The bandit mantle does not drop monster parts. It drops special scales whose only purpose is to be sold for money. The palico gadget, the Plunderblade, can get you extra monster parts.
Mannie Aguilar in monster parts when you are selling stuff and I think it’s called like chopped scales and large scales there’s another one too but they’re in there
Mannie Aguilar in their description you'll see the words "trade in item" these items are what you get from the bandit mantle and a few other sources and serve as cash rewards in the form of items.
For the monster part with the skull, ive noticed when you max research on it, most of the time it goes away. Another useful tip is watch its pulse on the bottom left near the map. It eventually gets 2 pulses, a blue and orange pulse. If BOTH are near flat-lining in it's resting state (whether its catching its breath or turning around to attack again, etc) and you notice it's flat-lining. It is ready for capture. This takes some getting used to learning but can be another useful tool once you mastered it. Also sometimes flyers wont limp walk away, so if you dont wanna read it's pulse and your skull doesnt show up because of max research level, another great indicator it's ready for capture is when it flys home and goes to sleep. Hope these help. Boomstick, great video as always 😊
Here's an advance tip worth adding. If you run out of a hot button item mid fight, say flashpods on kushala, you can quickly craft one by hitting it on your radial menu. Pretty handy when you are in a bind.
Irishman checkin It depends on the weapon your using. It's a chance per hit on the monster to drop so use dual blades as they are the fastest hitting weapon which means more chances of dropping items
Please note there actually is a health bar for monsters. There’s a pulse icon on his pictogram to the bottom right from the map icon. And unlike skulls popping up on the mini-map, it doesn’t requires you to have max track level of the monster.
Tip: bring a stack of flashbugs in your inventory to craft flashpods on the fly as you can only carry 3 which isn't enough because they are SOOO useful when fighting elder dragons!. Also you dont have to hit a monster in the face with a flash pod, as long as the monster in FACING YOU it will work, so shoot that flashpod at the GROUND and pluck those strutting bazelgeese and kushalas out of the skies!!! nice vid for beginners, ty.
cant think of much that hasn't been said, but here is a few. there are rare pets, kill vespoids with hunting net to guarantee loot, unarmed running evasion has crazy i-frames, palico armor can be dyed too.
ProTip: Buy Power Charm and Armor Charm from the item vendor in town. You will want to have two sets of these as you can combine the power charm and armor charm with Bezelgeuse Talons to create Power Talon and Armor Talon. You are able to carry one charm and one talon of both types on you at all times to greatly increase your ATK and DEF. They take up 4 slots all together so be careful!
Holy crap, now I know why my custom layout always reset *facepalm* Might not be the most advanced of tips from this video, but certainly the one I needed to know, ha. Thanks for that.
Tip for Hammer Users and Dual Blades Hammer - Never attack first. As a Hammer user your armor should consist of Tank armor so that you can go for that Head Hitter and be able to fall back quickly. Of course Hammers do someone of the most damage in-game, so always try to get the tails and heads, you may not get the tails but your gonna help the DB/LS users get it quicker. Dual Blades - Positioning is very important with these so make sure your positioned at the head or tail to do the most damage. Side note: Demon Modes circle attack will completely Disregard protected parts that are hardened so use those for monsters like Kushala and Nergigante because both their tails harden
Oh one more. Don't take people's "best/ ultimate" armor sets as the end all set. Their sets are good because of the way they play, their play style, the weapons and spots they prioritize. If you play exactly like them they yes those sets are worth it. Otherwise consider how you play and make an armor set based on that. I'm sure souls borne players who like dodging through attacks would absolutely love evade window as it extends the I-frames for that. Some HH players feel maestro is a must while others would rather use something else in its place. And so on and so on.
False. I like maestro. Like really swear by it. Buts that's also because I spend more time hitting the monster than trying to set up my songs again. I know hit and play. But most of the time I'm only recasting the important songs that I tend to forget to redo my self buff until it's done. I'll play defense up or ear plugs L 50 times in a single hunt. But I'll only do my self buff maybe 3 times because I forget about it.
Maestro isn't necessary...but it is an easy 1 point add so why not. I like the evasion skills and the one that increases exhaust damage the best for hh
