As good as those two companies are at making phones, you objectively can get more value on an alternative phone. Although, in my opinion, the biggest issue with many Android phones is poor optimization and intense bloatware...

I prefer Android/Samsung simply because I can load alternative operating systems like linux to have full control over my device, as well as having free creative range over how my phone/tablets preform, how the UI looks as well as how much security/privacy I have.
My main issue with Apple is they're data collection, questionable build quality/design flaws (sometimes intentional) and no reliable third-party maintenance/open source to fix an issue or have access to root level customization.
Idk, it just seems like Samsung is much more freeing.
I've gotten full Windows XP versions running on old android phones. Call me biased, but it doesn't get much better than that.

Yeah, I agree that the whole fight is literally for nothing, considering that apple is just as crooked and selfish as android, the truth is that apple and android love the competition, they need it.
I’m not one of the type of person that fights about what phone is better, nor am I type of person that buys a new phone every year.
I own a iPhone 13 pro max because it was a dramatic improvement from the iPhone se 2nd gen that I had, now that doesn’t mean that the se was bad, it is a fantastic phone for the price and it was my first smartphone (I was damn near 21 when I got it), it was a far cry from the trac phone/flip phone I had. I traded in my iPhone se because it had a trade in value of 800$ so I used that to get the best iPhone I could get.
When I comes to how I value my iPhone 13, I will take care of it (like you should) and keep it for as long as it can go, and I would guess about 7-9 years, considering that the camera is great and the battery can be replaced if I needs it in the middle of its life span.
Conclusion: The ones that buy the newest iPhone every year is indeed a Apple boot licker.

I like android over iPhones because I can get modded apks of my favorite games, and you can root them to go full hacker man. The playstore on android is so much more diverse and has quite a lot of better games compared to iPhones.
I always thought of Android as a more enthusiast platform. and that's coming from a Google Pixel user. Hell, we have package managers that automatically find APKs that are not from the playstore for updates. I use my old Sony phone to host a VPN to my parents home. Things like these are not possible with IOS unfortunately.
Also, to anyone considering buying an Android tablet, Krita, a Linux photo editor similar to Photoshop, has an Android version now. It's pretty darn good imo.

Let's compare iOS 6 and android 4. iOS 6 can not download most apps anymore, the only way to get them is if you had iOS 6 iphone back when they were still need or of you have a brand new device, so you have access to the older versions. Android 4 on the other hand still supports most of the Google play store without the need of the steps mentioned for old iOS versions.
The best thing about android is you aren't limited to the Google play store, you can get your apps anywhere you want, even unsupported apps.

I have a Samsung and it never has to be updated, it's old af and still works just fine. The battery lasts a long time and by now, the average iPhone user would have gone through at least phones in the time I've had this one.
The funny thing about Apple, they were caught deliberately downgrading older devices to make their customers believe they need a new phone. Thats why I never buy Apple. They are a scum company that only cares about themselves and how much profit they earn by ripping people off. Samsung is the consumer friendly device by a landslide.
