Depending on the Version it really isn't. 4 Zerkers is very bad on Matrix (the IOS remake) where Zerkers will solely attack in order meaning some fights will be almost unwinnable (Sandworm) while others will be incredibly hard (Neo Exdeath due to his enrage Mechanics). On SNES version you can also underflow your Magic Stat using Thornlet so that Gaia Hammer will cast massive quakes. You will need to level them up significantly to make sure their HP is up to the task but they're pretty good at their job. Without Magic Class to back them up however the Rune Axe isn't nearly as good.
@Suprapika I think that, for the full game, 4 berserkers are absolutely the worst, because of very specific fights that become rng. But there are other fights that they sweep through.
@@FFKonoko If you want to see the insanity of four Berserkers in the Pixel Remaster, the channel Backlog Buster has already done that. In fact, he is halfway through his single class challenge runs. I don't think it is going well for his sanity, tough.
I recently played through ff5 because a friend hadnt seen the game. I decided to try new classes i never relly bothered with. Blue mage, dancer, bard, berserker. And i stuck to it. Needless to say, watching a useless character feed potions to a berserker for 30 minutes, while 2 people are dead, against exdeath... is the most Deja Vu ive ever experienced.
The thing about Thief is that having ONE is great, but multiple is stupid. There are a number of "unique" items throughout the game that if you drop them all on a Thief, it will possibly be your best character both in and out of combat. For starters, Thieves have itty bitty STR, but high AGI. As opposed to (for example) swords, which use ((lvl*STR)/128)+2 as their modifer, knives use ((lvl*STR)/128 + (lvl*AGI)/128)+2 . This means they can draw similar damage out of knives that a high STR low AGI class like Knight does. Combine that with the unique knives (Guardian/Dancing/Chicken) which have pretty high damage for when you get them, and they'll put out really high damage. On the note of AGI, the Thief glove not only ups your steal rate, but gives +AGI. They also equip medium armor of which a number of have STR/AGI bonuses. On a regular run, I'll make Faris a Monk (to lvl1) > Thief > Ninja > Dancer. Monk there for !Buildup to bump up damage and ignore random run from Chicken Knife later on. !Dance eventually replaces it for the same reason. With those 3 jobs maxed, Freelancer with Chicken&Guardian Knives, !Dance and !Steal/!Mug makes for a frontline beast. One piece of dancer gear and you've got Sword Dance for days.
Dagger agility damage is bugged with the exception of the chicken knife. Maybe it's fixed in the Pixel remaster version (don't know, I don't play that version though I haven't seen anything that says otherwise), but that's not the version he's playing. edit - oh, and without time mage, stealing in this game is about as much fun as punching yourself in the nuts 10 or so times (compared to with time mage where it's more like punching yourself once or twice). There's a few exceptions (such as the genji gear) but stealing in this game is unbelievably annoying with it's stupid common/rare system. Thankfully the version I play allows me with proper agility levels to set up an automatic steal-return loop. Though I still have to pay attention so the loop doesn't finish when I finally get the right item.
Great write up! The existence of the early Gaia Hammer definitely proves your point about the unique weapon drops. The high agility does help their damage output, I just think they have a survivability problem similar to the Dancer that is the main thing holding it back. But also yes, Knife damage is bugged, that's why Chicken Knife does such insane damage, because it's the only one to use Agility correctly.
Late game agility mastery lol just throw all that money at those king behemoths who can't Counter gil toss with that cheese meteor, and with boost you'll run circles around super bosses (and first turn mix is scary though I wish PR had a recipe list to not always need a guide) 😂 let alone Hastega and quick with time mage. 3:00 lol never make galuf a red or white mage for his last stand as it takes forever. Though yeah dualcast makes the mime actually have some use for versatility as it sucks otherwise due to limited equipment compared to Freelancer.
@@Domebuddy exactly, the main attarction of these videos is not the goal, but the journey: we know it's possible, we want to understand HOW (and HOW HARD it is)
My most recent run was Blue/Berserker/Chemist/Geo, so while I had the safety net of just being able to break the game if I wanted to, I saw the light of the Rune Axe Geomancer. I love that even terrible jobs in this game can have synergies like that, especially when they're hella metal lol. Nice vid!
Damn, two of the worst jobs, and two of the best, what a combo. But yeah, job combinations is definitely where this game shines, and that's definitely by design. Even the worst job can be carried up by an even remotely decent one.
"I want to make this as difficult as possible" No you don't... Otherwise you'd be playing the PS1 version with minute long loading times between every single battle.
@@vxicepickxv Oh it's possible alright... As the only way to play back then I did it, and it was as painful as it sounds. The real challenge came from not falling asleep during loading, so a party of four berserkers was actually beneficial in the event you did fall asleep.
@@vxicepickxv what you said makes no sense whatsoever. Possible is the word that definitively states he wants to do the hardest version... I have no idea what you're trying to say. The word possible there holds him to that standard; it doesn't give the option to cop out; there's nothing impossible about playing the PS1 version...
This wouldn't be more difficulty it would be more time consuming. If someone walk to a apple and reach it in 1 minute. Then someone else do the same for another apple and reach it in 5 minutes. Would you say the second person had a more difficulty time walking? of course not, they just took longer to reach there.
Thanks for playing Final Fantasy V stuff! I've been genuinely shocked that the Berserker is as good as it is but maybe it's just me watching this and the other job fiesta.
Berserker is fairly tanky and able to cause damage, both of which are pretty good things to be in FF5 lol My 2 fiestas this year had thief and dancer and I'd definitely take berserker over those any day in the future lol
Berserker jumps in Viability depending on the rest of the classes really. If you have at least one of the classes that can pass their High Magic Stat (Time, Black, Summoner) the Rune Axe suddenly becomes a great weapon option (as its damage formula uses both Magic and Strength) if inaccurate.
One possible improvement could be to steal a Lamia's Tiara from a Lamia in the Ronka Ruins in order to eliminate Tempting Tangos entirely, instead of having to wait for world 3. It does require you to miss out on using the Ribbon since it takes up that slot, but that's probably worth it. the reasons you might end up not doing it is that if it was a real FJF you wouldn't know you had dancer as your next job, and it's a rare steal, so getting it can be a real pain Another possible improvement is that you could enter the world 2 exdeath fight with float activated if you charm a Poison Eagle all the way back in Drakenvale to have it cast float on you and then go straight to Exdeath without saving. This way of getting float is also a way to cheese Catastrophe later on, since giving a reflect ring to a floating character makes it never do attacks Equip Ribbons might be worth considering for the Berserker in the Void, not just for the Ribbon but for equiping the Man-Eater. It doesn't do quite as much damage as the strongest axes but it's much more consistent since it doesn't have that miss chance that axes and hammers do
Yeah, I mentioned this to someone else, but I think getting the tiara early would have been better overall. I just wish there was more Dancer equips throughout the game; why is there 2 headgear at the start, and then nothing until the VERY end? Wack.
@@Calintares To be fair nothing in Fiesta Rules prevents you from previewing your classes beforehand. And in some runs like Volcano you can roll Dancer Earlier.
As someone who’s never played this game all the stuff in this comment sounds so made-up, like when characters talk about a fake game in a movie. I love it
The dancer is so frustrating to watch (and play of course). One useful ability that is randomly available on a die roll. Plus a lousy HP pool for a front line class. XD
"Frustrating" is probably the best one-word description. And you guys didn't get to see all the failures that happened because there were even less Sword Dances!
