If you’ve driven several vehicles, you’ve probably noticed that some vehicle windshields are equipped with a tinted strip on the windshield. These tint strips are usually around four to six inches in height and stretch the whole length of the windshield. The purpose of tint strips The tint strip on the windshield is actually known as a shade band. Its purpose is simple: to provide protection from the sun’s glare in that pesky spot just below your roof line and just above the visor. That spot is notorious for being difficult to block when you are driving into the sun shortly before sundown. The reason the shade band is only four to six inches in height is so it doesn’t obstruct or obscure your vision when you are driving in normal traffic. If the shade band stretched any further down, it could cause a distraction to some drivers or make it hard to see traffic lights at an upward angle. If your windshield doesn't have a shade band, it's important to get one. It's not mandatory on all vehicles nor is it required if your windshield was originally equipped with one, but it can prevent annoying glare from hard to block spots.

This was so interesting I just sat through the whole 20 minutes and didn't even realize that's how long I was sitting here watching the video. Absolutely amazing video!!
Outstanding video, Chris. Only constructive remark is to file rust away from the mounting bracket. Don't forget to put antiseize or brake lube on that bracket before the abutment clips are installed, since rust jacking behind the clips is a common cause of failure.
this was a cool video and i would love to see more. i actually loved watching the show How its Made and this made me feel like i was a kid glued to the TV again lol this.
Yeah, I'm used to removing, cleaning up and then reinstalling whatever comes from the factory! Usually in the UK, when you get the box, you literally get four pads. That's it. If you're lucky, you might get new caliper bolts, sometimes a couple shims, and if the car is a 'fancy' one, might come with wear indicators. (Both the steel tab ones or the electrical ones.) Piston cushions really would be a game-changer if they were included with pads.
@@chrisfix and not only this one! I'm a woman but your videos are super interesting and makes me want to learn more about cars in general. I particularly liked the "all fluids change" one ! Organic brakes?!? Hmmm...I think some Googling is in my future. 😂 Pasture raised, cage free, non GMO, gluten free, no MSG, fat free, peanut free, dairy free, low carb, sugar free, hormone free, vegan organic brakes 😂 Edit: Well I learned something new! 👍~ Organic brake pads, sometimes called nonasbestos organic brake pads, are made from natural materials liked glass and rubber, as well as resins that can withstand high heat. In fact, the high heat helps to bind the brake pad materials together. ... As they wear, they also create more dust than other types of brake pads. ~

@@chrisfix ...General Motors "MagneRide" suspension technology would be even cooler. As it combines all of what Nicco Games wants to see on basic suspension tech, but with the special magnetic fluid dynamics and electronic control of that fluid from within the shock cavity being controlled by sensors and onboard computers.
These aren't even pads for sale, not how they're made. Most car parts aren't made in USA anyways. And is usually a closely guarded secret. I worked in Canada making all the machines to make Brake pads and recycle shoes. I remember NAPA and AutoZone touring the factory with 20 suits. All pads shipped to them said "made in USA", total lie. Bet they dont make any shocks or struts anywhere in North America. Boring anyway, just punch presses

I only have like... 0.092% of a chance of making this even close to being a thing, but I know someone that works in the engineering department of a well respected turbo company. Chris- any interest? If so, I can do my very best to get you in touch. But it's really a shot in the dark.
Being a professional auto mechanic, I like the personal behind the scenes view of manufacturing and testing. Tours are not generally available
Expanding to other parts is a great expansion, is a great idea.

Bro thats a great idea for a series. You're going to make the Discovery Channel jealous and they're going to make video about how u make ur videos lmao. I need new brake pads as well perfect timing.
Very Good Chris, Most people have no idea why you buy Good Quality pads over cheap crap based strictly on price. I would like to see a video on different brake pad material selections including hard, soft and metal impregnated etc. Education is key to stopping idiocracy and death by price! I am a tight wad but I like to chase price AFTER choosing what quality level I want. You're helping people do just that

Outstanding video, Chris. Only constructive remark is to file rust away from the mounting bracket. Don't forget to put antiseize or brake lube on that bracket before the abutment clips are installed, since rust jacking behind the clips is a common cause of failure.

One of your best videos yet. Yes would love a series on how other auto parts are made and what goes into making them;)
Very interesting... first time I've seen "piston cushions" hardware from an aftermarket brand
you can make one for yourself
Yeah, I'm used to removing, cleaning up and then reinstalling whatever comes from the factory!
Usually in the UK, when you get the box, you literally get four pads. That's it. If you're lucky, you might get new caliper bolts, sometimes a couple shims, and if the car is a 'fancy' one, might come with wear indicators. (Both the steel tab ones or the electrical ones.) Piston cushions really would be a game-changer if they were included with pads.

That is a great idea!
I'd like to know too, I get that question a lot
Me too

Organic brakes?!? Hmmm...I think some Googling is in my future.
😂 Pasture raised, cage free, non GMO, gluten free, no MSG, fat free, peanut free, dairy free, low carb, sugar free, hormone free, vegan organic brakes 😂
Edit: Well I learned something new! ~
I always thought he did voice overs after lol but you can hear the echo at the factory 😂
Sometimes he does sometimes not.
