Benjamin Orr sang lead vocal on this song but every chorus that goes "Just take your time, it's not too late, I'll be your mirror so you won't hesitate" is Ric Ocasek singing. All the other verses are Benjamin Orr singing. This is one of the best Cars songs ever recorded but it was always too underrated for many people in the general public to be familiar with.

First time i heard this song. They traded off singing in some songs like "take it over" That's probably why the public thought it was Ric singing. Love them!

Agreed. Panorama is my favorite Cars album and Touch and Go probably is my favorite Cars song, but You Wear Those Eyes is incredible. In a catalog of very unique songs I'm not so sure this isn't the most unique. I bet they didn't play it live too often, so this is a treasured version for all of us to enjoy!

Correct. So many people posting about other tunes they supposedly traded off lead vocal on. If you can't tell who sings lead, you're not a true Cars fan.

@@billpierce3841 You are correct, I was probably confused with another song of theirs. I pretty much quit listening to rock music in the early 80's and now am going back through entire albums of that era of the very few bands that I liked during that decade. So no, I am not well informed nor am I a rabid Ben Orr or Cars fan. I saw them live once in Cleveland back in the day and to this day I still won't listen to Heartbeat City because it was so overplayed to the point of overkill just like the Bee Gees Main Course a decade before it. I just enjoy music for my listening pleasure. 😂
PS. I deleted my op comment because it was so wrong. And the only explanation I can think of why I would have wrote that is because I must have been confused with another song of theirs where they both sang parts maybe from earlier Capn Swing days? Idk.

The epitome of a hidden gem. Given the poor performances of releases from that album, IMHO, Should’ve been the second release off of panorama. Had a darn good chance to be a hit.