First time I played, I beat Neo Exdeath with four dancers who all had the dancer gear that makes them do sword dance more often. It probably wasn't the best strat but it worked.
I've been thinking of doing a four job Fiesta but I'm scared of getting "bad" classes. Seeing you do a setup which is basically the worst ones that could be rolled helps my confidence
I definitely recommend trying one! It's pretty hard to get an outright bad combination of jobs, even if you get a couple of stinkers. I think one of the big sticking points for some people is not getting a White Mage for healing, but the Healing Staff is really good as a substitute, plus items are pretty easy to farm for. There's a website that can do FJF runs outside June to August, so I'd try that out if you're curious! Although I don't remember what it is, so sorry about that.
@@Suprapika Yeah ultimately the odds of truly unwinnable scenario are very low. Four Job Fiesta by default will give you one job from the respective crystal pool unless you take a more nuanced run. And to be fair outside of Monk and Thief every class can be outright broken till the end game (although opening with WHM can be rough due to absolute lack of damage). I have a run when my party is basically Geomancer, Dragoon and Two Mystic Knights (unlocked in that order) with one of them replaced by Ninja once I get Krile. And outside some cash Grinding for Angel Rings I needed for the fight against Soul Cannon (in PR the turrets are in Back Row and the Cannon itself is immune to wind which makes Gaia useless) it's rather smooth sailing.
They made the cannons be back row in PR? What the hell, that boss is already super annoying. I guess now throwing Lightning Scrolls is a better strategy than ever.
For some comps yes, others not so much. They're still susceptible to level 5 death, and thanks to rod breaking getting buffed to hell and back a single thunder rod will one shot them and do tons of damage to the main cannon.
@@Suprapika Yeah it's mostly annoying if you can't break rods and as the person before mentioned the Rods breaking has been buffed as the Broken rod deals Single Target values even when hitting multiple enemies. Then again outside of Fiesta Rules it's not like you lack options between Rods, Just Black Mage, Ninja Scrolls or Ramuh
This video got me thinking and without job repeats, and without using additional fiesta rules (like natural) I have a hard time deciding what would actually be the worst party My gut instinct wants to say something like Thief, White Mage, Bard, Geomancer, as the team would have fairly bad damage from all four members basically forever, a truly horrific early game, and it cant really take advantage of each others job skills in any really meaningful way At the very end game bard enables enough buff stacking that the Thief+Geomancer can probably knife fight their way to victory with the white mages help without TOO much trouble but actually getting there would be pretty awful, but white mage probably enables it no matter how bad the damage is. Replacing white mage is hard though, as if you want to put bard on the list you basically can't add any good or even middling melee to the team like Dragoon or Berserker or else it has somebody to pump up and it becomes really strong pretty easily Everybody who can equip a rod is straight out for obvious reasons too so no red mage, Black Mage, Summoner, Time Mage, Knight, Monk, Samurai etc all have obviously no place near a "worst" team Dancer is pretty damn bad and obnoxious to try to actually use but with support it can easily carry a run (as seen in this video really) even if it's a pain to use lol I dunno it's an interesting question lol the team i'd least like to run in all of FF5 is without a doubt 4x Thief it sounds truly awful as a squad and gets my personal vote for single worst job even in a normal party (even worse than berserker and I say that as someone who has ran 4x berserker before lol they really arent that bad and can slot into a lot of normal teams pretty well and hold their own weight, death sickles alone are extremely cool and useful basically the entire game)
I agree that it's an interesting question; despite the name of this video, I honestly think it's a good thing that there's no definitive "worst job combination" that everyone can agree on.
@@Suprapika Yeah for sure I think it speaks to the relative balance of the game Considering how many jobs there are they did a great job (👀) with the balance, the encounters/gear availability/items in 5 all walk a weird narrow line that keeps most things relevant in some capacity in most situations avoiding the like "This is the magic boss you have to magic to death" kind of solution-based encounters they easily could've designed instead, that'd make replaying it way less interesting
Definitely. I talked about this recently with one of my co-commentators, but FFV is extremely well balanced for how many moving parts there are, AND considering how old it is.
one strat if you have thief+dancer is to steal a lamia tiara in ronka runis and use it over ribbon for the dance boost over the ribbon. and once one character masters dancer they can use the ribbon so it's not wasted
Veg, we already talked about this. Having low chances of success for a major benefit is worth the trouble. It may be hard but is not impossible, and once you get that (in this case any Lamia Tiara's you need) is smooth sailing. There are tons of equipment pieces that are rare steals because they can break the games difficulty the moment you get them. It would be very boring to have 100% Accuracy on Steals. So please understand. And please stop adding random caps on your rants, it's even more infuriating than seeing you speak negative thoughts about anything related to FF games.
FFIV is quite generous with Elixirs (and Megalixirs in Advance and Complete Collection) once you've reached the Lunar Subterrane. They're both purchasable in the lategame towns, and while they're expensive, enemies at this point give a ton of Gil that you don't really have anything else to spend on (except for maybe Fuma Shurikens).
Berserker really gets too bad a rap in this game. Thing with it is its a situational monster that can eclipse your other non-mages in damage for an overwhelming majority of the game (and early-on, will likely outdamage even them) while still hitting often enough that if not for the occasional miss, they'd be outright broken in the early-to-mid game. (In my last run, Berserkers remained useful right up until midway through the third part of the game where you really start getting the crazy combos). However because they can't be controlled, you don't want to bring them to bosses who counter and you DEFINITELY don't want more than one in a team. But for the bosses who can't counter-attack you like that? They will be shredded in record time. The class is pretty straightforward and does only one thing but it does it real well. You just have to mind its limitations and they can carry you quite far.
@@ysmahelyfilho9998 Well, judging by the fact that Galuf dueled Exdeath on sheer adrenaline (seriously?! 10000's worth of damage?) I think she might go the same route if need be... Still, Flare *is* one of the most powerful spells and I don't think I noticed the sprite error you mentioned. Tellah: "You spoony bard! Take this!" *Obliterates Edward with Meteor* Me: *doesn't even want to know*
Omg, this is such a good video, is so interesting to get a really deep look into the battle system Ff5 is one of the most underrated games of the franchise imo
Seeing this video was deeply funny to me, I've only played FFV once like 6 years ago and it was as a mostly blind fiesta run, and it was nearly identical to these 4 jobs. The only change was since I did allow getting jobs from any crystal, my team ended up being Dancer / Geomancer / Berserker / Dragoon, and it was genuinely one of the most miserable experiences I've had with a game. The final ExDeath fight took me over a week, and I was one failed sandworm fight away from just cheating. Very fun to see that I was just genuinely almost as unlucky as possible without repeat jobs, I've been meaning to give V another try since I love Bravely Default so I should love this game, but man that run has deeply poisoned me on this game.
That's actually been a running theme with my runs ever since I started playing this game. The first time I beat this game, I remember Faris was dead at the end of almost every boss. I think the game has it out for her.
