Yep, absolutely! I’ve stayed in a few so-called haunted houses here in the U.K, including what is labelled as ‘Britain’s most haunted pub’. I didn’t notice anything unusual at all and slept soundly. Perhaps it’s because I don’t believe in ghosts.
The Borden Mansion where Lizzie's father n stepmother were hacked to death is a bed and breakfast you can stay at as well if you have a nice wad of money.
Haunted houses in movies are fascinating. They’re actual locations, however some claim that the actors themselves are being ‘haunted’ by spirits on set while filming.
I think the scariest or creepiest haunted house would be the one most people don't want to enter. In that case, the #1 would be Juon (The Grudge) as if you enter it even once, you're dead. The worst part is if you enter it, and end up dying in your own house, you spread the haunting like a virus. I don't understand how it's not #1 here with the explanation that the writers probably didn't watch most of these movies.
Disappointed to not see Rose Red make the list, based off the Winchester Mystery House - that movie terrified me and I had to walk home alone after watching it
That sound haunts me to this day. When my friends want to spooked me they play that sounds and I am always reduced to a small whimpering ball on the floor.
My friend got a house at a very cheap price as it was a haunted house & no one was willing to buy it. My friend, his wife & kids have not experienced any paranormal activity in the house.
1408 is less of a horror but more a supernatural Thriller. This is one of my favorite movies that I've seen dozens of times. It falls more along the line of a mystery that needs to be solved.
The Amityville house became so popular the owners that bought the house after the Lutz family moved out had to change the front windows that made the house look like it had a pair of eyes so the people couldn't find it as easy. They also changed the address. It's not 112 Ocean Ave. It's now 108.
You should try the 1977 Japanese movie 'House' directed by Nobuhiko Obayashi. Do not, I repeat DO NOT, watch this movie while stoned. You have been warned.
I'm VERY Surprised that the House from Stephen King's Rose Red wasn't on this list. You need to do a Part 2 and include it, also where is the House from Season 1 of American Horror Story.
I seem to have a strange thing about horror films...often the things that I find most frightening are scenes others find too tame, for instance in "Poltergeist," I find the scene where the mother turns away from the table with the chairs neatly pushed under the table and when she turns back, the chairs are on the table all stacked onto each other, some hanging out in space and there is this one twisted note of discordant note of music. Scarier than the clown doll, the ravenous tree, the beast at the end.
Subtle horror is a forgotten art. That creeping dread, leaving you wondering if what you just saw was real or not? Lovecraft is a great source of Cosmic Horror, a similar genre of subtlety rather then spectacle
I would add The Yew House, from the 1971 film, The House that Dripped Blood. While not traditionally haunted, it could cause the occupants to haunt themselves, by reflecting their personalities back at them to supernatural levels to cause events to happen, which would end badly with the wrong kind of occupants, if they had strong darkness, agression, fear, ego, pride, or the like within them.
Scary Haunted Houses like these are definitely and totally Perfect for Halloween every year in October! They're all Super Scary, Creepy, Terrifying and Horrifying!
1408 is conected to the seventh circle of hell, Mike even says the pictures are a reference to it, that’s why the room didn’t do anything to actually kill the people there, rather than to drive them to commit suicide
I never understood why they HAD to rent 1408 - that was so silly. Just keep the room constantly "booked" or "under maintenance" or something. It's not that hard to keep someone from renting a specific room 😂
I love stories about haunted houses!! I've even read a few fiction books about them. 2 of my favorites are both titled Haunted. The stories are completely different. The novel by James Herbert was made into a movie staring Aiden Quinn and Cate Beckinsale. The novel by Tamara Thorne is something I wish could be made into a movie!
The original Poltergeist was fun I can still watch it to this day. But for whatever reason Poltergeist too scared the s*** out of me and still bothers me to this day. It's possibly because of the introduction to the creepy old priest.
I don’t believe in the supernatural/ghosts etc and have stayed in a few ‘haunted’ houses but I LOVE spooky films, The Others and Poltergeist being particular favourites. All good clean fun.
I actually have a copy of The Others.Cant hear a thing so I turn it up loud as I can. There is a jump scare (spoiler) with a door. The only thing you can hear in it.
I know it's not a movie. Rather, it's a limited series. But anyway, Hill House ("The Haunting of Hill House") seriously freaks me out. Meh. Whipstaff Manor ("Casper") isn't really that scary.
Not exactly a haunted house, the house as a back drop from ghost and Mr. Chicken, with Don Knotts, was very creepy and you can use your imagination that a ghost might reside in it. I know it's a comedy but this house has the stuff, of imagery.
