Hi , I'm a newbie here and I don't know what are decoupage napkins nor where to get them. I loved ❤ watching your video and the final look and I thought to give it a try . Thanks for sharing this video with us !
Hi! The good news is that any napkin will work. Most napkins have 2-3 layers (plies) that you will peel apart to use only the patterned layer. I hope this helps. Have fun!
Thank you, Andrea! I have used matte Mod Podge in the past to give it a more finished look. I’ve seen others recommend a varnish or clay sealer too. I like the matte formula of Mod Podge because I use it a lot for crafting and it’s not too shiny.
You could try using an acrylic sealer. There are some that have more weather resistance. You can check the label to see. It will just be more difficult to prevent the pot from developing stains if it gets a lot of direct sun and rain.
Hi Crissy, So happy I discovered your channel today. I have so many terra cotta pots that I have always wanted to decorate. I will be trying the decoupage project soon. Just subbed today as well. (Darci)
Hello, Darci! Thanks for watching! I don't know why I didn't try painting these pots sooner. I love the difference it made on my outdoor patio. Let me know how it goes with yours, and have fun!
hi darling. You did an amazing job, love how the pot turned out, amazing tips on plastic wrap and omg I cant believe how the napkin looks on the pot. No way I was going to guess that it was a napkin. Gorgeous. Enjoyed watching. Coming from playlist. Thank you so much for sharing.
Hi dear! Thanks so much for watching and especially for your sweet comment! I'm glad you liked the way the pots turned out and hope you'll try it sometime. 😊❤️
Hi Crissy, I'm new to your channel and new to decoupaging. I would like to know why didn't you just use the Mod Podge Outdoor from the start? Thank you.
Hello Sgt Friday! Great question. I use regular Mod Podge Matte to attach the napkin because it is a thinner formula. Mod Podge Outdoor is quite thick, so I only use it as a sealer. I think the matte formula gives a smoother finish. Hope that helps!
Hello. I always suggest placing it on a covered patio away from direct sunlight and rain. I have mine outside at the edge of a covered patio, and they still look great. They might get a little rustic looking, but I think that adds to the charm. I try not to let them sit in water too. Hope that helps!
Hi Christie, I’m new here from the DIY challenge. I love pots and flowers so your project intrigued me. It turned out so nice. I just might give this a try. My project was a flower box but I’m loving this painted pot! New subbie here. This decoupage project turned out absolutely amazing. I was surprised you worked with some pots with the plants in them. The stacked tower was so creative. I will definitely try something like this. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, Denise! I look forward to checking out your post, too! It's been so fun making new friends through the challenge. Yes, it's a little silly that I worked with one pot that already had a plant. I really should've taken the plant out, but I was taking a little shortcut. Ha!
Why can’t you just spray it with an outdoor waterproof spray coat afterwards? Pots look lovely tho! How about a video on transforming plastic pots- especially the rim???
Sure, I don’t see why you can’t try that. Maybe I should do a comparison to see how it turns out. I love the idea of transforming plastic pots! I’ll try to include that in my future outdoor DIY videos. Stay tuned!
@@FirstDayofHome i have been trying to use self drying clay to create a lip so it will look ceramic when i paint it instead of a cheap plastic pot with no rim. But it hasn’t been too successful yet 😂 I need some kind of flexible cord or hose to wrap over the top i think. But i haven’t found the right material yet.
Ahh, I see. That’s an interesting challenge. I’ll have to give this some thought! I usually just upgrade terracotta pots, but I’m going to see what I can do with plastic now…
@historylover9890 Oh, I see. I don’t have a course right now, but I have lots of inspiration on my blog: www.firstdayofhome.com. If you search for “pots” you’ll find several articles with pot decorating ideas and tutorials.
I really appreciate watching you put thr napkins on an angle! I had a hard time last year with bunnies! Thank you! Just beautiful!
I’m glad it was helpful! I hope you have what you need to tackle the next project. Thanks for watching!❤️

Yay! I’m so glad, Kathy! They add some sunshine to my patio. I hope they make you happy too. 😊

Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad to meet some fellow DIY-ers through this challenge. Loved your garden tour as well.
So amazing , the decoupaged pots will last will outside?
Thank you! I always recommend keeping them in a covered patio area since they are water resistant but not waterproof.
Excellent. This helps me very much. What do you think about matte finishing varnish? Thank you!

The pots turned out stunning and do not look like u just used napkins. So super cute and I love your plastic wrap technique. xoxoNadia💋

So the clay pot sealer, you said to apply on the inside of the pot but your brushing the outside of the pot. Do I apply on the outside?
You apply it to the inside to prevent moisture from seeping through the sides of the pot.
can this method be used for pots that will go outdoors with plants inside?

Hello do you offer online classes
Hello. I have taught a few online classes but mainly for the Cricut machine. Were you interested in a specific topic?
@@FirstDayofHome I want to start my own custom plant pots studio from home.
So was hoping to learn from You.

Why are you decoupaging the pot with a plant inside it?
Definitely not ideal, but I didn’t want to repot. I’d normally start with an empty pot. 👍🏼
