I think you should make a part 2 because I think this murder is just chilling. Villisca axe murders occurred between the evening of June 9, 1912, and the early morning of June 10, 1912, in the town of Villisca, Iowa, United States. The six members of the Moore family and two guests were found bludgeoned in the Moore residence. All eight victims, including six children, had severe head wounds from an axe. A lengthy investigation yielded several suspects, one of whom was tried twice. The first trial ended in a hung jury and the second ended in an acquittal. The crime remains unsolved.
I was surprised this one wasn't on the list it's the very first thing I thought of when I saw the title of the video. And the house is supposedly a very haunted location to this day. Creepiest part of the murders to me is that josiah, the patriarch of the family, it was the only one of the victims killed using the sharp end of the ax. They say his face was completely obliterated whereas the other victims were bludgeoned with the blunt end of the ax.
It would be so interesting to drive by some of these homes. I have a strange obsession with serial killers so seeing the actual homes would be fascinating
little surprised the Judith Barsi murder house wasn't included. The child actor that did voice work in All Dogs Go to Heaven and The Land Before Time. Or the Dorothea Puente murder house where she killed nine people. She was called the "Death House Landlady".
Had to look this one up, but the killer, Albert Fish, his house is still standing. The song "Secret of Wysteria" is about him and his crimes. Also the Lindsay Borden House should still be standing to my knowledge.
Was expecting to see The Lalaurie Mansion in New Orleans on here, and after seeing the entries on the list... I think it should have been. If any house is a murder house, it's The Lalaurie Mansion in New Orleans. P.S. - Yes, the house is still there and is a popular tourist attraction.
Interesting the Lizzy Borden House didn’t make the list. It still stands in mostly original condition in New Bedford, MA. It’s a B & B so stay at your own risk! Hear it’s quite haunted!
one house that was the site of a murder that is still standing that wasn't mentioned in this list is the Benoit house in Fayetteville, GA, home of the biggest tragedy in pro wrestling history, the double murder suicide of the Benoit Family in June 2007 where former WWE & WCW World Champion Chris Benoit killed his wife Nancy and son Daniel before he took his own life. this tragedy was a moment that changed pro wrestling forever but the home where the tragedy occurred is still standing today.
It's scary that people were killed in these houses! Why would all these killers do that to their victims?! Some of these victims got killed at a very young age! God bless all the victims.🙏
no Lizzy Borden house? no EXORCIST house, sure, no one was murdered, but THE HOUSE where the exorcism happened, need be on a list, Warren house also. OO, Monte Cristo homestead (in Australia), surprised that wasn't here, there was murder. a stable boy was burnt alive and a couple maids were killed and Mrs Crawly's youngest daughter was dropped down the stairs.
@WatchMojo - you guys should do a part 2, a few murder houses still standing - Villisca axe, Chris Watts house (recently sold to a family), the Clutter family farm house, Lizzie Borden house, White House Farm murders, The Gonzales Home, The Lin Family House, The Moorhouse Murders, Manrique-Lutz Family House.
When I was on vacation I visited the house where Betty Broderick killed Dan Broderick and his new wife Linda, and I actually spoke with the owner at the time who was trying to sell and said "true crime tourists" were making it difficult, and I felt like shit. These people did nothing but buy a home, and people like me made it hard for them! Ever since that experience, I have been absolutely against visiting true crime scenes. I live close to where Chris Watts killed Shanann, Bella, Celeste, and Nico Watts, and I would never dream of going to lurk around a house where a man killed his pregnant wife, loaded her body up in his truck (the same truck he killed his daughters in), drove off to bury her body, kill his toddler daughters, and shove their little bodies inside giant vats of oil. It sounds crazy and entitled to do so, and that's because it is.
A pregnant wife was killed?! And the kids too?! Oh my! Why would the husband do that?! And I don't who these people are, but I wonder if Betty killed Dan and Linda because he married some else. All these murders are horrible and scary!
There is a new family living in the Watts former house. Already the new owners have been scruitinized for buying the home. Some people have accused them of buying the house for "internet fame". So I don't know how to feel because there are people whom buy these properties and pretty much use it to their own advantages.
Everyone knows the story of "The Amityville Horror", "The Amityville Murders", "The Amityville House", the number one Scariest Murder House That Actually Exist, Hollywood came knocking when they heard about it and that takes the top spot
We've driven by the Jon Benet Ramsey house a couple of times in Boulder. They planted a lot of trees and bushes in the front and it looks completely different since the front is basically covered with foliage minus the gate to walk into the driveway. When we drove by, we pulled over and looked at the house and we saw some cars doing the same thing. Such a sad story and idk if we will ever know who the true killer(s) was...
Why go there though? It's not like it was a happy incident to celebrate, a little girl DIED! The fact that you've done this multiple times is the sad part, like why disrupt the neighborhood and people who actually live there 😕?
I can't understand how this stupid house keeps making lists like this. It's not a "scary" story so much as it is seriously effed up. Never made any sense at all, and probably wouldn't have made as much news if it wasn't some little pageant cutie. Pretty sad
I always feel better when I see things like this happen in other Countries. At least America isn't the only place that has horribly disgusting people. Anybody else feel like that?
Curiosity question. If someone was murdered in a house, do you think it would increase or decrease the value? I bought my very first house in 2010. The husband died in the house in 2000. The wife died in the house in 2009. Both of natural causes. As a result I got the house for $30k less than the asking price. Because they died of natural causes it didn’t bother me but it did bother my parents. Had they been murdered or suicide it would have bothered me. So just curious, what is your take? Spooky coincidence. The closing date on the house was exactly 1 year after the wife died, which was also my birthday.
That' s a good question! I think there are ppl out there who would pay more because of what happened in the house/ who lived there but I think the value would decrease as in some of the houses on this list no one wanted to buy it, therefore I believe you could get quite a good deal!
For those who are horror movies fans would probably pay huge chunks bucks to buy it bc it used to be the home of some of the famous murders, murderers and serial killers
Across the street from me a guy named Stephen Mcgillberry (probably wrong spelling) killed his mom, step dad, sister, and 3yr old nephew with a baseball bat back in the day
Ahem. List comprises places still standing and that have not been torn down - the houses must be still standing. First up, the Dahmer house - apt long since torn down shortly after news of his crimes came to light. Um, hello??? Broad, highly malleable defnition.
“We won’t be including places that have been torn down, so they must still be standing” *THE VERY FIRST ONE* “…Dahmer’s old apartment building has since been tore down.” 🤔 EDIT: I didn’t finish watching that entry before pausing the video to shoot my mouth off. Sorry, WatchMojo.