The Amityville Horror. Number one longest horror movie franchise in horror history. I don’t know if Halloween would beat it but it’s scary as h***. After watching the movie and the last movie from the 2017 trailer, it’s a No
I'd stay in the Whipstaff Manor.🙂I wouldn't mind seeing the Monster house from across the street.I would not enter Aderdale Hall.😲I like the Maitland House.I feel sad for Sadie in The Conjuring. That poor dog.:-(😞Bathsheba couldn't let the dog live??

NO, we're not and thank goodness
Absolutely Not! No Way!
Yep, absolutely! I’ve stayed in a few so-called haunted houses here in the U.K, including what is labelled as ‘Britain’s most haunted pub’. I didn’t notice anything unusual at all and slept soundly. Perhaps it’s because I don’t believe in ghosts.
Oh yes I would, and I probably love it 😊❤
The Borden Mansion where Lizzie's father n stepmother were hacked to death is a bed and breakfast you can stay at as well if you have a nice wad of money.
Haunted houses in movies are fascinating. They’re actual locations, however some claim that the actors themselves are being ‘haunted’ by spirits on set while filming.
I liked how "The Others" flipped the script and had the ghosts being haunted by the living.
The Grudge today still gives me chills different level of eerie horror
I think the scariest or creepiest haunted house would be the one most people don't want to enter. In that case, the #1 would be Juon (The Grudge) as if you enter it even once, you're dead. 1408 is an underrated movie imo
I loved that movie ..... watched it in a theater when it came out
Yeah I love that movie they need to come out with a version of the movie where you can choose what ending that you want to watch
1 of few movies that actually scared me.
I love that movie 1408
Good to see The Legend of Hell House getting some recognition. A criminally underrated film.
I love this film, it's a shame it always gets overlooked.
What about Rose Red? It’s epic, the house is incredible!
Disappointed to not see Rose Red make the list, based off the Winchester Mystery House - that movie terrified me and I had to walk home alone after watching it
Monster House Is Really A Childhood Classic 😢
The Allerdyce Mansion in Burnt Offerings has to be the ultimate haunted house as it literally requires the life force of humans to repair itself.
Another underrated movie. And that creepy chauffeur. He is the stuff of nightmares.
@@SCCelticGoddes Yes, indeed, perfectly ghoulish!
I’m loving these “horror” type videos. Thanks WatchMojo for the content! :)
Monster House is a personal favorite Halloween movie. Harmon and Zemekis really created something special if painfully underrated
In the house of The Grudge? Heck no! I’ve seen those movies. I don’t think I can sleep with that noise
That sound haunts me to this day. When my friends want to spooked me they play that sounds and I am always reduced to a small whimpering ball on the floor.
@@salion_vee6164 😂😂😂
That house is foul. You die just cause you went in? BS rule. That sh!t aint right.
I definitely agree with the Overlook Hotel taking the top of the list, but I kinda feel like the Saeki House should've been higher than #9.
I don't know much about movies but Bly Manor and Hill House were pretty epic!
One of my favorite movies was on the list,The Changeling, thank you!💖💖💖
“Burnt Offerings “ was my favorite scary movie…..from way back in the ‘70s! 🎃
The Conjuring looks like a nice house but no, I wouldn’t stay there with a dark past
I was really hoping Rose Red would make it way on this list 😢😢 That movie deserves more love lol
Thank you for picking original versions instead of remakes.
I don’t mind living one of those haunted houses, unless one of my favorite deceased actors used to live here and we’ll be housemates
The Amityville house became so popular the owners that bought the house after the Lutz family moved out had to change the front windows that made the house look like it had a pair of eyes so the people couldn't find it as easy. They also changed the address. It's not 112 Ocean Ave. It's now 108.
The Legend of Hell House is a classic!
Nobody that makes haunted houses lists mentions Burnt Offerings. Man, I saw that as a kid and cannot forget the creepy smile of the chauffeur.
The Orphanage is one of my favorite Thriller movies. I’ve seen it twice and loved it
I love all the story's from Haunted Houses in films that are supposed to really be haunted and terrorised the cast and crew❤️
I love the conjuring, the grudge, The Amityville horror poltergeist, and the shining.
You should try the 1977 Japanese movie 'House' directed by Nobuhiko Obayashi. Do not, I repeat DO NOT, watch this movie while stoned. You have been warned.
