  • Rhubarb lemonade is not a traditional type of lemonade. Made from a combination of rhubarb, lemon juice, and orange juice, this drink is the ultimate taste of summer! It's refreshing, bright, and full of citrus notes!

    RHUBARB NECTAR
    4 cups (approximately 1 pound) chopped rhubarb
    2 cups water
    1 1/3 cups sugar
    LEMONADE
    2 cups lemon juice
    1/2 cup orange juice
    INSTRUCTIONS
    Bring rhubarb and water to a simmer over medium-high heat. Simmer until rhubarb breaks down, about 5-10 minutes. Using a fine-mesh sieve, strain out the rhubarb solids. Let drain for a while, pressing down with a spatula or spoon to release all the juice.
    Add sugar to warm nectar. Stir until sugar has dissolved and place in the refrigerator to chill. Meanwhile, juice lemons and oranges.
    To make lemonade, pour chilled rhubarb nectar, lemon, and orange juice into a pitcher. Taste to adjust sugar if needed.
    Pour over ice-filled glasses and garnish with lemon, orange, and a rhubarb stalk to stir.

    Just wanted to tell you that we tried your recipe and loved it. This year we picked 120lb. of Rhubarb from our garden and was getting a little tired of pies and crumble. Now we have a new use for our rhubarb thanks to you. You know it has such a unique flavour that I am going to try to make a mixed drink with it. Will let you know and thanks for sharing.

    Love Rhubarb as a kid. I use to eat it raw. Never thought of making a drink out of it. That sounds and looks so good.

    Hey there Kaleb, I grew up with 12 brothers and sisters and my mom and dad grew everything under the sun. Everything was used , whether preserved, frozen, canned, or eaten. Nothing went to waste. . Anyway, we ate the Rhubarb raw as a snack while we played all day in the hot sun. I guess we were immune to the tartness and I wish people would give it a try maybe in small doses?? Many a farm stories are told. Like pick a row of beans then you can go to the lake!! Love all these recipes, reminds me of the good old days when mom did the kitchen work and dad worked the fields and animals! Loving everything you bring to mine and everyone else's tables!!! Don't ever stop!! p.s. Nothing like fresh baked anything!!

    Hi Guys! I'm falling more and more in love with your channel! Rhubard grew plentifully on my grandparents' home, just near the huge pine trees behind their 100+ year old Craftsman style farmhouse, so a rhubarb lemonade really speaks to me. Genius to add orange juice into lemonade! I'll definitely be trying this recipe. Thank you!

    I watched this video and it was awesome. I used frozen rhubarb sauce and frozen strawberry sauce, I had put in the freezer in pint caning jars a couple of years ago. Put it in my ninja added some water and lemon juice! Pored it over Ice put a canning lid on it and shook it up really good!!! So awesome!!!!!! Love your recipes because they are so easy to change up if I want to improvise :) Thank you!!!!

    I remember eating rhubarb that grew in our back yard and it was so sour but us kids loved it. I was never a fan of the pie, however this drink really looks like something I would enjoy. My Mom use to make a similar drink with pomegranate juice and rhubarb and it was delicious. Anyone ever have it? I bet you would like it Kaleb : )

      You don't get a huge "rhubarb" flavor just a subtle tartness, I love the sound of the pomegranate and rhubarb though!!

    This is a recipe to try! Growing up, my mom made jams and pies with rhubarb and they were wonderful, but I never thought about making a rhubarb lemonade! Great video!!

    A couple of weeks ago, I had afternoon tea at a lovely hotel. They started with a rhubarb lemonade, and I loved it.       Well I love rhubarb!!! And my mom mentioned that instead of grape juice she used to make rhubarb juice...that got me to thinking of ways to use it!

    Kaleb...superb video once again...thanks!!! I have extra rhubarb so I am going to make some lemonade but I am going to add some Canada Dry Gingerale as it always brings excitement to all my Homemade beverages. I used the the Rhubarb pulp for making a Rhubarb Blueberry Jam. I add sour peach candies when I was boiling it and a few others. Everyone so far has loved my jam!!! But you are the to give credit to as you told us to add some candy to our rhubarb jams. Enjoy these fall days upon us!!!

    How about combining rhubarb nectar and strawberry nectar? Mainly because I can't handle oranges for some reason. I get heartburn from oranges, but not from rhubarb. Yes, I am odd.

    What do you do with the leftover rhubarb after the straining? Do you just toss it or can it be used for something else?

      You can totally use it! I add the sugar while it's cooking, and then use the cooked rhubarb as a compote. Great on yogurt, it toast or waffles.
