- The Cars performing " Heartbeat City" live @ The Fox Theatre in Oakland CA on May 13, 2011. The Fox Theatre's website is www.thefoxoakland.com/. This is a great venue to see a show.
Will always love the Cars . Could never get sick of them . My only regret? Never seeing them live .
I heard Ric on a radio interview back in the late '80's, and the guy asked him what "music" meant to him. Ric said, "It takes you back to a time and a place in your life." I've been a Cars fan from the very beginning, and this song has a special place in my heart . Can't imagine life without "music". It's what keeps us alive and gets us through some hard times. Thank God for "The Cars !!". Some of the greatest music ever made !!.
i am your biggest fan ricky ocasek forever💓💞💕❤
i will always be your fan forever
I love heartbeat city live aid 85
Respect to Ric Ocasek and the Cars for not trying to replace the bass guitar and Ben Orr. Greg Hawkes would add in the bass notes on his mastery of the keyboards. Heartbeat City to me, will always be the most iconic song by the Cars. Ric was such a prolific songwriter and innovator when the MTV video age hit. So many have no idea how amazingly talented Ric was as a writer and producer. That entire band was very, very talented and never stepped on each other's shoes! RIP Ben Orr & Ric Ocasek 🙏🌟🎸🎹
Ric isn’t the only artist to forget lyrics or sing from words on a monitor. At least he was still performing and pleasing fans. Now, he’s gone on to meet up with Ben in a better place. 😢
I appreciate The Cars much more now than when i was listening to music in the 80s,Great group, great sound.
My favorite the cars song
One of my favourite "Cars" songs :)
The Cars Magistrales!!!
Some people on this page don't know what it's like to be a prolific songwriter. Or to get old.
Every Cars album and Ric Ocasek solo album has started with ~20 new songs, whittled down to 10 or 12, lots of leftovers, and Ric has never stopped writing new songs. He just throws the leftovers away. He wrote this song in 1984, if not earlier.
The man is currently 66. I'm only 44, and I've already learned how shockingly unreliable memory becomes with age. It isn't sad -- it's just _fucking inevitable._ It's going to happen to YOU, if you live long enough. Just hope that you do anything in your life that ANYBODY ELSE remembers.
Okay, shut the hell up, you don't know a fucking thing about anything except being a human toilet
44? you look 74
Benjamin Orr was 53, when he forgot to not let Pancreatic Cancer kill him. Try to not forget to try it, at Home!
MISSING BEN ORR ♥
ABsolutely luv the cars!
In March of 1984 You Might Think was playing on Mtv and i was hooked forever, The Cars was from that moment were my fav. band. They really impressed my 17 year old mind, they really helped me get through the rest of my teenage years, when things were going bad i could grab my Heartbeat City tape and go to a safe place. A big thank you to the Cars....you guys kept me sane during insane times.
beautiful song,....
What a masterpiece!
I love this song!!!!xxxx
Impecable The Cars a prueba del tiempo!!!
A PIECE OF ARTWORK PUT THIS INTO A MUSEUM FOR ALL FUTURE GENERATIONS.
This also sounds great on the live aid (1985) version. Ric is very tall!
I appreciate them again, Rick sounds so awesome they still have it!!
drewczu61....I love the cars..I was happy to see them live after not touring for 17 years. Im sure Rick forgot a few lyrics. The point is he's not lip syncing and they are performing again live finally. Lets just be happy with that :)
Great song ever, and to the end this guys are inmortal in r&roll Hall of fame

One of The Cars greatest songs !!. Glad to see them back together, with their "unique" style of music. Seems so strange, not seeing Ben up there with them. Thanks for posting !!. "Music", the soundtrack of our lives !!.

Pucha que estamos viejos....yo tambien😥😥😥
meeza lika dis.
Hawkes left out a very big feature of the intro.
I too, am a huge Cars fan, it saddens me to see Rick having a monitor, so he can read words that he has written. Did the song mean anything when he wrote it? Hell I remember word for word alotta things that I've said from my heart throughout my life.....
what year was this?
ghostt girl ghostt spook 2011
jeremykirkf thank you, it's sound's awesome!!
stage looks EMPTY without BENJAMIN!
I love the cars but this was lackluster:(
Sadly Rick looks like he doesn't want to be there
No one wants to be there when Ben Orr is not around...
Dont tell me Rick is readin the fu$%^n words off a prompter? WTF?
Angela Han is a troll and a mean person
wow he forgot the words of a big song he is reading off a computer. how sad
+indyguy331 -- Ric wrote this song in 1984 if not earlier, and he has written over 100 songs since then, easily. He's had seven solo albums since then. He's more than entitled to forget the lyrics to a 30-year-old song. Not at all sad.
