They're just cleaning up all the shitty channels that have been bordering on the edge for months now, RT knows for a fact he was making some jokes and saying and doing stuff on stream that would get him age gated and he just laughs it off. Not laughing anymore is he
Thanks for signal boosting my issues. I've had to take a break from UA-cam and my Twitter because it's been overwhelming having to deal with this, but I hugely appreciate the massive support that's come for my content. It's not even about monetisation being removed for me or my content being limited, it's the implications this precedent has for so many livelihoods across UA-cam. Something that this video doesn't touch on is that this entire situation started because I asked UA-cam for help lifting an age restriction on one of my videos - because I did they retroactively applied the policy change to all of my content. My genuine advice now unfortunately is you should not ask UA-cam for help if you have a problem, as they can and will punish you for doing so. That is an insane stance for them to take and double down on. It's only through outrage that we unfortunately might achieve policy change, so I ask that people continue talking about this and contacting UA-cam expressing their disgust with this decision
In fairness your channel has some pretty shocking content. Idk if a child could handle watching ten whole minutes of people digging a hole in minecraft.
The only thing keeping UA-cam alive despite all their monumentally shitty management decisions is the fact they're a near complete monopoly on Online Video.
I’ve been saying this for years bro. Companies are scared to go against YT because of how large they are but if ONE COMPANY makes UA-cam 2.0 and advertises it well YT is fucking DONE. We saw this with Twitch and how they originally treated creators well and made many people stop YT and go to Twitch (even though Twitch was a streaming platform and not a video creation platform). Twitch had to become YT 2.0 of course and don’t give a shit about their creators anymore but if they still did and added a online video option I legit think YT would be in shambles. Unfortunately Twitch basically became UA-cam in the end but if they just didn’t turn corporate and tried to focus on their creators, freedom of creation, and like actual solid updates like they did in the past YT would be struggling and scrambling.

@@SquishyAuri I've been friends with many content creators from 0 subs all the way up to hundreds of thousands of subs. It's both. They only continue to do it if it's fun, but they'll also only continue to do it if they make money from it, or believe that they can make money from it. I used to make reviews. It was fun, but I did not make money off of it, so I had to stop. I used to make VRChat content. I made money and was named among the top VR channels that exist, but it was not fun. Now I make strategy content. It is both fun, and earns me money. Otherwise, I would not do it. And I can say the same of every other UA-camr and streamer that I have met, which numbers in the hundreds.
Imagine punishing grown adults for saying "naughty words." YT is becoming like the radio/public TV where you are now effectively unable to swear at all. It's so arbitrary too, I truly do not understand this concept of "bad words" as if using profanity would curse any child that hears it. Society is just censoring people over nothing
Ironically, over the last decade here in America, they've SIGNIFICANTLY relaxed the rules on foul language usage on cable channels. Even on broadcast networks, there's been things said that surprised me, like on a Law&Order SVU episode I was watching ~7 yrs ago when someone said "douchebag". Admittedly, not very vulgar... but I _believe_ "bitch", and variants of "ass" are also allowed now (but don't hold me to those). Whereas back in cable land and as of the last 2 years (3?), I believe that so long as it's not being said in a derogatory manner, "fuck" is allowed; although, *there may* still be some restrictions. I know initially it was only allowed like at/after the 9pm time slot, and also only *one* instance per show. "Shit" has been allowed for quite a number of years now, but went through similar restrictions when first allowed. Now though, I've heard it uncensored in a show/movie that was playing at 11am on the weekend! lol (was either FX or FXX, 6-8mo ago). Comically, "goddamn/goddammit" still is not acceptable... 😐🤣🤷♂️ In terms of YT's decision to crack down on swearing, all of the above is to say: *_goddamn_*_ that is fucking dumb as shit!_ ....🤔 Wonder if I'll get that _"Heyyyyy now... Be nice!"_ warning and have to click "Post It Anyways"... lol _EDIT: HA I did not!_
it's not surprising, ANYONE who's anyone is part of several unions/guilds in Hollywood. Corporations have been fucking musicians and entertainers since the beginning of radio

