    I own a TX200HC in .177 and its the smoothest and quietest springer I've ever shot. A beautifully refined rifle that feels highly tuned straight out of the box.

    I have had my TX200 .177" in walnut for about 9 months now. It is a heavy gun for a pensioner like me but I only do target shooting and don't have to carry it around all day. For the technicians among us, it is easier to strip & rebuild than the German competition. It has become one of three guns I never plan to sell. (The others being a Weihrauch HW45 bronze star pistol and an Air Arms S400 carbine in .22".) Good review, thanks.

    In my opinion, the tx 200 hc rifle is without doubt, the best production spring rifle ever made, the pro sport is equally as good, but it's not as user friendly (IMO).
    I know the hw 97 and 77 are excellent, but the air arms have more refinement to them, and they are great for hunting just hold the ratchet button in when you cock the rifle you won't get the clicking sound .

    Hi Richard.
    Thankyou for replying to my messages. In my humble opinion, the TX200 is an amazing air rifle. With the Weirhaurchs in mind, the TX for my money, shoulders so much better. The pistol grip area of the stock just falls into your hand. It's just amazing. So glad it's British, and showing what quality we can can produce.

    Nice reviews Richard, I have a TX200 a Prosport a Walther LGU all in 177 and a HW77 with a 97 blue laminate stock in .22, plus a few PCP`s, but I find I get more satisfaction from shooting the springers, more concentration and a lot of fun, helps you forget everything else, just found your channel and subscribed so I shall be going through your other reviews, keep them coming.

      Hi Lynden. Thanks very much. I hope you find our other videos interesting. You certainly have a great selection of springers there (jealous) and I agree with you that they are certainly more rewarding to shoot. PCPs can sometimes seem just a little too easy. I do an awful lot of pest control and for that PCPs are just better in my experience. But when it comes to shooting for fun and for the challenge, give me a springer every time. I've got a mk 1 HW80, my first proper gun, a Webley Vulcan mk 2 and a factory Tyrolean stock HW77 - all from the 70s and all tuned. They are the rifles I enjoy shooting most, along with an HW77K I bought just a few weeks ago. Stay safe and thanks for watching.

    Nice one Richard! Haven't shot a Springer for 25years or more I used to find 22 smoother than 177 and used to think that was because things were happening slower and less erratic in the workings probably not the case nowadays, I would imagine I'd get a big surprise with the guns these days. Keep it up pal

      I fitted mine with a short stroke kit which included various spacers to fine tune the muzzle energy. I found dropping from 11.7 to 10.5 foot-pounds made it nicer to shoot and improved my grouping. As ever, your mileage may vary.

      @@johnnyventurino8947 I considered the Weihrauch. Reviews suggest that there seems little to choose between the HW and the TX in either accuracy or shooting experience. Being a professional engineer, I looked up a few UA-cam videos on stripping both guns. The TX wins on strip-ability. (You can strip the action with a scope in place, a big plus if you choose to do it on the range.) I bought the TX and don't regret it.

    Hi Richard.
    Thankyou for your great, informative, interesting TX200 review.
    I'm tickled pink Air Arms, a British company have shown the way in terms of making fantastic quality air rifles. I think it absolutely great Air Arms have manufactured a spring air rifle that doesn't require tuning.
    I totally do not agree, when you buy something and pay alot of money for it, it should then require tuning and messing with plus spending even money Surely, should the rellevent manufacturers not be doing this?
    Hats off to the Germans, usually their goods are bullet proof, and I can see that if they are selling so many units, they won't halt production just to smear some grease or to polish.
    Just so glad the English are leading the way in airgun manufacture and enjoying life where they should be.
    I'd love to hear what you think Richard.
    Best wishes, Ian.

    • @alphamilitaria2756
      @alphamilitaria2756  2 роки тому

      Thanks very much Ian. Air Arms certainly do produce some great rifles and their springers are about as good as they get. Like anything else though, they are made to a budget and, good as they are, some professional tuning will always make a difference. Walther made the LGV and LGU which were sold as pre-tuned and I understand they featured many of the after market tweaks as standard. They were certainly excellent rifles but sadly no longer made. Thanks for watching.

      Hi Marcus. Thanks very much. In all honesty, I'd find it really hard to choose between them (I suspect that might be the problem you have right now!). Neither one would be a bad or wrong decision as they are both excellent rifles - very accurate, full power and well made. I like the full bore rifle lines of the ProSport but the cocking action on the TX200 is slightly easier, although it does have a bit of a ratchet. That's not really a problem unless you're hunting, and then not a huge one. It really comes down to which one you like the look of most and whether you have the budget to pay more for the ProSport. I'm sorry that's not much help!

