Safe to say Brandon Flowers delivers ONE OF THE BEST.. if not the BEST EVER Rock and Roll Hall of Fame speech.I love The Cars.. when the first time I heard their music.. just like what Flowers said “You dont forget your first..” Much love from Manila,Philippines and more power to The Cars! 🇵🇭
Brandon wears a jacket that is a clear homage to Cars' "Panorama" album.I was born in 1981 as him, eveything he says makes so much sense to me that makes me cry. My life is deeply connected with the Cars' music, since the beginning. What a band.Thank u Ben,thank you Ric.And thank you Brandon for this touching speech
@@humanchannel7825 It was on the tour 'Let's Go' song. They have great songs,i love them, but was disappointed with the Mannequin presence they portrayed.Nothing said between songs.Oh well, was still Alot of women there
Lots of The Cars songs are part of my life and memories, now it hurts to hear them since Ric and Ben are not with us plus family members and friends that are gone as well that loved to hear The Cars...
I'm tearing up listening to it. I feel every word he says. The Cars made me through some of the toughest times when I wanted to give it all up. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Probably the best induction speech I've ever heard. So from the heart and emotional. You can see how much he owes to this band. They were so freaking good.
Now you understand why he’s such an amazing lyricist! Listen to that speech! It had killers elements all through it! And Yes I love The Cars! I remember when heartbeat city was brand new And when Drive was in constant rotation on the radio! I still to this day think when Ric Ocasek walked above the pool water was simply Magic! Lastly there was no better individual to deliver such an iconic speech than Brandon Flowers! No other band has truly filled the void between then and now other than The Killers! They commence the side b of the soundtrack of our childhood! A tight fit rock n roll band who’s on another dimension compared to the what’s considered mainstream today!
I saw The Cars open for Bob Seger many, many years ago. They were truly fantastic and almost overshadowed Seger. Thanks to them, that is one of the only concerts I remember who opened for whom. RIP Benjamin and now Ric. Thank you for your brilliance, talent, memories, and the fantastic music you've left behind. I am smiling through my tears. My youngest son is jealous of the music I grew up with and I am very proud that he, too, is a Cars fan.
How cool are the Cars? Most winners are inducted by much older artists. These guys are between 60-73 years of age and were inducted by a guy less than half their age who's a current musician. Amazing.
Well said, young man, well said. I saw the Cars, by accident, as the warm up band for Richie Blackmore's Rainbow, at Royal Oak Music Theater in 1978. They left such an impression on me that the Cars became a favorite band as Rainbow became an afterthought. Their sound was so new, so different, so unique, so cool. They defined the New Wave coming.
The Cars sound is unmatched by any other band past or present, truly unique. Thank you for the great music, some of my favorites of all time. Rick and Ben live on.
Brandon is so talented and an awesome front man himself. I really hope Brandon gets the chance to induct New Order into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame whenever they get accepted. That would be so meaningful and plus Brandon's already good friends with Bernard Sumner.
Like Brandon, The Cars were my first. Cruising over to a friends house in my 69' Volkswagen beetle with my modified Pioneer stereo system in 1979 I was 17 yo and the song "Candy O" came over the air. INSTANTANEOUSLY I was hooked. I am 61 now and I still listen to The Cars almost everyday or at the very least every week. I just can't let the magic of their music go very long without hearing them. Every song has a memory for me during my journey into young adulthood and beyond. RIP Ric Ocasek and Ben Orr. Like the rest of the group I wish Ben could have been there to receive that award. For me Ben Orr IS The Cars and always will be. Very happy for Brandon Flowers being able to be the one to induct The Cars in the Rock and Roll HOF, what an honor! Congratulations to The Cars, millions of us love your music!!!
R,I,P Ric, you will be sadly missed! Brandon you gave such an eloquent and funny speech, love the Cars:: love the Killers::great video Cal Vid Thank You!! 🌺
Their debut album was an unexpected and delightful shot in the arm to music back in the late 70's. And they proved to not be one hit wonders with Candy O and Panorama.
@@stevedavis7451 I assume you're referring to Hot Fuss?! Most Killers fans will tell you Sams Town is better. I love Hot Fuss but Sams Town is one of my favorite albums of all time.
I have two memories of the cars..one was my aunt giving me a tape of the cars when she was cleaning out her car in i think 1990 and i had a red stereo with detachable speakers and the song lust for kicks was on that tape and it is still one of my favorite songs. Around the same time my mom bought a mixed tape from a yard sale..one side was fleetwood mac rumours and the other side was a mix of cars songs. We lived in oregon and took a trip to see my moms other sister in california and the whole ride down there we listened to that mix tape and the cars will always remind me of that trip and how i couldnt wait for the fleetwood mac side to finish so i could hear the cars again.. I loved their videos and they always sounded to me like the future..boy was i wrong because now in 2020 nothing sounds as good.
I will be 59 in 2 days, so I'm, ya know, older than most of The Killers fan base. But I am a big fan of their music, and I would love to see them in concert. As for The Cars, they were the soundtrack of my youth, especially the summer of 1979, when me and my friends wore out Candy O on the stereo after it came out. The Cars were a band that nearly everybody liked, yet they sounded like no other band of the time. It used to surprise me that both Van Halen fans and Ramones fans found common ground with The Cars.
Heartfelt speech. Brandon gushing over The Cars is the same way I feel for The Killers. So happy he got to honor his heroes!
Brandon gets it.
Total class.Wow.
Agree 100%!
Completely true !
What a combination!!! From America 🇺🇸 to the world baby!!!!!!! Couldn’t be any other way! 🤷🏻♂️🇺🇸

We need more of this
Love how he dropped "misfit kid" into it.
Brandon Flowers is too precious for this world. I love how excited he looked. If only he knew I feel the same way about The Killers!
When I hear The Killers I feel 16 all over again. They are the only band from the last 30 years that I feel deserve to be enshrined in the HOF.
I LOVE Brandon's emotion here. He is just holding back the tears!!!
Hes nervous and was always nervous when talking in interviews.

Cannot wait to see The Killers inducted one day!
Brandon Flowers, the best frontman of this century.

Aw, RIH Ric Ocazek 🙏😎💖
He truly was a genius of illustrious musical talent!

MiaSqueaky, see my comment above. Ric was talented but a pretty unimpressive person often.
The Cars finally being inducted is Just What I Needed 💙
It's a reaction to lo-oh-oh-oh-ove.
What kills me is Joan Jett got in before The Cars.
It's disgraceful they took so long to do it. I wish Benji could have been alive to be a part of it.

everyone must have a memory connected to a song by the cars. what a gift.
To me it was almost every song.

don't forget Ben Orr.

This guy got very good taste! I’ve seen him paying homage to Pet Shop Boys and now The Cars. Love you Brandon! And RIP Ric Ocasek!

I watch the Its All Mixed Up Video often. The smile on Ben Orr’s face at the end is beautiful.

The Cars are so unique and so cool. So glad they finally made it. RIP Benjamin Orr.

“Drive” had me crying uncontrollably at Live Aid. Fitting that a fan, Brandon, should pay tribute.

Several years ago I saw Brandon Flowers interviewed. He was asked what band he wishes he could have seen live. His answer: The Cars.
He's always mentioned the Cars. This is so fitting
Brandon and The Cars. This is music history.
The Cars were amazing. Elliot Easton most underrated guitar players, and Benjamin Orr!
