This was awesome. I used silver ,gold, white pla, just paused at the layers and change filament, so now the bulb is either silver or gold with white in the middle for the litho
I've been working on a similar project on my end, but using a resin printer. And using blender. massive learning experience but crazy cool. Still working on the dimensions, nice to see other new projects on this. Looking for other resin settings though :) thumbs up for your video on the project!!!!
Great video. It has inspired me to make a whole series, with all the grand children ( all 8 😉), but i can not get around the problem, that my slicer keeps on wanting me, to make supports. I am running a Flashforge 5M Pro, and Orca slicer ver 2.2. Is there any way around that - supports inside the sphere is a pain to get out of a 15 mm hole. Ore just ignore the warning from the slicer, and then print without ? Cheers from denmark
That's awesome. Thanks for the instructions! Do you maybe have any affiliate links to suggestions for printers that would work for this project? Thanks!
Great video! I'm just having a small issue and its no fault of your video but my pictures keep ending up upside down from how I want them so if you were to hang it the picture would currently be upside down. Tried their box to flip it but it didn't do anything. 😭
Hello, I must be doing something when i set the "Picture Angular Height (degrees)" to 90, the Picture Angular width sets to 174.98 not 360 as you stated and I cant change it. any help is greatly appreciated thx you!
It's not an option built into the lithophane maker, so unfortunately no. There's also a problem with that in which the shadows of the protrusions would change the image you see on the outside if the light isnt dead center inside the ornament, so it would look different. I imagine that's why it's not an option
loved this. i am still new to 3d printing and this will be my first attempt at doing lithophane printing. would it be possible to get a copy of your cura profile that you used for this?
Yes, though the larger the ornament the longer the print time. I've made one at 70mm (which is a pretty great size) and it took about 9.5 hours to print at 38mm/s print speed
Hey! I was able to get one print off perfect but now everytime I try to use lithophane maker and "create STL" I download a zip file with only a txt file in it. I've tried 3 different browsers and using both PNG and JPEG files for the image. Anyone have any advice?
100% infill Just means the walls of the object, not the whole thing. Normally something like this she would probably do 15% infill to make it faster because you don’t need the strength, in this case you need 100% to show all the details
What is the best orientation for printing these -- standing upright with a brim/raft, or flat (in the case of the square frame)? I'm using Bambu Labs and X1C if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance!
OH MY GOD IM PROBABLY OVER ACTING RIGHT NOW SIR BUT THEN AGAIN THIS IS SOME QUALITY CONTENT HERE. HOW ARE YOU NOT SELLING THISSSS? THANK YOU FOR TEACHING THIS FOR FREE IM GOMMA MAKE. ONE RIGHT NOW FOR MY GRANDMA IM PUTING HER FACE IN THE SPHERE THANK YOU SIR.
Just a bit 😂 the info is already out there, just hard to find unless you know what to look for. Lots of people sell them too, thinking of offering it on my etsy shop as well in limited quantities
@@donnytheasianmillennialdad929 😂😂😂 there might have been other people who made this but i learned this from you and my grandma loved it a lot im making more for our Christmas tree thank you again good sir
Depending on the size of the light, you can either just wiggle it directly in or if the light is a little smaller than the hole, you can probably pad it with some tape. Alternatively you can play with the settings and make the hole with the opening smaller

Thank you so much. You just saved Christmas!
Very cool, anyone have a 3d print model for a part to hold the actual christmas light in the printed ornament? I would love a copy if so. Thanks!
Great tutorial, thanks
This is just incredible, thank you. I am going to make some special gifts this year for the family.
Attempting to print now using a X1C! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for showing how it worked using the tree lights. I was wondering about that. Great video.
Glad it was helpful!
Super helpful and concise video, thank you so much.
Big hit last Christmas. I am already making more for this year. People love them. Thank you for this great video!!
Thank you for this! These are the greatest things ever.
Thanks

Great idea. It was a hit.
for your demo you showed the flip option in lithomaker but did not use it? isn't the result upside down for an ornament?
Yes you're right, I forgot to mention that when I made the video. The setting should be flipped upside down for the ornaments that I demo'd.

Hello, Thank You for your video information. I love the idea, but don't you think the picture should be facing down instead of facing up?
On one of your print it shown up side down. Or was I wrong? smiling.
That's awesome. Thanks for the instructions! Do you maybe have any affiliate links to suggestions for printers that would work for this project? Thanks!
Hi great video, total newbie. How much would we size down to just use with the lights?
how do you know what the settings are supposed to be on lithophane maker?
Awesome work. What printer do you recommend for a beginner?

HOW TO MAKE IT BIGGER BUT KEEP THE TOP THE SIZE FOR THE LIGHT
Thanks for sharing. So unfortunate that those lights only last 3 hours. They seem perfect for these baubles if only they would last longer
free stl lirhos uploaded to my printables for 3d printing peeps.
Come devo fare x ruotare l'immagine al contrario in modo che x l'albero vada bene
Can you print it to the inside!?
In that case it is a regular smooth white ornament till you turn on the light!

If you print a regular flat lithophane and view it from the other side you’ll see that it loses detail.
Hello, can you please tell me the name of the LED in the video? I would like to buy these. Terrific guide
Hey! Yes it's in the description of the video, here's a direct link: amzn.to/3V7beDn

I'd like to make a larger one say to 80mm. Can the size be adjusted?
Yes, though the larger the ornament the longer the print time. I've made one at 70mm (which is a pretty great size) and it took about 9.5 hours to print at 38mm/s print speed
Is this safe to put on string lights?
I don’t see why not
LED ones for sure

I don’t understand if this is 100% infill how do you insert the light? I’ve just started print and it’s fully inclosed and no where to put a light?
100% infill Just means the walls of the object, not the whole thing. Normally something like this she would probably do 15% infill to make it faster because you don’t need the strength, in this case you need 100% to show all the details
I can get it to keep the size the same
How can I change the hole diameter?
Following the tutorial… 😅🤦🏻♂️
@Oscar-gp9le he didn't show it
@@wagnermacedo1608 sorry?
cylinder outer diametre… 😪 5:35. . And there’s a nice sketch on the website showing all the measurements.
Hi. Anyone knows the settings for bambu studio?
Default PLA settings work great in Bambu Studio, and only takes 1 hour on Bambu X1C instead of 6 hours like he mentioned.
@@ChuckCourtney81 I tryed just now and it works great! :D

should have flipped image
I agree, if it's hanging on a tree. In this orientation it would be better as a table ornament.
I made the same mistake! 😅
Please don't give Alexa commands during videos lol.
Also, great tutorial. Much appreciated.

Great video, thanks! I have a question tho, how do you install a non-battery operated light?
