The many PHOTOGRAPHIC EXAMPLES you have chosen make everything you're saying so CLEAR. Thank you!
Agree lol she is thorough!
That blouse is amazing on you, Aly!
Yes, this white blouse and and white jeans look gourgous on her!
This is a REVELATION! I've always struggled with summer style because I always felt like I looked like a slob in comfortable styles that look cute on other women. This gives me some great direction!
This video explained to me why so many styles I've tried looked "fake" or unflattering on me. I'm now pretty sure this is my body type.
Yes! I look like a giant toddler in denim shorts and i didn't know why. They look so cute on other people. 🙃
UA-camr Lorry Hill will soon be putting out a video interviewing David Kibbe. She was asking her subscribers what questions we wanted to ask him. She said he is updating his book and it should be out this fall. ❤
Thank you for the information! I did some research and am stunned, can't wait for her video!
This video still doesn’t exist, right? 🙃
This is why short, color blocked, outfits especially with a short flared skirt look crazy on me. These styles are definitely ones that I gravitate towards. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Your expertise, analyses and examples help me so much. Thank you!
What about a video on different hair stylings on different body types. Not just the different hair cuts but updos and braids and aesthetics achieved through styling. Kind of a big topic but I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately.
Unpopular opinion perhaps… but very thin dramatic classics can often be mistaken for flamboyant gamines OR at the very least pull off a lot of FG clothes. So if you feel drab or “old” in these kind of straight, tailored, monochrome clothes and you tend to be on the leaner side… try some more playful gamine stuff (especially for summer). I’m about 5’7 120 lbs but I can totally raid my FG mom’s closet and a lot of her clothes work AMAZINGLY well for me… and to be real FG clothes are way more fashionable, sexy, and fun than DC clothes 😅
Side note… Audrey Hepburn was (in my personal opinion) a severely underweight DC who had a lot of FG essence and she’s literally the kibbe prototype of FG… so there’s that lol
Thank you Aly! Absolutely useful each detail as a dramatic classic myself 👗👖👕
I’ve watched a ton of these videos and only just got around to watching the “Aly Sings” playlist. Oh. My. Goodness. I have just found my new favorite background music. Phenomenal voice. If anyone else hasn’t seen it yet, seriously, head on over there!
This is definitely me (my body type) and totally my style. I agree with everything (what should & should not wear) I always feel that Aly always gets it 100% right! Smart lady.
I‘m Dramatic Classic, but the typical recommended style is not really my vibe at all. (Definitely my twin sister‘s though!) But I love the theory behind it because I think it‘s accurate and it‘s been pretty helpful! So thanks Aly! :)
That because DC clothing is boring and a bit “old” looking. I love DC for winter. Looks super sharp… but as a young woman a lot of our style recommendations for DC are not age appropriate and make us look older than we are 😢
@@EvaLou42 For real! My style is more 1700s men‘s fashion. Especially riding attire! But it‘s cool because the Kibbe System still works! A long tailcoat maintains a long vertical line and provides sharp details like the lapels, so it works :)
Waiting for Soft Natural summer looks... thank you Aly ❤❤
I'm a dramatic classic, I get the most compliments in suits, classic pieces, trench coats, old money preppy outfits. BUT, Kibbe says classics gain weight mainly on the hips, which isn't the case for me, and doesn't look like the case for the example celebs you showed. I gain weight equally all over, which I think is what a moderate classic means? Isnt it supposed to be romantics who have luscious hips that get plumper with weight?
Don't focus on where you gain weight or what Kibbe says about these details, fabric weight, garment's construction and how it fits your body is way more important, Kibbe is a dressing system after all
Thank you so much for this huge and super detailed work !! 🙏
Thank you Aly! Was waiting for this one!❤
Thank you Aly. I really appreciate this information.
This is the video that will SAVE ME. I live in a hot, very humid climate, so this is perfect. Thank you so much!!❤
This made so much sense! Thank you ❤ It’s funny cause some of the points you made are what I’ve noticed and this helped solidified that I am a dramatic classic.