I believe they made the policy change a few months ago, and have been slowly ramping it up ever since. When one of my videos was age-restricted back in September, I had a direct line of communication with UA-cam, and this is what they told me: "To avoid age restrictions in the future, I recommend carefully reviewing videos to ensure they exclude the use of explicits, even if you do not believe they are excessive." They said that I need to avoid ALL profanity in my videos going forward, or risk age-restriction. Tread carefully everyone.
I was confused why your MegaMan2 video was taken down so quickly, and When i found out it was because of cursing an hour in, i was dumbfounded. UA-cam needs to get there rules straight. Keep it up man
What do you expect? UA-cam is owned by Google who is one of the biggest totalitarian corporations in the world. Of course they don't mind screwing over the creators who made UA-cam what it is.
and they spammed pornography bots on my videos and streams every single day even the UA-cam official forum had no idea how to apprehend that. It's hypocritical and fcking disgusting.
Not to mention scam ads. If these dumbass political parties weren’t so busy fighting maybe we could hold big business monopolies accountable. If we stop attacking each other and come together for 2 seconds that is.
Considering the extreme and vague nature of the policy, do you think UA-cam go that far where even censoring swear words in your video still counts on you getting demonetised? Because if it is, that would be Sh***y of UA-cam.
As a parent with experience with YTkids we rather have our child off that horrible app. My son found more trash on the kids app then he does on UA-cam classic. He loves watching gaming videos and cursing just isn't a thing I care about. This is going to impact some of his favorite creators and I'm pissed personally. It's my job to keep track of what he's watching not UA-cam! UA-cam needs to stop pandering to the minority of parents, that clearly don't police their kids them selves!
Unfortunately, that minority of parents is very vocal. It's about the advertisers, UA-cam is scared of those incidents when parents forget how to do their job and then blames UA-cam, because then if it gets big enough they might lose advertisers. UA-cam has become more and more of a greedy corporation, so less advertisers means less money, which is unacceptable to them.
@@AkumuVids unfortunately the people who are the loudest in the community generally represent a small minority of said community, so ends up happening is these corporations make changes based off of those things and then all of a sudden they notice that they're engagement for their product drastically goes down as they find out oh shit all those people crying aren't even the majority
Right? Can you even search on it yet? They also kept finding these weird animated religious parables on there that were essentially trying to indoctrinate kids to whatever religion happened to be in the video, mostly Evangelical and Muslim. It got easier to curate videos in regular UA-cam than it was in YTKids, so that's just what we did.
It seems like UA-cam is trying to mitigate backlash or dodge it completely by refusing to publicly announce changes like this. They’re hoping to sneak it by as many creators as possible. Truly underhanded and nothing more than petty theft if you ask me.
Twitch streamers: "Man... this new income split stinks, UA-cam is starting to look enticing. I kinda want to try streaming there." UA-cam reps: "Lets change that."
I’m not monetized yet, but my understanding is that they still allow ads to run on “demonetized” content. With that being the case, it really just seems like they’re looking for new excuses to not split ad revenue with creators.
Yep. Gotta stop using UA-cam for literally ANYTHING and EVERYTHING. The other problem is that governments around the world are all working together (i.e. United Nations and NATO) to euthanize most of the population of this planet, while leaving the ruling class untouched, unharmed, and able to continue living their sociopathic lives in exceptional luxury.