Very neat run; always nice to see Geomancer get time in the sun, even if this wasnt a flattering light. As neat as Dancer is, it felt like a bit of Sunk Cost prioritizing Sword Dance rolls, especially during Neo considering Wind Slash in the guaranteed Gaia spell and hits all parts rather than doing basically nothing to Neo for a good chunk of the fight. Its a shame the Geomancer's !Gaia doesnt bestow its magic stat and that it only has 3 levels; it couldve been a 5-level job with Equip Bells at lvl4 and something akin to Control at lvl5 but for their Gaia spells maybe called Commune, where you can see the Gaia pool and manually pick the spell you use. Maybe a bit strong, but hey its in the game with powerful skills like Dualcast and Rapid Fire and its the master-level skill for it; let the whimsical bois have that. Also a shame there arent at least 2 more Bell weapons in the game, but that can also be said for Whips and Harps. Also always very satisfying seeing Bahamut get dunked on with free Meteors
Yeah Gaia definitely could have been expanded a bit more, maybe they did want to do more but didn't have the dev time. FFV doesn't strike me as a "we ran out of time" game, but almost no game is ever 100% finished.
also i think rune chime is the best caster item it boosts fire, ice ,lightning, poison, wind, earth, and holy damage and has rune weapon mp crits if you attack.
I recently started a similar run, but with bard and beastmaster instead of thief and dancer (I'm playing PR, so dancer is actually a really good class). However, I eventually abandoned that idea because it was boring and it turned into what I call a, "Showtime Rotisserie" run. I abandoned my class restrictions and made "set it and forget it" my only goal. At the beginning of every battle, I chose one action, and then turned on auto-battle. Basically, everyone became a different version of a berserker. I came to appreciate skills like Gaia, and Call, and Animals. It was pretty fun. If anyone has the PR version, I recommend giving it a try. Alternatively, you can set your actions at the beginning of a dungeon and autobattle the whole way through, boss included. That would be a whole new twist.
@@Calintares 1 full back row damage. 2 Lamia's Tiara (steal in Ronka Ruins) gives higher Sword Dance %. This makes them a great low cost DPS unit and !Dance an ultimate mid and end game skill. !Dance will hit the damage cap before anything else (Galuf's world) and will produce reliable 20k damage at the end with Dual Wield.
Nice work man! It must have been very frustrating 😂 I know Dancer is terrible but at least sword dance + chicken knife is good. Imo Dragoon is more useless than the other Earth crystal jobs.
One year I had a Fiesta run where I was stuck with Quad Thief until Crescent Island, I had to grind to I think level 28 just to beat Byblos. That was the worst it's ever been for me. The worst possible Fiesta team (beyond quadzerker) is hard to really answer because Thief and Dancer seem like shoe-ins but they both scale relatively well into late-game. So a job that falls off as badly as Monk is debatably "worse", but I've always felt as though World 1 is the hardest part of the run because of back-to-back-to-back big problem fights.
General consensus seems to be 4 Bards, which I could definitely see. I know there's a guy who does quad job runs, but I haven't watched any of them (I know the Bard video was uploaded recently, which is why I assume so many people are saying it).
Sad you missed the rare steal lamia tiara in the Lonka Ruins, that's one great synergy when you use thief and dancer together. 50% sword dance chance before W1 is over?! Yes please. Edit: apparently you know about this and thought ribbon was better. NOPE. I've used the early tiara multiple times, it rules. Chicken Knife is available before the pyramid and Melusine, even with her high def it does some nice work when you sword dance. Better than your air knife which she's immune to. Although it's sometimes AoE, Gaia does not trigger a counter against Wendigo. Secret RNGeomancer tech tip for you there. You also didn't mention it, but Geo has some great grind spots where your entire team spamming Gaia can get you levels pretty nicely. One of them is against Iron Giants near the end for that HP to survive Almagest. Incredibly sad Fork Tower, you needed to take Dancer to the left side and have Geomancer bounce mage masher silence off itself and do those super powerful max chicken knife sword dances right after silence hits. Not fun, but a few sword dances is all it takes. Props for doing some optional bosses though, I didn't expect that.
great vid, good balance of commentary/no commentary, very knowledgeable of the game and its mechanics. I liked this vid a lot. Would love to see more FF content
Thanks! There's a lot of FFV content planned for the future, although most of my content is gonna be game playthroughs. The FFV stuff is like, once every 1-2 months or so, since they take a lot more effort.
You do mention that you can get Lamia's Tiara pretty early, and that would make the Dancer more reliable through the rest of world 1 and through world 2. Immunity from status is really powerful from the ribbon, but I honestly think the "more reliable" damage the tiara gives you would be better against the majority of bosses. The real issue with getting the tiara is that it's a rare steal from the Lamia's in the Ronka Ruins, who also have a common steal, which is not particularly fun to try and grind out.
1 berserker is fine. It will bonk things for adequate damage, especially once you get your doom sticks. It's only punishing if you get multiple berserkers. Berserker also carries passive skills pretty well, even the magic boosting ones since you can use Gaia Hammer in the late game and just fish for 25% quakes. Thief is also pretty fine. Hi-Potions in W1, Mug+Chicken Knife and stealing elixirs for the end game, you can steal a Twin Lance from the Object d'Arts to make your thief's damage relevant in W2 and various steals across the game depending on what jobs you have plus passing agility to jobs that don't care about their 2nd skill slot much is nice. The actual worst wind crystal job is monk. Thief has that painful opener but has general utility once you get past Byblos. Monk... monk falls off a cliff and never recovers and isn't exactly outstanding in the early game either. High HP isn't always the boon you'd think it is thanks to % damage attacks where more HP actually just means more healing on your part. Unarmed attacks have the flaw of giving TWO counter attacks. Dancer is the only job that really appreciates having a monk because dancer doesn't care about it's sub skill and likes HP+30% if only to reduce grinding to survive almagest. Like thief, monk quickly becomes a glorified potion chucker but without early hi-potions, easy elixir farm, the option of being your chicken knife user if you don't get another one, or the steal utility. Geomancer is weird... It is fighting for the worst job in the game but it does stuff in certain fights where you really want jobs that to do stuff, specifically Byblos and it's not the worst against NED.
I recently learned that the Bell you get in world 1 doesn't trigger the return counter in the Omniscient fight. The damage is terrible but it is still faster than waiting out his MP.
(Me casually seeing a ffv vid) Oh neat a fun topic for 11 mins okay i guess that’s it…wait why does he keep going…oh my gaud…he’s gonna try and make a bad playthrough 😭. This man is putting in the work
As someone that hasn't seen said video but has done both runs this just sounds like ignorance/innexperience tbh? W1 is a Pita with Bard, requiring angel rings, but afterwards is stupid easy. Zerk is a slog the whole way through. Unless it's because of Pixel Bugmaster, and whatever inane changes the devs made.
I think what many people gloss over with Quadserker is that you can't heal at all, which is just SO bad when fights take longer due to the randomness. A single Berserker feels like an actual asset with the right sub jobs (I loved Doublehandserker as a kid because it's easy to get and quite powerful) because with a bit of support, the misses (and hitting the backrow) don't matter as much. But I'll be honest, I'm not sure what would replace Berserker as one of the 4 worst jobs.
That's basically where I'm at, too; without Protect Rings, any damage you take is permanent. But even beyond healing, you can't even use the Magic Lamp, which is one of the best items in the game. As others have mentioned, 4 Bards probably is a contender for worst because it's so weak and frail, but it's at least more controllable, the support songs are great, and Hide can cheese some fights.
