- Here is my method for quickly planing down knot hole epoxy overfill with minimal risk of gouging the wood.
You don't need a fancy or expensive router bit for this. Just get a cheap straight bit: amzn.to/2MrAmC7
Genius. Thanks man!
I might add that this will only work if you've already planed your board an it's completely flat. Otherwise you're going to route grooves in the high spots.
Thank you!!!! Going to save me a lot of time!
great news! I'm actually about to release a new video on this technique on my real youtube channel (Keith's Test Garage) - it's in the works, I've used this technique for several other things throughout the past few years.
simple and brilliant. Thank you. Just filled a wormy slab and I was dreading the planing and scraping.
Great Idea Keith!!! I have a lot of this to do on a bar I built. Gonna save me a lot of elbow grease!! Thanks for posting
Good tip. Subbed.
did this have any significant effect on the sharpness of your router bit? i've never worked with epoxy before, is a scraper a special tool for expoxy or just kinda like a light planer?
I’m not sure. I use a cheap router bit for planing epoxy, and a nice router bit for routing wood.
The scraper is more like a light planer. Search “card scraper” and you’ll find some cool videos about how handy these things can be.
Card scrapers are used in woodworking, often in lieu of sandpaper. A hand scraped surface on hardwood timber leaves a beautiful surface.
