    Follow along as we start down the path of turbocharging my '67 Beetle... again!
    This video covers the fabrication of the intake side turbo plumbing for the car. Its all fabricated from 304 stainless, and connects the Garrett turbo to twin 40mm IDF style throttle bodies. This video picks up mid-way through the fabrication process, but gives a high level overview of how everything was built.

    If you don't want more cooling issues, you should rethink your turbo placement, to have it completely under the tin (like the hideaway kits). You're just bringing all the heat from the exhaust side of the turbo into the engine bay, which will get sucked into the cooling system, and some of the hot air coming out the bottom will recirculate into the cooling system. You should also use a turbo blanket and either a coating or wrap on the exhaust itself, to keep as much of the heat in the exhaust system and exited out the tail pipe, instead of it radiating heat back into the engine bay.

      This is a hideaway style header, but it may be hard to tell that without the apron and tins currently. I will make my own breastplate tin to keep the turbo covered and top/bottom separated and sealed up. I’ll also be adding a turbo blanket and doing some other insulation before all said and done. The biggest things I did engine side for heat control (relative to measured CHTs), is the larger hot side on the turbo, and a purpose built turbo long block that keeps the CR low without a ton of deck. Anxious to see how it compares to my previous turbo setups.

    Maybe the Cleanest tucked turbo setup I’ve seen .. slow clap 👏 keep them coming.. .. more close ups and tutorial.. you asked what people would like to see.. that’s my 2 cents.. and I know editing is time consuming.. so great vid 🤙🤙

      Thank you Jason! I appreciate the compliments and feedback on the videos. I should hopefully have more content on this build soon (fingers crossed). Been busy with other projects, so this one has been on hold for a few months, but I should be back at it shortly!

    While you at it you should relocate that wastegate flange to the collector.

    Hi Adam. I recently found your UA-cam site and became quite interested in the type 4 you installed in your bug. I've considered something similar, and after seeing used t-4 cases available near me here in Atlanta, I just wanted to know what to look out for when purchasing one

    • @vee_dub_nut
      @vee_dub_nut  9 місяців тому

      I’m certainly not an expert on T4’s, but condition of the center bearing saddle is important. Bolt the case up together and shine light through the crank tunnel, and see if you get any light that passes through the bearing saddle surfaces. Also make sure the middle cam boss isn’t damaged from over tightening the oil plate. Just a few things to look for

    Hi, sorry not seen your previous videos (yet) When you had single throttle body turbo, did you have a plenum ? Been running a single SU draw through system for years, going for EFI shortly

    • @vee_dub_nut
      @vee_dub_nut  9 місяців тому

      No, with my old single TB setups, I never had an plenums. Just the intake tee going into efi style end castings. The new single setup I built after I sold this itb setup used cut down idf manifolds with plenums welded on. I’m hopeful that this and the cam choice makes for a smooth running engine.

  • @fbervaz
    @fbervaz Рік тому

    Hi!!! in this setup, how your fabricated de turbo oil return to the block engine? do you use a electric pump for this or only gravity?
    Regards!

    • @vee_dub_nut
      @vee_dub_nut  Рік тому +1

      I didn’t finish this one before making some major layout changes (which are still in progress), but I’ve used the low mount hideaway headers on several builds in the past with zero issues. All gravity drain back to the side of a deep sump. Key it using only a -3 oil feed, and a large -10 drain line.

    What turbo is this in the video? Is it a t03/4 or what🤔 interesting video!

    • @vee_dub_nut
      @vee_dub_nut  Рік тому +1

      Yes, it’s a t3/t4e (in a t4b cover), 50 trim compressor. Turbo is good for ~450hp. My goal/target is 300@crank.

      @@vee_dub_nut i have a garrett gtx35r "hybrid" in my turbo ghia, with a allmost identical header, except the flange is v-band now, and the collector is a bit longer, but for another setup, maybe to the maxxecu-wbx-bug 2.1 ill use also a t03/04 china turbo. my goal (hp) is lower than yours, but very interested of how the setup works, 🙂 how much power, and torque too...