"The Overlook Hotel: The Shining (1980)", the number one Creepiest Haunted House in Movies and that takes the top scare
I'm VERY Surprised that the House from Stephen King's Rose Red wasn't on this list. You need to do a Part 2 and include it, also where is the House from Season 1 of American Horror Story.
"The Orphanage" was an incredible movie! I never cried so much during a movie! Especially a horror type movie! So sad....
A Vincent Price movie. I’m getting Halloween vibes
Ref. The Amityville Horror - ‘There’s even a passage to hell in the basement’ - That’s what Londoners know as ‘The Northern Line’.
My list would've included the ballet institute of Suspiria.
Ooh…good one!

Big NO to Monster House. I still remember my childhood nightmares
Not gonna lie love a creepy house awesome list have more to visit now 🖤😈
I never understood why they HAD to rent 1408 - that was so silly. Just keep the room constantly "booked" or "under maintenance" or something. It's not that hard to keep someone from renting a specific room 😂
Fair point, but apart from that, I really like that one.
I wasn’t expecting Casper to be on this list 😂😂😂😂
10: I love Casper but I don’t think I can stay in a creepy house
Why is the Winchester house not listed in the top 20 Creepiest haunted houses?
I LOVE "The Haunting." The 1944 movie is my favorite horror movie.
Haunted Houses; nice on the inside but creepy on the outside
#0 cabin from evil dead
happy Halloween y'all hope y'all have a great day :)
@Lucifer of evilness indeed 😏
Collinwood in House of Dark Shadows and Night of Dark Shadows.
I remember I was so scared of The Shining.
Happy Halloween everyone 👻☠️💀👾

If you're in the market for a new house 🏠, keep in mind that
There Are Some Things
Your Realtor Might Not Tell You.
I stay in them awesome job 👏
Legend of Hell House is one of my favorites.
The original Poltergeist was fun I can still watch it to this day. But for whatever reason Poltergeist too scared the s*** out of me and still bothers me to this day. It's possibly because of the introduction to the creepy old priest.
As for the Amityville Horror, if I were the main actor I'd be more worried about how my wife has given birth to Thanos.
A hotel isn't a 'house' though 🤷🏻♂
The Shining hotel can actually be visited.
I have been there many times.
Stanley Hotel in Estes Park Colorado.
I don’t believe in the supernatural/ghosts etc and have stayed in a few ‘haunted’ houses but I LOVE spooky films, The Others and Poltergeist being particular favourites. All good clean fun.
Turn of the Screw/"The Innocents" had its plot used in the 1840 flashback storyline in the original "Dark Shadows" soap opera.
I actually have a copy of The Others.Cant hear a thing so I turn it up loud as I can. There is a jump scare (spoiler) with a door. The only thing you can hear in it.
Allerdale Hall should have been an historic treasure, but they let it go bust ass.
5:21 number 2?
Dang it, you said it three times!
The house of hounted hill is a fantastic horrormovie
I like to think ?MAYBE? The Shining isn't haunted but it's all cabin fever hearing the hotel's history.
HONORABLE MENTION: Rose Red
Winchester house...Winchester. Hull house...Night of the Demons.
I know it's not a movie. Rather, it's a limited series. But anyway, Hill House ("The Haunting of Hill House") seriously freaks me out.
Meh. Whipstaff Manor ("Casper") isn't really that scary.
Only Seen 19, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 9, 5, 3 and 1.
Jhorror is the scariest
If you want to see a weird & scary Japanese Haunted House movie you should definitely watch house.
Not exactly a haunted house, the house as a back drop from ghost and Mr. Chicken, with Don Knotts, was very creepy and you can use your imagination that a ghost might reside in it. I know it's a comedy but this house has the stuff, of imagery.
THE CONJURING HOUSE BRO
Huh. Maybe that's why I keep wanting a big ole gothic mansion. Free ghosts.
Where was Rose Red?!
The Amityville Horror. Number one longest horror movie franchise in horror history. I don’t know if Halloween would beat it but it’s scary as h***. After watching the movie and the last movie from the 2017 trailer, it’s a No
I would take precautions. Salt trap the door.
No Psycho?? I'd add the house in Burnt Offereings too....but no Psycho?
I always liked John Cusack!
the Overlook Hotel
I'd stay in the Whipstaff Manor.🙂I wouldn't mind seeing the Monster house from across the street.I would not enter Aderdale Hall.😲I like the Maitland House.I feel sad for Sadie in The Conjuring. That poor dog.:-(😞Bathsheba couldn't let the dog live??

Sucks you used the old versions of most of the movies. Especially house on haunted hill.