But it would be idiotic to say it's not a job
I don't even get who this is supposed to protect anymore. It isn't a kids platform, and the content that routinely gets restricted as "18+" is hardly 18+ content by any other media metric After working directly with multiple brands, companies and advertisers, it's not my impression that companies are actually *this* picky with sqeaky cleaness. The motives are so strange, and the lack of communication makes it a minefield. Even if you manage to get a video appealed many of the algorithmic locks will often remain and the video is simply dead in the water I hope enough attention will change something, but I also know that's what I have been saying every time for years
They literally have UA-cam kids, there is no reason for this idiocy to even be conceptualised under their reasoning. But, as always: they're lying about why they're doing it. Ever since they started running ads on demonetised content, it's been crystal clear: they want youtubers to do all the work, and to pay as few of them as possible.
Protect the returns of the shareholders, of course! I can see how this is UA-cam's scheme to slowly phase out paying out creators their ad money, bit by bit. More money for the shareholders!
If only UA-cam had a platform specifically for kids that they could use... Ah well, guess that just doesn't exist and isn't collecting digital dust on the app stores.
It would be huge. A UA-cam app exclusively for kids, content creators geared toward entertaining kids, and make UA-cam is 18+ to use. Everyone uses the appropriate platforms and everyone wins. Because right now it's like minors being in a bar (UA-cam being the bar). They're going to hear and see stuff that they don't need to be around. And you wouldn't tell everyone in the bar to stop cursing and be overly appropriate or they won't come back. I mean I feel like anyone with a brain in charge of this thing should have done this already.
@SUPERMA5TER it's kinda ridiculous that if you are not signed into an age appropriate account you can't watch certain videos, so it's youtubes fault for letting all these underage kids lie about their age then complain about what they see causing these kinds of problems, plus parents not monitoring what their kids watch and then catching their kid watching something they're not supposed to and then getting mad and also causing problems like this
I love how adults can't just be adults and have fun simply because children exist. Apparently, it's not the parents' responsibility to monitor what their kids watch. UA-cam is a garbage company... but what's new when we live in a world full of trash.
Start supporting alternatives like Odysee and BitChute and trying to encourage creators to back up content on alternative platforms. Can't spend so much time complaining about YT without having an alternative being supported. YT is a dumpster fire and needs to be competed with fairly.
The issue is bigger than just youtube. Parents are losing authority and responsibility for their own kids, and govs are overtakin it for these parents. Im not suprised what is happening all around(Tate message). Im seeying through the veil, world is upside down, and the end is near.

Considering how often youtube has made awful changes recently last year and this year this doesn't surprise me, But as per usual another awful change by youtube themselves as per usual it never fails to not surprise me and another thing I must mention, The kids version of UA-cam is most definitely not kid friendly either while the stuff may not be as graphic it is still not suitable for a child, Meaning youtube kids really isn't a kids app considering how it still has its own flaws that aren't suitable for the child mind, Especially an extremely young child.
If UA-cam keeps this shit up they'll Tumblr themselves eventually. It'll take a long time if it ever happens, but they're making a case for someone to compete with them.
Unfortunately people have been saying that since 2016. When this website has billions of users, losing a hundred million (or probably less on "edgy youtube") is negligible when more profits can be made from advertisers.
I honestly don't think it even has to do with censorship at this point. Seems to me like they constantly change policies just to demonetize more videos so they don't have to pay creators as much.
Man, that South Park episode where they tried to break the TV formula by trying to fit as many curse words as possible into an episode is close to applying to UA-cam...
I hope that Markiplier will talk about this. I 100% know this will absolutely destroy his entire channel. He plays pretty much only horror games, which by this new rule, are meant to shock/scare/entice violence among an audience. Mark also has sworn so much in these old videos it's almost unreal. 10 years of content will be demonetized. Charlie and Mark feel like the two most powerful voices in UA-cam. Being honest though, the way they just slapped Mark and shamed him for his take on UA-cam's BS rules doesn't bode well anymore.
Markiplier is immune to these UA-cam changes unless He literally says out loud to everyone and UA-cam that he should also be affected. Obviously you don't remember the fiasco a while back when Charlie and many others got hit for some other UA-cam BS, and he didn't, until he spoke up about it.
Mark was very clear that what heppened on the UA-cam Live fiasco was one to up to a handful of youtube employees who felt personally insulted by Mark's comments and, without actually informing anybody, decided to cut him out themselves. Even Mark's yt advisor (whatever the term) was given no warning and a cold shoulder in response to questioning. I agree, though. Its horrifying the way yt as a whole is moving, not to mention the still-growing issue of content farms - by yt's own policy something against their tos - outcompeting real people in terms of moneymaking. Yt realized they have a monopoly, and they dont give a shit about castrating their own platform if it means they can break records in profit.

By no means do I have almost ANY knowledge on the history of contracts and legality when it comes to youtube but... this really feels like something that should be able to be fought in court doesn't it? You're making content under a set of guidelines in order to make a profit for you and by proxy them. It seems super weird that it would be legal to go in, change that agreement, and RETROACTIVELY stop funding for videos that were made under the context of a potentially entirely different contract.

