    I completely agree with all of your insights as a SN. The biggest point I only just realized a couple of years ago that completely changed my wardrobe and how classy, feminine, and elongated I felt in my clothes was getting rid of all high/chunky/busy collar shirts. They made me completely loose my neck and look so broad shouldered, like a football player in pads, lmao. Now, all of my tops have a square (my favorite), princess/sweetheart, or V neckline. I instantly feel elegant when i make space between my face and where my shirt begins.
    If i have to wear a higher neck for warmth in the winter i try to stick with something more drapey like a gentle cowl neck sweater (just a gentle cowl or relaxed looser turtleneck, not a big chunky or swoopy cowl) and I will wear a slightly messy updo to open up that neck space and not have heavy hair hanging down over the neck.

      @JB-tt6ct Рік тому

      What about collars? I have several v neck(polo style) that are less casual but they have collars. Is that a no no or can be fixed somehow, cause otherwise it fits SN

    • @SweetImmaculateHeart
      @SweetImmaculateHeart Рік тому +5

      @@JB-tt6ct i think the most important thing is how you actually feel in it. If you feel comfortable, put together, and not stuffy or "claustrophobic" in it, and when you look in the mirror your proportions feel balanced enough and not too boxy or frumpy to you, then wear them now and then if you like them. These are just guidelines for what looks "best", but I think we all deviate from them from time to time and that's okay.
      I personally do not like how polo shirts look on me, they are too stiff and square and rarely tend to accommodate for the width in my shoulders and chest to not feel restrictive on me when they are fitted properly, and if I size up to try to get that room then they end up looking sloppy and ill fitting. So I don't wear them.
      I opt for casual v neck blouses in drapey fabrics like silk, rayon, or soft linens. Some have collars, but they usually lay flat against the blouse, more like a lapel rather than a stiff collar that stands upright perpendicular to the blouse (such as with polos or stiff dress shirt).
      Hope that helps!

    • @JB-tt6ct
      @JB-tt6ct Рік тому

      @@SweetImmaculateHeart thanks for a long answer. Maybe I could tuck the collar inside. Polo shirt is maybe the wrong term but I have no better one to describe the style. The collars are longer triangles that mostly lie flat on my clavicles, like wings on the v-neck. I thought the diagonals would actually visually slim down my broad shoulders and big chest. Its hard for me to pull a SN flattering and yet demure professional look with a big chest, especially in the summer V neck that's my size reveals the chest, oversized hangs too low and boob crack again.(stiffer materials are frumpy on me as well)

    • @SweetImmaculateHeart
      @SweetImmaculateHeart Рік тому

      @@JB-tt6ct yes! A collar that lays flat with a v neck definitely works for me. I feel you on the bosom revealing thing. I don't have a large chest, but i am quite modest and don't love showing any cleavage. This is why i really gravitate to square necklines most. Lots of upper chest/clavicle space but not showing cleavage.

    • @robinarman7300
      @robinarman7300 Рік тому +1

      @@JB-tt6ctI also still struggle to find the balance between open neckline to break the shoulder line and office-appropriate modesty with bigger chest. Zippered collar top are worth trying since you still have metallic accent that breaks the width but you can better control how much skin to show. Btw I'm SN too but the only type of collars are no-go's for me are frilly ornate ones, and high neck/mock neck while regular shirt collars I find super flattering especially with drapey/blousey/knit fabric so it's not stiff like menswear shirt collars. And I love polo shirts lol, maybe it's cuz I do have a sportier vibe going for me but my favorite ones would give me the perfectly relaxed waist definition and with 2 buttons undone it doesn't feel too revealing. The only polo shirts that look bad on me are those merch ones with straight waist basically meant for men.

    You are so right about ballet flats! I really dislike how they look on me unless they have a bit of a heel. I feel like my heel is visually sinking into the ground and my toes are higher. I do have delicate ankles but they make the rest of my legs look heavy in contrast.

    Yes yes about ballet flats! I love them but my calves do look disproportionately huge in them. I'm SN-ish but without any vertical (barely 5'2 with short, rounded limbs, and small hands and feet - size 4 feet and slim ankles) and ballet flats just don't work. Strappy flat sandals are fine though, probably because they show more skin thus giving a more spacious look. Your advice about shoes are great! Thank you!

    💜 Never knew why I've always loved flowy, comfortable outfits. Even when they're professional, I never liked anything too tight. Moreover, florals and patterns are my thing. I think it's instinctive to be drawn to one's natural self. This is where nature never fails you; you'll get drawn to your type again and again despite hiccups in style and fashion journey, which is fun tbh. I hope we connect more and more to our intuition. 🌞

    Something off topic from SN - but on body types: I’ve wondered if there’s a particular outfit that just screams each body type? For example: “if you can wear this… it’s a good indication that you’re --- bodytype.” Just because I notice throughout the videos, there are some outfits that are just really suited to one type in particular for effortless cohesion. I know there are ways to kind of make things work for you, even if you’re not necessarily suited to those lines, or patterns, etc.; however, I feel like knowing the specific outfit the flamboyant gamines knock out of the park, or the one look that just elevates a classic like none other… anyhow- I wonder what your opinion might be on those hot takes for each body type. All the best.

I look best in scoop/squared necklines and typically avoid turtlenecks and high neck shirts because I can feel too top-heavy. I also love high waisted jeans that hug my hips but are looser at the bottom. Boyfriend jeans just don't work on me because I can look squared and stocky. Thank you so much for this guide, as a petite SN I had no clue what to wear in summer ⛱️🌞

    Soft Naturals are my favorite. I think they can pull off many many looks and look very in harmony.
    I'm a SC who wishes she was a SN

      The only downside of being SN is feeling like a chunky potato in anything tight fitting😂😢

      @@di3486 😂 yes! Anything tight. Ugh. End up feeling like a giant who has squeezed into doll clothes (even if they technically fit). Relaxed draped fabrics are a game changer. I’ve recently discovered the magic of certain kinds of chunky shoes & platforms…wow! So much better.

      @@di3486That’s not a SN thing. SNs look great in bodycon because we have the frame and curviness for it. Clingy dresses are even recommended in the book. Bodycons look bad on people with less frame or curve

      @@user-iw4yl7fp9p One of the main rules of SN is: NO to bodycon. If you look good in it, you are NOT an SN Or you are a very slim SN. I look like a burrito in anything too tight. SN width requires space between you and the fabric.

    I am a definite soft natural but I only look good when I lose weight. At the moment I am quite slim but fleshy and I look so much better when I am lean. So I don't know how to dress because curves just don't fit me

    If the body proportions didn’t explain it, the style recommendations definitely make me a SN! These are all the shapes and cuts that I’ve been naturally drawn to, but without realizing why. I think that lack of knowledge led me to want to try styles that I liked in my mind, but then couldn’t figure out why they looked poor next to my instinctual choices.

    Hi Aly! Do you have a video on nails for kibbie types?

  • @ellem8990

    Omg the shoe thing. I've been so bothered by how often the shoe recommendations leave no room for variations within the body type. Aly did tho and I'm glad.
    For example, my feet are kinda small in porportion to the rest of me and I am fairly muscular and fleshy, so I've felt like a lot of the SN shoe recommendations don't work for me and I even doubted myself or if I had misidentified my type. Now I'm sure that I definitely wasn't in the wrong. I think I need a bit more "chunk" in my shoes than some other soft naturals.
