🤭
ahahahahah!
Lol
Funny - but TRUE!
Who else here just wants him to go ahead and do every Mastodon song?
He should seriously do an album play through
Absolutely agree!
I'm wondering how many of these there actually are?
blkmtl96 hopefully lots more
😎
Brann's the only one in Mastodon who doesn't look like he's aged 30 years lmao. Troy turned into a greying wizard, Bill turned into an 1800's Pinkerton agent, Brent looks like an alcoholic uncle, but Brann still looks 30 lol
"1800's Pinkerton agent"...best description ever! 😀 - Chris/Meinl
to be fair, they've been around for 18 years. not bad aging for rockers
I was thinking the same thing lol dude is a vampire
perfect description
Drummers are like marathon runners, they are just in good shape (generally speaking).
I appreciate how sparingly Brann uses double bass. Some metal drummers just ride it all day and it gets so boring. When he does it, it really stands out.
He used it alot more in the earlier days of mastodon like on Iron Tusk on Leviathan or on Remission
Wtf? He uses double pedals for like 3 min straight
He plays to the guitars, not the bass which is what separates him from anyone else
This is one of the best albums of the 2000s.
Absolutely. Crack the Skye is epic.
Pick up the instrumental version of it if you haven't already- it's a totally different trip just focusing on the tunes.
One of the best albums, with the best drummers of.... forever.
@@NoLimitHonky WHAT ? there's an instrumental version ?
@@TMmodify Its Crack the Skye Deluxe edition. All the regular tracks plus the instrumental for each
He can flickity flam those drums
Like nobody I ever seen or knew
literally came here to write that
CrystalLake84 Magnificent work, sir or madam.
Lol
Like flickity flam flam flam!
This guys runs himself ragged on the drums and writes incredibly complicated shit and when you see him play he just has the biggest smile ever on his face. He clearly loves what he does and so do we!
Please play the entire Crack the Skye album like this. Outstanding performance like always
It's already on UA-cam, search for brann dailor and the name of any song on CTS
Agreed
@@JDubzDrumz same!!!!! Such a gem of a album and Brann is just a god on the kit. Ghosts of Kharelia is my favorite out of all👌
This album was nuts live. They sound even better live than on recording
there is an instrumental version of this album.
i wish all mastodon were like this.
Brann: literally using every muscle in his body while playing extremely complex rhythms.
Also Brann: Fuck it, I’m the lead singer now too.
Nothing but respect lol
@@dcmastermindfirst9418 jelousy of people will more skill than you isnt a good look lol

@@dcmastermindfirst9418 You mean spellin thier cheef and no it does not matter
PUT SOME BUTTER ON THEM DAMN ROLLS
He did--look at his hair!
The great thing about brann is that he uses the drums as an instrument, not a metronome like so many other bands
🥇
Definitely my favorite drummer. The "organized chaos" style... madness from start to finish, but madness with PRECISION
Systematic Chaos
Mastodon would not be Mastodon without Brann. What a beast of a player. So creative. I just love his lines.
ALL Mastodon members matter! Lmao haha yeah dude! His style is uniqe, engaging and legendary. Brann is such an inspiring guy! I cant wait for new Mastodon!
@@brandonaitchison3747 he wrote most of the lyrics for a while there, too
@The Lord of Entropy Yes! The ballsy ass riffs come from him mostly. He was a KEY component in the making of Emperor Of Sand. Also that stash rules!
Special Agent Krycek is the guy at the party that hates parties and complains the whole time.
The Lord of Entropy bill is extremely important, he writes a bunch of the riffs, dude is a riff machine while brent is the more technical dude who does more shredding. So ya bill is super important to the band, great player and a fantastic riff writer. He was the driving force behind their last album EOS, he did alot of really great stuff on that album
Such an underrated drummer.
both inside and outside of the metal community
honestly so underrated I would dare say Brann is the greatest metal drummer of all time
@@SpikeletTheBoss totally agree, hes the best metal drummer of all time
that's the snare sound I WANT
How Brann is able to do a whole set of songs like this will forever be a mystery to me. it. is. hard.
AND SING AT THE SAME DAMN TIME
@@bobbyosborne2375I FORGOT *AND SING AT THE SAME DAMN TIME*
But in live while he is singing he not play the same fills o parts like the perform in studio....but man still monster and freak energy boy
This kit is so beautiful
hahaha what???
Bass drum photo is better
Mostly Rodney and Redd.
Possibly my favourite moment on the whole Crack The Skye album :
" Sinister Twin! Choking on Fear....Bonded Iron Sink to the core....! "
Chills every time.
One of my favorites as well. It's so unbelievably good
yes!
Twinnsakes
This song is so underrated Troy is awesome on the vocals. Who else thinks of the album cover when he says sinister twin?
