I had a surgery four weeks ago. No pain after the first 24hrs and even before that, it wasn't too bad. I'm still in the post surgical shoes and will be another two weeks but I can walk normally now and there is no pain. If I knew 20 years ago it was going to be this easy I'd have had them done but I was too put off by people telling me how much it hurts. Btw, I had both feet done at the same time
I've had bunions all my life, I'm 63 and was born with club feet. I think my bunions were caused from the special shoes connected to a metal bar. I'd love to have the surgery. Mine are way worse than this woman's were, and shooting pain.
I had bunion and hammertoe surgery on 3-2 -2022. Not bad ! Hardest for me is being still. I wish I could have found a doctor to do them both at the same time. Still have a little pain and swelling. I go get stitches out today. 4 more weeks for pin in hammertoe . I feel the same about people telling me how bad it was for the surgery so I put it off for many years . My foot look amazing even with the swelling 👏 praise God and I also thank Dr Nathan Blanton of Cincinnati. Just do it ! Don't continue to put it off . Now I got to get the other one done. My life is busy but I Have to do it so my feet look the same. Wish you the best! God bless !
Thank you sharing. I needed to see this. Having so much trouble with a bunion on my right foot along with arthritis. Doctor says I am a good candidate for surgery. Which I will tackle after the holidays. So I have watching a lot of bunion surgery videos. Thank you again very encouraging.
I have not. I had it scheduled to be done. Then covid broke out and they cancelled elective surgeries. Working playing catch with appointments. I still want to do it, but now is not the time.
Thank you so much for posting this video. I am scared and happy in both ways as im due for bunion surgery in one month. I am an adult 6ft 2 in 75 kg and i cannot wait to get back to run as often as i was doing . How long it will take to fully recovery to get back to full running? Many thanks to you all ❤
What kind if bunion sergery she had done thats she can stand? Omg i wantto know please, especially on both feet??? Its been 6 weeks and I still cant put ant weit on my foot.
Same here I was on my feet the day after surgery I had a bunion off and the joint removed from the toe next to it and pinned and a plate put in my big toe, I was in agony for a good few days and dug my crutches out from when I had my hips replaced so I could get around the house, I am glad I had it done and it's been about 3 months now and the funny dead/pins and needles tight feeling is going and getting back to normal.
JOSEPHINE CUNNINGHAM you will find that wears off after a few weeks, I had mine done in June and September a good three months that funny tight sort of dead feeling is almost gone and it's only sore if I walk too far, I am glad I had it done but I have that much arthritis in all my other joints including the same foot I will never get 100% recovery with the operation, it's still a bit tender if you press the spot the bunion was removed from but not bad.
Thanks for this very helpful video. The patient is advised not to stand up on tiptoe. If she did so, could that dislodge the pins or otherwise harm the surgery?
How does it look so good? I had one foot done and now I’m glad they refused to do both when I suggested it. lol But my foot looks more deformed and hurts more after even having a corrective surgery after the first one. I’m done though. Not touching the other foot and now I’m living in chronic ugly foot on both sides pain. So … ugh. This looks so good
I want to see my X-rays! Why wasn’t given any instructions like this? You guys are amazing. Mine, no weight bearing. Me.. can I stationary bike? Elliptical? Yoga? Kettlebell? Them…. I guess?
@@gregl2249 2weeks post op both feet done 💃🏽... Thought I'd need lifting as I have 2flights of stairs but first day i flew up no help , just me my cructhes and special shoe boots 🥳
We encourage you to have them evaluated by a Certified Podiatrist! Bunions can worsen over time and they can help you prevent that or even repair them!
I had surgery 5 days ago, scarf akin procedure. All is well so far, but I have a significant amount of bruising around my toes and down to my heal. I have no pain. Is this a sign of a problem??
You had the surgery? Did you do the evasive or the minimally invasive one? You're concerned you have no pain? I'd be concerned if they're was excessive amount of pain. Do you take narcotics? I'm having the minimal one done soon.
@@tanya4534 Yes, I had the surgery 1 week ago. I was given the narcotic pills when I was sent home from surgery, I took 1 pill to help me sleep the first night. It was really not for pain. It didn't help my sleep so I didn't take anymore. I really havent had any pain since surgery. The only down side is the bruising. I have my first post op tomorrow, we'll see what the doc says. I didn't have the minimally evasive. It was the standard Scarf Akin procedure just on my right foot. I was told my incision is probably 2 to 3 inches long. I am not really sure, why I have no pain but it true, non. I will ask the question tomorrow. I suspect its just the amount of correction that was needed. Also, my surgeon's experience, he has done close to 1500 of the same procedures.
Dale that sound amazing. I may have to get mine done at some point. What state did you get it done and what is doctors name? I would travel for great results
@@rls6079 My surgery was done in Boulder CO. The surgeon is Dr Brian Gradisek of Foot and Ankle Care of Boulder County. I am very satisfied. Its been 8 months since my surgery and things are fine. No pain, I am 74 years old, and walking a jogging 3 to 4 miles/day. Its one of the better things I have done for my body.

I guess it will harm healing process in the joint and prolong healing.
