hi, yoru cosplayer here lol.
i quickly rushed together a cosplay during halloween cus my other one didn’t come in time and was really obsessed with csm so i though hey.. yoru looks enough like me.. maybe i can just try. i posted the cosplay cus everyone was doing face reveals in my circle so i thought why not. when i responded it was cause i was a little dumbfounded about the chapter and remembered that old makima tweet where the girl regretting her cosplay after not reading part 1 fully so i wanted to do a little callback for some giggles.
i don’t really do cosplay ever, i’m an artist and i do vocaloid covers lol as you can see on my yt.
i really didn’t expect this to blow up …

We desperately need more Gatekeeping in Anime.

Its a reaction to how much negativity csm 167 is getting and all the L interpretation. I dont really care much, controversial content is just that; some people will get offended and thats okay. However looking at twitter, 90% of them is about SA, disgusting, uncomfortable, fujimoto must never cook again yada yada. Something I noticed recently and maybe you guys noticed too...if it were two women in this weird ass scene in CSM what kind of reaction would it be? If you said praises and fireworks yeah you would be completely right, however it is not so what kind of reaction we are having?? Well, you get the idea...
I have a feeling that a lot of people amidst geek/otaku culture are literal (and I'm not kidding) heterophobes since I'm noticing this trend of problematization of straight moments or couples on this media, and this shows more in the art department, such as in the genshin and RWBY community where a lot of art of straight ships get a lot of hate based on "you are a homophobe", "stop projecting your fantasies" and stuff like that.
Take a closer look from now on in these types of scenarios and you'll notice a pattern.
There was this woman in the first part of Chainsaw Man who barely has a personality beyond "fighting badass" and there was a page where she had a lesbian orgy. And people going "OHHHHH, SHE'S SO AWESOME, I LOVE HER!!!!"
They don't hate fanservice. They hate fanservice that is aimed at straight men. They didn't have any problems when the cliffhanger of the previous chapter was Yoru offering to cut Denji's dick.
I also really hate it when the way to solve most of those problems is always "alright this character is bisexual".
That didn’t used to be the case and I believe these people really aren’t fans just haters who pose as fans to give the real fanbase bad name. That’s what think cuz recently I encountered someone who reposted a shipping Kogami and Makashim (two males from psycho pass) fanart, I didn’t say anything just followed but few hours later this person saw my post on Akane and Kogami fan art (connan ship, hetero) and was so pissed kept on emailing, dming me about how I am homophobic and shit. The show is already so underground then this kind of shits make it worst, I checked her posts and found a comment that asked a psycho pass fanartist, ‘are the two guys male leads I haven’t watched the show’ with no replies (that was just few hours before her post so I don’t think she could have watched it in 4 hrs and posted the art)
Your not wrong people often criticize straight relationships, even though they're how most people got here. This is mostly a Western issue another fan vs tourist scenario, with fake outrage trying to influence the East. A lot of the shipping hate comes from women who aren't typically attractive coincidence? The irony of forcing gay fantasies onto straight characters. This happened with an anime I loved, Hitman Reborn (created by the same artist who designed Psycho-Pass characters, HR a mostly lighthearted shounen then what looked like the same world now violent and mature In Psycho P) The main character had a crush on a girl and another girl liked him too could have 2 gf's, but fans only made homoerotic fan art of him and his male friends. Despite him being a huge simp. Now, it's worse as people openly hunt anything straight.
This is only true for girl/girl pairings. If it was a m/m pairing, people at large would still complain.
Gatekeeping is so valid and I hate it when people act like its a bad thing.
You have a group of people who like a niche thing. And this group of people are usually tormented and even socially outcast for liking it.
The company behind the niche thing wants to line its pockets, so it keeps trying to advertise to new audiences and bring in more viewers to make more money.
More people get interested, but dislike it for X Y Z reasons. Company takes notice and changes thing to appeal to the NEW fans and completely ignores the old fans.
Now company is making a lot more money. New fans have swarmed in and taken over. The formerly niche thing is now mainstream and nothing like it used to be. The same elitist assholes that ridiculed the nerds and outcasts 10, 20, or even 30 years earlier for liking a thing now like it themselves and are STILL ridiculing the exact same group of people and trying to outcast them from their own interests and hobbies once again.
Gatekeep everything you love or it will inevitably be destroyed. Humans built walls for thousands of years to protect what they cared about. Gatekeepers existed for a good reason.
It's even common sense. If you are playing a game with your friends and someone trashes it or mocks you guys for playing, why would you want that person hanging out with you?
The same reason why femboy trope was deemed offensive for these people. It used to be fine back then, people loved tomboy or femboy characters as they are until these folks coming as said "they are trans" etc.
There's also one of the most annoying part are those who always complain about character ages and the crowd who always call you p3d0.

ppl tend to take popular sensitivity as baseline. Like if most of the audience is desensitized to brutal murdering but arent to sexual sht then the latter is heavier than the former. this video got me to catch up on the 40 or so chapters behind i was. i don't expect anything less from csm. denji is the one character where whatever he does you "support" him through it. does he want his hedonistic desires? sure let him have it. does he legitimately want to improve himself? of course that is welcome as well.

2/3 of this can't always be helped but she can still flip the image. Not all of us know how to style wigs (i have one I am struggling with detangling right now.) and not all of us can get every color of contacts for each character we want to cosplay, nor are we willing to put it in our eyes. It's stuff like this that demotivates starters like us from even wanting to attempt cosplay.
@@Merry-Ghoul the color contacts are optional. That's fine. The wig and scar are an easier fix though. Especially the scar which she wouldn't have gotten wrong if she took the time to properly look at a picture of the character.
The hair is a very generic Asian hairstyle.
@@Matthew_Y Yeah and I suppose that if it's a character you really wanted to cosplay you'd put in the time and money to do it right anyway. I just think that for a low effort cosplay, it was still recognizable, which from a low-budget standpoint is the main goal.

Two funny things, firstly, most people complaining about "westerners" are also westerners, the second funny point is that Japan is a part of the west. "The west" is a Political concept, not a geographical one. The only context in which Japan is actually "east" would be within the Eurasian continent, in which case, they're west compared to the US anyway

Us asians take the character we cosplay very seriously especially those professionals. I often see them bringing their make up luggage around

Now I've been to some anime conventions over here in the Netherlands years ago, and even cosplayed myself as Squall Leonhart from FF8 (with makeup and metal gunblade); but it's nothing compared to when I see how asians do cosplay. They really take it to another level and it's just awesome to see! 😅

I miss the time when both anime and kpop are not popular in west and it was mostly only popular in asia. Meanwhile, the Asian's version looks VERY convincing. Almost looks like a 3D model if you think about it.
Both cosplays are unremarkable. If it weren't for the scar, you wouldn't have been able to tell what character this was supposed to be. The sole difference is that one is clearly prettier than the other.