If they can detect profanity with pinpoint precision, can't they just censor it for people that are under 18? Which is sort of scary in it's own right, but still makes more sense at the end of the day.
Not 100% sure if this is how demonitization manifests, but affected videos won’t have any ads placed on the video and hence neither the creator nor UA-cam earns money. So this rather seems like it supposed to protect advisers, but the question remains if their advertisement campaigns will be more profitable when shown to less people on videos not triggering the policy. Is not swearing and not showing gore in videos really a predictor of advertisement success? I am having a hard time believing that but maybe I’m wrong. Am I missing something here?

I tried to appeal but UA-cam disregarded my appeal entirely, I even told them "I understand if those videos are not welcome in the platform but at least give me one strike and give me the opportunity to remove them" but they did aboslutely nothing... What pisses me off more than YT being YT is that we are really not allowed to do anything creative (out of pure fun, no money involved) at all just because of advertisers or in general "money people", same goes with having an opinion or even discussing delicate but important topics for the same reason.

Hit the nail on the head, it's not seeking improvement nor being political, it is profiteering on the assumption it is a sinking ship. People here complaining about it not having competition is also wrong, it's competing with any other media that allows videos to be shared. lol didn't expect to see your comment here but who doesn't like Charlie good thing you've been censoring and bleeping things out tho dude, or things could and will get worse. luckily on my own gaming channel even if hobby wise, never swore or anything so and I play mostly nintendo and sega games or at the very least, subtle to nothing indie games. must suck to be a big youtuber these days ALWAYS having to walk on eggshells but I think even you knew youtube was never really for the people and only for themselves. at this rate they don't even want to pay creators anymore now I do believe I remember a time where youtube wanted to be a type of netflix to add subscriptions to people, I believe at least, it wasn't 100% known just a rumor (I'd believe it though) but it feels like instead of subscriptions it's taking away your voice for them to post ads on your videos so that way they get more money out of it. sadly unless you're the greatest entertainer of all time no one's real job is going to be on youtube much anymore. though I root for you! Keep up your good work!
I think its because kids can very easily lie about their age(There is no practical way to verify age, things like social security number are too impractical) I'm not defending youtube here, but this is probably what advertisers were thinking
@@tonyh6522 thats the exact reason why theres a separate app so it removes the choice from the kid to even have to lie. just the parents not properly watching their children and applying parental locks
I think it's because they want children to lie about their age and use normal UA-cam so that they can advertise to them as if they were adults and make more money. if UA-cam has a lot of swearing, a parent may hear their child watching that and stop them, but if it doesn't then it's more likely that child will continue on watching UA-cam instead of UA-cam kids.
They must have had a board meeting and this is what they came up with to make more $$$. The demonetization of old videos with profanity is going to affect alot of creators not to mention the lack of awareness of most creators as Charlie mentioned of these changes by alot of current creators.

