I was number 1 that night. Great to see the video. Nice meeting all of yall. It was a blast for sure!!
It was great to meet you! Hope you’re enjoying the new bottle!
How it works? If you are the first one, what are your limitations? You can get 1 bottle of each from the top shelf or more?
The dude offering $200 to the guy in front of him for the van winkle right in front of the store owner is the reason a lot of stores charge secondary. I witnessed this 1st hand at a store in my area. We had a store sell everything at msrp until this exact scenario happen. Safe to say he doesn't anymore.
Yeah you don’t do that with the owner right there. The owner himself could be charging more and he does that to somebody in line to get it at MSRP.
Well he offered $200 not to get the bottle so he could buy it. It’s not like he was offering to buy it from the guy.
That is unfortunate. 🥃 Hopefully things get better for ya!
That's stupid. Why not offer the guy more? Why do you care? You already made your money greedy fuck. Dude that offered more is probably gonna drink it. Just wasn't in the cards cause of your stupid allocated distribution system
The whole bourbon scene is a bunch of Hypebeasts, which inflate prices, and secondary is insane. It's a joke anymore. Period.
You’re a better man than me. He was deliberating on the CH. I would have convinced him to get something else so I could get it since he was on the fence 😂
😂
"Yeah that Coy Hill is good with Coke, I guess.... But look over here!"
still hearing the heart release this year was better than the cellar release from many bourbon heads. gone through 2 bottles myself
I am a huge fan of the heart release. Surprised how good it was honestly!
That’s awesome! Seems like a great store. I’m going to have to get my friend in Mt. Pleasant to go check it out. I can’t find crap here in West Virginia. Sometimes I luck up at the Virginia ABC stores. But it is extremely frustrating that if there’s something I want to get, I’m looking at secondary prices.
Russ 15 is getting up there to legendary status. It took me 6 months to find one and paid little over retail 300$, I would pick that over the other 4 at the end.
That's awesome you found one!
300$? What country did you find it in where the dollar sign goes after the number? 😂
@@BuckMcAntlerson it's a bad habit lol when im typing
This is why old forrester is best bang for my buck.
Would be more interesting to have everyone pick a number, then do a number randomizer to select the order. That way it's much more random and fair.
Solid bottles
Hope you enjoy it bro
It’s so damn exciting going to the drops
🎉
It’s always a blast!
Hey Hunter seem like a good time ... Nice score for you Thanks
Thanks for watching! 🥃
Nice choice and awesome ya got to slide up in line. I’ve never had any of the willet stuff, will get around to it one of these days. Cheers, Hunter.
Cheers! 🥃
This guy hunts bourbon! Ashton pulling the blade had me 😂
It wasn't me
Ashton is hilarious 😂
I wish more stores in Louisville did this. Instead, we have places that put one bottle out at a time on an “allocation table”.
same with Lexington!
That sounds frustrating. Hopefully, things will change!
I think allocation tables are fair. I also think straight up raffles are fair. But this raffle looks like, you had to have "points." Im sure that translates into cash spent with them. That is not fair. I call that "pay to play." I try to spend my money in all the retailers in my town so I can support all the businesses not just one. JMO
@@curtismansell5254 I completely agree with you. And I’m generally a fan of allocation tables, if they actually put out enough product to give people a chance to get a bottle they’re looking for. But only putting out one bottle at a time, and then telling customers you’ve run out when they ask about the tag on the table, only to then put another single bottle out after they leave, that’s what I don’t like.
@@NathanielSan I am not talking about drops. I know stores that put out what they get on the table when they get it. So if you happen to be the first person through the door on a random Tuesday, you get it. I think this is the fairest way to do it.
Man you put a lot of trust in that plastic bag coming out of the store. Congrats!
You know, that's a good point. I guess I was just excited to get out of there!
Bookers Reserve over That purple top
I have a bookers reserve! Love that bottle. Never seen a Willett 11 yr in person so had to snag one
Our local group did a purple top pick that was 11 year and 101 proof. It’s amazing. And $20 from every bottle went to a suicide prevention organization so really awesome
That sounds amazing! Glad to hear it went to a good cause.
When in doubt, always go with the lower bottle count. Cameron from Drums n Drams speaks highly about low bottle counts.
Never knew that!
Was happy to get the Russells 15 at a great price. Creekville is a great store!
Creekville is definitely one of the best!
Wish we had these in michigan, The few I've been too were crazy prices worse than secondary 😕 Cheers 👍💯🥃
That's a bummer! We get lucky with a few stores in SC that do this!
Wow, congrats on that!
Thanks for watching! 🥃
great video my guy!!!
Appreciate you watching!
Love the 2024. I like it a little more than the 23
Agreed 100%
Awesome video, amazing store!
