By far the best and most energetic concerts I have been too. I saw then for 5 years in a row as well as the October 30th show which I found out later was video taped for a DVD. They are still by far my favorite band Stull.
Some rap songs also get into dark lyrics but what I love about Oingo Boingo is the fact that they can look at dark themes with a sense of humor. one of my favorite lines is from “it only makes me laugh” from So-lo, “…Darkness can never last too long when you laugh in its face”
Totally! or "I looked Death in the face last night I saw him in a mirror And he simply smiled He told me not to worry He told me just to take my time." Is another good one.
I can attest to hearing loss with playing in a band. Its real. I remember coming home after a gig, laying in bed with my ears ringing and hissing! Excellent video!
One of my favourite bands @ the time. Mother referred to them as Ingy Bingy, not knowing one note, let alone their incredible contribution to the world of music...
Loved these guys and heard them play often in LA. Their first Halloween show at the Santa Monica Civic (1980?) was one of their best ever. Great memories!
So thanks for making this because most people my age aren't familiar with them unless they have seen and you can walk them through weird science. Or try to explain that the guy that made their beloved soundtracks was the leader of an incredible band
@@OingoBoingoTapes from my understanding they couldn't release anything as Oingo Boingo due to contract legalities with A&M so instead of waiting and holding on to the material to eventually release as Oingo Boingo they just put it out as a solo album with MCA. Although it does have a more commercial sound, I think it's clearly an Oingo Boingo album. It is similar sounding to Dead Man's Party in that it is more polished and pop oriented. Clearly the direction Elfman wanted to go in.
This was really good. I think part of the name changes and some of the releases were due to issues with the original records label and contract so they had to release as a different entity so the rights to the music weren't owned by the former label...? Also... Im 32 now. I grew up on elfman scored films but missed any chance at seeing them. The live dvd which last I checked is out of print and expensive as shit... I used to watch my stepdads copy everyday of summer full blast on their rent a center entertainment system some sony 5.1 thx like the dvd was mastered for ....on repeat until my parents came home. They were incredible. One of a kind.
That dude just looks a weird opinionated creep lol. No wonder I've been so repelled to NOT listen to this band. I can't/won't fully support any band/artist if they're not entirely a well rounded person/group, and that Danny guy gives me off vibes

Wow! So lucky!
No one lives forever was also used in a film - The texas chainsaw massacre 2
I was there at universal on their farewell show. It was fkn Amazing!
@RastaMasa LUCKY! There's so much energy just listening to it, I can't even imagine what it was like actually being there!

I've known about these guys since the 80's but am just discovering them. Pretty good 😮
Totally! There's a big library to explore! Enjoy!
Great work dude!
Thank you!

Thanks! Totally! Ear protection is so important if you do any live entertainment.

I love Ingy Bingy, that will be what they will always be to me from now on.
@@MattTalksVinylLOL! Its really great to rediscover them here.
Not a word about the half hour video the Mystic Knights did that I've seen exactly once - on channel 58 in Los Angeles - and never since.
I saw boingo 3 times. Awesome live 👏

Thank you for watching! I love sharing incredible music.
elfman didn’t put out a solo album there was a problem with the label so their 4th album had to put it out under danny elfman
Interesting! It's crazy what record companies make bands do.
@@OingoBoingoTapes not to mention "Gratitude" and "It Only Makes me Laugh" became live Boingo staples.

And DANNY ELFMAN THEN PLAYED FREAKING COACHELLA AND FUCKING DID THE COOLEST SHIT EVER
lol totally! I hope they release his performance officially on Vinyl

Absolutely! Thank you! I love introducing people to their work. They have a song for everyone to enjoy.
You can see former members of oingo boingo play in Salt Lake City in December 2022 or wherever near you.
Wonder what he will be giving us at Coachella 2022
Hope it happens and if it does I'm sure it'll be great
Still a great band.
Always!
Buddy Hackett was one the Hollywood greats.
Good video man
Thank you!

I don't like Danny's politics, but always loved their music.

fuck you
Have you done one on The Cars or Missing Persons?
This is my only one at the moment. I've considered doing more though!
@@MattTalksVinyl I'd really enjoy seeing one or both. But you've gained a sub anyway...
That was incredibly brief, might’ve liked some elaboration. Nevertheless, kudos for whizzing through it all. Thanks!
Thank you for watching! Totally my intention! I could go for hours on Boingo!
I saw Oingo Boingo play in Davis, CA. 1986 Didn't Elman produce the Simpsons theme song?
Cool! And yes he did!
Work on your narration, i can't understand the second half of your sentences.
JOYPAD Retrogaming sounds more like a you problem not having any trouble here
Sorry didn’t mean for that to sound so adversarial. Just that I can understand him fine.