They have UA-cam kids for a reason… why not just push all these horrid kid friendly style policies to videos meant for UA-cam kids and leave the regular platform alone
Yes. Like why can’t people comment on kids videos?? Just make it so that people with kids accounts can’t view them. Just to be safe make it so you can’t see them unless you’re signed in and an adult.
Because no one makes UA-cam Kids content because it's a death sentence for monetization. That's why they tried to aggressively flag videos as UA-cam Kids a while back, with no real way to appeal.
Because UA-cam's reason for this rule change is to get a 100 percent cut in the ad revenue of as many UA-cam videos as possible! You see, when a given video is demonetized, UA-cam will STILL put ads on that video! It's just that UA-cam will take a 100 percent cut in that video's ad revenue. The reason UA-cam wants to get a 100 percent cut in as many videos' ad revenues as possible is that the parent company, Alphabet, is SEVERELY strapped for cash. The reason: venture capitalists and even activist "investors" are now shying away from tech companies.
@@BrandonPhillipsPosterus The reason why people can't comment on YTKids videos is because that's where most of the grooming took place. As much as I disagree with YT's crappy policies, this is one of the few that sorta made sense to me. UA-cam went scorched earth after the second adpocalypse, lol.
This is absolutely terrifying, not just because of the horrible changes themselves, but how clearly they're making it clear that they genuinely do not care about us. If they're willing do this, they'll throw us around any way they please. It feels like every time they pull some BS like this, "youtuber" becomes less and less of a dream job title.
not much of a dream job anymore than it is just a place to have a hobby that's why my gaming channel is a hobby and even if trying to push out my own creations, I'm making them into a video game first to actually maybe earn something out of it because youtube doesn't want to pay anyone anymore instead their payment is through ads, the less payment we get and the more ads they get, the happier they are that's why most youtubers want that ad deal with a company it's the only way to actually get paid!
we need a new form of youtube.. a new website. one where you dont get your profits cut for saying words im pretty sure literally everyone says everyday.
it has been tried and failed every time. its just impossible to grow anywhere else, youtube/google has a monopoly on video sharing/content. good luck blowing up on vimeo
perhaps if a large group of huge creators could take the potential risk of losing alot of their income and create their own site, that would inspire even more creators to make the switch, but i highly doubt that will happen any time soon
a huge issue with that is history. there’s a decade of videos on youtube and if you moved to another platform you could move your own videos over, but viewers would still likely watch old content that’s still on youtube. it would require a vast majority of youtubers with and level of following to move all their content to a new site and it still could struggle
@Wowreacts right I feel you they are literally a monopoly but I feel ALOT OF CREATORS are pissed enough to switch if they could, it's only a matter of time b4 enough of us get fuking tired bc im tired AF OF THIS APP
With the amount of video uploaded every single day, theres only one other company that could possibly compete due to storage space. And thats MindGeek.
This has always been UA-cam. The main issue is there is no alternative website. Any of the smaller sites don't have enough traction or funds to even think about hosting so many videos and viewers.
It's mind blowing that this is the change they want to go with but refuse to put any amount of effort towards fighting the bot problem on the platform. Even just casually scrolling through this comment section I found a half dozen just in 5 mins. This company has become such a joke just knowing how much better it was even just 5 years ago...
well think about it, bots give them more users, which increases it's value for stock of the company that owns it. Second, de-monitizing videos, makes youtube more money, because they get to keep all that revenue for themselves...

