This is a great wood project book ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxkPIWb22DigCqxmlXerCyUF4HCl6eSU2L . Most of the projects use the pallet simply as a source of reclaimed wood not as a recognizable pallet so even if you didn't have a pallet you could make these projects with any reclaimed (or even new) wood. The instructions are excellent. The style is charming and would work with lots of different decor. There are quite a number of projects that involve tiling of teh wood pieces which is a really cool idea and can produce beautiful pieces when working with aged wood.
It will always amaze me how on earth can this be done, the weight of the wood would scare me never mind working on it. A true peace of art, I realise that it’s not simple to do as you seem to make it look. Well done it’s fantastic.
At first, I was thinking it would be an oversized goblet...ho hum...THEN POW 💥 it turns into a STUNNING articulated vase with one of the best wood figures I have ever seen!!!!! Superb visionary craftsmanship!!! 👏👏👏

There’s something mesmerising about the sight and sounds of the art of woodturning on a lathe - especially wet wood and sharp tools, as a kid I would sit and watch my dad turn for hours and once I learned I really enjoyed the process - it scratches an itch for me
It's fun when you get it slowed down just enough that its rotation is roughly a factor of your camera's FPS, so it looks like the block is standing still while you carve into it :)
Yeah can get some great footage with the correct ratio’s. Hard to do it intentionally though as the lathe speed fluctuates as soon as the chisel makes contact 👍🏻😊😉
It has happened a lot on video’s but I can’t remember specifically which ones. There are some when the wood appears to change direction as well. Similar to a helicopter propellor.
Beading the vase not only looks great, it also makes the joints where it was put back together after being hollowed out practically unnoticeable! Amazing work!!
Forgive my ignorance, but is it skill that allows you to have the spacing of the beading consistent along the length of the piece? I didn't see any markings.
Wood turning is so magical. This piece kept on reminding me of the CPU in the original TRON; the way that it spins until the rotation matches the frame rate, and the pattern in the wood appears to become stationary.
With as many cross sections you did, I expected a more varied grain pattern in the end, but this project came out awesome all the same. I love watching you use your skew, because that is one lathe chisel I was never able to use effectively back when I was a "junior high aged master lathesman" (age adjusted of course). After clearing the bulk of material with my gouge, my go to for smoothing, even on a straight run, was the roundnose. My instructor was amazed at the smooth lines I could maintain with the roundnose and called me the most skilled tool man he had ever seen, and then laughed at me for not being able to effectively use the proper tool for the job...a skew lol. I have not turned a piece of wood in almost 40 years, but this brought back a lot of fond memories of all the lamps, bowls and other things I made in my early teens.
That is one amazing vase! I really admire the way you sectioned it off, to hollow it, and then put it all back together, to finish it. Thanks for the lesson on how to turn enormous objects!

Great wood character and craftsmanship turned into a masterpiece!! Outstanding finish work!!
Thanks J. Much appreciated buddy 😉👍🏻
Hi. I held my breath a couple of times thinking that the piece was ruined or that the grooves wouldn't look right BUT I WAS SOOOO WRONG!! you truly are a master woodcrafter with such a eagle eye for detail, precision and design. So impressed with your talent and your gift !!
Nice one B. Much appreciated. Have you worked with much wood?
@@JackMackWoodturning lol. No i never have. I think that's why i am so mesmerized (almost hypnotized!) every time i watch one of your vids. I think bcz i hv no point of reference (as far as wood work is concerned) is the reason that i get into your vids sooo deeply. Can't w8 to be able to binge watch your talent!!
Mad skills!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Cheers buddy

You also maxxed out the potential that was hidden in the log!
Nice work in matching the grain in the re-assembly! The beaded finish was genius!
As you can see, I'm catching up on your older content!
...and BTW, I'm watching from Crane Hill, Alabama!
Keep doing what you love!
Nice one RL. Glad you enjoyed it buddy 😊👍🏻👌🏻
Beautifully made, what a craftsman!
Thanks R. Glad you enjoyed it 😊👍🏻
You really “had it” there, about mid-way--and then turned it into: Well done, but ordinary…exceptionally ordinary.
Beautiful piece! I’m new to turning but hope that I can make something this remarkable someday! Very impressed from Ohio!
Thanks SA. I’m sure you will buddy 😉👍🏻😊

@@JackMackWoodturning I'm from Bellevue, Nebraska USA (just south of Omaha)
Nice. What type of trees are local to you ?
@@JackMackWoodturning Mostly Oak and Walnut with some Linden, Eucalyptus, Ash, Elm and a lot of evergreen varieties...there may be more, but I'm not an expert on such things.

Nice one O. I’m sure you would though. Just takes a little time. You not fancy giving it a go?

Красота 💪 видно рука мастера 👍
i love this so much jack, but i have to say, for every one of your projects, i really hope you plant a tree. love your work!!!!
I have pant 6000 trees per year. And only use arb waste for my UA-cam projects
That's one BFV! Turned out phenomenal! I think you need a small hand crane in your shop. 😄
Hi Jack. That might not be a bad plan haha. BFV? Big f**ing vase? 😂

This is one of the nicest wood turning projects I’ve ever seen! Very well done!
Thanks P. Have you seen many?
This is just so cool to watch, keep up the good work.👑
Thank you
Watching from Coquille, OR. That is amazing. Really helps me appreciate the craftsmanship and what it takes to create such a beautiful piece.
Thanks S. Much appreciated 😊😉👍🏻
This looked like it cut like butter. I love the end result!
Thanks. Green wood is a lot of fun to turn. Have you tried it before?
@@JackMackWoodturning I haven't but it looks like a dream to work with. The grain is beautiful too.
That's so cool. I wondered how that was done. Great video.

Was an epic size project! Well done and well-executed. I wasn't sure about your choice to use all those beads, but they really did allow so much figure to be seen. Keep it up!
Thanks mate.. they also hide the joints. 👍🏻
@@JackMackWoodturning Never thought of that. I'm planning my first two piece vase or hollow form. I was planning on doing a copper wrap at the joint. I glad you mentioned it. Another option!
I’d like to see that. Do you have instagram?
