  • Lentils are the best! One of the cheapest and healthiest foods out there, packed with protein, zinc, iron and antioxidants. If you aren't eating them, you will be after this video! Check down below for a free lentil recipe from my Ebook Easy Vegan Muscle Meals. How do you like to eat lentils? #lentils #simnettnutrition #veganism
    One Pot Red Lentil Curry
    • 1 package (450g) of split red lentils, rinsed and drained (no soaking needed)
    • 1 tbsp red curry paste
    • 1/2 diced onion
    • 4 large carrots, chopped
    • 1/2 head of cauliflower, chopped • 1-2 cups frozen peas
    • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
    • Chopped cilantro (optional)
    METHOD
    1. Place lentils in a large pot and add red curry paste, chopped carrots and cauliflower and onion. Add water to cover and place on medium high heat.
    2. Allow to boil and reduce to medium heat. Cook for approx 10-15 minutes. Periodically check and stir pot to make sure everything is cooking evenly. The lentils are cooked when soft.
    3. Reduce heat to simmer and add the frozen peas, chopped bell pepper and cilantro.
    4. Turn off heat when there is no water left in the pot and serve!
You can also add in other vegetables or substitute in other vegetables you have on hand (for example: mushrooms, broccoli, zucchini, frozen corn). Leftovers are best kept in fridge in an airtight container for 4-5 days.

I am indian and in Ayurveda which is the ancient Indian medical system it is recommended to use dry ginger powder while cooking lentils. Never eat canned versions and always soak overnight, cook it in open lid pan instead of any cooker. While cooking the white foam can be removed which is usually the lecithin and other anti nutrients.

I have a huge respect for Indian culture. But please, do not spread misinformation. The content of the foam is basically same as the water it's cooking in.
I see no reason why you should avoid cookers or cook it in open lid. Fresh ginger is always the best, but it's fine to use whatever.

Bro I’m grateful to your channel, I’m only in my 2nd week of Veganism, and your channel was recommended amongst many others.
I watched PBN’s 52 minute doccie on LENTILS and I was shook at the benefits of the bean👌🏿 looked for recipes and yours popped up again and I love how you’ve prepared yours here along with other ingredients.
I am South African and Lentils grow pretty much everywhere here, been a very new veganist I’m soooo gonna five deep into eating them.
Thank you for your great content and educating many people out there, though I’m only on my 8th day of Veganism today,I’m mixing it with Intermittent Fasting, I feel good so far but the challenge is real, having to say no to meat, dairy, sugar, fizzy drinks after 41 years of my existence is no joke,I’m however, taking it one day at a time,I’m in no rush nor in competition with no one and this is a battle I want to win and prove to ignorant people that VEGANISM IS THE WAY and not only is it the way but THE BEST WAY TO THE BEST HEALTH out there.
After watching PBN’s Doccie and your enthusiastic approach to Veganism I am firmly convinced that THE MEAT INDUSTRY’s dominance is slowly but surely getting crippled.
My aim with this is to be a great example to my people that VEGANISM works, one can build a healthy body and mind through this lifestyle,if I can do it then anybody can do it.
Peace Be upon you bro and May your channel grow to a Million subscribers, I am new subscriber and love your channel, I will spread to my friends as soon as I reach the physique that’s gonna speak for itself😉 coz right now I’m not really there...I’m a cyclist, runner, walker and jump rope I’m a relatively fit guy,I’m a huge fan of Intermittent Fasting.
I took up a healthy lifestyle only last year in March 2020, when I began I was an obese blob at a scale breaking 92kg and with steady work over the past 12 months came down to a leaner 68KG, my goal is to get to as low as 65KG, with my new PBD I’m pretty certain I’m gonna get there, only then am I gonna start lifting weights to build muscle,I do have muscle but my body’s not as defined...by beginning October I should be ripped enough to show off, only then will I refer peeps to your channel should they ask how I did it with no meat and other dangerous sources of protein.
    Your new fan✌🏿🇿🇦

I just started adding lentils to my rice- 1 cup raw puy lentils to 2 cups raw basmati rice - lentils cooked on the stove with onions and carrot and rice in a rice cooker and then mixed together- really tastes pleasant and not adding too much flavour so works as a healthier rice alternative! Have tried this with various beans and rice and this works the best so far

I bought morning star burgers.so I put some tofu on my burger. I’ve been eating oatmeal filled with blueberries.and cinnamon! Or a smoothie filled with blueberries and a banana and blackberries! Thank you for everything you do to help us!

@@CastledarkDweller27 The king Nebuchadnezzar did oblige Daniel and Daniel requested to eat pulse (lentils, beans etc) and drink water for 10 days from the king instead of the Kings meats and wines which they had been living on for 3 years under the Kings orders. Daniel didn't want to defile himself anymore with the Kings meats and wines, Daniel wanted to prove to the king that he and his friends would be healthier eating pulse's and drinking water instead of the rich wines and meats the king had been offering them. After 10 days on this new eating and drinking regime the king saw how healthy the 4 friends faces looked compared to the Kings other servants who ate the meats and drank the wines and the king took away all meats and wine from the servants and gave them pulse's and water probably much to the kings remaining servants disgust and disappointment! After Daniel's 10 day experiment God gave Daniel and his three friends knowledge, wisdom and skill of learning and to Daniel the understanding of dreams and visions. You should read the story in the Holy Bible ( or Google Holy Bible Daniel 1:1-17 which is this story) it's very interesting why Daniel wanted to show the king the difference a diet can make to people physically and spiritually. The rest of the book of Daniel is also full of amazing spiritual insights too just like all the stories in the Holy Bible.

@Nicky J They are so good. It's Ironic before I was vegan I used to have to go to the gym for at least an hour a day and always had trouble with my weight my entire life. I watched my carb intake and it was always a losing battle. High blood pressure for the last 12 years started when I was 30 and continually crept up on me. Finally I decided to go Vegan, I eat more food and Carbs than ever before, I have lost almost 50 lbs and I am down to 175 lbs, my highs chool weight, and I have perfect blood pressure for the first time in 12 years after trying every supplement and remedy under the sun to lower it.

Nicky J Thanks so much. 😊🥦🌱🥒🍃🌿🙌🏼. We are originally from Cuba and Taro is a pretty big part of the diet there along with Yuca and Sweet Potato. We had a lot of bunnies in our yard, but for some reason they did not eat the veggies up and eventually I think they grew up and moved some where else. Papayas are Perennials like the Pigeon peas and the longevity spinach, they give fruit for years. We give a lot away because they produce so much. Switching to a Vegan Plant Based diet has been the best thing I have ever done in so many ways. I am really grateful that I found the diet in early enough time to save my health and enjoy growing my own food for my family. So exciting to try so many new foods now that where off limits before because of carbs.

Top tips from a lentil lover!
-Cook with onion and garlic to increase the zinc absorption (I also like to add chopped raw pepper on top for VitC)
-The nutritional content differs between varieties (bit of info on google)
-If you struggle to eat a lot of lentils due to gas/bloating eat more red split lentils as they have half the fiber content (& therefore anti-nutrients) but are still full of nutrition and protein!
BONUS TIP: try cooking red split lentils with onion, garlic, mushrooms and gravy spices to make a thick red lentil gravy to pour over a big plate of veggies (easy meal)
