Its both, because either creators when too far or the audiences went overly pleased their favorite creators to goes beyond without any single caution of decision not even a bit. Nobody win, only Karma of shameful failure due to acceptance of doing bad things.
The viewers can't force the creator's choices. The creator is completely at fault for making the choice for views.

first, how to make a meme story take a serious turn and now in several channels it happens to them as Nick (well he is not popular in my country clearly for having worse things).
Second, I love the details, like when he moves the mouse, it synchronizes correctly with the movement in the game 0:30. It's those things that give weight to the video even if they are just meme stories.