@@Suprapika To be fair 4 Bards can Lock your enemy up (2 bards using Romeo's Ballad is one of the easiest method to deal with Omega as all it requires is a bit of timing practice) and Buff the stats into high heaven as long as one of them's not singing.
@@lordofhyphens Most setups need to grind for Reflect Ring to be honest. If you lack White Mage or Blue Mage your healing options are both underwhelming and limited. So being able to Nullify half the damage sources coming your way is a great boon.
Yeah will agree this. Dancer is pretty much worst job entire game. Okay ability suit ribbons is good certain places. But Dance ability is random and only this sword dance is useful, but heck this succesrate is like less than 50% make Dancer really worst job overall.
Dragoon < Dancer. I see the argument Dragoons can wear better equipment and jump out of combat but Dancer is more fun in 4 job fiesta. Im always disappointed with what the Dragoon can do. Geomancer having Lamia's tiara helps them synergize with Dancer ok. (Dispite bringing basically nothing to the table for other jobs). Monk makes a solid run for worst Wind crystal job despite being amazing right away. But its the least helpful time to be amazing. After the water crystal they do not keep up without grinding. Excellent video btw, thank you!
I guess Dragoon being unpopular isn't as much of a controversial statement as I expected. Also I've never gotten a Monk in a FJF, so I've never actually personally experienced how much they fall off. I'd believe it, though. Like I said to the other guy, I definitely recommend other people trying it out!
Monk has bare-handed, one of the strongest abilities in the game IMO. Max Str bonus, effectively dual-wield, and scaling damage Yes, thief has artful dodger, but I think I would still prefer bare-handed. But who knows. Maybe that's because of my habit of overleveling
Barehanded is busted as all hell. That alone makes monk the best of the wind crystal jobs if you're allowed to cross class skills. Ok, maybe besides blue mage. MAYBE.
Honestly, Wind Crystal is probably the most stacked crystal overall; almost all the jobs are great in some way, and mostly in very direct, obvious ways.
@@nolanstrife7350 The Barehanded damage formula effectively uses your level as weapon power. This works quite well in World 1 and maybe half of World 2 where weapons are weak and you are rapidly gaining levels but the EXP curve ends up slowing down considerably around the same time that every other job is picking up major and final upgrades. The Kaiser Knuckles "fix" this by effectively being a weapon that brings Monk up to par but the mutual exclusivity with all of the extremely powerful accessories in FFV gives a significant opportunity cost that just pushes Monk further behind. Yeah, you can transfer a big chunk of Strength to another class but I don't think that's enough to outweigh the shortcomings of the Barehanded playstyle itself.
Thief, the mediocre job on a crystal where all the other jobs range from pretty solid to gamebreaking, and the other 3 jobs that are actually really bad. I feel like if you were allowed to double dip and swap thief for another job from a different crystal, you could definitely have a worse party (without multiple of the same job)
@Suprapika now that I think of it, I can't really think of a job thats worse than thief, but better than the other ones. Thief is sort of the line between the "situationally useful" and "Trash" tier jobs. Stealing is nice, but thief's stats and abilities aside from that are mediocre. similar to red mage, its a job that shines with mastering it, and putting its abilities to use with other jobs and freelancer. Whether dualcasting tier2 spells would be better or worse than using a thief lategame is kind of hard to say.
I think someone like AustinSV is much more qualified than me to make port comparison videos, but I can give my opinions here: SNES - Most convenient because of the Project Demi mod, with cutscene skipping and a reward multiplier. Also has some cool bugs, like the X-Magic and Mix glitch, or the Berserker magic underflow glitch. GBA - Most content. Probably my preferred version too, plus it's also got a lot of mods from improved music to new classes. PS1 - Worst translation. The load times make this not really worth playing, but it's worth watching someone else do it, maybe. PR - It's hard for me to qualify this one, because while it has a ton of quality of life stuff that's nice for the gameplay (changing jobs and abilities is less tedious, the EXP/Gil/ABP multipliers), some things are bugged in a bad way (the Healing Staff does not work correctly with cursor memory), and the presentation is pretty bad with the text boxes instantly appearing, and NPC movement just looking wrong. Plus it's the slowest version since it can't be emulated, and the recent update broke all the mods (like the skip cutscenes mod), so replays are much more tedious than the other versions. Not a bad version at all, and it'll probably be most people's favorite, but I tend much more to the SNES and GBA versions.
It's fun that even the worst party has immunity to damage tiles and back attacks going for it. Berserker ATB is definitely wonky. I think the "gets up swinging" is an intended mechanic and operates outside the atb? But at least in the SNES version their speed is *unreasonably* awful, as if they're decoupled from the rest of the game. I do love getting a Beastmaster or Ranger paired with a Berserker. Transferring their speed stat and a back-row weapon to a Berserker and/or slapping Berserk on them is just real convenient for random encounters.
I'll give this to PR, at least that version let's you actually see the Berserkers AT gauge. I don't really get why it is how it is in the other versions.
So glad pixel remasters made berserkers better - mine hit consistentely, deal great damage (with doublehand, admittedely), my faris was a legitemate boss buster.
Not far enough for that on my run, but Beserker + Berserk spell (innate Berserk doesn't seem to conflict with Berserk status) + Haste + Barehanded is brutal.
Monk might be worse than thief, just based on how bonkers !steal can be. You can pretty easily leave Karnak with 80+ elixirs by using !steal then !flee on chest battles. They're a common steal, so something it's something like an 80% success rate per battle, each of with only ticks fewer than 10 seconds off the clock. (Something like a black mage willing to snap rods can leave with 99 of them.) A lot of rare steals are excellent for how early you get them as well. Lamia's Tiara is just a good hat, either for Swords Dance chance on the Dancer or it's generally good stats on the Geomancer. The Gaia Hammer being either a 10/256 chance steal from Titan OR the last dungeon required before entering The Void is a bit nutty. Twin Lance is just an excellent weapon. You also have easy access to insane money using the same !Steal + !Flee on chests in Barrier Tower. The most important aspect could be Vigilance + !Flee, meaning random encounters are no longer a problem for the Thief. You aren't constantly bleeding potions every encounter because your bad party gets hit by *every* *single* *enemy* in *every* *encounter*. Monks aren't really a bad class overall, and have quite decent damage output when combined with berserk. Their high HP is also quite good outside of enemies like the Sol Cannon start dealing gravity damage and your only healing options are potions or the rare elixirs. It really is a close race to the bottom tier.
This is why I think Thief is a hard job to really classify, because what it does do is extremely good, but I would hate to be forced to use it for boss fights. All this is definitely true, though.
No, it's terrible. Never being able to input commands is not worth whatever power it might have. Try out a solo berserker run, 4 berserkers are roughly 10% likely to beat neo exdeath at lvl 99. You literally can't grind to win it's that bad
@@cowgaming7186 that's what I did in my last playthrough to grind berserker up. French stone statues in Galuf's Castle I had equip bows on and gave them the hayate bow. Worked out alright but since I've seen what berserker is truly capable of I put that strength down to ranger not berserker
@@cowgaming7186I've come to realize Beserker is best paired with Haste, a spell I had never really used pre FFVA since I played FFVIA with that god-tier fast ninja slinging Viper Darts like spare change and Gauntlet-wearing yeti mowing down enemies like grass beforehand... And yes, I mean Shadow and Umaro.
