I love the test rides at the end.
Crazy how a 5 dollar part installed incorrectly leads to a 1500 dollar problem . Nice work and very informative.
I love to see that you like to do things professionally and properly !! Doing it right the first time
I just traded a polaris for a honda rancher 350. Changed the oil today and found the same thing. Oil filter was on backwards. Thankfully i caught it before it blew.
Good thing you changed the oil and caught that!
Check out every fluid and capacities.
I love the test rides at the end. awesome videos, keep the coming! Thanks Rock
I’ll keep that in mind, looks like a few others do as well! They’ll be a test ride video on this one.
I agree with you, I would have bored it 10 over and let it fly. But, like you always say”Thats what the customer wants”
FTR: I look forward to the test drives through the loop. That loop is awesome!
Test rides are the best part!
I love the test rides at the end. Keep up the good work we’ll see you on the next one.
Nice job.
I would have listened to you and just done a rebore and piston. It would have been fine. Especially with so little use.
Great video! I have no issue with the test driving at the end. I watch the whole video! Keep up the good work!
Thanks for watching the whole thing! I’ll keep doing test rides.
@@rockspowersports great! Crazy how people will watch the video and then click off and not watch how the atv or whatever performs!
Long time watcher here done many of rebuilds myself and i reall do enjoy your videos almost like im watching myself in depth enough to do it right the first time but not at dealership.cost
Thank man, Glad you enjoy the videos!
Great video! Always enjoy the test rides also but either way really enjoy your content! Thanks man.
Thanks glad to hear that!
Its so interesting its pushrod and aircooled, keep that engine height low and total reliability I guess! All OEM parts, ooh laalaa!! 150 hard plowing miles, does look mint though, nice job!
Our 2005 Honda foreman 500ES 4x4 could awake the dead with the noise it makes 😂😂
But she’s still running!
@@rockspowersports that is true, also the oil consumption/leaking is worse than the fuel consumption 😂😂😂
Bought a blown honda xr650l a couple years ago and that's why it was blown. Busted piston skirts and burnt up top end. Amazing someone can change oil and pay no attention to how filter comes out
I need to bring you my 07 680 it needs rebuilt and I want you to do it! I love your videos keep up the work!!
Sounds good to me, just reach out when you want to get it done.
Thanks
@ it will be a drive for me but I’d be happy to let you do it ! I’m in north GA but idc I don’t trust anybody around me to work on it
Yep I've heard of this many times
Same as "Mustie 1" on his channel someone put the filter in backwards, pretty common thing, what an easy top end to do cheers.
Ah. Yes... That would be where I learnt that from. I couldn't quite figure out why I knew backwards oil filters were an issue to watch for.
Amazing work well done
Stayed for the whole video✌️
I already know what is wrong with this before you even tell us I might be wrong but my guess is he put the oil filter in backwards
You got it right!
@@rockspowersportsfamily member did this when I was a kid on our Honda 300 4x4. Oem Honda filters were labelled this side in and this side out. Aftermarket filters didn’t say that.
I worked on an 86 big red where the previous owner had put the filter in backwards. The head, cam and head cover was destroyed because there was no oil getting to the top end. The piston and cylinder were still good because they were still getting oiled from below. Luckily we had a spare 86 engine to rob parts from.
Howdy duty rock I missed ya upload today anywho I’m here I’m sure its gonna be a great video like always have a great night.
Nicely DONE ✅
right off the bat, b4 you even got barely into the story on this atv..I KNEW RIGHT AWAY...THE OIL FILTER WAS INSTALLED BACKWARDS !..LOL.
Customer knows everything ! lol. He must not know how small .020” is!
Lack of lubrication made the rockers very hard to move. This beat the end of the pushrod up and shortened it. That’s why he had to “adjust” the valves so far because the pushrod was too short.
At least it’s not a OHC engine. Our 300 fourtrax when oil filter was installed like this, took out the head, cam, piston etc.
Ouch!