      You're right. Unfortunately there are lots of springers around but only a few are any good. I think that part of the problem is that people are used to shooting PCPs and they expect PCP-level accuracy and performance from their springer. Even cheap PCP will outperform most springers.

    After you replied to me recently I bought an FAC TX200 in 0.22 and quite I,pressed with it. I tested it first with H & N Field Trophy but the Hunter Extreme although heavier have a flatter trajectory and despatched cleanly a rabbit at 40yds and another at 60. Even at 60 there was a complete pass through rib cage lungs and heart. I would like to try the 217 21g slugs but not much choice in my rural area hence I ask if you perchance tried any and if so what were the results please? Also which brand of pellet etc is reputed to work best as the long range accuracy of the extreme much better than the Field Trophy which give the impression of being slightly oversize when trying to chamber

      Hi Derek. Great that you are pleased with your rifle and putting it to good use. I'm not sure what ft/lbs your TX200 is but the generally accepted wisdom is that you'll need 40 ft/lbs + to really extract the benefits of slugs. Slugs can also be a little fussy, requiring often small changes to velocity which you're unlikely to be able to achieve on a springer no matter hwo good it is. By all means, try some slugs out - I'd suggest that the lighter the better - but also try some different pellets (brands and weights). Spend some time on the range to see how they group at different distances and go from there. 60 yards is what I'd consider to be extreme hunting range with a 20 something ft/lb rifle. Your range limit should be whatever distance you can put five pellets inside an inch (possibly a little less) from the positions you would normally shoot from when hunting. In other words - its all very well shooting great groups at 60 yards sat down with the rifle rested, but you're unlikely to be doing that when hunting. Once you know the extreme range you and your rifle are competent at you can focus on bushcraft to close in on prey to that distance. Good luck.

      @@samhsn3372 Hi Sam. This is always a tough one. Its like asking someone if they want a Ferrari or Lamborghini. Both rifles are excellent, two of the best springers made. Both are capable of putting pellets on top of each other and are a delight to shoot. It really comes down to which one you want the most - heart over head. The TX200 probably looks better in my opinion thanks to the fishtail chequering, but the HW97K has some adjustability in the butt pad. If you can, put both in your shoulder and see which one feels better for you. With regards to .177 or .22, it really depends what you plan to use the rifle for. 177 is flatter than a .22 which makes hold over and under at different distances easier to figure out. Personally I prefer to hunt with .177 at 12 ft. lbs. Don't believe the nonsense about .22 having more knock down power. It may well do, but it won't compensate a poorly placed pellet. Regardless of the calibre you use, you need to place your shot precisely. We did a video that compared the trajectories of the two calibres which might help. • @alphamilitaria2756
      @alphamilitaria2756  2 роки тому

      Hi Daniel. Do you mean the anti-bear trap? (I'm really not sure why its called that!). Its an internal mechanism in addition to the safety catch designed to prevent the underlever flying up when you've cocked the rifle but haven't returned the underlever. Some break barrels have them as well. Its intended to prevent any nasty accidents resulting from fingers caught in the loading port or between the underlever and bottom of the stock. In terms of firing the rifle you never need to worry about it, just push the safety catch in and off you go. The one drawback with an anti-bear trap is that you cannot de-cock the rifle. So if you have a pellet in the breach, the only way you can get rid off it is to shoot it into the ground or anywhere else that is safe. I hope I understood you correctly and please let me know if not.

      Hi and thanks for watching:
      1. There is no difference in terms of power output from the two rifles as they share the same internals. In the UK, that means 12 ft lbs. FAC rifles go up to 18 ft.lbs.
      2. The Prosport is slightly heavier, but either way you're looking at around 4 kgs, or a tiny but more. Both are very well balanced though and similar weight to the HW77 and HW97, which are to main alternatives. The weight also suppresses recoil.
      3. No real difference on weight for carrying around outside. I've used both for hunting and found them comfortable enough to carry about.
      4. No real difference between the two - they are both extremely capable.
      5. The current model TX200 is the mk 3, available as the HC (Hunter Carbine) and rifle.

    A HW80 would hit the same power and accuracy as the tx200 hc and pro sport while being £500 cheaper. I had a tx200hc and now got a used hw80 for £215 and i see no difference except the tx200hc looks better

      @alphamilitaria2756 you tell me.. is there a difference between a hw80 and a tx200 hc at ranges from 5 to 30 yards 😂