It's one of my favourites because it completely changes how you play the game. Most of the strategy is before the actual fight. Which weapon, what level etc.
Unlikely, because me and RJ made our video on the jobs of this game and we gave our tier lists at the very end. My opinions on some jobs have slightly changed since then, but not enough to make a whole new video about it
Definitely possible! However, Dragoon CAN equip good armor, and have a pretty good Strength and Stamina, and they can do damage all the time instead of most of the time. Plus, Jump can let you avoid some attacks altogether. And on the support side, giving the Berserker Equip Spears would be an incredible buff to them. But, I would suggest to anyone to try out other possible "worst job combination" for themselves, it's possible that an even worse combo exists.
@@Suprapika If I was thinking up a worst party to go through the game, using one job from each crystal, I'd probably say Monk, Red Mage, Geomancer, and Dragoon. Monk, Red Mage and Geomancer fall off real hard late game, and none of these classes have any synergy with one another.
Under Fiesta environment, Monk and Red Mage are still great classes. Monk can still act as a meatshield and "Elixir thrower". Red Mage has Dualcast which can be given to the likes of Geomancer, and rod breaking is still a powerful means of dealing damage, especially on Pixel Remaster version. Dragoon can only do one job, Jumping, but you don't really need them for anything else really.
@@burtblando8806 That is very close to the party I used for a "worst party" run, although I used a Dancer instead of a Dragoon. The Dancer turned out to be quite good with endgame equipment, such as the Chicken Knife and Rainbow Dress, but wasn't too helpful in the first two worlds.
@@Suprapika Giving Berserker Equip Spears does nothing at all for them, the ability gives a strength transfer but it's lower than Berserker strength and there is no agility transfer. Spears in FFV are also few and largely trash. Dragoon is worse than Dancer from the Earth crystal, at least when you have thief in the party as well. The rare steal Javelin is pretty good for how early it is, but then it's basically the same as the Partisan you get at the end of W2 so the spears flatline for an entire world. Not to mention how many holy-absorb bosses appear as soon as you get the holy spear (Gargoyles, Minotauros, Odin, Melusine is immune).
World 1 Review (Worst Party) - Thief works well as a discount White mage stealing Hi Potions. Berserker and Geomancer solid but inconsistent damage. Dancer is lucky to have the thief steal Lamia's Tiara in Ronka Ruins. So far the synergies aren't too terrible for these being bad classes. On to World 2!
One of my favorite story telling was someone played their challenge of a 4 job fiesta. Out of all the jobs, beast master isn't a terrible job, after being told if you have 3 people have that job you can makes some of the super bosses, mainly Omega Weapon, do almost nothing.
I'd rather do 4 thief early than 4 white early. White's late game advantage is irrelevant as every job pops off by endgame. Don't know why Blue mage is even a discussion, it has 0 problem fights throughout the entire game.
I was watching the melusine fight wondering why it’s going so long and why they aren’t doing dmg and then i remembered that’s the point of the challange lol
4 Bards would definitely have it bad. At least they can buff themselves, and can "easily" stall out all bosses MP pools with Hide. Also, weak as they are, they can choose their target, so Sandworn, Sol Cannon, Necrophobe etc are only incredibly slow and tedious Instead of almost impossible. But yeah, still bad. I wouldn't want to try it, either way.
There's a channel doing single-job challenges for all jobs in FFV, and they recently released the 4 Bard run; they tried to stall Atomos out of MP using Hide, and predictably it would cast with "No effect". Supposedly left it running for hours to wait for the MP to drain, but when they came back, it still cast just fine, presumably because enemy spells cast with "No effect" don't cost MP. ETA: That channel seems to be playing on a Switch port, which may be different than GBA with how it handles enemy MP on spells vs a Hiding party. Might still be worth a shot!
I would consider doing a "quad Bard VS quad Berserker" video if there wasn't already a guy doing them individually. I'm glad there's somebody out there willing to do runs like those.
The only time I've ever used a Beast.Master was to get conago jar/kornagos gourd just to get it. FF5 is the only job based ff where i don't fuck with blue mage
The first time I played this game was on the P.S one and I realized I was kind of unproperly playing it. Not maximizing AP distribution. I just recently played it again ((gba version) it was a way more dynamic playthrough. I'm playing through it again. The super famicom version amd i'm just trying everything shy of actually building a blue mage. It took me over twenty years to realize the brilliance of this game
See, its weird. Im so used to solo runs through this that i kinda reflexively balked at including Dancer, since my brain went to Bard, or maybe White Mage... and when that came up, i realized where i was going wrong, lol. Now Berserkers. One in a party of four is actually not the worst, but a solo Berserker IS absolutely the worst. I imagine four is better but still pretty horrific.
That's kinda what I think too, like seeing Dancer or Geomancer on the list my first instinct would be "wait, that doesn't seem right" before thinking about it.
Don't give the Gaia hammer to the Berzerker, give it to the geomancer with Equip Axes and Gaia Gear :) (better than Gaia Bell, and available in world 2). World 3/Rift weapon of choice for Geomancer is the Rune Bell (rare drop in rift ruins from Baldanders, boost every elements for Gaia and rune crits on attack) Lamia Tiaras are VERY good. Especially for dancers. The magic defense/eva lets you avoid many status too. Not grabbing them in Ronka probably slowed your world 2 a lot (even equip ribbon+dancing dagger is optimal on Berzerker for some fights) Since 3 characters have cloth armor (usually good magic def/eva) entangle from Levi probably just missed. The Berzerker has stop imunity from his status, but I don't know for paralysis. Gaia is decent in Neo-exdeath so the final boss isn't that hard with this team. If you don't have anything to give to some casters (like Gaia/animal/Control) White mage can be VERY painful. In chaos fiestas, White/BZK/Red/Thief (in that order) is awful.
Gaia Hammer on the Geomancer makes sense, probably should have thought of that. I did know that Berserker has some status immunities, but I didn't know Stop was one of them, that's interesting. Also the difficulty for Neo Exdeath is complicated, the overall low Stamina made Almagest a huge pain if I couldn't take it out soon. But I was surprised that Geomancer always got the same spell for that, that was a very nice surprise.
Ah the final fantasy game I’ve wanted to get into but always put down before I got very far. Kinda thinking a team of Blue Mage, Beastmaster, Dragoon(I think that’s in this game), but that 4th slot I’m unsure on. Maybe Time Mage for Haste/Slow? Plus would be one job from each Crystal for funsies.
Time Mage is the best class in the game, so yeah I'd say that's a good choice. Dragoon is a little lame, I'd suggest Samurai for your fourth crystal, or Chemist if you don't mind looking at the wiki every time you need to use Mix. If you don't stick to the "one job per crystal" thing, Mystic Knight or Summoner replacing Beastmaster or Dragoon would also work well. There's a lot of good jobs in this game.
Idk if you knew this or not, but the lamia's tiara has the chance of increasing swords dance when worn. I'm currently replaying ff5 pixel remaster on switch. It's a pain stealing from lamia's (in the ronka ruins), but worth it if you like the dancer or dancing dagger.
