This information was so extremely helpful to me, I had bunion surgery about a month ago and i felt like I asked all the right questions prior to my surgery but i was concerned about some of the symptoms I am experiencing, your video has helped me to fell less anxious about those symptoms. Thank you so much.
This was extremely informative One suggestion would be models of the foot, showing all of its parts, so that when for example you refer to a specific tendon and how it is manipulated to straighten out the big toe, for a lay person, at least for myself, that needs to be actually seen. But all in all, you thank you for an extremely informative video. I have a bunion; but ad long as I wear the correct shoes, it doesn't bother me. However, I absolutely know the throbbing pain that a bunion can deliver. That said, there appears to be too many risks associated with the surgery, and personally, all those pins etc.(foreign objects) that in some instances that ate left in the body is just scary; but depending up on a person's situation, everyone has to decide for themselves. Again, thanks.
Thank you for the video and all the info. I have a painful bunion, but I am also 70 and not so sure I wish to deal with the risks and possibly more pain.
Hi do you recommend the lapiplasty which is not available where i live, ive been putting it off for years but is bad now and effecting my day to day routines. The surgeons in my area dont get good reviews i think.
I had a bunion surgery healing from it as I type…. but also have a Jones fracture from years ago that I didn’t have surgery on . It has a bony bump which formed to stabilize the Jones fracture. I didn’t have surgery on it because I didn’t want to compromise the Jones fracture. Was that the correct decision ? Could I have just had the bony bump shaved down? I opted to not do the surgery due to the 6 week non weight baring. Sadly not in the position to be off from work. I did though however want to have the bump reduced. Also you have me mode information in your video than my doctor and doctors office. Thank you so much.
I had bunion surgery on both feet. My left foot is doing great and has healed very well. Not so good with my right foot. From the onset, the scaring got somewhat infected and I've developed a keloid scar. I've experienced quite a bit of pain when I do high-impact exercises, it's how I try to keep active. I got an x-ray recently and we discovered that the bones appear to be touching, when as five months ago, there was sufficient space in the 1st Metatarsal joint. There is hardly any space left now. I still have movement, but I cannot get that same flexibility as my left foot. My left foot, I can almost bend the toe to an 90 degree angle, the other foot perhaps an 80 degree angle? What do you think could have caused me to onset what appears to be some type of arthritis? I wish I can send you my x-ray so you can understand what I mean and so I can get your feedback. Thank you for your time in answering.
I have had dorsal bunions and other foot problems like plantar faciitis for years and I was able after three years of wearing Vibram five finger shoes for 3 years and most of my problems width my feet are gone. I never went to a podiatrist and am very glad I never did. I tried to contact many podiatrists and other doctors and no one returned my phone call.
Dear Dr. I am an optometrist and I have some basic medical knowledge and we work with eye muscles as well. I can tell you that your profession is ignoring many times the effect of the toe muscles on the orientation of the bones. Just putting screws in does not always work because the imbalance in the ad and abductor muscles can mess up your surgery. I would like someone to actually E-mail to me, because the way bunions are corrected today is not based on good scientific knowledge. Please contact Dr. Ray Mcclanahan.
@@richardjackson7624 Hey Richard I did an interview with Ray recently did you get a chance to see it. I love his work. If you want to email me I would be happy to just send it over. ua-cam.com/video/FF17VZDXvZ8/v-deo.html
Just had bunion surgery. I have actual fibreglass casts on big toes and the tops of both feet. My doctor says he doesn’t need to see me for 6-8 weeks. I have been prescribed T3s for pain. Pain meds had me throwing up on Day 2, and digestion stops which is also tough to deal with. And joy of joys, I came down with Covid the day after the surgery! I’ve been in a world of pain and misery but doing better now. Thank goodness I had the Omicron booster before surgery. 😢🙁
my surgery was botched. the surgeon did a minimal invasive type with NO SCREWS OR WIRES and where he cut the tendon i am experiencing a lot of pain, bruising and swelling even after 2 YEARS! i'm receiving physical therapy and it has helped a bit but i still feel like i may need a revision surgery.
i've done a bunion surgery on my right foot also at the same time the doctor do a gastrocnemius recession due to my tight calf,my left foot still not operated so do i need to do it?
The constant pain i am in for 27, years is unbeatable. I'm tired the second i wake up. Ask any woman what the most painful, pain there is, it a toothaches. Bunion surgery should be a walk in the park.
HI Dear DR Bhaskerand Kumar Uncle and Orthopaedic Surgeon and How are you I am fine I will send you a nice message and No Exercises and No Walk and May God bless you with Lots of love Preethi ❤️ 😍
CAN THE EXCESS CALCIUM BUILD UP ON THE OUTSIDE BE REMOVED WITHOUT MOVING THE TOE OVER WITH SUCH INVASIVE SURGERY AS I DONT CARE IF THE TOE IS CROOKED.. I JUST WAnt the friction against the toe to be reduced ..............( A PARTIAL JOB?)
I have mine coming up on September 28th. Honestly, I'm scared to death. I have someone to go with me. But no one to help me around the house. I live on the 3rd floor, 32 steps. My surgeon told me my big toe will be fused at the first knuckle. I need surgery in the middle of my foot too. I'm guessing my hammer toe will be getting done too. I'm so scared. Oh!!!! I'm Pigeon toed. 😢
Praying your surgery was a success. I have a very mild bunion still can be painful if I stop my exercise. My sister had surgery many years ago on both feet. Her feet never been the same. She has suffer more pain after the surgery. At all costs I would stay away from surgery. Listening to the doctor describe surgery before and after the procedure makes me nauseous. I have not talk to anyone that has had a success bunion procedure.