@@Daniel.Miranda it's his best vocal performance on any Mastodon song, if you ask me
My buddies and I met Brann after a show (in Minneapolis on their Primus tour) and he was the nicest dude, totally made our night as we are all huge fan of Mastodon.
Totally down to earth dude it seems
all the guys in mastodon (with the exception of brent probably) are just so nice and fun people. they're one of the only bands I'd consider meeting and greeting with because they are just renowned for being nice. other bands can show up to a meet and greet and lose fans because of how mean or grumpy the members are (the who, pink floyd, gnr), it kinda ruins the magic, but mastodon doesn't disappoint.
Awesome! Now let's see that prog breakdown in The Last Baron!
Literally this
The whole song slaps but pretty much weekly I put it on and just skip to 6:40 or whatever for that one part
@@adamnesbitt11 I do this too. In The Last Baron the riff around 8:18 mark is *THE Mastodon Riff* for me!
Brann's activity on the drums is unparalleled. The man is a machine!
Love the bass drum head.
Rodney dangerfield and Redd Foxx
He the busiest beaver of a drummer I've ever seen.
Hes busier than a one legged man in an ass kicking contest
Does that guitar melody remind anyone of the schism guitar breakdown?
@@caseyguillot1628 Busier than a cat burying shit on concrete!
@@eastwaters4082 Well that is fucking busy isn't it then
@@alexwales8914 He’s a busy little beaver
I am vibing SO HARD with those toms
What a kit.
What a song.
What a man.
The most expressive drummer of these times!
Baard Kolstad
@@omukssbm Correct.
I met him at a show in Portland. He was in the audience watching baroness and he was standing right next to my friend and I. I told him he was a drum God. He was super appreciative and he hung out there until shortly before their set. Super cool dude.
Can't describe how nervous I was though. It was when they were touring on crack the Skye so I was hardcore fan-girling.
He is such a genuine human. Saw mastodon and gojira in Denver a couple nights ago. After thier set he came to the mic and thanked all of the crew and stagehands for the hard work and tossed all his sticks in the crowd
Love how he can add so much color in his playing and play very busy beats and it never sounds like “overplaying”.
I remember seeing Mastodon live once and they played all of crack the skye and it was so incredibly loud and powerful, it was at that show that I knew what it meant to be truly face-melted
I play bass and have no idea how people can have that level of coordination to play drums like this. It’s wizardry.
My girl is a drummer and she once tried to teach me how to play the thing, as I'm a big fan of the drummers. I was doing fine with just my hands, but the moment I tried using my feet as well I completely messed up and lost the plot. It's amazing how people can make these kinda stuff with those levels of precision. It's just insane.
I'm a bass player and it's beyond me how Troy sings "Ghost of Karelia" while playing it too.
Brann is such an amazingly talented drummer. Dude can fill any space with those drums. Its truly a remarkable skill set to behold.
He doesn't get the recognition he deserves, it's a shame
this entire album was a stroke of musical genius, it doesn't get enough credit as the masterpiece it truly is
Brann's fills are 💯 signature. I love his chops 🥩🪓 and his look is totally rock-'n'-roll 🙏
I'm from Karelia and my ghost wants to say: This playthrough is AMAZING !
Love watching Brann, he's such a fun drummer. All of the guys in Mastodon are just awesome.
The dynamic range he gets on his snare rolls is so fucking sick. Got damn.
You sir, Complete me.
Please do ALL the songs like this! Please.
God I Love Mastodon.
I'm not a drummer but could obviously recognize how good Brann is. But actually watching him play is mind blowing and has brought him up even higher level for me
Since his first video i've been waiting for this song!!
As soon as i saw Red and Rodney i was like yeah, dude is definitely gonna wield
You can really tell Brann was getting so into the groove while he was banging those drums. He looks so full of glee and I don't blame him, if I could play at his level I'd love to just knock out songs like it's nothing.
Brann Dailor's kit is EVERYTHING!!
“Dang ol good drummer on them dang ol skins man, tell you what”
DANG OL MAN.. I TELL YOU, HWHATT
Meshuggah Fan8675 I stand corrected sir.
Dangit, Brannie
Gen-X Ennial that’s what the government would want you to think
That bass drum is holding on for dear life!
One of the best-sounding drummers out there today
Absolute beast of a drummer. It takes an insane amount of work to make it look that easy!
This album was so impactful. It sounds timeless, like it always existed, yet is still fresh today. Just an absolute masterpiece. I never tire of it.
I've been waiting for this playthrough for a long time. His featherlight touches on the Ghostrider are just trippy.
I see Brann, I click. Good job!
Brann is a living legend.
Dear Brann, please consider uploading the rest of Crack the skye as well.
I had the honor and privilege of casually chatting with Brann at my friend's house in Memphis, where the band crashed that night.
I asked him to show me the drum line from "Honor" by Today Is The Day, and later they played a CD (or tape) of their new music... March Of The Fire Ants.