Yeah, a few people mentioned that to me, and if I were to redo this run, that'd be something I do until I get another Dancer equip. The Ribbon is great, but the stats are less important than the (potential) damage increase.
i am kinda upset that geomancer is considered as one of the worst jobs here, since i think it is actually very powerful and lowkey broken early Edit: Okay, i was getting my torches ready too early. You legit said it's a bit controversal 😂
Berserkers are bad? Try putting berserk on a monk. You got a pissed off monk that punches really hard, hits twice per attack, and has a very high crit chance. Beserkers are not bad, far from it. I'd argue that there is no bad classes in this game. There's just better choices.
That's a good question, actually. If I had to absolutely pick one, and I only say that because all four of them are a hell of a lot better than these four jobs, I guess I might go with Oracle? It just feels like the least spectacular of the four. Gladiator can equip every melee weapon and can just shit out 9999 damage if you get lucky, the cannoneer has insta-killing stuff and can even avoid fighting multi-phase bosses because some of the combines ignore enemy counters (including transitions to other boss phases), and the Necromancer's magic is super strong (but it's pretty bad up until you can actually get even 1 spell, which takes a bit). I've been wondering if modding the GBA version to start with those four classes, and doing a run with them, would be worth doing. I think most of the game, up til world 3, would just be fishing for the 9999 damage Gladiator attack, but maybe it's not as good as I think.
@@SuprapikaI'd definitely be interested in seeing a run with the GBA jobs. Necromancer would be particularly interesting to see in use since it'd have some actual progression to it. The dark art spells are all quite powerful, but by the time you've unlocked Necromancer you've completed ~90% of the game, if you unlocked it earlier then you'd be spoonfed the spells as enemies which drop them become available. Also finisher's failure rate and elemental affinity will knock down its efficiency in practice. Even maxed out the failure rate is still there, and if you "lock in" a specific character to Gladiator then your finishers will be worse than useless against enemies with the matching element.
As an update to this question: It's definitely Oracle. Gladiator has that big damage, Cannoneer has combine for full party debuffs (and Open Fire sometimes instakills stuff), and Necromancers spells are really cool and useful (any job that had access to Old is a good job as far as I'm concerned). Oracles 2 unique actives are kinda shit. Condemn doesn't work against Heavy (and when it does work, there's no reason not to use Doom because it ignores instant death immunity and doesn't revive the undead), and Predict is 1. Extremely annoying to set up when you know how it works, and 2. The effects aren't even that good. ABP Up and Read Ahead are great, as is the new highest magic stat, but the class itself kinda blows.
Curious if You've tried out the pixel free master patch for the snes version I dunno how much overlap it has with project demi but it's got some nice QoL Like blue mage doesn't need to get hit with the spell, it just has to be cast on the party at all
I checked the changelist, looks pretty cool, definitely a lot of work went into all that custom stuff. I probably won't mess with it, because I don't like mods that change gameplay (I can't believe that mod buffs Time Mage, that's crazy), but its another thing in favor of the SNES version when comparing all the ports.
That Titan fight.... If I had gone through the horrific experience of manually stealing that hammer with no access to return and THEN died.... Well, I'm not sure I could have recovered from that. edit - surprised you didn't do the earth hammer thornlet damage trick with the berserker. Considered too close to cheating? 2nd edit - also, forgot you can't even get return at that point. Probably why I've never gone for the hammer. You have more patience than I and I'm pretty darn patient :P
Awful memories woth omniscient there, i did a no magic run which was just no mp wasting moves, meaning i could use geomancer And of course omniscient did return with everything. The strategy ended up being getting a mage to hit him with the staff that berserks enemies and then hitting him with tons of physicals until he died, he still did over 1k damage with every punch
Yeah, if you don't have speedup, then waiting MP out is juts not feasible. If you die after waiting for literal hours, that's probably the worst feeling in the world.
White Mage is really terrible with starting, but goes best job late game. I can just imagine how painful and long Garula might are White Mages only. So i think its bit too tedious use it first (Four job fiesta) challenge. What coming about final boss white mages is pretty unstobbale here. Holy is very strong offensive spell and white mage have best defense spells entire game. Like Images, armors, shell, and Cure 3 & Life 2 too.
While i definitely understand the thought behind these picks, after a 100 or so Fiesta runs I will say that beyond a shadow of a doubt, Dragoon is the worst class in the game. A large part of what makes Fiesta so fun is the interactions between classes. Nobody benefits from Jump, Lances are an almost unsupported weapon class, Lancet is not even good on casters, and by endgame, status resist is more important than armor. Meanwhile Sword Dance is the earliest youll ever see 9999 damage pop up, Ribbon is nuts, and charm lets you levitate.
You make a good argument actually, I've never really thought about how Jump and Equip Lances can never be combined in a meaningful way. What a waste of potential.
Posting at start: since the game is beatable with a solo white mage (all-be-it, without going bald from all the hair pulling -- and PROBABLY a memory debugger to pace Elixir use on the Atmos fight), I'll say this party is probably possible. Question is not WHETHER this can be done, but how much hair pulling will be required. I'm going to bet you succeed with moderate difficulty, but predict you will have to overlevel, possibly excessively with that party. EDIT: Also saw in the comments someone mention the 4 berserkers party as worse -- it is... Solo Berserker is the only known impossible setup to win with (I think 4 berserkers CAN win this, but, once again, excessive hair pulling is required -- but one can't).
I'll correct myself, I hard walled on dragon flower with my solo white mage on steam original because he was too slow to keep the correct flowers confused, but if I "accidentally" cheated a ribbon on his head he sailed through and then, playing without the "accidentally" equipped ribbon I got through exdeath 2. i know I was arguing with another guy about the holy staffs on another video I was commenting this story on, so PR may have removed the holy staff drop from world 2, so solo white mage MAY be impossible in PR, i haven't tried yet.
~24:00 -- there's an acccessory you can buy that prevents old (think it's the angel ring), but it's REALLY expensive, so I can see, for this challange, why you might bypass it and instead substitute a retries (hopefully not TOO many retries ;-p )
Bells have full power from back iirc. Also think they are like axes in that they pierce defense or something. Point is could of sworn the single bell is stronger than it should be but idk
In retrospect I think I should have gone with the tiara in place of the ribbon early on, Dancer is so frail no matter what that the increased Sword Dance odds probably were better. Oh well. Also I think you're right about the Bells, it's too bad they're so neglected.
@@Suprapika Bells are full power from backrow but their gimmick is that they check Magic Defense while having a damage roll of 0.5x to 1.0x. Yes. Bells can only low roll their damage. No, they do not get high power to compensate.
*Sees the list of the Four Jobs shown* Oh that's wrong surely. It's 4 Berserkers. 5 seconds later "The actual worst party is 4 Berserkers"
And apparently that isn't as universal an opinion as I thought, going by the comment section.
Ah, the Everhate (RIP) party.
@@FFKonoko If you want to see the insanity of four Berserkers in the Pixel Remaster, the channel Backlog Buster has already done that. In fact, he is halfway through his single class challenge runs. I don't think it is going well for his sanity, tough.

Fr, hate that guy. I ALWAYS cheese that fight with sleep
@@Pickleton I simply mix Thief with !Time. High AGI means faster/first turn Gravity/Graviga casting to get around low STR.
One thing i learned here in UA-cam is no matter how stupid is the can we beat challenge is, the answer 95% of the time is yes.
Probably survivorship bias on some level, but you’d be shocked what’s playable

I just love seeing all the FF5 contents lately. Gameplay wise it's my most fav of the SNES/GBA triology.
