Whomever they bring in to sing this song should acknowledge the brilliant performance of Merry Clayton on the original recording.
Love you Mary!
@@sallythurston5780she was the absolute best. Watch movie 20 Feet from Stardom
Mary Claton was not the original...Emeretta Marks is the actual back up singer ( she was nevr paid the promised 200 dollars...
Me cluts thought it was Lisa Fischer!
@@greydinimagicman Sorry but it WAS Merry. THey called her out of bed at night in Los Angeles to do this cold and she suffered a miscarriage the next day. Its covered in the movie 30 Steps from Stardom. Ms. Marks claimed to be the creator of the introduction to The Rolling Stones' "Gimme Shelter," but this claim has been questioned as several other vocalists have made similar statements and the original paper trail was destroyed.
Nobody can sing this song like Merry Clayton. She is the original voice. I get chills listening to her.
Of course, Merry has to be given just recognition and loyalty as the original, Chanelle comes along and knocks it out of the park also. Under the same circumstance, none the less. Chanelle was so nervous the first time she was asked to sing in Milan, that she and Merry spoke. Merry said, "You can do it, you got the Gospel in you, girl." The rest is history.
Yes! But it still must be a helluva honor to be asked to try.
Lisa Fischer was AMAZING also!! Dont forget about her. She sang with The Stones for many years. It's only Rock n Roll, but I like it. Yes I do!!!! ✌️💙🤘
@@CyndyGough54 Absolutely! Didn't mean to leave her out.
With a world full of pitch transposer/Vocoder 'flippy-tippy-tango-changos'
along come Jagger & Richards rollin' in with one helluva a sweet surprise.
@vasilii6417 you are spot on! Chanelle replicates the haunting melodies!
Chanelle displays deep yearning which exudes from every note she sings,
resonating in her body language and facial expressions. A deep desire for
connection emanates from her very being. While walking with Mick Jagger,
they provide hope where physical affection has a chance to blossom to love
triumphing abandonment, to secure lasting shelter in life's turbulent storm.
How absolutely amazing is Mick. Most men his age are either dead or having dinner at 5, bed at 8. Best front man for over 6 decades!

Gimme Shelter, is a musical masterpiece. It's a work of art 🎨. They were way before their time on this song. Keep rockin and rolling boys. Mick is commanding the stage and a 1st class frontman. Ty,for 62yrs of bad ass rock and roll. You made my youth, and teenage years and adult years amazing through your songs.
Really liked what u said ; I totally agree. There music as been been part of my life, had the thrill of seeing them 3x
In fact I played Beggars Banquet today. 🎶
The Vietnam War was going on at the time, so they really weren't ahead of their times.
You don't see it as relevant today? Hello Ukraine, Gaza, you and many others don't count to some people. Mick doesn't mention Vietnam, or Cambodia, or Laos, or Myanmar, all were aflame at the time .. hence the song is as timeless as the theme
Yes,I do and I know what is going on in the world most definitely, I'm praying all the time.@@johnhiggins7530

Time has been a good friend to Mick Jagger. May he live a long, healthy, and happy life. God bless.
I think he also works like a dog to stay fit. Running, yoga, he's amazing.
Amen. Happy 81 to Mick!
Time is on his side 😊
Vibes of Tina Turner right there🔥
100% Tina , she is and was the queen of Rock n roll and soul ❤
Exactly what I thought when I saw them in Glendale.
@benjaminsarconi5722 I think she made a great impact on Jagger, that has never left him.
Looks maybe both Black she aint no Merry Clayton!
Spot on bro.
For Decades now YOU HAVE ROCKED ME THROUGHOUT MY LIFE. God blesses artists as they provide mankind expression of the SOUL💯
Damn she is fantastic. Love the dress and the slinky entrance. Perfection in motion.