Maestro is not necessary, but does a lot to increase your damage output as you can spend more time attacking, chasing etc instead of trying to get those long songs off
Well I'm not near my ps4 right now. But on my current HH set I have maestro, evade window 2, stamina thief 2, slugger 3, fortitude, and evade extended. Trying to get one more drain Jwl for stamina thief 3 the armor is legiana head and chest, kadatchi arms bone waist and kushala legs. With the slugger charm. I don't remember what parts were alpha and beta other than my waste being beta. It works well for how I play.
Bandit Mantle only yields trade-in items, ie only useful for selling. If you want more items, make your Palico a Plunderer. Also, capturing doesn't necessarily give MORE rewards, but different percentages on certain items, assuming the system works the sane as previous games. For example, a certain item might have a 12% chance to carve, with 3 carves, where capturing might offer a 17% chance to get a single one. Once the database gets raided, sites like Kiranico always give exact percentages for every item, and for every way you can get them (carve, break, tail, capture, quest rewards, etc), so you can plan the most efficient way to go about your farming.
If your a gunner, and you burn through ammo quick, bring your ammos' raw material too and place its ammo crafting in the radial menu to help restock your ammo mid fight
On top of that, there’s a palico tool for getting extra loot from monsters you fight. Not sure what it’s English title is, probably smth like Raider Blades. You can get it by completing a palico researcher’s quests in rotten location (be aware he has no exclamation mark above his had, but still can initiate the quest sequence). Whole area except for the very last cave needs to be unlocked in order for researcher to appear.
Ah yes, the pet pig. A classic staple for the series. I dressed mine as a watermelon back in the day. God, I need to get this game. It's calling to me.
So I'm far enough in the game that I had a cut scene before getting the quest to hunt Legiana. But since I haven't seen it roaming, I can't just go to it. Also happened with me earlier when I had to hunt Great Girros. No hunting level so no scoutflies to lead me to it.
3 peices of Kirin =Kirin Favour 2 peices of legina =legina favour Bandit mantle Capture monster. Almost guarantee gem or rare times. Best way for farming materials for craft or zen.
*My channel needs your support on Patreon and if just a fraction of you gave $1, it would help immensely❗* Some great tips submitted here and I want to thank everyone who is being a helpful member of this community! There is zero tolerance for mindless negativity on this channel and let’s keep it that way!
Boomstick Gaming did you know there is a helpful npc palico in the ancient forest that teaches your palico how to use a flash bug and elecbug trap just like the healing bug one? Just track it like any other monster. Go to the map hover the curser over the??? Tracks and follow the scoutflies to your trapperfriends. They can help you during solo missions.
No need for s thumbs down. Just glad there are people helping to spread the knowledge. As for a tip, idk most of the important and helpful ones are already out there. I guess not so much a tip but a suggestion. Consider learning the hunting horn if you don't already use it. It gives buffs but is also a pretty good blunt weapon. If you want to make only one make the final boss HH. But if you want to make more. Well I suggest making the Nergigante one second.
donuts82 yeah because I'm a solo'er if the monster has a cuttable part I start the hunts with a bone great/long sword to cut it off then switch to the hunting horn to finish them off. Well for the moment while I learn how to use hh else any weapon that I feel like using gets to lead the monster into the afterlife.
Oh I just said hunting horn because it's a weapon I personally have fun with and would like more people to at least try it. Really everyone should look into the weapons they don't use because they might find they really like them for other reasons that their current weapon doesn't do. Insect glaive for sure is one where people see it and think aerial combat. And while that is something you can do. It's ground attacks are also way better than you may think. On the flip side people who mainly use it on the ground should also consider looking into its aerial combos especially if they are using status weapons. As you can pile on a lot of status while hardly building up the mount. Really there are people who have made whole videos on how to use each weapon and the advantages of them. I'm just a guy that's saying hunting horn is cool, play it if you ever get the chance.
donuts82 I understand, I like and use all the weapons. And I too recommend trying new styles of play to newer players as they advance in their hunts! Really love how you can swap in combat now; Makes me into a one man army while hunting, and as like my hunter's name turns me into the true personification of death~ edited: well for monsters at least....