"I want to make this as difficult as possible"
No you don't... Otherwise you'd be playing the PS1 version with minute long loading times between every single battle.
Alright, fair point there
The word possible is involved there, so this is the hardest.
I think the Berserker is powered by faith. You have to believe that it can be useful, or else it won't do anything
Berserker is fairly tanky and able to cause damage, both of which are pretty good things to be in FF5 lol
My 2 fiestas this year had thief and dancer and I'd definitely take berserker over those any day in the future lol
Yeah, I think I'm with you there.
It does require you to miss out on using the Ribbon since it takes up that slot, but that's probably worth it. the reasons you might end up not doing it is that if it was a real FJF you wouldn't know you had dancer as your next job, and it's a rare steal, so getting it can be a real pain
Another possible improvement is that you could enter the world 2 exdeath fight with float activated if you charm a Poison Eagle all the way back in Drakenvale to have it cast float on you and then go straight to Exdeath without saving. This way of getting float is also a way to cheese Catastrophe later on, since giving a reflect ring to a floating character makes it never do attacks
Equip Ribbons might be worth considering for the Berserker in the Void, not just for the Ribbon but for equiping the Man-Eater.

@@eldonhill4840 Square never did tighten up the graphics in level 3.
This video got me thinking and without job repeats, and without using additional fiesta rules (like natural) I have a hard time deciding what would actually be the worst party
My gut instinct wants to say something like Thief, White Mage, Bard, Geomancer, as the team would have fairly bad damage from all four members basically forever, a truly horrific early game, and it cant really take advantage of each others job skills in any really meaningful way
At the very end game bard enables enough buff stacking that the Thief+Geomancer can probably knife fight their way to victory with the white mages help without TOO much trouble but actually getting there would be pretty awful, but white mage probably enables it no matter how bad the damage is. Replacing white mage is hard though, as if you want to put bard on the list you basically can't add any good or even middling melee to the team like Dragoon or Berserker or else it has somebody to pump up and it becomes really strong pretty easily
Everybody who can equip a rod is straight out for obvious reasons too so no red mage, Black Mage, Summoner, Time Mage, Knight, Monk, Samurai etc all have obviously no place near a "worst" team
Dancer is pretty damn bad and obnoxious to try to actually use but with support it can easily carry a run (as seen in this video really) even if it's a pain to use lol
I dunno it's an interesting question lol the team i'd least like to run in all of FF5 is without a doubt 4x Thief it sounds truly awful as a squad and gets my personal vote for single worst job even in a normal party (even worse than berserker and I say that as someone who has ran 4x berserker before lol they really arent that bad and can slot into a lot of normal teams pretty well and hold their own weight, death sickles alone are extremely cool and useful basically the entire game)
I agree that it's an interesting question; despite the name of this video, I honestly think it's a good thing that there's no definitive "worst job combination" that everyone can agree on.
@@Suprapika Yeah for sure I think it speaks to the relative balance of the game
Considering how many jobs there are they did a great job (👀) with the balance, the encounters/gear availability/items in 5 all walk a weird narrow line that keeps most things relevant in some capacity in most situations avoiding the like "This is the magic boss you have to magic to death" kind of solution-based encounters they easily could've designed instead, that'd make replaying it way less interesting
Definitely. I talked about this recently with one of my co-commentators, but FFV is extremely well balanced for how many moving parts there are, AND considering how old it is.
Never even played Final Fantasy let alone 5 but I love videos like this
Glad to hear it! I hope if you do play FFV, you'll remember this video fondly
"Sometimes when you revive a Berserker, they'll get up and immediately swing"
Maybe a glitch but that's absolutely something a Berserker would do
I'm okay with believing it's a feature if it was consistent, at least.
@Suprapika It's probably just a quirk with their turn speed like you said, I just think it's funny that it's still in character
one strat if you have thief+dancer is to steal a lamia tiara in ronka runis and use it over ribbon for the dance boost over the ribbon. and once one character masters dancer they can use the ribbon so it's not wasted
I will definitely remember this considering so many people have mentioned it, this is the "giving Barehanded to mages is OP" thing all over again.
It's probably sprite jank, but at 1:16:20, when Krile takes a Flare to the face, her tiger onesie's eyes look like they're bleeding
Hyperrealistic Krile creepypasta
@@ysmahelyfilho9998 Well, judging by the fact that Galuf dueled Exdeath on sheer adrenaline (seriously?! 10000's worth of damage?) I think she might go the same route if need be... Still, Flare *is* one of the most powerful spells and I don't think I noticed the sprite error you mentioned.
Tellah: "You spoony bard! Take this!"
*Obliterates Edward with Meteor*
Me: *doesn't even want to know*
Omg, this is such a good video, is so interesting to get a really deep look into the battle system
Ff5 is one of the most underrated games of the franchise imo
Thanks! I wonder if FFV is still actually underrated, it gets said so much I feel like eventually it had to have gotten the love it deserves.
I got Dancer and Geomancer in 4 job fiesta and they actually did pretty well....thanks to having blue mage too lol
Never played this one but watched the whole video 👍
Appreciate it!
That sucks ass, sorry you had to deal with that.
Poor Faris is spending a lot of time face down on the ground in the early bosses lol
Edit: and right as I post that, Lenna goes down instead XD
Thats fair. The jobs are still really cool and have a lot of fun intricacies to how they work and mix.
also i think rune chime is the best caster item it boosts fire, ice ,lightning, poison, wind, earth, and holy damage and has rune weapon mp crits if you attack.
Berserker might be the worst, but it's also the cutest.
Krile's Berserker and White Mage outfits are top tier design.
That would be a whole new twist.
what makes dancer good in PR?
@@Calintares 1 full back row damage.
2 Lamia's Tiara (steal in Ronka Ruins) gives higher Sword Dance %.
This makes them a great low cost DPS unit and !Dance an ultimate mid and end game skill.
!Dance will hit the damage cap before anything else (Galuf's world) and will produce reliable 20k damage at the end with Dual Wield.
Nice work man! It must have been very frustrating 😂
I know Dancer is terrible but at least sword dance + chicken knife is good.
Thank you for sharing your journey :)
great vid, good balance of commentary/no commentary, very knowledgeable of the game and its mechanics.
Love your videos btw, very enjoyable content
Thanks!
Watching this while waiting out omniscient’s MP on my own challenge run
Sorry for your loss.
I recently learned that the Bell you get in world 1 doesn't trigger the return counter in the Omniscient fight. The damage is terrible but it is still faster than waiting out his MP.
Huh, that's notable. I'm not sure when I'll use that info, but it is good to know.
(Me casually seeing a ffv vid)
Oh neat a fun topic for 11 mins okay i guess that’s it…wait why does he keep going…oh my gaud…he’s gonna try and make a bad playthrough 😭. This man is putting in the work
looking forward to watching this
Great video!
Worst job by itself is bard. Backlog buster did a challenge run on it and boy oh boy it was just as long as the berserker only run
Quadzerker *also* needs to grind for Reflect Rings, so there's that.
Max Str bonus, effectively dual-wield, and scaling damage
Yes, thief has artful dodger, but I think I would still prefer bare-handed.
Nice challenge!
Thief, the mediocre job on a crystal where all the other jobs range from pretty solid to gamebreaking,
and the other 3 jobs that are actually really bad.
