    Some tips i can give:
    - Your radial menu settings are tied to your item loadouts.
    - Monsters will drop 3 red pods based on how low their hp is. 1st(30%), 2nd(20%), 3rd(10%). Monsters can be captured at 25% health and lower, so when the 2nd pod is dropped it's a guaranteed capture. Pods dropped from clutch claw attacks do not count.
    - You can actually use tranq bombs before traps to capture. Tranq bomb effects linger for about a minute.
    - Enraged monsters(monster icon glowing red in minimap) will unrelentingly chase you everywhere until they are not enraged anymore. Scary, but this can be useful in certain cases where you want to lure them to a specific area where you can trigger environmental hazards(like falling rocks in ancient forest) to bring them down.
    - Turn off auto-sheathe in settings.
    - Slinger ammo can be fired while mounting. The damage contributes to the threshold for when the monster is ready for a mounting finisher.
    - Using the ping on your radial menu while stunned will alert your palico to help you out. Results may vary due to wonky cat A.I.
    - In Iceborne there is a new option in settings to turn on a silhouette of your hunter when a monster is in front of you blocking the camera.
    There's so many little things that the game does not tell you that I would say it's recommended to ask questions and look up guides.

    I’m sure someone mentioned this. But once you reach the rotten vale and already encountered Odogaron. You can then go on a expedition and try to encounter it again but hope for the monster to have a dead Legiana with it. It will drag it back to its den. You will see a wild cat (can’t spell it’s native name) anyways it will run and you will have to follow. Then once you follow it to where it’s going, you can lure it back from its hiding spot with a piece of raw meat. Put it down and a group of feral cats will dance around it and thank you. Then you will receive the Palico tool called plunderblade! In Icebourne, each palico tools can level to 15 and each has an additional support skill. Plunderblades is the tool which jumps on the monster and repeats a carving motion which drops lucrative scales that can be sold for money. A very good way to make millions when you’re fighting high end monsters. Hope this helps.
    Edit: excuse the typos!
    Late edit: Max rank for your feline friend is lvl 20.

    Some additional tips from the top of my head:
    - Nulberries nullify blights (water/fire/blast/thunder)
    - Lifepowder item heals all members in the hunting party within visible distance (all hunters must be in the same area)
    - Do not shoot a flashpod while a Monster is being mounted by another hunter. Especially, a flying one.
    - Cutting/Slicing weapons (Longsword/Dual blades/Greatsword etc.) - focus on the Monster's tail or legs (to trip it down).
    - Blunt/KO inducing weapons (Hammer/Hunting Horn etc.) - aim for the head.
    - While sleeping, its better to Clutch claw to the Monster's face and unload all of your Slinger ammo to KO force it into a wall (if the Monster is close to a wall) rather than the "Sleep-bomb" technique.
    - Cold drinks - carry in the Volcanic/Wasteland regions to prevent your Health depletion.
    - Hot drinks - carry in the Tundra/Snowy region to prevent your Stamina depletion.
    - Pressing Options button skips the eating food animation and cutscenes
    - You can shoot SOS signal to have hunters join your quest (sometimes not the brightest decision)
    - Monster Hunter has one of the best gaming communities so if you need help - ask!
    ~Happy Hunting to all the new hunters!

    Stun Resist 3 - Stuns are basically a death sentence. Most common cause of death in my experience.
    Speed Eating 2 - Getting hit again before/while you drink a health potion is the second most common cause of death.
    Health Boost 2 to 3 - This turns some oneshot deaths into twoshots, which you can recover from with Speed Eating.

    As a returning player (over 2 years of absence) for over a month now and I really missed this game and fell in love with it all over again, finally got to try all the DLC and most events (are the special events now permanent?) that I missed out on. Here’s a few tips for newer players:
    Play the game however you please too. It’s simple really theirs many optional builds you can try and yes try all the weapons! You do not need to stick to one main weapon, some are really fun, some take time to master. I have 4 different weapons I tend to use.
    Make sure you loot everything (unless you wanna attempt challenge runs). Probably the number one rule because you need loot to upgrade, craft items etc.
    Do not rush the game! I have 2 accounts one for my solo and one with friends and my friends all rushed the game and we’ve hit master rank with no farming, just basically going from boss to boss. And if you’re playing for story (honestly it ain’t that interesting to me) then yeah that’s fine but if you wanna play more tactical then farming is required especially on later weapons and equipment.
    Farming through investigation. If you’re planning on farming then do it through investigations, not through expeditions. Bosses drop more loot this way or small animals depending what you’re after.
    Take your time and have fun! Honestly paste yourself slowly through the game, get to know the area and environments. It’s a beautiful game to look at as well. You’ll learn what to bring and what to leave at base the more you know about the maps. Always look up guides online, theirs information about loot, each bosses. Research everything as well because even I didn’t know you can get random boss drops by researching tracks!
    Have fun guys!