Michael Williams I've heard that if u damage the tail enough with a blunt weapon, you just need one cutting attack to severe it. So you can bring a boomerang and it will cut the tail after u damage it first with the horn. I haven't tried this myself because i use the lance if i want to break parts/ cut tails
Nick Sbordone will give it a try! Hunting horn also has a cutting attack but very limited in range... To do it you just need to press back as you do your second attack on!
At 0:56 I see that skull icon all the time, but sometimes on hunts it shows another icon of a tiny green-faced monster with a water droplet coming out of its mouth. What does that indicate?
Mister Duck That means they're exhausted IIRC. Generally that means say, Rathian won't be able to breath fire and Pukei won't puke poison etc. Plus they may stand around for a few seconds catching their breath so you get a free opening to wail on them
Ahhh, okay. Thank you for that. This is my first Monster Hunter experience but I'm absolutely loving this game. Almost 200 hours of gameplay and I'm still enjoying it!
Mister Duck Oooh! I just saw the icon I think you were taking about (Looked like a crocodile with sweat to me) That one is what the smaller Monster gets when a bigger Monster attacks it and it runs away so, there's a few different icons to remember. There's also the white eye means they notice you and the red eye means they are aggressive towards you. I wonder why those aren't in the little help menus...
Can some one help and tell me if my abilities stack? Ok I have mostly nerg armor for the maximum night which is lvl 3 I also have lvl 3 agitator and I have lvl 3 weakness exploit and lvl 5 attack boost with hbg so if my math is correct I should have somewhere around 96 affinity but when I attack my numbers look less then when I had lvl 4 agitator and lvl7 attack boost and lvl 3 max might no weakness exploit. Am I doing something wrong or do these numbers not stack with each other?
Daniel Goodwin RIGHT as the music changes/the exclamation point pops up, hit O (on PS4, not sure what button on Xbox). That’s it! To it again after every quest. After 2-3 quests carry him to the white flag by the commander for your first costume. ;)
Found regular gunpowderfish in a couple of places so far. One is in coral highlands in the southeast, quite near the lair where Tzitzi -Ya-Ku goes to rest. Just before you get up there look to the right and you will see a depression down below with a couple of angler fish going in circles. Stay at the top and put a fishing bait right in the middle of the anglers. and you will see a dark fish with red eyes grab the lure. That's the gunpowderfish. Apparently if you jump down into the depression, you will scare them off. There also supposedly a spot for fishing for them in the rotten vale. I haven't found great gunpowderfish yet.
Eastern Camp in Elders Recess has a chance to spawn gunfish (Think it's sector 8?). There's a pool behind the campsite with a Gastronome Tuna in the back, but the pool on the left side has loads of gunpowder fish. Look for one with bigger eyes, and that's your great gunpowder - low spawn rate though.
I love the game but im worried im not going to be able to get past a certain monster no matter what gear i have. Im not even at high rank yet. Can someone give me advice on what to do? Because i dont want to rage quit it and never play it again
frederico boydell If you want some free help, just start a quest and fire off a SOS flare and wait about 5 minutes and you will have a group of people that will make about any monster much easyer to tackle.
Make sure you are using a weapon that has the strongest element for that monster. you can look up all monsters weaknesses at fextalife.com. If you tell me which monster it is I could probably tell you more. good luck!
Richard of Mehh thank you for the advice! One of my main issues is monsters escaping the map when i have nearly killed them on expeditions. I reckon capcom should update it so you could turn that feature off and on so beginners like me can farm easier without pressure
frederico boydell no probemo. I would highly recommend doing investigations, you can get them from the resource center. Not only will the monster stay, but you get extra rewards and money at the end of it.
Salvador Chávez I disagree. Basic tips are like, eat before a hunt, you can capture monsters, sharpen your weapons. (Go look at any games media website ever) I have a friend that was in the rotten vale and was not cooking before a hunt... ever. Your obviously not new to the series and you should be looking up "end game tips" or something similar.
Boomstick Gaming yeah maybe it's a matter of perspective; maybe I expected something else from the advanced, as you say something end gaming. Regardless keep on with your work, I like your videos and the scenes with the name of each tip
Irishman checkin in yep intermediate cause advance is close to click baiting if I woulda know it was those basic tips and I’m new to the series I woulda never clicked Still a goood vid tho

