews
On the issue of controlling the tracks, you have to perform necessary setting in the autobox. It works.
@@chng9137 yup notifications shop up as usual. Just the steering control doesn’t work except for the volume.

HI! I've downgraded to V 618 but can't detect ES installer script from USB after plug in. Any advise should script be different for X50 Exec model?
I think it support version 615 and 617 if I’ve not mistaken. There should be a script for Atlas OS not GKUI. I believe ES is for GKUI.