      Also, when you're comfortable with your money situation, do your best to buy 9999 of everything you can from a hub vendor during a festival. Everything but Power/Armor charms will be half off, so you can stock up on potions, trap tools and ammo to the absolute maximum.
      I do this almost every fest... just one less thing to worry about, and you can save a ton of cash/cultivation time.
      Like buy 10k spread 1 ammo, 10k gunpowder 2, 10k gunpowder 3. Then craft all the spread 3 you can, up to 10k. Buy gunpowder 3 to 10k again. Buy spread 1 to 10k again, and craft spread 2 to 10k. Then buy gunpowder 2 to 10k again. Finally, buy spread 1 to 10k again, and you now have 9999 spread 1, 2 and 3. That's enough ammo to last months, considering you also have 9999 gunpowder 2/3 to make even more spread ammos.
      If you use guns with any kind of frequency, festivals should be your call to refill all your ammunition.

    1. Pick the weapon you like most (the most comfortable for you), not the best one (the one you watched on youtube)
    2. Get some rest after a few hours playing.
    3. You'll die a lot, sometimes in the most ridiculous way, get used to it, it's totally normal.
    4. Don't skip Grandma cat cooking animation, it could make your stress disappear.

    Some tips that I’ve acquired (PC player here, but likely applicable to PS4 as well):
    - At the provisions center, when you sell items, you don’t have to search for your trade-in items (the items that have no use outside of being sold). On PC, by default pressing R allows you to automatically sell all of your trade-in items at once. According to 5:37, it happens to be the triangle key for PS4.
    - On PC if you want to skip routine dialogue (for example, from the Handler or the Botanical Research Center), you can press Esc to skip to their last line of dialogue, which brings down the number of prompts you need to tap through to 2. Minor boost in convenience. Not certain if there’s a button for this on PS4.
    - At the Steamworks in Seliana (which you unlock early on into the Iceborne campaign), when you “Help the Steamworks”, you’ll get a prompt to “Auto-convert” items into fuel. Always accept this, as the items you convert on this particular screen can only be used as Steamworks fuel. This is not to be confused with the “Add Fuel” screen, which allows you to convert otherwise useful ores into fuel as well.
    - Multiplayer hunting etiquette. Performing attacks that hit other players won’t directly damage them, but could cause them to “flinch” and make them helpless. So be careful not to hit your teammates (this is especially true for me as a dual blades main). Typically you want blunt attacking folks like hammers to hit the head for KO’s, and severing attacking folks (anything that’s a blade) to try to cut off the monster’s tail (most monsters’ tails are severable). You can also upgrade the flinch free skill to prevent yourself from getting flinched by other players.
    I’ll keep updating this if I remember other stuff

      Because hunting horn(HH) is the most beloved teammate but the less played in the MH world. If you're a HH everyone will love you and you'll be accepted into any party. However. you also need to stock up on itens for healing since you're basically a buffer/healer guy with tremendous damage and knockout when played correctly.

  • @uncledoctor6920
    @uncledoctor6920 4 роки тому +38

    Tip: don't eat just the chefs choice platter before a hunt. Use ingredients that give you attack up (L). You'll lose out on health, but to offset it all you have to do is cultivate the ingredients to make max potions in the garden, then pop one before each fight to max out your health bar.
    Cultivate 4 things; bitterbug, blue mushroom, honey, and mandragora. Combine bitterbug and blue mushroom to make nutrients, then the nutrients and honey to make mega nutrients, and then combine the mega nutrients and mandragora to make max potions. Keep a steady supply of all 4 and you'll never want for healing at the beginning of or during a hunt, and you can eat food that gives you an attack boost.
    BONUS: you can bring mega nutrients and mandragora along with you on a hunt and set them to auto craft more max potions, so instead of having only 2, you can craft a few more while in the field.

    • @thegoblin3629
      @thegoblin3629 3 роки тому +1

    • @uncledoctor6920
      @uncledoctor6920 3 роки тому

      @@thegoblin3629 np man glad you're getting into it. I don't know what ingredients are in my go-to meal offhand but there's a dozen videos on the subject. Check out a video and go after the quests that give you the ingredients.
      Another tip for you for when you get into the really tough hunts; when you've got a decent supply of max potion ingredients, start cultivating might berries and the stuff needed to make demon drug and demon powder. Take might berries, demon drug and powder with you on hunts and pop em all before you start a fight, these along with your food bonus all stack, and will max out the damage you can get from buffs ahead of a fight.

  • @pegasaurisrex9707
    @pegasaurisrex9707 4 роки тому +4

    Bonus tip: Not all quests can be found in the bounty board. Best example is that every single region (PC player here, so I am unsure if Hoarfrost is an exception) has a native tribe of grimalkynes. After your second visit or so, you should be able to find a researcher in the region with a ! on the minimap. Talking to him will send you on a quest to study the tribes, which will give you things like new opportunities in the field and tools for your palico. Important to note, the quests are pretty much unmarked. You can get confused quite fast if you just click through what the researcher says, without reading any of it.

    To add to this, I do have something to say on my perception of the Guardian/Defender items. The devs reasoning is for you to basically "blast" your way to Master Rank. While this is good I think overall for the game, I don't think this one aspect of catching up covers everything. Blasting through low and hard rank is gonna leave you shallow on decorations. You've got to remember that MH players farmed HR Temp Elders for MONTHS before Iceborne and master rank came to be. Blasting your way past all of that is going to leave you low on rare/useful deco's. You also may miss a lot of tools/mantles. On top of that, many of the weapon trees don't offer a base MR model...you'd still have to go back and farm some LR and HR monsters to get started on some weapon trees. Basically you still have to go back and catch up in some fashion or another so the Defender items don't really just allow you to catch up through their power alone.