Glad you liked it!
Lmao, the dude with the glasses tried to smoothly claim the first pick and then got 19.
Mang i wish norcal like that too. But everything is over priced… jack coyhill out here $400 the phuc!!! Omg those pappys must be nice…
Was buffalo trace allocated there? If so wow, because it is in every grocery store and walmarts here in Arizona for $23 dollars.I have never seen it not be right next to the Wild Turkeys and Jack Daniels and what nots on every store shelf.
That Fortaleza extra strength is goated! Im in connecticut and havent seen it in nearly a year here
Its so good! We get a good bit of Forteleza down here!
Cellar Aged is way cheaper in Sydney Duty Free if you get a chance. Circa $140 USD on conversion and quite available both 2023 and 2024 at the moment.
$89.99 for an Eagle rare store pick worth it? Guy at local liquor store didn’t have an open bottle and he didn’t know who picked the barrel so I was hesitant to pick it up, opinions?
It’s like draft day for bourbon
Right! 😂
MMCA or OF10. Great problem to have picking between the two. Congrats on the MMCA- I’m sure by now you know it’s great. Couldn’t go wrong either way!
Its much better than the MMCA 2023!
So do you have to have the points to purchase on allocation day and also get lucky with your spot ??
Good choice on the MMCA - the OF10 is my least favorite of the 6 different decanters I've tried, including the OF8!
Thank you for watching! 🥃
I got a ORVW for 108 and a Lot B for $120 at Walmart.
Decent prices on that Fortaleza! Harder & harder to find....Nice to see.
Its getting much harder to find but a great bottle as always! Thank you for watching!
Is this a Coy Hill for 80$ on the top shelf?
I wouldn’t dog that Penelope 9 year. That’s an incredible pour for under $100
Nice pickups
Thank you for watching! Cheers! 🫡
So jealous I am searching for fortaleza anejo and repo like crazy.
I've never had it, but there's no way that purple top Willett is worth $400.
I’d say you’re right. I would say the flavor is close to a 9.5-9.7 / 10 but no way that justifies that kind of price tag
Illinois sucks. I’m not aware of any raffles like these in my area. I’ve gone to Indiana raffles, but have yet to win anything good. Enjoy!
You could have just stopped at "Illinois sucks".
@@24roughing76 😂
Cant believe you spent 400 on an 11 year lmao
Most places, its closer to 500. So that is a deal.
Dropping $600 like it’s nothing
I wouldn't trust a plastic bag with $400 bottles! I lost a 4R SiB 100 through one once.
That's a good point! I was just excited to get out of there! Next time i’ll pay more attention
True blue Tater there
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
📈🤝
That 4 roses is terrible...
Bold statement but thats why bourbon is awesome everybody has different palates!
I need to replace my decadence - damn good bottle
Love me some WJ Decadence
So explain the points. Do you have to have already spent money to even be able to participate?
Its a yearly total on purchases. $1=10 points I had a lot saved up after buying all the store picks throughout the year!
So did you have to buy that other bottle as well ?or could you have just bought one ? That’s a lot of coin to drop for bottles …
Nothing was required!
Neeed those !
I neeeeeeeeeed it!!! (SpongeBob meme)
What’s with the finger and the knife?
Just a bunch of dudes joking around nothing too serious
What all of those points mean? 5000 or 7500? Like air miles?
$1 = 10 points spent in store throughout the year!
@@Bourbon_Hunter What is the etiquette of you if you are #1 in a line? You grab whatever bottles from the A? Or you play gentleman and take 1 or 2?
I thought you ended up being the 8th spot after someone left. What happened?
I miss counted
You took a MMCA over a old fitz 🤦🏼♂️😂
Everybody has their preference!
Pretty sad, tbh. lol
Could you have bought more than two bottle off that rack?
Yes! How ever many rewards points you own! I had quite a few but not the budget
@ ohhh okay! And how does their reward point system work? like how many points do you get for spending $100?
So it is 10 points for every dollar spent. The store has great store picks and other bottles on the main shelf. The points can be saved up all year for this event. For example I had roughly 20k points which means I spent $2,000 at the store throughout the year on Bourbon, High Noon’s, Tequila, Rum, etc…
@ that’s actually not bad. I wish I lived in estate that had stores near me that did this kind of stuff. I live in Pennsylvania and it is so hard to pick up allocated stuff. I have better luck driving an hour to Ohio.
I don’t know what it is but opened my old fitz 10 year and sad to say I’m not a fan of
No way!!!!! I need to get one at MSRP and try it
$409 mmmmm easy pass
Trump tariffs going to help bourbon prices
Some guys are so immature on video!
Nice
Thank you for watching!