@@rockspowersports we were just kids with no money too! Great video, enjoy them
Love the videos rock- could the previous owner have been 180 out when he adjusted the valves?
Still watching the video but thats what came to me when you said that- sure enough thats also what you thought- back to the video!
Glad to hear it! If they adjusted it when it was 180 out it would be more of a gap when it was actually on TDC. So I don’t think that is what caused the miss adjustment
Honda reliability sure has gone down back in my day we used to drill holes in the oil pan and the block to reduce weight My 1890 Rincon 300 looks like a piece of Swiss cheese hasn't had oil in it for a hundred years and still runs like a top 😤
😂
@@rockspowersportsis there anyway I can msg you somewhere about an issue I have with a 08 arctic cat 700 efi.
@@bigcaseyball1post it here i've got a similar machine (king quad 700) with same engine
@@DColl136 it’s bearly spraying fuel through the injector unless I tie into the blue wire on the injector an run it to ground then the injector will open up and send more fuel through with blue wire ran to ground. I have videos of it
Ouch
Hey Rock… watching u from Nova Scotia … great job on the Honda … what is your opinion of the Wolverine 850? … I’m looking at a couple of low mileage machines. Any weaknesses that I should be looking at? My 99 KVF 400 has taken its final breath time for a new toy.
Thanks Scott! I don’t have much experience with the Wolverine 850, the only thing I’ve heard is some of the early year models could have some valve issues but would happen at really low hours if it did have issues. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help, they are nice machines and very quiet.
Always line up all ring grooves
Had a 2011 Rubicon identical to your foreman there did not know they had power steering also
I got an 08 foreman 500 that has 530 miles and was garage kept and I got it for $500 and I built it into a mud bike
Wow! That was a steal at $500 for a 500 mile foreman.
@@rockspowersports yes sat for 10 years needed a key switch and a carburetor rebuild
@@rockspowersports love your videos too they are very helpful
Surprised you didn't verify ring gap before installing
Hi, From Milton Vermont
Hey Chris thanks for watching!
great job
Did you have to use a ring compressor to get the piston in the cylinder.
Too bad it was put in backwards. 😮
Sorry but the owner putting in the filter backwards......dddddddaaaaaaaaaaaaaa....im stupid .Work on the valves with a sledge hammer. Yeah...thats how you do it.!!!
Some test driving is ok.
Usually it gets everything on the top.brother did his so I've been through it
Nice job!
You ever rebuild 2010 kawasaki mule?
Thanks and no I haven’t had the opportunity to rebuild a mule yet
I would love to give you the opportunity, but It be hard to drop by Vermont from Louisiana lol
Comment now ill watch as mush as I can befor work and comment when done
Sounds good! Thanks
Did anyone see the broken rocker arm when he had it in his hand. Probably how the push rod wore out!
Hey Rock....what do we put in the gas tank.?...fuel oil or gravy. Daaaaaaa. Can i ride this under water..?
Hey idk if you reply to comments, but I have a raptor 660 the piston doesn't go all the way up and when I tried to push start, it just made clunking noises, I still could here the piston hit something ontop, it could be the bottom end or that's what I've been told
It only turns like a inch or two then it gets stuck halfways up
Yikes!
Hey Rock can you fixs my daughter 1995 Polaris Trail Boss 250 4X4 Would not idle? I am on the East Coast
Probably just need to play around with idle screws
@kollinspencer847 thanks this Guy Rebuilt the Carburetor and it's still not idle, Keep shutting off.
Unfortunately with those old 2 stroke engines a lot of times the crankshaft seal will start to leak and cause a lean condition. This lean condition will cause idling issues.. I’m not saying that’s 100% the issue but it could be a good possibility. Are you in the area?
@rockspowersports Yess you are in Vermont?
I'm not saying that the current owner did it I am saying however that had I done that I would have just said I've never changed the oil it must have been the other guy too😂
Arkansas Arkansas Waven
Just kidding....lol