Also learned he was in an Elvis Costello cover band. I have no regerts.
i got to hang with him and bs for about an hour after a mastodon show in seattle. super good dude! gave brent hinds a dank nug and got a big hug from him haha. fun night!
Finding this video a couple years later, wouldn't mind seeing Brann come back to do "Pushing the Tides." SOOO MUCH insane stuff going on in the song; I need to see how he pulls it off!
Brann is a powerhouse, but I love when he slows down even more.
The steambreather opening maybe one of the meatiest yet groovy drum tracks ever.
The intro of Steambreather is fucking awesome indeed. Even the small guitar solo is so freaking good
@@MisterGreenw00d duuun dun dun, dunnn dun duuun, dunn dun dun, dunn dun dunnnaaaanaaaaaa
For his sake I hope they don’t play this one live too much, I’m exhausted just watching
Tobias Poulsen indeed. Drumming is a workout.
He also sings some of the harmonies during the double kick section when they play this live. The dude is a machine
Oh, but they do. I think it's one of the songs they play on a regular basis from its respective album, Crack in the Skye. Brann Dailor is one of my favorite drummers in all of metal ^^ If you liked it, I strongly recommend listening to the entire Crack in the Skye album. It's my absolute favorite of theirs, and Brann just crushes it beginning to end. =)
Both times I've seen them live they have played this song
José Pestana it’s always between Leviathan and Crack The Skye as their best for me.
Please! Upload "The Last Baron"!
That KIt is amazing!
Brann has got to be one of the most underrated drummers in metal right now!
What are you saying he is like the most respected and known one in the metalverse
I love how all of the members of Mastodon can geek out on their gear. It’s no wonder every album sounds amazing.
You can tell he really loves this song, this is so cool to watch.
One of my favorite Drummers
I want to become as great as Brann one day. Discovered these Mastodon demos less than three days ago, and I've already been blown away by Brann's playing. Truly an amazing drummer.
Finally! Been waiting for this! My favorite Mastodon song hands down
Holy shit, why did the drums not sound this good on the record? That kit is fucking spectacular, and the mastering on this recording is absolutely incredible! I don't even play the drums and I'm ready to order Meinl cymbals.
So sick!! Always loved his playing
FINALLY one of these videos where they have Brann fully locked in and playing the song with great quality
What a stunning kit!
Great kit and great drummer
So good!!! Glad to see this vid!
he is so good, damn !
and good sounding kit and cymbals !
Excellent composition. Love me some Mastodon.
My first listen to Mastadon.
Music is just so tasty, so textured.
This guy Brann is unbelievable.
Control of push, and release is freakin’ awesome.
probably listened to this song about a million times by now. still am mesmerized watching him play it
Gives me more appreciation for what you do sir.
Holy crap! I've been waiting patiently for this one
Cannot overstate how GREAT this band is, this LP is and how AMAZING this dude's drumming is AND fits their music. 🤘
I always love the drums in Mastodon. I’ve seen them live and they were amazing live. Definitely I would go see these guys live again. Plus I can’t wait for their new album to come out.
These videos featuring Brann gave two awesome gifts... Mastodon's music and desire to change my cymbal setup to Meinl. 🤘❤
Wow so many colors!!
Literally my fav Mastodon song🔥🔥
Beyond incredible! Inimitable! Completely unique in music!
Awesome set up and amazing drummer/band, love the Rodney and Redd head 🤘🤘
i love the drums on this track so so so much
Such density and groove. Supurbositous.
Such a musical drummer, the beat is there but there's so much other stuff going on there. Love watching this!
My favourite drummer ❤
My favorite drummer on Earth today! Every time I get the pleasure of watching this man perform live, it’s an absolute treat.
He is one of the best. I love watching him play.
These drum cams are an incredible gift. I don't have a drum set yet but have been wanting to learn branns style for years, especially since I got a drumstick he played with from the first concert I was able to go to from Mastodon
I'm going to say that I'm glad that I get to look up to this man because he is absolutely brilliant
That blast beat at 4:15 was completely uncalled for but totally necessary and I love it..
Thank you Meinl. That was great
One of my top favorite drummers.he adds so much depth to each song its like a basic beat and full-on drum fill from beginning to end. It seems so improvised like there is no way you could ever play their songs the same way each time
Sickest drum set I’ve seen. Pretty much ever.
Great video! Love seeing a professional drummer up close doing something they love to do. Also - The Redd Foxx/Rodney Dangerfield bass head is amazing.
His kits always have the most gorgeous finishes.
Also love the audio Technica mics on toms and overheads.
I absolutely LOVE his drumset.
This album saved my life.
One of the more interesting kits I’ve seen.
This dude looks like he'd be a bartender at Chili's
With your name tag hahaha
Who doesn't like Chili's?
Chili's would be lucky to have him.
if he is, I'd like a rack of triplets covered & smothered in Jack Daniel's barbeque sauce, wash these tasty as hell -fills down with some bourbon.
