  • Within the past decade, the name Akira Toriyama has once more been thrust into the spotlight thanks to his return to the Dragon Ball franchise. However, what was he doing prior to Dragon Ball Z Battle of Gods and Dragon Ball Super? Did he take a decade-long break from drawing since the series conclusion in 1995 or even possibly retire?
Well, join me today as we dive into his plethora of projects since then, both great and small, in today's video!

Hes really not tho. He doesn't even remember most of his own storylines. People love to say "its been more than 30 years since he wrote it!" OK.. Its been almost that long since I've seen the original pokemon series. I can still remember pretty much everything from it and the first 151 pokemon.. how come I can remember that, but he can't remember something HE CREATED?

@@djantouahmed7319 Dragon ball is his most popular work that he worked on for the longest amount of time. Absolutely no fucking way he forgot his own SSJ levels. No fucking way he forgot crucial characters in his own story even existing. The truth is, he pulls everything from his ass. Then has a room full of other people fix the continuity problems by either retconning or out right contradicting other story beats. I love DBZ. But holy fuck people act as if its so deep. The dude puts like 5 mins thought into it and lets a team of other people do the rest. Thats about it.

The fact it hasn't already been done is just about as much of a crime to the anime adaptation world as sailor moon never adapting "Codename: Sailor V." Both serve importance to the stories yet get summed it up in basic text and make the characters seem way less interesting. Would go for the jaco story over CGI fighterz style animation for the next dbs film anyday. Sandland would make a good anime series as well.

Recently just finished the first season of the anime actually! And I did mention Blue Dragon briefly in the video.

@@forgottenrelics1197 sorry I must of missed it but yeah the anime changes things that came first in game. it's like a different universe of it.

If I’m not mistaken Naho Ooishi was the original named successor of Akira Toriyama. She did the manga adaptation of yo son goku and friends, and created/illustrated episode of bardock. With Toriyamas supervision and blessing

Cool, I forgot he did the art for dragon warrior to, that explains why I was so drawn to the dragon warrior monsters games as a kid, though I still emulate them on an old smart phone as well

    Sweet music choices,dude.
Also, good to see Akira Toriyama getting more work after DB GT.
7:09, Hehe..he'll always be back in there.
Jaco himself is a pretty unique character considering we never got a patrol guy doing and not doing his job. He can literally make a great comedic partner while someone becomes the straightman to his antics.