Bandit Mantle only gives you items you can sell not the actual monster parts
yes this.
Actually every once and a while something else drops. Or i could be wrong but i thought so. It was so rare I quit using it
Jesus TheOmniscientKidd I watched a video that told me it drops gem then all I got was trade items! NotLikeThis
Irishman checkin in Plunder blade/plunderang drops more stuff and sometimes breaking parts can but generally Nah bandit is just for the Zenny
Irishman checkin It depends on the weapon your using. It's a chance per hit on the monster to drop so use dual blades as they are the fastest hitting weapon which means more chances of dropping items
you can hide your helmet in the options menu, so you can actually see your charackters face/hair... most people dont know this.
I saw that on my own. But I am low rank and love my maxed bone armor. So my helmet is visible. I may change it in the future
Something I found out but was pretty useful against the Anjanath was when you sharpen your weapon over a bush you are hidden.
Please note there actually is a health bar for monsters. There’s a pulse icon on his pictogram to the bottom right from the map icon.

Thanks i will try that
Holy crap, now I know why my custom layout always reset *facepalm*

I'm stealing this and sending it to IGN ASAP, thanks for the sweet guide

What a combo a badass thumbnail followed by a badass video keep it up

That ending! U have earned a follow
Thank you boom stick
Use the mushroomancer set and then revert to your hunting armor because the buffs stack and carry over from the nitroshrooms and parashrooms
Great tips! Also, that background music is soooo nostalgic! I wish they would implement it in MHW as well.
Hold R1 button when the handler or the quest board starts to zoom in it will fast foward the animation
Great info
Excellent choice of playing the classic Pokke Village music~
Ah yes, the pet pig. A classic staple for the series. I dressed mine as a watermelon back in the day. God, I need to get this game. It's calling to me.
Thank you these tips help

Might need to reevaluate what advanced means...
Midnight i was saying the same thing. Should change title to beginner tips n tricks.

The bandit mantel DOES NOT increase material drops. It says in the description that it breaks off “Trade-in” items.
Thanks a lot
You can actually change your cat armor color as well but have to do it when you are crafting armor for them and press start!
great video !!

So I'm far enough in the game that I had a cut scene before getting the quest to hunt Legiana. But since I haven't seen it roaming, I can't just go to it. Also happened with me earlier when I had to hunt Great Girros. No hunting level so no scoutflies to lead me to it.

Another tip, decorations are saved too, so a single jewel can be saved on many sets

Hey how do you get that helm ? Its pretty badass looking
My hunter looks identical to yours! Except mine has black eye shadow and silver tatoos that resemble thorns on his face! hahah.
I didn't know you could roll with cannonballs and eggs, you couldn't do this in previous installments.
you can roll while carrying a cannonball during the zorah magdaros fight.
Thanks for the poogie tip
Name that skull helmet!

I thought bandit mantle only gave sellable items not upgrade materials
Wheres this background music from again? Sounds familiar

Boomstick Gaming i would if i have a PS+ account but i cant afford one atm. But thank you for the advice :)
I came here expecting advanced NotLikeThis

Greg T We are all very impressed. Can't wait to see your new tips video, COMING SOON!
"Advanced Tips"
Gerardo Saldana "Im impressed"
Considering changing the title to basic, the advices are pretty basic and hunters should know that before going out of ancient forest
Regardless keep on with your work, I like your videos and the scenes with the name of each tip
your both sorta right. I'd split the middle and say intermediate tips. Was a good video regardless. 👍
Irishman checkin in yep intermediate cause advance is close to click baiting if I woulda know it was those basic tips and I’m new to the series I woulda never clicked
Still a goood vid tho
First? HOOOOBLLLLAHHHHHHH