The video cover freaked me out a bit but good video

I love the consistency of horror videos lately WatchMojo and I love the new logo❤
Yes, we drove by one of those abandoned houses, those abandoned houses had me feeling like they have horrifying backstories
How could you not list the VILLISCA AXE MURDER HOUSE?? I thought for sure Villisca would be 2 and Amityville 1. 🤔🤷🏻♂️
Or Lizzie Borden’s house
It would be so interesting to drive by some of these homes. I have a strange obsession with serial killers so seeing the actual homes would be fascinating

I know who you're talking about in the first and second sentence. It's horrible how she was killed! I found a video about that! Shame on her father!

kinda surprised you didn't include the labianca house, which is still standing in Los feliz.
Had to look this one up, but the killer, Albert Fish, his house is still standing. The song "Secret of Wysteria" is about him and his crimes. Also the Lindsay Borden House should still be standing to my knowledge.
The Lizzie Borden House is still standing. It is a B&B with ghost tours available.
The Montreal apartment where Luka Magnotta filmed the infamous"1 lunatic 1 ice pick" video still exists.
They relocated and redid the entire house in Toms River, NJ. I passed it all the time and its so pretty now
Nothing is scarier than my house, once the garage door open me and my sisters would rush and try to do all the chores we were supposed to do.
Interesting the Lizzy Borden House didn’t make the list. It still stands in mostly original condition in New Bedford, MA. It’s a B & B so stay at your own risk! Hear it’s quite haunted!
Ya that was the first house I thought of when I saw the video title. Shocked it didn't even get a mention
Its in Fall River, about a 15 minute drive from New Bedford
This case is one of the most interesting murder cases to me so I might have to visit the house didn't know it was an B & B
All I saw were the words SCARY and MURDER and I clicked. I have always been invested in True Crime.
one house that was the site of a murder that is still standing that wasn't mentioned in this list is the Benoit house in Fayetteville, GA, home of the biggest tragedy in pro wrestling history, the double murder suicide of the Benoit Family in June 2007 where former WWE & WCW World Champion Chris Benoit killed his wife Nancy and son Daniel before he took his own life. this tragedy was a moment that changed pro wrestling forever but the home where the tragedy occurred is still standing today.
I was honestly expecting dorothea Puente as the number 1 but rightfully so since Amityville is more popular
It's scary that people were killed in these houses! Why would all these killers do that to their victims?! Some of these victims got killed at a very young age! God bless all the victims.🙏
You should do Sam and Colby's scariest paranormal moments in my opinion

Awesome list happy Halloween 🎃 🧡🖤😈
The Wonderland Murder house is a great one as well.
Rest In Peace to those that passed away.
@WatchMojo - you guys should do a part 2, a few murder houses still standing - Villisca axe, Chris Watts house (recently sold to a family), the Clutter family farm house, Lizzie Borden house,
White House Farm murders, The Gonzales Home, The Lin Family House, The Moorhouse Murders, Manrique-Lutz Family House.
I nearly forgot - the Dupont de Ligonnès Family house is still standing too I think

@carolyncruz9529 True they could use it to their advanrage or they could of got a great deal because of the murders in the house.

This video made me realise that I know very little of what actually happened.
The Lutz's story about what happened has been debunked by the Lutz family themselves and their lawyer
As someone from Edmonton, I was surprised to see this house on the list.
The Lizzie Borden house is still there as well
She was innocent
@@JinxMarie1985People were murdered in her house so what your views/beliefs are are irrevelant!!! It counts
These murder houses should actually be a horror attraction!😈
Extremely disrespectful? Yes.
Would I buy a ticket? Yes.
I'm pretty sure the Clutter house is still standing in Kansas.
I lived near Indianapolis in Whitestown years ago and heard about Foxhollow Farm. Never been there, but heard all about it

No thanks, I would never live in a place murder happened. My mind might play a trick on me