You are so good doing this! It's great the way you described everything. Thanks a lot! Finally, now in my 50s, I have understood many things about clothing that until now I had only guessed at, but did not really understand
Wow! This was great! Aly, you provided wonderful photo examples. So much hard work went in to this post. Thanks so much❤
the best DC video ever! Thanks a lot 😍🫶
This is the most useful video i have ever watched! Amazing recommendatoons and answers all my questions including "why this looks weird on me". Thank you Aly, so happy to see you progressing and your channel is growing :)
Great job! This was very helpful! I love ALL your videos! ❤️
I’m so grateful for this ❤
Thank you so much! I'm looking forward for Soft Classic recommendations
Great video Aly! Your explanations are very easy to understand. Thank you, 💕
Another great video!!! Thank you so much for the information!!!
Perfect! I’m on the right track! Thanks! 💕
Aly, thanks for this video! I always enjoy watching your Kibbe vids because they really help me in my wardrobe. Ever since I measured myself, determined myself to be a dramatic classic and dressed for that type, my sense of style has improved dramatically, as well (pun not intended lol) and I've upgraded my wardrobe slowly ever since.
I would love for you to talk about sports or workout outfits that suit dramatic classic! (Tops, bottoms, shoes, bags, fabric, etc.) I wanna work on being fit while still looking stylish loool
Waiting tr like crazy! Great job!
This is so good. I m a DC and I agree on this. On every example you have showed. Thanks, this helps a lot.
And what is funny: I have a pastel yellow polo shirt but with a black striped collar and a few days ago my mom complimented me on wearing it. And now you say in your video that a contrasted colour on the collar looks great on DC :D
I had doubts about your classification. Decided to to watch this after taking your test. I'm impressed ! It's really just like me.
I love romantic looks but it always feels wrong on my body and I naturally go for structured pieces. I appreciate all the pictures!
I love your blouse, Aly!
this was soooooooo helpful and amazingly and efficiently articulated. thank you!
Brilliant video, thank you so much!!
This video was very helpful. Thank you!
You're amazing. I learned a lot and now I know why certain styles work/don't work for me ❤ Thank you!
This is great- answers all my questions- and I finally know for sure that I am a dramatic classic. Also, You look extra radiant today, Aly!
She does look great doesn't she?
Thank you so so much for the Aly, the best video for DC outfits I've ever seen! Please do more like this 👍💞
Fantastic tips, thank you 😅
This is so right on! It describes me to a tee!
can't wait for the soft natural!!❤
I’ve been on a crazy kibbie journey and am finally coming to see that I’m a DC (maybe a FG) and this video is so helpful!
Sooo good!! Thank you!!
that's very convenient thank u , i'm a dramatic classic with 5ft9 height and I always wondered why big fluffy dress or gipsy skirts looks so bad on me ( my body get lost in them ) now i understand why
Priceless adfvice. Thank you!
I loveeeed iiiiit gracias!!!!
Thank you, you nailed my style
Watching this, I now believe I am a combination of Dramatic Classic with a bit of Natural mixed in. I definitely look better with those styles in this video. At last, I now know how to best dress!
Amazing video! ❤ You are always very beautiful!
Enjoying your videos!
Dear Aly, please do a video about special occasion/evening/black tie event for the body types. Thank you
Spot on for me...thank you! Now I understand why loose light fabric tops like t-shirt with drape neck etc never suit me. I'm thinking may be same reason dresses with loose flowy hems..like asymmetric or high low hems etc also make my legs look too angular... despite having fairly thin long legs.
Thank you so much!!❤
Please do tattoos for the body types! ❤
I'm still feeling stuck between FN and DC and the lines are so similar to me that its hard to decide with clothes.
Thank you ❤
Please do soft natural
Thank you😇👍
Thanks Aly! Could you do a video on some companies that specialize in clothing for each body type? I have a hard time finding structured pieces as a dramatic.
same.. particularly stores that are based in / easily ship to europe
Great video!
