    Wow, when that pigmentation comes to life with water, it is marvellous! I see these pencils exist at least since 11 years ago, and I only new now about its existence, I am mesmerized!

    I love the Graphitint pencils, I think the selection of colours are beautiful, I think with the Derwent Drawing and Derwent Graphitint, I would absolutely love to see more colours added to the sets, maybe both extending to 36 or 48. Not sure it this would be possible as the colours they provide are so unique and extending the range might ruin this. Love Derwent.

    What a great job to have! I am new to making art and am teaching myself by watching lots of these videos and trying the techniques myself. What this video has taught me is that I would very much benefit from a drawing class!

    Derwent range their products on a scale of 0-8 for lightfastness, with 6 and above being considered very lightfast. In the 24 set of Derwent Graphitint, 19 of them are rated 6 and above, for those just enjoying sketching, which would be most people, this is an excellent lightfast rating.

    The only issue with these is they are not lightfast and fade quickly according to some. Fine for doing sketches if longevity doesn't matter. They are really a pleasure to use it is just such a shame that they fade. 😔

      Kyomii Hi! I to was worry about the lastfastness of these pencils. I believe ( not %100 sure)20 of 24 have a raring of 7or 8. I looked on Derwents website. One of those colors- Port use in this demonstration has a low raring of 3.

    • @dshe8637
      @dshe8637 2 роки тому +1

      That's disappointing. You would e pect in an age of great synthetic pigments, they could use something more durable.
      At this level, many of us want to sell our work and it's no good using materials that won't tolerate framing and hanging.

      They’re graphite with a bit of color tint … of course they have good lightfast properties. They’re mostly pencil.😊

    Wow! This looks like fun, and a reason to buy more pencils. Beautiful job and very nice voice for narration. I have never seen anyone hold a pencil like that. Is there some reason for the curled index finger?

    • @recoveringsoul755

      some people just feel more control over a pencil or writing implement by holding it in a different way. I remember being in 3rd grade and my teacher being really mad at me trying to force my hand into unnatural and uncomfortable positions to conform to what society deems correct. It didn't work. She put crumpled newspaper in my hand to force my fingers out, but I could not control the pencil that way. Watching art channels I see some people just hold pencils differently. I don't really see that it matters as long as the person feels comfortable holding it and still has control of the pencil. If she tried to hold it in a different way, she probably wouldn't be able to write or draw anymore. If I weren't double jointed I wouldn't be able to grip a pencil the way that I do.

      Georgina Black you answered yor own comment if you cant draw this bad maybe you dont know what diference between how and why you draw or learn to see. how you hold the tool and the order of coulours is important if she is running the show maybe derwent anrt that good she wouldnt be advertising anything to do with art for me

    • @iloveharrold

      +Georgina Black sorry im not meaning to be negative to you please believe me these are not good pencils im only commenting on the quality vs price.. they wont help you draw better try caran d ache they are softer wood and sharpen easier and the lead dosnt seem snapped before you even sharpen them.also faber castell polychromos for colour sharp lines and soft side shading they dark colours are opaque the light ones semi transparent so you can get good colour blends . you can also use a piece of adhesive vinyl on top trace where you want highlights and the vinyl will lift the outline for you . or a battery eraser . in pencils a HB 3B and 7B should be all you need . I saw book yesterday" Colored Pencil Artist's Drawing Bible" well worth buying for your fundamentals . or youtube has plenty find a style you like or artist and see if they have tutorials . a lightbox or projector is very handy for transferring reference material if you are looking for some good artists that will help in many ways check out deviantart.com ... sorry I think art is without rules but you don't want to start with bad tools it will only lead to frustration...in your previous coment you wish you could draw ... the reality is most people need to learn to see . ie what is it made of , does it reflect light , textures , opacity , colour of light ect think about that before you start .regards

      I don't know why you are comparing Polychromos with Graphitint as good or bad they are quite different. I hope you didn't put Georgina off for life swamping her with all that info.

      @@iloveharrold There is no right or wrong way to hold a pencil. When you draw, you will eventually find the pencil position(s) that suit(s) you best. That is all that there is to it. And it just so happens to be that most, but not all, people will find that they are better off holding their pencil for drawing differently than they would for writing.
      As for you thinking that art could be expressed without rules - you are right. Unfortunately there are quite a few people out there who feel the need to try to make themselves feel moe important by talking about others in an uncalled for, condescending manner. All we can do to deal with that is laugh at it because what is true everywhere else in life, is true in the art community as well: The happier one is with ones own work/abilities/situation/etc. , the less of a need one feels to speak negatively about others.
      I agree that the fish looks nice, and if that is how you want to draw, just practice and eventually you will be able to draw like this and even better.

    What would you suggest as the best blending tool to use when blending these colors dry? Thank you.

    • @derwent
      @derwent  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Rose, we would recommend using something like our blender pencils, as the pencils are smooth and waxy, a paper stump wouldn't work. Otherwise, our blender pens would also work but would wash the colour in a similar way to using water.
      Hope that helps.
      Best,
      Derwent