My favorite Stones song! I've been lucky enough to see them twice!
Thanks for the great closeup of Keith during the intro…he’s still got it! ❤🔥🎶👍🎸
Well, he's probably got more than any other 80 year-old guitar player, at least.
the Rolling Stones ...on tour since 1964... match that brother !!!
Her passion and intensity just blow me away! The fact that she's drop dead gorgeous doesn't hurt either! :)

Live in the moment. Hit the pause button and be grateful that you got to experience the Stones.
Seen this in Chicago both nights! Seen them 12 throw at this show and my 23rd time seeing the Stones. Amazing show! As good as they were, if not better the first time I seen them on Steel Wheels in 1989!
1st seen them in Auckland New Zealand at Western Springs 1973
People who have never been to a Rolling Stones concert dont understand, its more like a religous exerience than just any old plain rock and roll show.

There might be a few who are "technically" better, but Keith is nonetheless the greatest rock guitarist in the world.
@@alkholos you wrote just, exactly, what my thoughts are too.

One of the greatest classics... ever !
I didn't say anything about the current singer. She is very good. But what Merry Clayton did that day can never be repeated. Sorry if I offended you but I stand by what I said.
Everyone has opinions. She's a very good singer. She came as close to anyone to the original singer. But no one else could ever get those high notes at the end of the vocal. No one in 55 years did what Merry Clayton did with her voice that day in the studio. I respect the woman who sang. She has a great voice. But again, that vocal will never be duplicated. That day in the studio with Merry singing with the Stones in the studio, lightning struck, everything went perfectly. It was and always will be a gem of a recording.
Respetable tu opinion, pero para mi la mejor version es y sera con lisa fisher
@@gerardogarciarosano1564
I agree...nothing will ever top the original. Tons of respect for all of the women who have sung this with them since it's release. There is just something so visceral in the original...no one will ever be able to top it.

I think they got Merry out of bed in the middle of the night to lay down her track.
I love what she's done with this song
Yes,Chanel Haynes.

AMAZING HISTORICAL BAND. NOTHING ELSE LIKE THEM IN SO MANY DIFFERENT ASPECTS OF MUSIC. THE STONES SHOW LEADERSHIP AND PAVED THE WAY FOR 🎸
And they always put on a great show , from the 70s all the way through to now . And Mick's generosity encouraging the vocalist to share the stage , pure class , all of them .
Then, the Golden Goddess struts out ! WOW !
I predict this band will be a huge success!
@1twistedcpl6575 like a snowball...they just need a little push, and they'll be HUGE!
THE, BEST STONES SONG, EVER ‼️🎸
Yes totally agree. 2nd BEST SONG EVER is CAN'T YOU HEAR ME KNOCKING!! I've been into The Stones with a Passion since 1969 !!

Awesome
THEY ARE AWESOME !!!
Released 1969, got it for a gift on my 16th birthday! What a surprise that was! Wore it out so many plays!
Ron Wood is great , but, wish Mick Taylor could be there just one more time.
Thank you old men for your music sent to the world
The "background singer's" body language toward Mick reminds me of how my daughter looks at me when we're climbing a steep hiking trail together. Don't push too hard old man, I'll be there to catch you if something goes wrong.
😂😂😂😂
She bows to Keith. Near 6:30, they all seem to respect each other.
This woman is the greatest singer I have seen with Mick on this song. With all due respect to the other wonderful ladies he has had. But she is superb!!!!!
with Mick yes but can I direct you to Rockwiz cover with Vika Bull
Maybe because you have never heard Lisa Fisher..😅
Reminds me of a young Tina Tuner👍✌️😎
@@lorijackson3905 she has been portraying Tina Turner since 2021 in the Tina Turner musical. That's why she sings and acts like her. Then the Stones grabbed her for their Milan concert in 2022 as Sasha Allen was not available. Chanel was kicked out of the musical because of that. Then for this last tour she has become a permament feature of the Stones' concerts. I find her just ok, light years from Lisa Fisher.
@giorgioiaksetich8455 Cool, I didn't know that.Definitely like Lisa Fisher👍✌️😎
Yeah, Kieth is playing and I hear Chantel singing. Go girl!! Absolutely great vocals.
Chanel Haynes is the bomb!!!!!!!!!!
Plus de 60 ans de carrière et toujours au top, merci aux Stones de nous accompagner chaque jour !