Pls do a video in lounge wear for the body types. ESP dramatic classics
It seems that all the lines recommended for classics are very similar, with slight differences in detailing that don't seem to make a big difference. I would classify myself as either a pure classic or soft classic, but I prefer wearing dramatic classic details as they make me look more formal while soft classic lines make me look more casual. But I can't tell whether one of these looks more harmonious on me than the other
8:09 I love that outfit with the two colours
thanks that helps a lot
Much needed
Thanks! I am dramatic classic
more dramatic/classic please
Thank you for the valuable information!! Just a question. At the beginning you say that DC should not wear contrasted outfits but one colour from top to bottom. And later at the "separates" section you say that contrasted top and bottoms look great. I am a little comfused...☺☺
We need tr next
Hello Aly, once again, a very well detailed explanation of dramatic classic style. Of all the body types, I resonate most with the dramatic classic type. I've made up my mind, that's what I am, as opposed to a dramatic gamine. I had a bit of confusion going on, especially since I am only 5'4". Though people often think I am taller.
I have an unusual "request" may I suggest that you use the words "bottom" or "bum" instead of "butt" ? It's just more classy.
Also, when you talked about "calves" you pronounced it as " cuffs", which is that extra fold at the bottom of your pants.
English teacher here, I hope it's not offensive.
Cheers!
This videos have made me realize I've made many misinformed choices regarding clothes, so I appreciate them. I'd like to know...do you think it's useful to try to find my body type when I'm fairly overweight? Do you suggest working around it? If so, I'd appreciate the imput. Thank you ❤
ua-cam.com/video/Qmjss-BVnJQ/v-deo.html
This is her video on weight and body types. She has a whole Kibbe video playlist starting with the basics which is very helpful. Everybody can have a "Kibbe style archetype" regardless of their weight. You still have bones, you still have proportions... Using the term "body type" instead of "style archetype" is addressed in one of her early videos, too.
@@KelsaurusRex I'll run to check it. Thank you!
Please do soft dramatic ❤❤❤
She did about 1 month ago
I'm a dramatic classic, with slight undertones (according to the Kibbe quiz) of flamboyant gamine. I'm somewhere between 5'6" & 5'7". I lean more into the dramatic classic body lines for what I'm looking for in my own clothing, but I've found certain lines from the flamboyant gamine can fit my body style. It's be fairly hard for me to find Summer dresses and skirts that I enjoy wearing because the fabric looks and feels like a bed sheet to me normally, but leaning towards chiffon makes a lot of sense! I've also found that I can wear a A-line skirts and dresses, so long as they don't have too much flare and fabric---so more like a partial A-line than a full A-line. Fit & flares also tend to be my favourites as well! Do any dramatic classics have any other clothing recommendations?
This is me too. I think Audrey Hepburn (kibbe verified and prototype FG) was a very thin DC… so I think DCs can often look and feel better in FG lines/style. I’m constantly raiding my FG mom’s closet 😅 but if you’re looking for style inspiration for this DC/FG “type” just look no further than Audrey Hepburn.
Theatrical romantic, please!
❤❤❤
I noticed if I wear a structured, short dress for example, I can skip the waist emphasis, otherwise I will never give it up! 😅
I just hope the Kibbe Types UA-camrs would start using more relatable real life bodies and sizes, we are not all skinny models , that's what confuses most people interested in knowing their type..
ALY PLS POST TR NEXT I NEED IT FOR BUYING CLOTHES 😭💀
So question, have you any tips for a dramatic classic who is carrying weight on tummy (after babies) and is just a little short waisted?
Theatrical romantic next pls
Hello! I consider myself DC (I'm angular, 5'7 and have long thin bones) however I have well-defined waist, I'm an hourglass or even pear-ish. Giving that can I be DC or it's another type? At first I thought I could be classic but angularity shifted my thinking towards DC
You also mentioned contrast look good on DC, what kind of contrast can you recommend for soft summer type? since we are no so good in high contrast and morre soft, muted. Or soft contrast also counts?