I feel like if you were allowed to double dip and swap thief for another job from a different crystal, you could definitely have a worse party (without multiple of the same job)
Honestly I'm not sure. Maybe you could replace it with Red Mage, but even then I think the Thief is worse.
Yeah, that's basically the conclusion I came to in this video. A couple of these jobs aren't horrible, it's just hard to find ones that are worse.
I also think the gba port is the best.
Maybe you could do a video ranking ports
I think someone like AustinSV is much more qualified than me to make port comparison videos, but I can give my opinions here:
SNES - Most convenient because of the Project Demi mod, with cutscene skipping and a reward multiplier.
Dancer Bartz carried my team just with a bunch of lucky sword dances
Dancer is legit. The actual worst Earth Crystal job is dragoon
@@katenordin2526 Kain Highwind and Edgar Figaro would like a word with you...
@@ThePikachunianRebel It definitely suck in ffv lol
@@Suprapikamaybe because the Beserker is so enraged he can't think straight? That's what I always considered it from a lore standpoint.
Dancer is great, once you get all the late game equipment that's required.
So glad pixel remasters made berserkers better - mine hit consistentely, deal great damage (with doublehand, admittedely), my faris was a legitemate boss buster.
Berserkers are amazing dude. Especially with Death Sickles.
(Something like a black mage willing to snap rods can leave with 99 of them.)
A lot of rare steals are excellent for how early you get them as well.
Berserker isn't a bad job. Just a boring one.
No, it's terrible. Never being able to input commands is not worth whatever power it might have. Try out a solo berserker run, 4 berserkers are roughly 10% likely to beat neo exdeath at lvl 99. You literally can't grind to win it's that bad
Berserker can be pretty ok if you play around with the other jobs passive skills
Now wait for the video with the best JOBs
@@tabrissousac9895 4 samurais is already out :)
Unlikely, because me and RJ made our video on the jobs of this game and we gave our tier lists at the very end. My opinions on some jobs have slightly changed since then, but not enough to make a whole new video about it
Dragoon might be worse than Dancer, given that spears are relatively uncommon and Jump and Lancet are underwhelming.
How?
Give the Dancer Dual-Wield as an ability and then all of the sudden it's not quite as terrible
I'd rather do 4 thief early than 4 white early. White's late game advantage is irrelevant as every job pops off by endgame. Don't know why Blue mage is even a discussion, it has 0 problem fights throughout the entire game.
You can do so fun things with Berserker. Auto murder machine if you do it right
Isn’t this what ProtonJon got the year he did a fiesta?
I didn't know he ever played FFV, so... maybe?
"OH MY GOD, THEY KILLED FARIS!"
"You bastards!"
I was watching the melusine fight wondering why it’s going so long and why they aren’t doing dmg and then i remembered that’s the point of the challange lol
I mean you say four berserkers would be the worst team but at least that has damage output, NOW FOUR BARDS oof.
My favorite part of this is that Exdeath 1 took 13 minutes
And THAT was the successful run.
I would honestly say that 4 Bards is the worst party. Sure, Berserkers can't do anything but attack, but, Bards are so colossally weak it's laughable.
I would consider doing a "quad Bard VS quad Berserker" video if there wasn't already a guy doing them individually. I'm glad there's somebody out there willing to do runs like those.
@@Suprapikai love his videos lol. Just found you tho

World 3/Rift weapon of choice for Geomancer is the Rune Bell (rare drop in rift ruins from Baldanders, boost every elements for Gaia and rune crits on attack)
Lamia Tiaras are VERY good. Especially for dancers. The magic defense/eva lets you avoid many status too. Not grabbing them in Ronka probably slowed your world 2 a lot (even equip ribbon+dancing dagger is optimal on Berzerker for some fights)
Since 3 characters have cloth armor (usually good magic def/eva) entangle from Levi probably just missed.
Funny how this is the SECOND time Geomancer puts in great work against the final boss by being gifted with consistency.
Geomancer is so cute though!
It does have a great outfit, I like Krile's "getting eaten by a piranha plant" suit.
@@Suprapika I only wanted beastmaster so I could maybe learn every possible spell on my blue mage a bit easier. Might do Samurai that sounds cool
The Ribbon is great, but the stats are less important than the (potential) damage increase.
people prove every year on Four Jobs Fiesta that the game is beateable with every class.
Good shit thanks for the vid
i am kinda upset that geomancer is considered as one of the worst jobs here, since i think it is actually very powerful and lowkey broken early
Edit: Okay, i was getting my torches ready too early.
Berserk the status isn't bad, it's forcibly not being able to control 1/4th of your team that's bad.
Theoretically if you could use the extra GBA jobs which could you use in a worst job run?
I hope you can do a gba extra job only run in the future just for the sheer lol factor and insane damage you can rack up with them.
The rainbow mage party
Red mage
Blue mage
White mage
Black mage
1 Mage, 2 Mage, Red Mage, Blue Mage
Curious if You've tried out the pixel free master patch for the snes version
I dunno how much overlap it has with project demi but it's got some nice QoL
Like blue mage doesn't need to get hit with the spell, it just has to be cast on the party at all
I checked the changelist, looks pretty cool, definitely a lot of work went into all that custom stuff. I probably won't mess with it, because I don't like mods that change gameplay (I can't believe that mod buffs Time Mage, that's crazy), but its another thing in favor of the SNES version when comparing all the ports.
these Jobs arent meant to be used as a main front, they are there to level up for their Utility once you have Mime or use Freelancers
Lilligant profile pic? Instant Subcribed
Noticed it too. Unovean Lilligant at that, and I've picked up B2W2 on emulator recently and realized how much I missed out.
I know, right? It was so many resets, I definitely went into Maximum Attention Mode for that fight.
Awful memories woth omniscient there, i did a no magic run which was just no mp wasting moves, meaning i could use geomancer
And of course omniscient did return with everything. The strategy ended up being getting a mage to hit him with the staff that berserks enemies and then hitting him with tons of physicals until he died, he still did over 1k damage with every punch
Omniscient being able to just slug you to death is such shit, he's a Mage!
@@Suprapika i couldve just wasted his mp but i wasnt emulating and i didnt want to wait hours for this..
It's funny you say this, because there's a future video involving White Mage only until after Garula, and it's pretty bad.
I feel a bit silly for trying to do a run with 3 units always afflicted with Berzerk now
Hey, it CAN work if you have the right setup.
Can't do the bonus dungeon with this party. You need Beastmaster AND Thief to do the bonus dungeon.
Oh yeah, I totally forgot they make you capture something. I guess you could cheat for just those parts, if you wanted to.
3 of these were on my ffv fiesta run
I'm gonna guess you didn't have Geomancer.
Also world 1 you could have got a piece of dancer gear in ronka ruins...granted giving up ribbon is hard
Well. That's shit.
I Am Confused HOw Your Classes Look Different And How Some Team Only Have 3 Teams!
Different how?
@@Suprapika The Character Look Different Each Fight Is It A Outfit Change!
Brooooo i use berserker and geomancer in my party normally 😭😭😭
You're not the only one, trust me.
Same here. I usually Haste my Beserker, and the Dhorme Chimera is *somewhat* easier with a Geo.
There are no bad classes in Final Fantasy 5. There are only bad players.
Yes, Final Fantasy 5 is easy. You can beat it with any combination.
True. At least it's fun when doing it!
oh no Faris is down!
yeah yeah we know again lol