Saw them in Atlanta 🤘 this was one of the best songs of the night
The Stones were an amazing rock and roll band for 60 years however what I see here would never justify hundreds of dollars for a ticket too a show that definitely needs retiring. Just a sad picture of their former selves.
Does anybody think she looks and reminds you of a young Tina Turner?
Sorry, I’ve heard better.
Mick is just an uncrowned King. Dude rules this earth.
Он коронованный король рока.
Looks like a mix of Tina Turner and Beyoncé
Unfassbar... Wahnsinn..... Diese Stones meiner Jungend.... Jetzt bin ich ein alter Mann und diese verrückten rocken immer noch sooooooo gut.... War fast 40mal live dabei.... Freu mich auf nächstes Jahr Deutschland..... Mick fast 81 unfassbar was er macht... ❤❤❤
I miss Lisa🙁
Cool to see this. But can all appreciate the genius of Charlie Watts? I miss how Charlie played this with his inimitable style. RIP
It is an absolute joy to watch Keith and Ronnie do their thing.
Really ? Ronnie is such a fkn hack. Compare him to Mick Taylor or Brian ! ! ! No comparison. Ronnie the hack.
The whole band are sounding good on this! And at 68 I'm taking Mick as my role model, I hope I'm in as good shape as he is at 80!!
Pretty soon Mick will be twice Elvis's age 😮
One of my favorite songs at all. Thank you Rolling Stones 👍😊🥰
They are sad crap now, Jagger lost the voice drive, so snapping the words off, Ronnie Wood a mess, but fair play to Richards, he can still puull it off, they need to pack it in, defnitely not worth the exorbitant ticket money🙄
You should post a video of your playing so we can all see what gives you the right to put down the Stones.
🥂❤️ cheers to Mick and his mates, always putting on an awesome show, they are all great performers, wishing them the best, thank you for all the songs, this band is truly the best. 😊
I saw this in NJ. I thought it was awful she’s got the wrong range for this and is just hamming it up
That u Rolling Stones for decades of great music! They look better now than they did back in the 70's and 80's!
Sad to watch. Ron Woods gets a cramp in his hands playing and has to shake it off. Keith has to sit down to play. Not the dynamic crew they used to be. I hate that they are getting old. I hate that I'm getting old. They are only a decade older than me. This is not how I wanted to remember them.
Your response makes me sad. Rather than remarking that it’s incredibly wonderful that men their age are still out there doing what they love AND continuing to bring much joy with their music to people of all ages, you focus on a momentary hand cramp and Keith sitting down for a minute. How you’ll remember them, and how I’ll remember them are very different.
If you want perfection feel free to watch studio videos!
I became alienated with Jagger after 1972 when he turned into a " Bowie freak" moving around the stage like à lesbian zombie!!😂😂😂😂
I was at that show and they were amazing! Like how fine wine ages and develops more character and depth! I will go see them as long as they want to play! So bl sad to still have them, hand cramps and all!❤
I mean so glad to have them!❤

One thing I like about the Stones is that they play so loose, like they are practicing in their garage ... and yet they maintain this wonderful and powerful sound. What a great band.
Back in the day, my brother used to have a tape of them doing blues covers, which I guess they did in London clubs before they got famous. Hot stuff!!!
The message is in the music and it never fades away.

Miss Lisa Fischer... I saw her once with Luther Vandross and three times with the Rolling Stones. But the current band is great !
I agree, Lisa Fischer in her prime singing this song live with the Stones was the best. Just watch any video of her singing this song on UA-cam.

I like the way Fergie did this song on the female vocalist part.
I just saw em in Los Angeles. They’re just as good, if not better, than they’ve ever been!!! Still the World’s Greatest Rock n Band!!!

Ironically enough, I saw them at the Hollywood Bowl in the summer of '66. 😅 They've always been my favorite band. 45 straight minutes of pure adrenaline. In those days they didn't care if the guitars were in tune. 😅