Known rules equally applied by can usually be tolerated even if they're shit. Unknown rules, and rules applied haphazardly or with bias cannot. “Caulk.” This applies to words that sound similar to swear words, despite being written on screen in plain text and not being a curse. The impossible number of emails and individuals on the help team I’ve spoken to about this now is mind numbing.
So UA-cam basically said “yeah I’m aware that Caulk is a [REDACTED] tool for and literally any creator focusing on building [REDACTED] on this app is gonna need to use it, but [REDACTED] you guys lol take a strike”?
btw even if u get ur video MANUALLY REVIEWED before uploading it and they say its all good they can come back and demonetize it anytime with no chance of trying another review or any reasoning to why or which part got it demonetized which i think is unfair as hell
i feel like the fact that youtube has subtitles and transcript functions means they could easily implement a way to selectively mute/bleep out curse words if they really wanted to (maybe a "clean mode" that can't be disabled if you're under 13)
They have the resources to do this and much mucchh more. Like e.g i don’t understand why the direct/live translation has been implemented successfully and lmost flawlessly on tiktok but youtube being the biggest video platform and the most needy for this feature hadn't, and when they did it was so shitty and inaccurate and would only work for like 30% of the time. I honestly wonder if most their employees even work or do anything other than just maintaining this website and implementing stupid features no one even asked for in the first place.
@@yeah7519 auto captions are usually pretty good in my experience, it depends on the video’s audio quality and if the person speaking is enunciating well, but even when they’re not it picks up what they’re saying mostly
This is insane. There is a reason there is UA-cam Kids. UA-cam is made for content that can range across ages. It really sucks how they even were getting rid of old videos that didn't even do anything wrong. This policy should be removed, and UA-cam is going to fall apart or something with this. Swearing is a normal thing on UA-cam. (Edit: Also, in addition to comments I am getting, its also the fact that some people are getting ads and sponsors cut off.)
@@MsFated Kids are the reason "Inappropriate language" as a terminology, exists. Inappropriate language being the stick that advertiser's use to justify the beating they dish out onto "platform" sites like UA-cam and any other online domain which runs ads. In essence, your comment is correct. In technicalities, kids are "the reason" why UA-cam is changing ad rev policy. It's a smokescreen to pick and choose which content creators UA-cam will be able to run Ads that don't give revenue to the creator. They already do this, the changes are just expanding upon the power they already have. Now they'll be able to dataset and catalogue creators that get flagged regularly, or even infrequently; and with that information they'll be able to run "100% UA-cam revenue ads" on the demoneitised videos.
I've got a feeling the reason for them being picky about profanity in the first 15 seconds is to do with the fact that on Android TV/UA-cam TV app they are playing video previews now. This means a child could be just on the TV trying to get to Dora the Explorer videos but in navigating to the kids section might leave the cursor over another video. As for the Godslapp video, it might not be about profanity but rather that advertisers don't want to offend religious practitioners.
@@baiwuli6781 because often they're kids who are like 3-5 years old and they're too young to understand the nuances of appropriately used swear words versus just sounding kinda annoying and lame.
Yeah, letting a curse slip through is pretty tame and a lot of the new creators I follow aren’t gratuitous with swearing. I try not to be as well. But another concerning aspect of this policy change is the vagueness of the violence rule. Many popular titles are “violent”. What is okay and what isn’t okay is a bit muddy. And the rule against discussing any “controversial” topics is also worrying, especially for journalists and reporting channels not part of networks. So so so many channels are getting hit by this and it really sucks.
@@SnoobGoblin I agree youtube has always been a dick about that. And I just know this'll add more fuel to the fire if we take in the appeal system. It'll just add another avenue for creators to get fucked. If youtube just put the bare minimum into monitoring their site properly it wouldn't have this track record
It's exactly why I am withholding uploading. Swearing comes naturally for comedic effect- it's funny, and has been, since the dawn of UA-cam game uploading. You can't punish adults for swearing, when the kids (and their parents) are at fault.
I have a theory of why youtube demonetized the godslap video. As we all know, the youtube robots are always high and crazy. And it was mentioned that they will go after EVERY 'curse' word. Well Charlie said 'come' a few times which as we all know sounds exactly like 'cum'. I bet that was it.
great idea. every youtuber protests by having a 2011 neon flashing intro with dubstep in the background that ends with it coming towards the screen and fading to black
Or just stare blankly into the camera for 30secs at every start of the video... Users can just skip it and it doesn't dictate content creators on what they are allowed to say
@@m00str I wish, but the first 30 seconds of a video is what "hooks" your viewers. Some people are too lazy to skip, so they click off, making it harder for smaller channels
And sometimes it's even worse, if the video gets claimed because of some music that is playing on the background, they can pass the monetization to Universal (who controls basically all the music industry right now) and they can even insert multiple ads on the video and claim 100% of the profits. Even if the sound is muffled, edited and in 3 seconds of a 20 minute video. It's shameful.
I literally get the most unrelated videos (most of them are from UA-cam kids) when I search up,trying to watch a video I watched before but can’t find it due to the unrelated videos.
@Alex Well man regardless of reason freedom of speech exists and shouldn't stop you from getting your cut considering all the swearing in literally every over form of regulated media that exists. Itd be one thing if it had been UA-cam's policy from the get go but the constant stealth changes are what is leaving a sour taste in a lot of peoples mouth.
Changes like this really show how much UA-cam cares about its content creators, it shows that they couldn’t give less of a shit if it means more money for them

Something that this video doesn't touch on is that this entire situation started because I asked UA-cam for help lifting an age restriction on one of my videos - because I did they retroactively applied the policy change to all of my content.

The thing is, in Sweden and most of Scandinavia at least you can swear and stuff on radio/tv so I really don't understand this crazy censorship.
Corporations own the world now. Surprised this didn't happen earlier.
This isnt about swearing. Its about exerting control.
In terms of YT's decision to crack down on swearing, all of the above is to say: *_goddamn_*_ that is fucking dumb as shit!_

It's my job to keep track of what he's watching not UA-cam! UA-cam needs to stop pandering to the minority of parents, that clearly don't police their kids them selves!
Police is the wrong word, since you don't tend to shoot your own kids usually. I think the word you're looking for is, "parent" the kids.
Funny they don't care about groo ming kids when they use letters as pronouns
It seems like UA-cam is trying to mitigate backlash or dodge it completely by refusing to publicly announce changes like this. They’re hoping to sneak it by as many creators as possible. Truly underhanded and nothing more than petty theft if you ask me.
That fucking shit ain't going to sneak by for long when people start getting demonetized & losing their income.
Twitch streamers: "Man... this new income split stinks, UA-cam is starting to look enticing. I kinda want to try streaming there."