And the last question is what dress is on the 5:00 ? can you tell the brand?
Thanks a lot for your videos! love them!!! You're doing such a serious work !
Kisses from Russia
@taisiiakrivoruchenko8011- Ellie Jean at Body and Style did a great video on Colour Seasons and how to interpret them which I think could be helpful for you with this! Basically, you just use the versions of colours in your colour palette that best fits the description. So instead of lemon yellow and royal blue (think Snow White - a Winter) your high contrast might be dusky pink and hunter green.
Soft Dramatic please.
This is very helpful...Please do true gamine type..❤❤❤
She did it last week
Can you please link the top? Link doesn’t work. Thnx!
Also, what do you mean by symmetry? Aren't most people vaguely symmetrical?
Hi Aly, thanks a lot!!! Did i hear IT right: we can wear/look good in contrasted colours/patterns in shirts/blouses and trousers?
and especially contrast near the face?
For example stripes at the top and polka dots/flowers at the bottom but the patterns or colors should have a strong contrast? I'm a summer type (soft or true) + who doesn't harmonize so well with bold colors...
I mean 7:50 - 9:05
does the statement apply to tops and skirts only?
Yes correct! Thank you )))
It applies to dresses and color blocks too. But if you are very soft - just choose more muted and soft color combinations from your pallette!
Yes… totally supports my theory in the cross over towards Flamboyant gamine in thinner DCs. The thinner the DC the more she probably can/should lean towards FG… the softer the DC the more she should stick to the traditional DC recommendations.
For example, in this video she mentions a “twiggy” inspired 60s dress for DC. Twiggy was a kibbe verified FG. This is a good recommendation more for the leaner DCs… for curvier or overweight DCs they should avoid color blocking (especially with bright colors) or anything too short, angular, boxy, or asymmetrical. Stick to the classic DC look with a long silhouette and a monochromatic look.
Funny cuz I’ve always hated denim shorts on me. I always liked suit shorts on Me
As a DC myself, mom jeans, culottes, or wide leg jeans simply don't work for me. They make my legs look wider and short, and it shortens my height visually too. I prefer skinny jeans and boyfriend jeans that end at the ankles or slightly above. Ripped jeans do work sometimes but only if it's minimal, not super distressed, and if the jeans are skinny. And leggings and sportswear that is fitted looks great on me too because again, they are narrow and fitted to my shape.
I might be a dramatic classic
Okay, I have to ask. What kind of undergarment are you wearing with your top?? The top looks so sheer and delicate and I find when I try on anything like this, you can see my bra even if it is nude😂
Some of this info is great, but it seems to only cover skinny women. What about classics who are overweight?
Unfortunately not enough photos. I mostly use celebrities who are in Kibbes celebrity list.
is kate mideltton dramatic classic ?
No she isnt
FN with a classic essence 😊
4:41
So I can be DC being 5'8? Because my proportions are rather DC.
No, at 5'8 you can be D, SD, or FN
5'8 is on the border. Dramatic classic and dramatic certainly have a lot in common so you can play around with that and see if you are more sharpened-balanced or more overall sharp/angular.
Lily Aldridge - who seems to be an archetypal DC - is 5’9’. This is what led me to believe that I may also be a DC (at 5’9)
The height restrictions are ridiculous. Humans are getting taller and taller
@@Lindalindali the height limits are not ridiculous. They make a lot of sense. And you will keep staying angry if you see any accomodation as a "negative characteristic" That you want to hide and get rid of.
Every one has 1 singilar ID. You don't have 3 or 5 or 7. Disqualifying some by accomodation makes it EASIER for you to find the one that fits you, instead of harder.
The image ID system isn't about deciding what you like and then getting angry aboutabything that tells you that maybe it's not the best fit. It's about finding what suits you most naturally
I think this is my body type, my body is too feminine to be dramatic but also too sharp and angular to be too feminine if that makes sense
I love this series but I'm afraid summer's going to over before you get to soft gamine. 😭