It isn't a kids platform, and the content that routinely gets restricted as "18+" is hardly 18+ content by any other media metric
After working directly with multiple brands, companies and advertisers, it's not my impression that companies are actually *this* picky with sqeaky cleaness.
The motives are so strange, and the lack of communication makes it a minefield.

Its meant to protect executive's wallets, sadly.
I believe that if this will continue, then sooner or later someone will make a platform simmular to YT and YT will die, which is sad
Because youtube still earns money from ad revenue on demonitized videos while the creators don't
@@Bingycat if only UA-cam had a platform made for the people watching the videos

I bet if they had Kids in the app name it would be even easier to separate the two
Dang if only the UA-cam kidz app could get this same treatment
I love how adults can't just be adults and have fun simply because children exist. Apparently, it's not the parents' responsibility to monitor what their kids watch. UA-cam is a garbage company... but what's new when we live in a world full of trash.

But at the same time I can't possibly comprehend why they put so much work into being the most jumpable ship they can manage. All they have to do is leave things be. At this point I'm starting to actually believe that sarcastic theory that UA-cam isn't run by actual people so much as AIs, I am literally unable to fathom how any human or group of humans could be braindead enough to be running it like this.
There's a trend of some creators creating their own apps to draw their audience and place control back into their hands.
@@Tracked350Z That's great in theory, but in practice they can never get the same audience they can get on UA-cam through an app like that, which is how UA-cam stays on top. @@geisterwolf397 this^ youtube is like any other big company. Loves money, hates paying its workers money.
People let it happen. They are ignorant and never complained, just very poorly educated and not caring. Just as long as they can make money on fortnight videos.
Sadly that's what happen with monopolies.
@@HuskyGamersUNITE so many people complained tho. Discussion revolving around UA-cam’s garbage policies have been non-stop for years now. UA-cam just doesn’t listen because their main revenue comes from advertisers, not creators.

I’ve seen people swear and use all sorts of colorful language and that stays up yet one time I mention scenes of adult jokes in Disney films without even explaining what they mean and use actual dialogue from both G and PG films and that gets removed for “violating their rules”.
These AI content detection bots are laughable.
UA-cam is acting like a dumb parent that wont monitor what their own child’s watching, and instead blames everyone else

That also includes any form of hanging.

must suck to be a big youtuber these days ALWAYS having to walk on eggshells but I think even you knew youtube was never really for the people and only for themselves.
at this rate they don't even want to pay creators anymore
now I do believe I remember a time where youtube wanted to be a type of netflix to add subscriptions to people, I believe at least, it wasn't 100% known just a rumor (I'd believe it though)

They just like the control over you peasants
I think its because kids can very easily lie about their age(There is no practical way to verify age, things like social security number are too impractical)
I'm not defending youtube here, but this is probably what advertisers were thinking
It's almost like they're vague about TOS so they can enforce it how ever they want.

They must have had a board meeting and this is what they came up with to make more $$$.

I recommend researching 'narcissistic personality disorder' (NPD) / 'cluster-B'; and know that they are the 'root of all evil' (especially 'ESFJ/ESTJ-narcissist'; Myers-Briggs reference, look it up)!
European 'ESFJ' are the worst personality type, and they are responsible for inventing 'racism' and colonization! It is in their neuro-psychology!!!
They are extremely 'manipulative' and often use 'looking pretty' to distract others from the witch's mind-games / mind-rape, e.g. gaslighting, playing the victim/damsel in distress, creating "flying-monkeys", and 'bribing' others (with money or BJ) to attack, or at times, kill someone for her. When caught, she will use her minions as scapegoats. European ESFJ are notorious for this especially in a racist context, e.g. Emmett Till.
xSFP and ISFJ (2W1) are the most complicit, narcissistic-enablers. ISFP also tend to be 'oblivious-codependents' (look up the definition). Like ESFJ, XSFP's "feelings 'is' their reality." Most are covert-narcissists.

That's the point
They have UA-cam kids for a reason… why not just push all these horrid kid friendly style policies to videos meant for UA-cam kids and leave the regular platform alone
Yes. Like why can’t people comment on kids videos?? Just make it so that people with kids accounts can’t view them. Just to be safe make it so you can’t see them unless you’re signed in and an adult.
Because no one makes UA-cam Kids content because it's a death sentence for monetization.
That's why they tried to aggressively flag videos as UA-cam Kids a while back, with no real way to appeal.
Exactly.
I see why some big channels have such long intros
This is absolutely terrifying, not just because of the horrible changes themselves, but how clearly they're making it clear that they genuinely do not care about us. If they're willing do this, they'll throw us around any way they please. It feels like every time they pull some BS like this, "youtuber" becomes less and less of a dream job title.
Yessir, it takes a long time to censor 2 hour long videos like yours
not much of a dream job anymore than it is just a place to have a hobby
that's why my gaming channel is a hobby and even if trying to push out my own creations, I'm making them into a video game first to actually maybe earn something out of it because youtube doesn't want to pay anyone anymore
instead their payment is through ads, the less payment we get and the more ads they get, the happier they are
that's why most youtubers want that ad deal with a company it's the only way to actually get paid!
There's a reason why youtube kids exists
we need a new form of youtube.. a new website. one where you dont get your profits cut for saying words im pretty sure literally everyone says everyday.
it has been tried and failed every time. its just impossible to grow anywhere else, youtube/google has a monopoly on video sharing/content.
good luck blowing up on vimeo
perhaps if a large group of huge creators could take the potential risk of losing alot of their income and create their own site, that would inspire even more creators to make the switch, but i highly doubt that will happen any time soon
a huge issue with that is history. there’s a decade of videos on youtube and if you moved to another platform you could move your own videos over, but viewers would still likely watch old content that’s still on youtube. it would require a vast majority of youtubers with and level of following to move all their content to a new site and it still could struggle
YT seems to be desperate to lose popularity, like its a cost-saving exercise.
It’s about complete control
This has always been UA-cam. The main issue is there is no alternative website. Any of the smaller sites don't have enough traction or funds to even think about hosting so many videos and viewers.
I literally cant NOT wait for a better platform to overtake youtube cuz I am so tired of this bull...

Even just casually scrolling through this comment section I found a half dozen just in 5 mins. This company has become such a joke just knowing how much better it was even just 5 years ago...
That’s probably because make changes like this might take way less effort than getting rid of bots.
well think about it, bots give them more users, which increases it's value for stock of the company that owns it. Second, de-monitizing videos, makes youtube more money, because they get to keep all that revenue for themselves...

i feel like the fact that youtube has subtitles and transcript functions means they could easily implement a way to selectively mute/bleep out curse words if they really wanted to (maybe a "clean mode" that can't be disabled if you're under 13)
That would mean they would have to improve their horrible automatic subtitling 🙄
@@MsFated oh sry :(
@@MsFated Kids are the reason "Inappropriate language" as a terminology, exists.
This has to be terrifying for any up and coming youtubers that use cursing. Why does youtube continue to ostracize their users?
Yeah, letting a curse slip through is pretty tame and a lot of the new creators I follow aren’t gratuitous with swearing. I try not to be as well. But another concerning aspect of this policy change is the vagueness of the violence rule. Many popular titles are “violent”. What is okay and what isn’t okay is a bit muddy.
And the rule against discussing any “controversial” topics is also worrying, especially for journalists and reporting channels not part of networks. So so so many channels are getting hit by this and it really sucks.
@@SnoobGoblin I agree youtube has always been a dick about that. And I just know this'll add more fuel to the fire if we take in the appeal system. great idea. every youtuber protests by having a 2011 neon flashing intro with dubstep in the background that ends with it coming towards the screen and fading to black
ah yes. the title screens that took the first 30 seconds of each upload.

The thing that has never made sense to me is that, even if you demonitized, youtube still runs ads on your video, they just dont give you your cut.
That makes perfect sense, for UA-cam
Even for me, I’m below the threshold for monetisation, fair enough, but they still run ads on some of my videos, where’s my cut
